There toast
by capaccione on 02/08/2008Walked in on the next to the last day of the month with 3 dealer ads selling the car for 500 under invoice. They tried to negotiate but I told them I would just drive to the other dealer ( 200 miles but for 500, why not). They gave me the… price and had to locate the car. Called on Monday with a car with more options, so I refused. Three days later they called to say they found car I requested and delivered 2 days later. They tried to make me pay the documentary fee and once again I refused so they settled for a small fraction.Salesman was nice & polite but could not make any decisions. As long as you have the money, they were desperate. They also pleaded on the survey and I I told them the deal was not yet complete. Picking up the car was a nightmare getting tossed from the salesman, to the finance office, then to the delivery manager. Key issues are to go when they are desperate and be almost totally rigid. Do not trust or sign anything - They asked me to sign a release of liability if there was a problem - not a chance. There are many dealers out here that will sell the car below invoice to move the unit.Hopeless
by firehouse46 on 01/23/2008I met this young salesman and as I walked in I told him I just wanted a brochure on a particular car. He never introduced himself by name but took me over to his desk and started the mumbling about "do you want to buy today" and all… that junk. You can get enough good advice about steering away from this routine as posted on Edmund's articles and forums. So, as I sat there am older couple at the next desk (no walls, all desks crunched in was kind of funny and cheap) were trying to get this older salesman to just give the Out the Door Price on something they were looking at. He fumbled and mumbled and could not commit. I did not get to see the rest of the saga but I noticed they headed off the lot pretty soon therafter. So the kid offer a test drive. Sure why not. He takes me to an older used model of what I told him I was interested in. Additionally, he showed me one that was loaded to the hilt which again was not what I told him I am looking for. Regardless, off we drive a dinky few blocks around. He's still trying to use his salesman 101 questions on me. I was just letting him run the deal out wondering where are we going in this conversation? has he even really listened to me? Well, back to the lot. Final trick, he said he forgot to give me his business car. Off he goes into the showroom to get his card. I see Mr. Sales Manager closing in on the kid. I am sure they were ready for the pressure play on me. Only thing, the kid did not notice I did not go back into the showroom and I was heading back to my vehicle. Out the corner of my eye I think I saw the death stare of the Sales Manager melting the kid as I made my escape. I found a less painful way to buy. Got the deal all set up with one of the pure national internet dealers that has been online for a long, long time. It will be totally awesome if I have to pick up the car at James Toyota Scion in NJ. They likely won't recognize me and wonder why I am laughing so much. You would think that after all these years the dealers would cut these stupid tactics but I guess these games work on a lot of people and they sell cars at their price.
Still Having hard time collecting my deposit after cancellation
by edmundsbas on 01/17/2008First, let me tell you that this is not a bogus story from a competitor to this dealer. I've waited roughly 20 days after my experience (not finished yet) to write this review. I wanted a Toyota Camry 2008 model so I went to Route One… Auto mall(Sansone). Their MSRP with fully loaded Camry was just over $32000 but I managed to bargain and get the price down to $ 31500 out of the door deal. I wanted a certain color but they didn't have it yet they agreed to locate on in 8 business days (which they did and I drive new Camry now). Since I had a car to trade, I went for more shopping with that number in my mind ($31500). Since James Toyota was the preferred dealer on Edmunds.com, I drove about 40 miles to Flemington after initial appointment. They were very friendly met the sales person who was very friendly and we sat down after a test ride. Their price (MSRP) for the same car I wanted with all the options reached around $ 33000 but when I told them about the number I got from the other dealer they agreed to give me the vehicle for $31000.00 (out of the door not MSRP). So I put down a deposit of $500 which they immediately rang. I also got the number for the car I had yet I didn't take it with me to show them. I had to go to the other dealership to cancel the order I had so I went there the next day and they matched James Toyota number but gave a better deal for my car. I again took my car to James Toyota to get the actual trade in value and they didn't beat the previous one. So I decided to go with Route One Auto mall. I called the sales person and informed the decision and then he showed the true colors. He was quite dismissive and unfriendly. I asked him to credit $500 they charged as deposit and sent a mail too. Now for last two weeks or so I keep calling them for my deposit yet they haven't credited it. They keep repeating that they would credit. I even spoke to the supervisor of sales but no result. I'm glad now that I went with route 1 Auto mall instead of James Toyota after their treatment. I still need to get my $500 back. From this dealer? They are an Edmunds 'premier dealer' whatever that is supposed to provide buyres. Is that something they earned or just something they bought from Edmunds? Looks like you and I have both had bad experiences there. Too bad you have to fight to get your money back.

by miscrism on 02/26/2014updated 06/03/2025I just leased an Highlander from this dealer. Everything went so smooth. I would absolutely recommend them to family/friends. Dave was knowlegeable, friendly and eager to please which made for a quick and painless process.Great Experience
by LadaGT on 02/20/2014updated 06/03/2025I spoke with Kevin. He was very professional and welcoming and accomodated to my needs. I'm looking forward to make a purchase this Saturday. A+Title Nightmare Ultimately Gets Resolved By Helpful Dealer
by captain_crunch on 01/15/2014updated 06/03/2025The buying experience was ok, and the car is running well so far, but when the title arrived in the mail one of the digits of the VIN number on the document was almost invisible. First I went to DMV. They agreed that the title needed… replaced but blamed it on the dealer. Then I went to Fred Beans and they blamed it on the DMV. I ended up back at the DMV, paid an extra $60 to get a proper title, and was disappointed with both DMV and Fred Beans. The DMV showed me a code typed on the original title that indicated it was printed at the dealer, so probably Fred Beans was mostly at fault. I went home feeling frustrated, and posted my experience on the Edmunds website. A few days later I received a phone call from the General Manager at Fred Beans Toyota after he saw my post. He was very apologetic about the problems I had with the title error, and sent me a check to refund the extra $60 dollars I'd spent at the DMV. He promised to use my post as a teaching point with his sales staff to avoid future customers from having the same experience. When the check arrived in the mail, it included a complimentary detail service for my car's exterior. Actions speak louder than words, and based on the General Manager's actions, Fred Beans took responsibility for the mistake, and showed they value me as a customer. I appreciate the steps they took to address my issue, and they have regained my trust and my business.Ms. Anne T. Fred Beans Flemington
by lorelepaigep on 02/20/2014updated 06/03/2025I had previously had very negative experiences when the dealership was owned by James Toyota. However, Ms. Anne reached out to me regarding my lease and gave me a very wonderful experience! She understood my needs as a young buyer with… little credit. Though the final payment price was a little higher than negotiated, I feel that the staff did everything they could to reach me at my comfort level. I am now leaving with a brand new (green!) Corolla that they worked hard to get me in. I would highly recommend Ms. Anne T., Ray from financing, and Pete sales manager. She was patient, understanding, and overall a great salesperson.First Time Car Buying Made Quick & Simple with Ms. Anne T.
by MorganAyn on 02/25/2014updated 06/03/2025As a first time car buyer I was fairly intimidated about buying a car. Were they going to overprice me, how seriously would they take me, and please dear lord don't let me crash the car when I test drive one! My parents had suggested I… visit Anne at FB Toyota since they have had good luck with this dealership in the past, and needless to say, my worries quickly disappeared. Anne was very attentive to my needs, quick to communicate and an overall pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a vehicle, no matter what the type, I highly recommend visiting Fred beans and their fantastic sales team.Rose N. keeps us coming back to Beans
by Style_Lover on 03/11/2014updated 06/03/2025We recently purchased a Scion IQ from Rose N. at Fred Beans Toyota. This is the second car in 6 months that we have purchased through Rose. Needless to say, Rose is a true professional and makes the normally unpleasant task of finding a car… something that we looked forward to! She is knowledgeable, easy to work with - none of the "sales tactics" that we've experienced at other places. We love Toyota and we love Rose!Great Job - Anne T.
by happycustome96 on 02/28/2014updated 06/03/2025Always a pleasure to purchase a car from Fred Beans and working with Anne T. Her professionalism is unmatched.Outstanding Transaction from Start to Finish
by Darvish on 03/03/2014updated 06/03/2025My wife and I were so impressed with the genuine interest and the considerable effort that "all" of the crew of this dealership showed to get us the vehicle of our choice. They certainly left a long lasting impression.Bait and switch
by greybird1 on 06/26/2011updated 06/03/2025They totally wasted our time. They played the "bait and switch game". We were looking for a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. They had two demo models on the floor (used grey and a used white). We asked to order it, he said that he was unable… to. He said that it would take too long to come from Japan. He stated that he could locate one from another dealer lot. He kept changing stories. The grey and the white were the same price. The the white was more money because it was further away. Teh grey was less money but we would still have to pay a delivery fee. Did we have a preference for color? He would print out a list with all of the car features. He would give us a detailed price estimate on both cars. Then after 15-20 minutes he said he only had the price on one, but was unable to print it out because the manager did not give him approval. He wrote the price on the back of his card. He said that it was not the exact price because he did not know what extra fees there would be; but it was the best price that he could give us. We went home and did a price search on the internet. Guess which dealership came up with the best price. Do not trust these people. Not a Bad Experience
by tomX2 on 12/17/2012updated 06/03/2025We wound up purchasing a 2013 Sienna after a couple of negotiating sessions. Staff was professional and friendly and our 3-day old vehicle is outstanding!Amazing Experience
by kbd7 on 11/21/2013updated 06/03/2025I would recommend Fred Beans Toyota of Flemington to anyone! From the moment I walked into the door, I was treated with respect and courtesy. The professionalism of the staff was beyond what I could have ever imagined. The vehicle was ready… for me in front of the dealership when I got there. The salesman made the entire experience easy and I could not be more satisfied. My very first brand new car!
by norske801 on 03/12/2014updated 06/03/2025Stopped by Fred Beans Toyota late one evening wanting to look at a new Camry, get estimates, compare financing, etc. I was immediately greeted by Jack H., who took me right over to a floor model,we sat in it, he showed me the features, then… we went to his desk where we talked estimates for what I was looking for, financing, etc. Jack was very thorough and personable in his presentation of both the product, the services offered there, and the long term advantages of owning a new Camry. I left confidant that i would return to Fred Beans as soon as i got my finances in order. I returned 1 week later, asked for Jack, went for a test drive, made a decision on color, and began the process of associated paperwork, etc. I must say that Jack was diligent in the follow up with each department involved in my purchase and made sure i was comfortable and well informed on the process. I would recommend Jack and Fred Beans in a heartbeat!Best experience ever
by taylorslaces on 10/03/2011updated 06/03/2025I had no problems with this dealership. As long as your expectations are in line with reality you shouldn't either. They were very friendly, stuck to their word, and did their jobs. I read some of the other reviews...if you do your research… and stick to your guns you won't have a problem. They are better than most dealerships and I was comfortable and confident in knowing I NEGOTIATED a fair deal.Great experience.
by Todd_x30 on 02/20/2014updated 06/03/2025I found my car on Fred beans Toyota scion website. The car was well represented online. Dave D. was great to work with. by Michele62 on 03/01/2014updated 06/03/2025Buying a car is always a stressful process. However, my salesperson, Jack, was pleasant, polite, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. He made the experience very tolerable. Go to Fred Beans Toyota and ask for Jack! He'll help in any way… he can.Great service
by hybridfan4 on 03/03/2014updated 06/03/2025Jack at Fred Beans was very helpful and got right back to us when we had any questions. He even dealt with our insurance agent when we needed a matter cleared up. Always easy to get ahold of after the sale with any questions.Anne T is an excellent saleswoman
by Gjwstafford on 03/04/2014updated 06/03/2025Anne did a great job selling us our minivan. We were between the Toyota sienna and another minivan. After test driving the sienna and working with Anne it made the decision quite easy. Anne knows her facts, had a pleasant demeanor and was… undoubtedly a great saleswoman.Great Experience w/ Anne T.

Anne T. was extremely helpful in my leasing process and has been helpful ever since. I would… recommend her and the dealership to anyone looking for a new car.
