Running a Con Game on Saturday Mornings
by shopmavenva on 02/16/2018Two Altimas later -- one bought FROM them and they dare to try to rip us off on service. We came to them for a problem that had stumped our local mechanics since Nov -- a noise coming from the front right wheel. Instead of diagnosing it,… Sheehy's mechanic and service rep (Javier) played a routine on us worthy of a SNL skit. And, THREE HOURS in, still did not diagnose the wheel problem correctly. 1) They asked us to PET the tires b/c they were "cupping" on BOTH edges! (Cupping is feathering/scalloping that normally occurs on one edge or the other and is clearly visible to the eye -- why would we need to "pet" the tread?) When we told them these were BRAND NEW Michelin Primacy tires from Costco, they told us Costco had obviously sold us "fakes." (No. No. No.) 2) They showed us the oil pan - dripping big golden drops of oil that was also smeared all over the bottom of the pan -- failed seal they said. EXCEPT a 10 yr old car with 118K on it and 6 weeks into an oil change would leak DIRTY oil; 3) They showed us the ceramic brake pads on the front and said they'd been installed upside down. (They were fine every time the other shops (two) inspected the brakes while trying to diagnosis the wheel noise.) 4) They showed us the "steering rack" and said it was "old and wobbly" -- so why does the car track perfectly and steers like it is on rails? 5) They mentioned -- in passing -- the wheel bearing on the DRIVERS side was "beginning to make a noise". OHHH GREAT -- except our noise had been CONSISTENTLY on the Passenger side since Nov when we FIRST heard it. And, 6) They told us our entire strut assembly -- less than a year old -- were "bad and broken" and had to be replaced b/c they were not OEM... 7) And, when we balked at all this nonsense, and asked for the "diagnosis bill" told us it had suddenly gone UP from the initial $50 quoted when we signed in 3 hours earlier to $150! And, when we balked at that, the mechanic had the good sense to tell Javier the Service Rep, "waive the fee." Seemingly THAT was the ONLY honest thing that happened in the three hours we were there. We were sent back to the waiting room for another 45 minutes to wait for them to take if off the lift and write up the "bill." Meanwhile, we took the car almost across the street immediately -- to one of our trusted shops who began trying to diagnose the problem in December. And, the TRUSTED Shop told us: 1) our tires were fine - of course; 2) no engine oil leak -- seals are STILL tight; 3) ODDLY the front brake pads (that they didn't install) -- that had been FINE three weeks earlier -- were now installed UPSIDE down with the wear bar rubbing; 4) the steering rack is STILL within spec and the new strut assemblies are STILL fine (they didn't install them, either); and, 5) The Drivers side wheel bearing is fine. The BEARING that had gone bad was in the passenger side axle assembly -- they replaced it and miraculously, the noise is gone! Oh, and one other weird thing was noticed -- the same rear rotors that were "fine" three weeks ago when they evaluated the brake pad as being on the verge of need replacement but the rear rotors were fine, were now RUSTED to the brake shoe on the passenger side -- somehow the whole assembly had magically rusted and become "frozen" while sitting for most of three weeks in a dry garage. In other words, not ONE of the things Javier wrote on the Sheehy Nissan bill as unresolved problems were, in fact, problems. AND, TWO other serious changes had occurred with my brakes in the three weeks between our visits to them. They saw the car AFTER the tires were installed -- and so did Brown's Hyundai who did the alignment (and never reported the very OBVIOUS brake issues). It really makes you wonder if the three hours it sat at Sheehy waiting to be "diagnosed" somehow created the opportunity for mischief. And, worse. So, as much as I have LOVED owning both a 2.5 AND 3.5 Altima, these are our last b/c this trip to this dealer showed us EXACTLY who Nissan is letting represent them in the service area. And, we OBVIOUSLY can't trust them anymore. Upside down brake pads and rusted (frozen) brake assemblies seem to happen on their watch. It is downright shameful.Got my Altima Right!
by amayaaltima on 01/30/2017I recently started having noise issues with an Altima I have. I asked Alex to help me out and he connected me to Bill Swor. I got my Altima back and now in feels like brand new. I really am thank ful to these two gentlemen.Sheehy Manassas Service Department
by KimberleyKW on 12/30/2015updated 01/12/2016I have bought 3 vehicles from Nissan - great gas mileage, dependable, attractive styles and salesmen's knowledge gets me in the store. The Service department keeps me coming back. Jon Picon always sees to it that I can get my Rogue… serviced when I need to, has it back to me when promised and it's always done right! What more could I ask for? Oh - the customer lounge is clean, comfortable and has an awesome choice of coffee! Much appreciated!Horrible Dealership
by pcarter1 on 07/29/2015If I could give this dealership zero stars I would. I bought my car brand new from this dealership in 2011 and had so many issues with the process of buying it the Manager of the dealership had to get involved. I have free oil changes and… inspections for the life of the car which is the only reason I return to the dealership for service. I have received poor service multiple times and been told I needed new brakes multiple times,so I took my car to a trusted mechanic who said my brakes were fine and didn't need to be replaced. Also a repair I needed the dealership said was $300 and the mechanic I use said it was $120. Same day my mechanic looked at my car I took it to the dealership for my free state inspection. I was then told after an hour wait that my car would fail because of my brakes. When I told him I just saw a mechanic that morning who is also a state inspector for the past 20 years and was told there was zero issues with my brakes my service adviser at Nissan seemed flustered and said he would put a failed sticker on my car and stormed off. Less then a minute later he came back and said he "misunderstood" his state inspector and they were just recommending the brakes should be replaced. I know that was a lie. There is no way you can mix up that they have to be replaced vs recommending they should be. I have always known dealerships over charge for their work but to lie and say work needs to be done that didn't actually need to be done is low. Next time I will pay to use my trusted mechanic.Awesome service!

Really Bad Service Advisor
by ennoyhater on 10/06/2010When I bought my new car a few years ago I chose another dealership even though Sheehy is closer to my house. It was not just the price, but also a bad impression from the sales department. I prefer not take my car to the dealership… but when warranty work is needed I do. So my air conditioner goes out and I make the first appointment for the morning at 8:00. After three hours I ask the "service" adviser for an update. He tells me I'm "next" in line. I was the first appointment of the morning so I was curious as to how that was. He said he does not control what order the mechanics do the work. Then I remembered why I had not been there in over a year. I had made an appointment for an oil change one morning...2 and half hours later they had not even brought my car into the shop and I just left with the car and went to Jiffy Lube. The service department at this dealership is beyond terrible. They are also very aggressive trying to get people to buy "VIP" memberships and perform the "suggested maintenance" packages. They are very very expensive. Way more than the Chevrolet dealership down the road. I would avoid this place unless you have to go for warranty work and don't won't to drive to Browns>Good Work...Bad Service
by fairreviewer on 10/29/2009Good Work: The mechanics at Sheehy know their stuff and all of the work that I have had completed has been top quality. Bad Service: My list of grievances with the service department staff and overall operations is longer than anyone… would be willing to read so I'll just highlight a couple of things. 1. I once took advantage of their complementary ride service, they drove me 5 miles to work, nice. When my car was fixed they gave me a call and I asked that they pick me up. The ride service was not available for pick up at that hour. Geez, I wish they would have let me know that they weren't going to be able to take me two ways. 2. Once with a service appointment for an oil change, it took over two hour and a half hours. 3. I took my car there for safety inspection and the service guy tells me his mechanics are going to lunch for an hour, he didn't tell me there is a second service guy with his own mechanics...what the heck? I came back an hour later and the second service guy tells me that his guys are going to lunch and directs me to the first service guy. Nice. 3.a. Same inspection, an hour after I drop off my car with service guy 1, he tells me that I have a break light bulb out. He quotes me $57.00 to fix it. I deny and the car fails. I went to Advanced Auto and bought 2 bulbs for $6.00. I had no idea what I was doing but had them installed in 5 minutes. The mechanics could probably have done it in 2 minutes. So, $3.00 for the bulb, $54.00 for 2 minutes labor. That is $1620 per hour for labor, thats a little on the spendy side.Love Javier's Customer Service

by johnholmes1 on 04/14/2014updated 08/31/2025I am convinced that Sheehy service is the vest around. I really feel like they care to do the work well every time I bring my vehicle in for service. My service advisor, Jon P, knows his business and treats me very well each and every… visit. No small wonder I have bought five vehicles here over the years and have them all serviced at Sheehy in Manassas, VA.Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this great review! Thank you for your kind words about Jon, and please know we will pass along your thoughts to him. We hope you enjoy your purchases, and we hope you will return for any of your future car needs!

by HappyClientVA on 06/11/2014updated 08/31/2025Bought the car there in 99, always had it serviced there except on two occasions when I was out of state. Always prompt, courteous, the service adviser explains everything, gives me an itemized estimate and they are usually within a few… percent. When I told them (on several occasions) I had financial difficulties, they prioritized the needed repairs so I could make intelligent decisions on what to repair and what can be postponed. Head and shoulders above other shops I ha experience with. Thanks for your loyalty to Sheehy Nissan Manassas! We appreciate your feedback on our services. Thanks for your business and the great review!
