Bait-and-Switch
by wmd173 on 02/24/2017I visited Fred Beans Toyota to look at two late model used cars, both of which included sunroofs according to the listing placed by the dealership. After my 1 hour and 40 minute ride to get there I discovered that neither car had a sunroof.… When I brought this to the salesman's attention and produced a copy of the ad he replied, "I don't know, I didn't write the ad." Searching through other sources I found these same cars listed, not only with sunroofs included in the description but also with remote starters. I also asked about the remote starters during my visit, neither of the cars included those either. The people I dealt with at Fred Beans I found to be dishonest and clearly using bait-and-switch tactics...buyer beware.Excellent Salesman David Sanchez
by Chasedrgc1223 on 05/25/2016Had an excellent experience buying a new car. The dealership staff was exceptionally polite and helpful, and David was able to work with me to fit my needs. I had an issue with the vehicle a couple days later, and David was incredibly… helpful and got me into service the very next day. The lounge is also very nice!Best Car Buying Experience to Date
by adesantis7 on 05/02/2016Dave Duda was the most helpful sales consultant i've dealt with to date. He was knowledgeable and made the process of getting me into my new tacoma a breeze. Ive already recommended him and FredBeans to a dozen family and friends. Thanks… again Dave!DO NOT BUY AT FRED BEANS
by RSP55 on 08/11/2015Sales staff were incompetent and manipulative. They didn't have the 4Runner I wanted in stock, so they said they would work on getting it. I had to follow up with them frequently. I waited for weeks with no communication from the… dealership. I randomly drove past the dealership on my way home from vacation, and to my surprise the vehicle I had been asking for was sitting right out in front! I called them the next day and the guy casually told me that they had just recently got the vehicle in stock (thanks for keeping me informed). We then started to talk numbers. On three different occasions over the next week or so, the salesman made offers in email, then retracted them claiming that they were errors. The guy was clearly lying, trying to bait me into coming to the dealership for fake offers. They frustrated me to the point that they have lost a customer for life.Best car buying experience
by paula71 on 06/23/2015Dave Duda helped me find the perfect car. I never felt pressured, Dave was patient and really listened to my needs. Thanks Dave.Excellent Salesman by the name of Dave Duda
by shahwindsor on 06/10/2015updated 06/22/2015Dave Duda, was very helpful, honest, and fair. The dealership had the best pricing for a 2012 Limited HL with low mileage in all of Central Jersey. The negotiating process was very smooth and Dave was able to meet us halfway on an… "out-the-door" price we were wanted to pay. The overall experience was excellent, they have a great team and Dave is honestly the best of the bunch. I suggest anyone to ask for his name if you plan to visit the dealership in Flemington, NJ.Outstanding Salesperson Andrew J. Gamble
by bbrecht1 on 03/10/2015My experience buying my current vehicle could not have been easier. My salesperson Andrew J. Gamble of Fred Beans Dealership in Flemington, NJ was very knowledgeable and helpful during the entire process. I explained my needs to Andrew… along with my budget and I drove off the same day. He walked me through the loan process and was able to qualify me for an affordable monthly payment. I highly recommend Andrew J. Gamble to make what can be a confusing process quite easy.Very Impressed
by MichaelVM on 09/30/2014I never would have thought that we could actually have a terrific experience buying a car. I had looked at a pre-owned 4Runner that Fred Beans of Flemington had on the lot. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I sent the… Manager, Brad a note and told him what I was looking for, that I was pre-approved for a loan, etc. About a week later he calls me personally that he has a 4Runner similar in most ways to the one I had looked at, 3rd row seating, moon roof, etc., that had just come off of a lease, and he was calling me first to come take a look at it. It was perfect except for a little crack on the rear bumper, they pledged to have repaired. I had "special needs" with regards to configuring the vehicle, and they were fabulous. I was pre-approved with my own bank but their finance guy ran some numbers in 20 minutes and got me a better deal that saved me $700 over the course of the loan. Mark P, the sales guy was awesome, and I actually missed him after the car was purchased, and the minor repair made a few weeks later, perfectly and with no headaches at all. A great experience all around, and would unquestionably give them our next automotive business.Worst Car Buying Experience Ever
by lacrosse293 on 09/19/2010Several years ago, I purchased a Cadillac from this dealer's used car department, via an auction they had posted on eBay. While the car itself was quite nice and is still a gem, the process I had to endure to get the car was horrific and… now, after a friend of ours had a recent, similar experience trying to purchase from James (despite our warnings) I felt it appropriate to post a review to help other buyers avoid an awful car buying experience. I found the Cadillac while searching eBay one evening and since James Toyota is so close to our home, I thought I'd give the car serious consideration. I drove to the dealer and the car was on the lot for $17,999. It was listed on eBay with a starting price of $10,700, and no reserve. I thought the auction price was worthwhile since the trade-in value on the car was $11,500! We arrived at the dealer on a Tuesday night, so business was slow, and a saleswoman approached us and answered our questions and helped us to test drive the vehicle. Following the test drive, she invited us to her desk to talk numbers. Of course, we weren't going to deal then and there since the auction had 3 days until it ended. She called the sales manager over after not getting anywhere with us and he started his routine on what we wanted to pay, etc. He asked point blank, "What would you think was a fair price to pay?" We said, considering the auction price, $12,000. He burst out laughing and said, "If this chair didn't have arms, I'd be on the floor." He proceeded to get up and said, "When you're ready to deal let us know." We left, thinking the saleswoman who seemed embarrassed by the managers behavior. She was, in the end, very professional and the only bright side to this ordeal. So, the auction ended with us being the high, and only, bidder with a sale price of $10,700. Remember the car was for sale on the lot with a price of $17,999 - so we felt we got a great deal. We emailed the dealer through eBay to say we won and to get instructions on how to take delivery of the car. The same manager that had laughed at us at the dealership earlier in the week replied promptly, forgetting who I was of course, and said that he could meet us the following Monday evening to get the car. I told him we were paying with a check and asked if he would like us to send it in advance so that it would have time to clear. He said not to worry and that James Toyota trusted all their clients! We could bring the check with us when we came to get the car. Monday evening rolled around and we arrived at the dealer. The saleswoman greeted us and took us to the manager's office. He stood up and said, "Oh I remember you so you've come back to make a deal on the Cadillac - well, it's too late - I already sold it!" I replied, "I know, I'm the one who purchased it on eBay!" This put him on the defensive and it was all down hill from here. He sent us to his finance department where they accepted our check but immediately started with questions such as, "What bank is this?; Why isn't your address correct? (the zip code was missing the extra 4 digits); You will have to complete a credit application!"; and so on. I refused to complete the application and said that they could take a day or two to cash the check and we would come back when it cleared. After sitting in the finance office for at least 20 minutes, being made to feel like criminals, they came back and said they would accept the check and we could have the car. This was totally unnecessary as I am sure they have several means of verifying that a check is good. We also offered to pay with our American Express card, but they refused to accept credit cards as payment. As we completed the paperwork, the finance manager's tone changed as he tried to sell us various after market warranties. We politely refused them, as the Cadillac still had much of the manufacturers warranty in effect. This made the finance manager grouse more and he shuffled paperbuying experience was very Intimidating
by bloreboy on 06/09/2010I bought my 2nd car in last 3 years from this dealership and had the worst buying experience in my life. I trusted this dealership when I walked in for 2nd time, but walked out by totally getting ripped off. They never valued my loyalty.… They do not recognize the value of a repeat customer. They care less for customer satisfaction. Every (sales, finance, service etc) person in this dealership is arrogant, never talk to people politely. The whole buying experience was very intimidating. The sales guy doesn't know anything about the car nor features available in the vehicle. I asked him the following questions and here is the answers: Q1. I test drove a van and during negotiations I asked if I can select a different model or color in the van segment. Response: No. I should buy the van that I test drove and I should go with the same color of the test driven van, instead of my own choice of color. This is kinda forcing me to buy something that I don't want. As I said it was very intimidating. Q2. I asked help to program my garage door opener and also question about Aux output in the audio system. Response: The sales guy said he will help me, then when I asked him to program he started reading the manual and finally he said he has not seen a garage door remote, so that he cannot program it. Regarding the playing songs from my ipod/iphone on the audio system, there was a Error code in the radio and this sales guy says he has no clue about it and I am on my own to resolve it. He cannot help. When I got the van, they just gave me the keys and said the car is somewhere in the parking lot. They never walked through the vehicle, never explained any features in the car (for which I had to read through the manual and learn about the features), there was no proper hand off of the vehicle. The price quoted was horribly expensive, never explained to me about the break-up of price etc. Finance department is horrible, arrogant here. They are not transparent in their dealing, always twist numbers while presenting to customers and they do not explain any numbers properly. They run my credit report without even asking me about it (even though I had my own finance). When I asked them to give my credit report, they denied very rudely. People, whoever wants to go to this dealership, please thing twice. Do your research and homework. My purchase of 2010 Rav 4 at James Toyota Scion
by vagawane on 03/29/2010I am very pleased to write about my purchase of 2010 Rav 4 at James Toyota Scion in flemington, NJ. The entire purchase procedure was very smooth with my Sales guy Robin Everett providing me gr8 support and help at all levels. I also… was very pleased at the attention given to me for all paperwork regarding my trade-in and the pay back to the lein holder. Thanks James Toyota and Robin Everett for doing a professional job. by kalwin on 12/11/2009Jeremiah J. Hupka was my salesman at James Toyota. I would like to show my appreciation to him by writing this review. I have to tell you it as a real pleasure to do business with him and his dealership. It was not the usual pushy sales… guy. I knew what I wanted and how much it would cost me. When my truck arrived, I simply in no time drove down there, examined my new vehicle, paid and signed some papers and hit the road again. I wasn't asked to buy anything extra and there were no last minute surprises. Once again thanks a lot Jeremiah and God bless you. Peter KrolikowskiJames Toyota got the job done
by re3 on 11/07/2009I was very satisfied with the attention I received at James Toyota. Jeremiah Hupka was an excellent sales consultant. He found the color and model of Prius I wanted very quickly and helped with all aspects of the purchase. I drove a few… extra miles to James Toyota (after an unhelpful experience with a nearby dealer) and it was worth the time. I highly recommend them.Fun Sales Experience
by intorelli on 11/05/2009We had been driving by James Toyota for a few months, stopping every once in awhile to check out their inventory, then finally stopping to just test drive a few different RAV4 models to help us make our final decision. Russel Hill was so… nice and helpful that we could not help but to walk out with a new RAV4 instead of just test driving them. We are so very pleased with our experience with Russel and James Toyota that we plan on buying our next truck from Russel.I bought my car here
by jerseylover on 10/28/2009There was zero pressure the second I walked in the door. My salesman, Colin Lee, was patient, honest, and did whatever he could to satisfy my needs. He had all the answers to any question I asked. I would but another car here in a heart… beat.Purchase of 2009 Toyota Highlander
by mshuts on 10/20/2009I went to James toyota after doing alot of research on the vehicle I wanted (Highlander) and receiving a favorable quote from the salesman. (Jeremiah Hupka) Jeremiah was extremely knowledgable, and freindly, without being over-bearing in… any way. I was impressed with the upfront, honest deal I received and purchased the vehicle that day.lies Deception and More Lies
by acg101 on 08/06/2009We have been buying cars here since they opened their doors. Dont know what happened in the past few years. We were looking to buy a new car 3 months ago but the sales person was telling us that we need to get a 2009 since the 2010 will… be delayed 6 months!!??? we went to [another dealership] and get the car tere with the exact color and options we wanted. Mark, the sales manager is a [violative content deleted]. Dont trust him.James Toyota Total Sales Scam
by consumerbeware on 05/28/2009Not recommended. Very deceptive practice during contract signing. Review all the numbers to make sure it matches what you've been quoted before signing. They try to put me on a higher interest rate than from what I have spent hours on… negotiating with the sales group. I am in the process of filing a formal complaint at NJ Dept of Consumers Affairs (5/27/2009).Totally ignored & misled!
by mglaur on 02/01/2009Not only were we made to wait several times and left to sit watching a stupid movie-"Groundhog Day" but we were given the cold shoulder since we had no appt. After test driving we asked to see the truck in our preferred color and were told… to walk to one point in the lot and then when the salesman drove by to park the truck we drove he told us to go to the northern point of the lot to see the truck as he was mistaken of it's location-here we were looking for a vehicle in a packed lot at @24 degrees and windy! Couldn't he have driven us there?! When he finally sat us down with us we were told they didn't have exactly what we wanted so he tried to sell us a couple of packages we didn't want!?!$$?! He walked away again to another client then came back with no more info. as he had given us a 2008 brochure...this is Jan. 31 they had none for 2009?! He insulted us by saying that the ipod features baffle older people (like us I'm sure) and that he's up on that kind of technology since he's under 30-that was a turnoff! I have an ipod and my husband does computer work!! He kept trying to sell us a tow hitch which we told him we didn't need-he wouldn't budge! Then when I saw the price I was shocked and confused...it wasn't until I got online that I realized he was also trying to sell us the SR5 pkg. @ $1300. more!! The thing that ended our session was when he started bragging about how he's the best car salesmen and all the awards he's received for selling cars...we didn't care, we weren't impressed-that certainly made us feel like a number instead of a client with needs and questions. From Horror To Heaven
by jerzeedad2 on 09/20/2008I went from horror to heaven at James Toyota. I originally went to another Toyota dealer for a 2008 Sienna (LE edition) because of the financing special that Toyota was offering. I understood that it was down to whatever was left of the… 08's and we might have to "locate" a car. I put $200.00 down as a deposit for a car that the dealer found for me. To make a long story short the deal went horribly sour. I decided to go almost 1 hr. west of my home to James Toyota. Boy am I glad I did!!! I talked to Anna in internet sales and she hooked me up with their salesman Dean. I told Dean what I was looking for and he found me a few to choose from right away. I offered him a price and he actually gave me a price lower than my lowest offer! The sales manager Doug had the swap manager Keith jump right on it. They got my car in the next day. Dean called me with the bad news that the car was not up to their standards(the paint was damaged). I thought"here we go again" but that's not what happened. They found me another car that was just to my liking and we again agreed to a great price.I picked it up today and my wife is very happy with it. I can't say enough about this dealership and the people that work there. They made my buying experience a very pain-free one!!! I would not hesitate to purchase there again!! I would give them 5 stars in a heart beat.I didn't buy after all, but timely refund received.
by iuseedmunds on 08/18/2008I placed a deposit on a Prius w. 3-4 month delivery expected. (other dealers were saying up to 6 mos). 4 weeks later I received a call that the car was in, however, it wasn't until this point that I was informed that a price increase had… occurred a few weeks earlier. The car also had a few extras and the total additional cost was to be $637. I knew the cars were in demand but a price increase at the end of a model year added to higher transport cost plus the extras was not acceptable to me. I took a day to shop elsewhere and found a non-hybrid car that I was very happy with and purchased it. I notified James Toyota, reminding the salesperson that I had specifically stated that I didn't want any surprises and that he had quoted an "out-the-door" price. Perhaps, had I been notified of the increased price and shipping charges when they occurred, I would have been able to digest them. In any event, the salesperson apologized and my refund was processed. I received a receipt in the mail a few days later and the refund was credited to my account a few days after that. To James Toyota's credit, they did have a Prius available sooner than expected, weren't responsible for Toyota's price changes, apologized for poor communication and sent a timely refund. (I became very worried reading some of the other reviews here). Although I did not buy a car from them, they are probably not happy to have to resell it, and it was probably a disappointing transaction for both parties. All things considered, I would recommend them. To explain my Buying Process rating- the entire process was conducted by internet, mail and phone. I was familiar with the car and didn't need to see or drive before ordering. I was avoiding entering a dealership until picking up a car and this was possible, even though I backed out of the deal in the end.
