  • Internet Sales Highly Recommended at Jim Trenary in O'Fallon

    5 out of 5 starsby Internet_Dan on 09/10/2014

Don H. was very helpful in assisting us with the vehicle we came to purchase. Mike F. streamlined the paperwork process by recommending the specific options most relevant to our car purchase.
  • My first new car

    5 out of 5 starsby tbryant64 on 09/05/2014

For me it's a happy and sad story at the same time. I came in Saturday Aug 30th to buy my first new car ever. I had the funds to do so due to the death of my partner. Shorty before she became ill we were looking to buy a new car, but then when she got sick we put it on hold. Six weeks later she was gone, but made sure with a life insurance policy that I would be taken care of and that I could get the new car I so needed. Always in the past I had bought a used car and have found good ones for sure, but because of your bonuses and discounts I was able to buy my first brand new car ever. My sales guy Kevin B. is not only friendly and sweet but went the extra mile to help me achieve this dream and was even more excited then I when he found out this was my first new car. I can't say enough about Kevin and have already started spreading the word where family and friends should shop for their next new car and who's the man to see. Thanks again Kevin you rock!
  • Trenary rocks

Had a tire that would slowly leak or the PSI monitor would come on with no leak seen. Finally they figured out that there was a chunk of metal in the sidewall--unfortunately that meant a new tire but they got it changed pretty quickly after they realized what was going on.
  • Jim Trenary Chevrolet (O'Fallon, MO) service visit

    5 out of 5 starsby DonB116 on 07/12/2014

Had my 2014 Stingray in for service to fix the A/C and rear weather stripping on back hatch. Considering the amount of vehicles in the service department for recalls, my vehicle was in and out in a short amount of time. The staff was friendly and the dealership had a clean and pleasant atmosphere. :)
  • Superior Service

It was a pleasant experience. I had to take my car in for a recall replacement on my car. Everyone I encountered was very nice and helpful. I especially liked the fact I could drop my car off early in the morning and they had arranged to take me to work.

  • Sales Review

    2.6 out of 5 starsby anniemac1 on 07/19/2010

I apologize for making Jim Trenary's first review a negative one, but having been a customer of both the Sales and Service departments, I felt like I should review my experience. Sales In October 2007, I made my very first car purchase from Jim Trenary. Being new to buying autos, I also bought an extended warranty. If I had brought my parents or another experienced person, I probably would not have opted for this, seeing as it has not provided any tangible use. While I understand the nature of sales departments in any industry, I now feel as though I was not provided with ample information regarding the nature of the warranty, and was therefore taken advantage of.
  • Service

    1 out of 5 starsby anniemac1 on 07/19/2010

Service In the 3 years since I purchased my vehicle, it has exhibited the following issues/required the following repairs: * New tires, which were not covered by the extended warranty (Thanks, AutoTire!). * New brakes; thankfully, my father taught me how to change them. * Broken gas cap, a minor but aggravating issue which was also not covered by the ext. warranty. * Finally, a broken bolt caused a seat belt to loosen and eventually fall out completely. The seat belt, maybe more than anything, was not caused by any accident or abuse, just normal wear and tear. In fact, it seemed like a defect of the car. Because of my previous inquiries about what was covered by my warranty, I wanted to make sure that the seat belt was, actually, covered. I also live 45 minutes away and had to coordinate with a friend to drive. Basically, I wanted to make the trip worth the time, effort, and inconvenience. When I called, the service department assured me that it was covered and encouraged me to bring it in. Included in the package I picked up at the after-hours key drop was a form with a huge checkbox asking, "Do you want us to call with an estimate before service?" Naturally, I checked 'Yes.' When the Trenary Service Dept. called me in the morning with news that my warranty was no longer valid because of mileage, I was understandably frustrated. There was no mention of mileage in my initial conversation with them, just assurance that the car was still covered. When I explained that, under said circumstances, I would not be requiring the seat belt repair, I was hit with a $40.00 labor fee for the glance they took at the belt. That was the final straw. I will no longer patronize Jim Trenary because they charged $40.00 to look at a problem my five year old niece could have identified. The mechanic sat on my leather seat and looked at the seat belt and maybe he even stuck his hand in between the seat and console. When I requested a better explanation of the charge, or why I hadn't been notified of my warranty issue prior to receiving the charge, I was told that the service tech had to look at the seat belt before he could call to find out the warranty had expired. Please note that the invalidity of the warranty was independent of the repair. When one goes to a Service department, especially at the dealership where they purchased their vehicle, they expect just that - service. Not only was I fed conflicting and misleading information, I was charged for labor when, essentially, none occurred.

Jim Trenary is a great place to buy your next Chevy - we have bought three from there and have all three still. The sales staff is very approachable and friendly.

I dealt with Eric on the Trenary website before going to the dealership, and he sent all the info anyone would need to help make the car buying decision easier. He was fun to deal with in person when we test drove cars and did the negotions on price and trade in.

I send an email request, late one evening, for more information on the 2012 Equinox that I saw online. I received a response from Kevin B. the next morning and later that afternoon the vehicle was mine! I had a great experience at Jim Trenary and I owe that to Kevin! Thank you for making me feel comfortable spending a lot of money. Seriously! I've already told others of my experience there and will continue! I'm so excited about my new car that I'm trying to think of places I need to go!
  • horrible dealership

Dealing with Jim Trenary, the sales manager in particular, was the worst car buying experience I've ever had without exception. We initially came to a very amicable agreement on the vehicle, price, and trade in value. I felt very good about my experience with our salesman to that point. However, the vehicle had to come from one of their other lots and once it arrived (the process for which didn't even begin until we were sitting in the dealership a second time, waiting...) every single term changed. The price went up, the trade in offer dropped, and, to top it all off, the vehicle they had brought wasn't right! I could have sworn we were secretly in a remake of National Lampoons Vacation. The sales manager seemed utterly indifferent to our dissatisfaction, though, it did seem as though our salesman genuinely wanted to make things right, for all the good it did in the end. If you value your sanity, do not patronize this dealership.
  • Trenary is the best dealership in town

Trenary is the best dealership in town. I went in there and had a great experience with the sales staff and especially Gonzo. They treated me fairly and gave me a great price on my trade-in and an awesome price on the new car as well. I would highly recommend this dealership to family and friends!

I got a quote on line- on the vehicle I wanted, came in and purchased at the price I was quoted (which was the lowest of 3 dealerships) and had a great time there!
  • Great Service, Not-So-Great Afterwards

The service appointment was fine. After picking up my car, I noticed it had a large dent in the wheel well with paint on it. I called, spoke to Mike, went back with my car, and he was very nice about it. I knew the dent was not there when I dropped the car off. Naturally, I am very upset that this would happen to my car while there and dislike the inconvenience of having to have my car back in the shop now to get fixed, but it is what it is and at least Mike is taking care of the situation.

The total overall experience was GREAT! David, our salesman was VERY accommodating and helpful with NO pressure. James, the finance manager was equally as accommodating and helpful. We have family members who recommended David and Jim Trenary. We live in the Florissant area and drove all the way out there because of the recommendation and were not disappointed. We will do again then next time we buy a car.
