John F or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Buy A Car
by austinzimmerma on 09/27/2014About two years ago, from a different dealership, I bought a used car that I thought was perfect for me. It was fast, it looked nice, and according to the guy who sold it to me, it was just within my price range. That was before factoring… in the repairs that I'm almost certain he knew the car would need almost immediately. Two years after buying that car, I'd already spent around $7,000 in repairs and was still $7,500 in the hole on a car worth about $2,000. Having low credit and very little I could use for a down payment, I figured I was stuck paying for a car that wouldn't last one year for another 4 or 5. Now, I met John F outside of the dealership, so when he suggested I come down to see if he could help me out, I figured I might as well. He showed me some cars that might be within my range, and I liked one, so I decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it didn't work out, and I drove off the lot that day in my old, broken car, air conditioning blowing hot air, as if the unnamed salesman from 2 years ago was stuck in my dashboard, laughing at my misfortune. But that unnamed salesman didn't know just how persistent John F could be. For months, and I seriously mean months, he would check all incoming cars to see if they worked for me, and if we could make something work in my budget. He tried new cars, used cars, cars with rebates, cars without. Once or twice, we'd try out cars that were almost certainly out of my range, just because he knew I'd like them, and he wanted to make sure I was happy even if we hadn't found the car for me just yet. I love cars, and I love driving. I was picky, but he kept at it and made sure I was enjoying the experience. And on the 25th of September, we found it. It was luck, really. I came in because he wanted to see if a Mazda 2 had enough rebates to nullify the negative equity on my old car. It didn't, but he went the extra mile, did a bit of that mysterious dealer math, and found that a used car, 2011 or newer, 13,900 or less could probably work for me. And wouldn't you know it, there was a used Chevy Sonic on the lot, a bit under 13K, 24,000 miles. A nimble little manual car, just like I'd wanted and thought was out of my reach. I drove off the lot that day, not in my old, issue ridden car that some unnamed salesman had left me, but in a lovely new (used) car, within my budget, that I honestly liked to drive. My dad, who consigned with me, treated John and I to Whataburger to celebrate the new car, and thank him. It was the very least we could do. This review is one more step to thanking John F for putting in far more effort than I deserved as a customer. Pros of buying a car from John F -He's nice, funny, and honestly works to make the experience entertaining. -He'll work hard to make sure you get a car you like within your budget. -He doesn't let setbacks set him back. -Honestly, I can't stress the persistent thing enough. He spent MONTHS working with me. Cons of buying a car from John F -If you're there in the afternoon, his desk faces the setting sun. It's very bright. -That's it. That's my only complaint. What more do you want from me?Amazing car buying experience
by Jbpollock on 09/12/2014We had an incredible car buying experience. Everyone was honest, respectful, and straightforward. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Robert was our contact and fully knowledgeable and very friendly. We would highly… recommend Cardinale Mazda!!!Best car buying experience ever
by mazdalover5 on 06/15/2014After 4 days of horrendous, sleazy experiences with 4 other dealerships, I came all the way across town because of Cardinale's good reviews. And I wasn't disappointed! Though they didn't have the Mada 3 model I wanted, they made such a good… deal on a newer model - one which I thought would never be in my budget - that I couldn't refuse. Unlike all the other dealerships, they didn't play games with the price, they didn't make me sit and stew for hours, and there were no surprises or add-ons. Plus, their extended warranty package was less expensive than anywhere else. These guys are the real deal! The owners used to work for the "bad guys," so they are passionate about creating an honest, fair, and enjoyable experience for car buyers. And they did just that!Biddulph Mazda
by adollar5 on 05/28/2009I drove in from the internet department, car was ready. My credit was not the best but drove off in a preowned car. The people there was nice, not a long time in the finance department but the delivery time was long due to cleaning again. I… will go back again and deal with these people on a new car. The internet department saleperson was fast in helping get financing. The service manager help with my return visit. I never write about a dealership, But I needed help and these folks went out of their way to get me a car.Service Review
by brnz1 on 09/07/2012updated 06/01/2025Zenus is the best service advisor I have ever worked with. He is very professional and explains things so I can understand. There is a Mazda dealer right around the corner from where I live but I will drive out of the way to work with… Zenus.Second Purchase - looking forward to the Third!
by vlugo1300 on 03/13/2014updated 06/01/2025We had dropped off our Mazda 3 for some maintenance and started browsing around looking at the new Mazda 6. Luke came out and greeted us and he was extremely patient and friendly as we started looking over vehicle after vehicle - even… though we had told him we were just looking - he never rushed us or seemed to mind at all. Luke let us look over several cars and walked around with us and we even did a test drive. We then asked him to look into the numbers to see about trading in our 3 for the 6 - just out of curiosity. We were expecting some outrageous numbers and to our surprise the hard work of Luke, as well as Bob in finance, everything worked out above our expectations and we drove home with a new Mazda 6! For the last couple years this dealership has been great to go to for new vehicle purchases and for maintenance. I want to thank Carlos - Bob - Luke - John. I originally bought my Mazda 3 from Carlos in 2012 at this dealership - he was awesome! Shortly after I suffered from a rare neurological disease that left me partially handicapped. However, every time I brought in my 3 for service John was outstanding at helping me! The purchase of the Mazda 6 is a HUGE assist with my disability - the blind spot monitoring - the rear camera - this vehicle and this dealership have gone above and beyond all expectations! I don't think I can praise this dealership and employees enough - Luke and Bob - a Big Thank You with this recent purchase. I look forward to our third purchase from you!Excellent experience at Cardinale Way Mazda Peoria
by phoenixdan on 02/02/2014updated 06/01/2025Just wanted to say what a great experience I had purchasing a car at Cardinale Mazda Peoria. I had researched what car I wanted for months leading up to the purchase. I knew what color I wanted and their website showed one on the lot. I… went Friday evening and spoke with Austin (sales manager) about the car. He had Sam (salesman) walk the lot with me until we the found the car I was looking for. Looked over and then went inside to discuss the sale. Austin hit me with an offer I seriously would be stupid to refuse. Between my trade in offer and the sale price of the car, I got everything I wanted. I couldn't complete the transaction that night and asked Austin if he would honor the dealer in the morning. Without hesitation, he said yes. I showed up the next morning and the car I wanted was waiting up front. Sam met me as soon as I pulled in and we finalized the deal. Austin had kept his word and the deal from the previous night was still valid. Sam was professional and easy to work with. He worked quickly to get the paper work filled out and explain everything as he went along. Payment went smoothly and I was in my new car in under 3 hours. Keep up the excellent work and thanks for the positive experience.CardinaleWay Mazda Rocks!!
by laura60 on 07/30/2012updated 06/01/2025I was reluctantly looking to purchase a new vehicle. I say reluctantly because my past experiences at dealerships were nothing short of horrific. That is, until I came to CardinaleWay Mazda! Absolutely amazing experience from the time I… stepped onto the lot until I drove it off. Friendly, no pressure sales, relaxed and truly the best expierence I have ever had all around with a dealership. I thought I was going to be a forever FORD girl...NOT ANY MORE!!!! MAZDA!! FOREVER AND FOREVER!!! Patrick and Johnny and your finance manager were FANTASTIC!!! I loved you all so much I sent my mom to see you!!! I highly reccomend this dealership for any and all future vehicle purchases!! Thank you so much for who you are and what you did for me and my family!!!!!Back on the Road
by kruffcorn on 04/13/2013updated 06/01/2025The power steering was out on my Mazda RX-8. I was able to easily schedule an appointment with the service department for the next day. Zenus was prepared for me when I arrived to leave my car. He kept me informed of the mechanics findings… and the price of repairs. The car was repaired that day and finished when promised. I was only mildly disappointed that the mechanic didn't check out the fluids, tires, brakes, and systems when he had my car in the service pit, and my car wasn't washed. In previous visits both of these actions were accomplished.Great Dealership!
by coloradofam on 08/29/2012updated 06/01/2025We live in Colorado but found that we could get a much better deal buying a car from Cardinale Way Mazda in Peoria than from our local dealers. They exceeded our expectations with the price they offered. Jason Wooch from Internet Sales… offered us a better deal than we were hoping for. Greg Cabuslay was fantastic with sharing his knowledge and expertise, and showed us many of the car's features and how to operate them. He was very helpful and was better than any salesman we've ever worked with. Josh Haskins found money to help the deal work for us. We financed our car through Mazda Capital Services at a very reasonable rate, but just received a letter that they were lowering our interest rate to 0%! We love our car, and this experience has been a terrific one. We HIGHLY recommend Cardinale Way. Make sure to ask for Greg!Great experience and great price!
by mcconway on 10/19/2013updated 06/01/2025I had a wonderful experience at the Cardinale Way Mazda dealership. Everyone I worked with went up and beyond to work with my tight budget and get me the greatest car possible. They explained all of the details and were patient through all… of my questions. They were not too pushy either but were definitely very encouraging. Carlos even said he would teach me to drive a manual car. Quality of service was unparalleled. Absolutely fantastic.Exceptional Dealership!
by jyo8 on 06/29/2013updated 06/01/2025CardinaleWay Mazda at Peoria is the best Mazda dealership in town!! I worked with Bob L and he was absolutely amazing. He returned my calls immediately and through each step of my purchase he went above and beyond to explain everything and… make sure I knew the details involved. The General Manager, Donny M, worked with us through the entire process and put forth incredible effort to get my financing approved and the best interest rate possible. They were family oriented and everyone there was so friendly and helpful. This dealership is a true representation of what it should be like to purchase a vehicle. I highly recommend CardinaleWay Mazda in Peoria!!Exceptional Attention During Memorial Day Weekend Sale
by whi1955 on 05/26/2014updated 06/01/2025I was really amazed at the high level of personal attention I received at every level of the purchasing process at the dealership on Saturday of the busy Memorial Day weekend (2014). An online query that morning resulted in a prompt return… call from Frank S, sales manager. When I got to the dealership, I was greeted by Daisha D, who found Frank for me, and she was designated as my sales person. Other staff reviewed my trade-in vehicle while Daisha let me test drive the car I was interested in. Daisha found answers to my list of questions, and negotiations were polite and low-key without any real pressure. Robert W in Finance was knowledgeable and professional and the trade-in/purchase paperwork was completed quickly. I don't think I spent more than 4 hours at the dealership. Buyers, remember to have your title with you if trading in, and check your insurance card to be sure it is current to help the process go as smoothly as possible. Thanks to Daisha for getting me over the insurance card hurdle. Kudos to the Cardinale Way Mazda sales team for providing professional, pleasant, outstanding attention during the busiest sales weekend of the year, 5 out of 5 stars given!Zenus takes excellent care of my car
by jje3 on 02/23/2013updated 06/01/2025Zenus is very personable. He listens closely and has always resolved immediately any problems I brought to his attention. Besides that, he is likeable and polite. There are places closer to my house where I could go for service but I stick… with Cardinale Way Mazda because of Zenus.Great Experience!
by robyn8 on 12/16/2013updated 06/01/2025Upon my arrival I was greeted immediately by the friendly staff. I did not have to wait, my sales consultant, Eddie O, started showing me cars I was interested in. He was thorough about the details of the cars and explaining the different… options that were available. I received more for my trade-in than I thought I would get and I told him where I wanted my monthly payment to be and they got me that within $5.00! Very impressive!Great ethical salesman and dealership
by kelly84 on 12/30/2012updated 06/01/2025I was very pleased with Bob and his ethical way of dealing with me. I HATE buying new cars but was very pleased with my experience with him and this dealership. I did not end up buying a car from him as they did not have the color… combination I wanted (but did get it via their sister location) yet that did not deter him from treating me with respect and well. His main concern was my happiness and well-being. KellyGreat Service!
by jilllr on 08/05/2012updated 06/01/2025I brought my car in to have them look at an issue with it being shaky around 50mph. They were extremely helpful and friendly the entire time. Chris came right away and explained what they were going to do to check the problem. The work was… done in a timely manner and the car drove GREAT after they fixed it. I could tell it was very important to them that they solved my problem and made sure I was satisfied with the work they did. Great dealership and also a great service shop!Great sales experience
by Tiopcop1006 on 11/21/2013updated 06/01/2025I was approached by Bob when I began looking at vehicles. I knew next to nothing about Mazdas and he was extremely helpful in explaining the ins and outs of the Mazdas. I had equity in the '13 Ford F150 I was driving; but after 10,000 miles… was tired of filling up the 38 gallon fuel tank, even though the vehicle was averaging 19 town & 23-25 on straight roads, unheard of mileage for a P/U. But I also had to 'climb' uphill to get inside the STX 4X4 at my advanced age -- and I HATED the Insync system, which in the six months I owned it, never once followed my voice command and dialed a right number. I was on my way to Ford to trade the P/U. The '14 Mazda had caught my eye in a magazine ad and when I began to go past this dealership, I saw it in person and never made it to Ford. I surveyed internet sources for trade-in values and the best out-the-door price for a Mazda 6i Touring. Everyone at Cardinaleway was friendly and polite, including the owner who happened to be in town and got involved in getting me a good trade-in value! First time that has ever happened in 60 years of buying vehicles. Tim worked diligently at getting me the best finance rate available at my current credit score. I went home with a '14 6i Touring and plan to live happily ever after. I highly recommend this dealership and the Mazda. I always thought of Mazda as a quirkly little vehicle that had an engine that somehow went around in circles. After just two days of driving, I know better. Good value for the cost of the vehicle and great service is what you can expect from Bob and the dealership. My thanks go to them for their assistance in helping me get into this beautiful vehicle.Great Dealership
by jlauzon on 06/15/2012updated 06/01/2025Carlos is a warm, friendly, and honest salesman. There was no pressure and he worked as hard as he could to get us the best deal. My husband and I were in the market for 6 months before we decided on our purchase. Cardinale Mazda was by far… the most professional, well rounded dealership!Excellent service and great prices.
by sandicraig on 12/02/2013updated 06/01/2025We drove 3.5 hours to go to this dealership based on the customer service my son received on the phone with Bill. He conducted himself with entigerty and professionalism. We will be referring friends & family that are ever in need of a new… vehicle. Thanks so much Bill!!The Best Dealership Ever
by mazdaman13 on 12/15/2013updated 06/01/2025We purchased out first car from this dealership...and this salesman...seven years ago. We have since purchased 5 cars, both new and used, from them. Bill L is my "go to" sales rep whenever we are in need of a car. He doesn't just sell cars.… He builds relationships, learning exactly what we like and what we don't. He doesn't waste our time trying to sell us cars that don't suit us, and he always works hard to achieve a price that is within our budget. He has become a friend, as well as a salesman. The service department at Cardinale Way is the best. The work is always right on, and there is no upsell or attempts to do work that isn't needed. They are honest at priced competitively, and when you make an appointment, they keep it. I have been buying cars for fifty years and have never experienced a dealership, or a sales rep, that I actually looked forward to visiting.
--THE CARDINALEWAY
In developing our founding commitment ( The CardinaleWay ), we selected key words that are as meaningful to you as they are to our mission. One of those is "relationship." With every introduction, we are looking, not for a single transaction, but to "develop" a relationship with our customers...not just a good relationship, but an "outstanding" relationship that will outlast your car.
Another key element is that "everybody wins". In a time when most people believe winners create losers, we endeavor to satisfy everybody involved. It means knowing our product well and our customer even better. It means listening and caring and understanding that people buy their second-most expensive item from people they trust.
Whether you are a car enthusiast, or you just need a reliable ride, the right car for you means buying exactly what you need and ideally what you want.
