  • A happy car buying day

    4.5 out of 5 starsby katfish608 on 09/19/2008

I set out on a beautiful Saturday morning with a little trepidation. I was buying a car! I was excited to make the purchase, but nervous at the same time to go through the whole car buying process. I brought my brother along to help me, to stick to the price I could afford and have someone there to look out for me. I walked into Klein Honda and was pleasantly suprised by how painless the process was. Every person we came in contact with was very friendly and I truly felt as though they were looking out for me and trying to get me the best deal they could. Sean Green, who helped me, was so excited about finding the perfect car for me. His excitment was infectious. By the time I left I couldn't get the smile off my face. I love my car! I will definitely go back to Klein's.
  • Great Service and Great People

[violative content deleted] The staff are very courteous, friendly, and warming. You have to know what vehicle you want to purchase before you enter a dealership and I actually entered with a bit of confusion on what car to settle on. Eventually, it came down to reliability and the "right feeling". You don't choose the car, the car chooses their drivers. I test drove a few cars on the lot, after much pondering and debate, I ended up with a Beautiful 2007 Honda Civic Si, top of the line model. Thank you to the staff for a great experience and quick deal!
  • Poor business ethics

2.3 out of 5 starsby tyghor on 08/10/2008

Manipulative, evasive when questioned. Do not consider this dealership unless you know what you are doing. Salesmen and mgmt will twist the truth to their advantage and even lie to you to close a sale. we ended up consulting a lawyer after the dealership would not honor the contract that they signed. Dealership caved once they found out we were talking with our lawyer. Seems they knew they wouldn't have had a chance if thee had been a filing against them.
  • Horrible Dealership!!!!

Don't waste your valuable time by even setting foot in this dealership. The salesmen are dishonest and arrogant, and worst of all, they seem to have the attitude that the "customers" are lucky to even be given the time of day!! They wasted a whole afternoon of our time, going round and round with numbers, playing games and finally we walked out disgusted and disappointed. The entire time we were there, we did not see anyone being properly greeted, the atmosphere was cold and uninviting, the salesman all had there noses so high up in the air, it was just shocking really. • We are a younger couple and I wonder if this has something to do with the dichotomy of experiences. Young couples are met with arrogance and manipulation while they treat older customers with more respect. I hear from lots of people ('older') that Klein is a great dealership but our experience with them was so poor (highly questionable sales tactics which led to preliminary legal action against the dealership) that we will not be buying from them.

  • Pleasant experience

I contacted 4 Honda dealerships via Edmunds for e-quotes for an '08 Pilot. I decided to visit two of them (the two that were willing enough to exchange a few emails) and Klein was first on the list. We arrived a couple days later and met the internet salesman I had "spoken" with earlier (one of three that they have, as of early 2008). I came armed with a properly serviced and full-detailed trade-in which was in great shape, along with it's BlueBook value. I also had a ConsumerReports new car price guide for the Pilot. I was only interested in paying about 1K over invoice, and the salesman seemed receptive to the idea. While the initial quote for the trade-in was a bit lower than we wanted, they were willing to bump it up to a satisfactory level (when we mentioned we would be shopping around, and since it was in such great shape). We got our deal in place, they even offered a few features for free, paid cash, and left. Overall, it was one of the easiest, quickest (2.5hrs), and most pleasant car-buying experiences I've had. Contrary to the other reviewer here, I would recommend this dealership through it's internet sales department (although keep in mind that there are 3 internet salesmen).

When searching for a vehicle for my kids, I used edmunds.com as a tool shop for prices and availability. I did not want to waste my or the dealer's time therefore was very clear with all dealers that responded. I dealt with one dealer at a time based on who responded first, second, third, etc. and gave each dealer the same opportunity to earn my business. The first dealer to respond was not willing to accept my offering price for the vehicle and wanted for my wife and I to personally visit the car lot for negotiations. Fair enough but I was not interested in this approach, no harm done. The second dealer to contact me was the Internet Sales Manager for Klein Honda in Everett (2 hours round trip from my home. Below is the email string: Thanks for your quick response (sales guy). I soon found out that the car is priced over suggested retail due to supply and demand. I would be interested in the black sport model you have but am only willing to pay 17K + lic/taxes. Let know if your interested and I will cut a check to you tomorrow and drive it away. We bought a 2013 Ridgeline Sport model that has already far surpassed our expectations in just one month. We already knew we were happy with Klein Honda (having bought a brand new Fit last year and a used Element the year before). The sales people are super resourceful and fun. We heartily encourage others to try Klein. In the past I bought 6 Hondas from other dealers, and Klein stands out from the rest of the stores I have frequented. Service department rocks, too!

They honored my internet price quote I received from them. At the time they were a lot lower then other Honda dealers. I was expecting the usual back and forth sales tactics, that we all seem to hate when shopping for a vehicle. However, I was stunned when they honored the price on the internet quote. Of course I had to pay the sales tax and license fee, but that is acceptable. The 2 year free service maintenance was a good touch too. I live in Lynnwood, so I can use the free maintenance. Thanks Klein Honda and the sales team for changing my perception of car dealers.

Would rate zero stars if possible. Went in to check out the vehicle intending to purchase. First off, the internet salesperson who contacted me could not remember what I was looking for. After she found my record, she still couldn't figure out the vehicle that we really wanted. When I finally made it clear which vehicle we wanted, she passed me on to another salesperson introducing them as a product specialist. Well, our product specialist could not answer questions about features etc. Got passed to another. This guy was quite the character. After answering a few questions and realizing that we were still trying to figure out what trim level we wanted, he told me that he didn't want to waste out time there. (Isn't it the job of the salesman to help us decide what trim we wanted?) Kept repeating this over and over and finally, i gave up, thanked him and left in a hurry. Went over to the next closest dealer who took the time to explain everything, no pressure at all. Needless to say, we bought our vehicle there. This is the 2nd time I've tried to purchase a vehicle from Klein and same repeated experience. How does Klein stay in business?

This place is horrible and should not be on this premier list. They will not even acknowledge Edmunds.com exists. I have only dealth with Robin and Bebs in their internet department, and they were beyond rude. Robin even dismissed me and said they would not be doing business with me because my offer was too low. Stay away from this place! I was ready to buy a used car from there, and this included a 4 hour drive from Oregon, but never again. Go somewhere else.

I would like to share our experience at Klein Honda in Everett. We purchased a 2009 Honda Civic sight unseen from Ohio. While other dealerships volunteered to handle all the paperwork through the mail via FEDEX, Klein insisted that we come in to the dealership to sign the paperwork in person, even though we sent a cashier's check through the mail a week before we were due to arrive. So they picked us up and drove us up to Everett to the dealership. I was expecting the entire process to take approximately 5-10 minutes since we had already completely paid for the car. I assumed they would have the paperwork all ready for us to sign. However, when we got there we were told that they lost our paperwork. A second person told us that the person that handled our paperwork was not there that day. Another person told me they found our file, finally, and they were giving it to the "business manager." Now get this, over 2 hours later we were finally called in to the "business manager" to sign the papers. However, this "business manager" had no interest or care in how long we had already been sitting at the dealership, he wanted to sell us an extended warranty. Here are his exact words: "the Honda Civic is a hybrid and they have all kinds of problems with their battery and other mechanical issues. Here are the options for purchasing extended warranties." I about fell over. Their salesman did not tell me at all about "battery problems" or "other mechanical issues." I guess that was saved for the one trying to sell us the additional warranty. I explained that the paperwork that should have taken 5 minutes for us to sign had now taken 2 hours, and that we were not interested in paying additional money for additional warranties. He said, "so you're really not afraid of the mechanical issues?" Instead of hitting him, I calmed myself down and simply said "no, I'm interested in leaving your dealership as we have already been here 2 hours for a car that has already been entirely paid for. This paperwork should have been ready and taken us 5 minutes to sign." Needless to say that did not make him happy, but my wife and I were not happy either. Their terrible organization and extreme delay caused us to miss an appointment that we had scheduled. There were no apologies made for the extreme disorganization and very lengthy delay. The car is nice, but suffice it to say, we will never purchase from Klein Honda again. We would encourage you to steer clear of them. Update: on the drive home the "engine" light came on. You mean they did not know about this before they sold me the car? Suffice it to say, I am not taking it back to them for service: it would probably take a month, if they did not lose the car.

I contacted them initially through the internet to get a price on a certified used CR-V that had low miles. Mary responded in about 5 minutes! I wasn't certain I wanted to drive all the way to Everett from Shoreline to look at it and hadn't test driven a CR-V yet so checked one out at a local dealer. When I finally got around to getting up there it was after the quote had expired, but they honored it anyway. I took it for a test drive and told them that I'd take it if they could make it work within my budget. I had already worked it out, but wanted to see if they could get me better financing that what I had already gotten pre approved for. They were really awesome to work with! I had to go with my intuition on this as husband was laid up with back surgery and I was on my own. (he was happy with how I handled it, or at least that's what he told me) After reading a lot of negative reviews about every dealership I was considering; I realized that I was going to have to change my thinking if I was going to have an enjoyable experience. I checked my attitude at the door and I was determined to have a pleasant experience whether I bought a car or not and I was not disappointed! Ken followed me to the rental place 7 miles up the road and I gave him a ride back to the dealership. Thank you to Mary and Ken and Jonathan! I would recommend to a friend. I probably won't haul myself up there for servicing unless I have other business up there.

We test drove a 2011 Accord at this dealer today. The sales guy was very nice but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the car. When we showed interest in purchasing this car, the sales manager came over and was very rude. Right after introducing himself to us we were given the stiff treatment, "Are you going to buy a car today otherwise I don't want to waste my time." Uhh...If we didn't want to buy a car why would we be sitting here asking you what price you can offer us? We don't spend time at car dealerships for enjoyment. The sales manager needs some sensitivity training to learn how to respect his customers. We will make sure to not recommend this place to anymore and they lost out on a cash sale. We will be buying a new car in the next week from someone else.

This car-buying experience was absolutely the best of my life. We were treated with professionalism, courtesy, honesty and great price. Our salesman Mike, was extremely friendly and helpful in explaining all the amenities in my 2012 Honda Accord. We also came into the dealership with limited time to spend looking and knew what we wanted, and Mike found the perfect car for us. No long waiting periods sitting in the waiting room, everything was accomplished in a very short period of time. Make sure you stop in at Klein Honda if you are looking for an excellent buying experience. It made all the difference. I even came back 3 days later to have all the amenities explained when I had more time, and was surprised at how much time that Mike took to show me all the bells and whistles. Thanks Mike, and thanks Klein Honda!

I visited Klein Honda on two occasions the month of January 2011. On the first visit I brought along my daughter for whom I planned to purchase a new car. I met with Jared, and we looked at a number of different vehicles. Afterwards, I thanked him for his time and explained that we would also evaluate other manufacturers - namely Toyota. After kicking a few more tires my daughter decided she liked the Civic the best. So, the following weekend I stopped by Klein again and met with Jared. After brief discussion I made a very reasonable offer, which Jared suggested would not be a problem accommodating. At this point I should mention that each of the last 5 new cars I have purchased I have done so through email. In other words, I was breaking protocol primarily because I thought I had established an adequate relationship with Jared (e.g. he understood price was #1 on my priority list and wouldn't jerk me around). Well, I was completely wrong. After the 3rd back and forth trip to the "sales desk" my patience was fully taxed. On the last trip a sales manager took Jared's place and assumed "negotiation" mode, asking to remove the trunk liner and floor mats. I wasn't looking to negotiate, I was looking for a yes or no - no need to waste my time when I knew I had offered a more than reasonable price given what my research suggested Civics were selling for locally. I politely declined and turned to leave when the sales manager shouted out that we had a deal. Needless to say, I didn't feel "warm and fuzzy" about the prospect of having to deal with Klein in the future to handle service, so I declined again and left. Soon afterwards I contacted several other local dealers via Edmonds.com and within 30 minutes I had an offer literally $1,000 less than my offer to Klein after adjusting for Klein's dealer add-ons. An hour later I had an even better offer which was soon matched by the first. Just to be clear, the ratings I have entered are not a reflection of my work with Jared. I thought Jared was fine to work with, he was just caught in the middle of myself and an excessively greedy sales manager. Oh, and a note to the sales manager - I have decided to buy a second new Honda for myself within the next week or two. Guess where I won't be making my purchase.
    • These jokers have been pulling these stunts for years - must be mandated from the ownership on down through the ranks. Fresh out of college in 1992, my wife and I were considering buying a Civic at Klein Honda. We were cash buyers - our first new car together. After getting the same runaround you described, we walked out and bought a Toyota Tercel at Rodland that afternoon which turned out to be a great little car. In the years since I have purchased three new Hondas - an 03 Odyssey from Olympia Honda, an 05 Pilot from Honda of Seattle, and an 06 CRV from Renton Honda. All three dealers were vastly better than Klein and I would encourage anyone considering a Honda to shop any of those dealers for a much better customer experience.

This past weekend, my wife and I went to Klein Honda in Everett and bought a car. Our experience with the Klein team was EXCELLENT!. They are the most courteous and professional car staff I have had the pleasure to work with. My wife and I shopped online for a car. We had narrowed our search down to a Honda Pilot and requested quotes from prospective dealers. We received an email from Mary M. (KleinHonda Internet Sales) that was gracious and professional. She provided us with a lot of information and was very up front about what to expect with pricing. I was impressed and appreciative with her knowledge and honesty. When we visited the showroom on Saturday (1/11/14), it was a really rainy day and I had hungry children in the car. Mary greeted us with a warm smile and introduced us to Nick D. (Sales) right away. Just like Mary and everyone else we met, he was professional and extremely knowledgeable about his cars. He was easy to talk with and courteous. He was forthright about the Pilot's details and about pricing as well. After walking around a few cars and test driving them, we found our Pilot and worked with Nick and Tim M. (Asst Sales Mgr) on pricing. there was absolutely NO PRESSURE in dealing with the Klein team at all. We talked about the price and found a number that worked for us both. With the help of Josh H. (Used Car Mgr) we were also able to get a VERY FAIR PRICE for our trade in. I had researched the cost of my vehicle before hand on KBB.com (Kelley Blue Book) and KLEIN's number matched. Nick and Tim got us our car and into the Finance Office in no time at all. We worked with Darcee D. (Finance) to get our paperwork done. She was discussed all the options and talked about all the details so we knew what we were getting into. She had a great sense of humor and made the finance process almost fun. The Klein team is an awesome group to work with. Everyone was knowledgeable in their field and provided all the information we needed to make our decision. They were upfront about all the details and pricing and straight forward when it came down to negotiations. The only negative is that my children didn't like the hot cocoa from the vending machine. Other than that, it was perfectly awesome. Thanks Mary, Nick, Tim, Josh and Darcee for all the help. My family and I appreciate everything you did for us.

My Original plan was to just look at the 2013 Accord, but it became a purchase instead! Danny B. created my final deal, (he is actually the new car General Manager) It took a little time to negotiate with Danny and I was pleased with the outcome. Danny took the time to explain each and every finance option. Sean in finance was able to get me the best rate and answer all my questions. An overall good experience!

Bought through the internet sales dept. so didn't have to haggle on price. Only had 1 in stock at that price which luckily didn't have any dealer-installed options like splash guards or wheel locks, which they mark waaaay up. However, when we finally got into the finance manager's office to sign (and the the extended warranty sales pitch) I noticed a $350 option. I asked what it was and was told it was a security etching on the windows and how when car theives see it blah, blah, blah.. I said we didn't want it. He said "what if I can give to you for our cost which is $199?" I still didn't want it and was just about to call the whole deal off. He "went and checked" and came back and said we're in luck, they hadn't put it on yet(?!). So we almost paid $350 for nothing? Fishy. Other than that it was a pretty standard purchase, haggling over the trade in value, them giving me the sob story about how much it costs them to prep a trade in, how they never know how much they will get for it, how it's not worth what I want, etc. Now I see it's on their site for $3900 more than they gave me in trade, close to a 100% markup. I'm sure that's pretty standard at any dealer; say they're losing money, belittle the value of your trade, then make some good money on when they sell it.

Purchasing cars historically has been a hassle for me. I've been jerked around by enough slippery salesman to be a little bit cautious. I felt that the dealer I dealt with at Klein Honda was very polite, respectful, and honest about the product I was investing in. I gave Klein a try based on a recommendation from a friend, and I can promise that I will recommend Klein to any friends/family that are interested in purchasing a Honda. Thanks so much!
