  • Only came for maintance

    Booked an appointment for routine 30,000 k mile and after picking up my vehicle found scratches on the drivers side door. Not just small ones they appeared to be purposeful from some type of circular motion. I complained to the rep and he said he would follow up with his boss the next day. I’m very disappointed that this occurred as I never have issues with vehicles at a dealership. So far no resolution has come of this.

    Took my car in for recall. My appointment was at 10:00am. Discovered I needed brakes as well and added an oil change. All service was completed in approximately 2 hours. The young man in the service dept was very helpful as well.

    Went in for an oil change. Was taken care of from the moment I arrived. Work was quick and I was updated continuously. Rudy, my service manager, did a great job throughout.

    The waiting room was clean and comfortable, the wait was not long at all, especially compared to the ridiculous wait times for an appointment at the other KIAs in the greater San Antonio area, and the employees were very knowledgeable, polite, and accommodating.

  • Flat tire on a new vehicle - my responsibility?

    I recently visited the Kia service center after experiencing a flat tire, less than two months after purchasing a new car from them. Despite my hopes for a quick and understanding resolution, I was met with the disappointing reality that the tire could not be repaired and instead, I was required to purchase a new one. While I understand that sometimes replacements are necessary, I couldn’t help but feel let down by the situation, especially considering the car’s recent purchase. The service was efficient, but this experience has certainly dampened my enthusiasm. I’ve rated the service with two stars out of five, reflecting my mixed feelings about the quality of customer care and the resolution provided for what seemed like a premature issue.

  • Kia dragged their feet

    On Saturday, January 13, I dropped off my Kia Soul for service after it had been stolen and recovered. Nearly two weeks later, they contacted me asking me to override my insurance so they could charge me for extra work, explaining that no parts could be ordered and no work begin until I agree to their unapproved work. Nearly one month after they received my car, on Thursday, February 8, they told me they reached an agreement with insurance and would order parts/begin work and they promised the car ready by Saturday, February 10. On Saturday, they let me know they were still waiting for one part, which would come Wednesday, and they would have the car ready that day. My contact at Kia South Austin was Johnathan Talley. According to reports from my insurance agent, he was never in the office when she called or stopped by. And after he told me I could finally pick up my car on Valentines Day, he failed to communicate with his staff that I was paying through insurance, who had left them a check, so the lady at the desk tried to charge me the full amount. When I collected my car, there was a damp rag and a large piece of cardboard in the back seat that had not been present when I left the car with them.

    Rudy was helpful and prompt and took the time to explain and follow up with me about what services my car needed. I haven’t finished all that needs to be repaired yet because they needed to order a part to be delivered, but so far so good!

  • Replaced Rearview Mirror and Installed Auto-Dimming Mirror with HomeLink

    KIA of South Austin did a great job installing the Auto-Dimming Mirror with HomeLink to my 2024 KIA Niro Hybrid. The Parts Manager, JP, was very helpful in getting the parts in two days, and it took only an hour for the Service Department to install the new rearview mirror at a reasonable price.

  • Worst experience

    Worst experience I have ever had at a dealership service department! They had my car for a warranty issue which they said would take 2 weeks, it took a month. We had to call our service advisor several times to get an update and eventually just called the service department because he would not return calls. When my husband was finally able to pick up our car it took forever for them to get it. We found out why when my husband stopped to get some lunch after picking it up, he turned the car off and when he tried to turn the car back on it wouldn't start. Instead of telling him the battery was dead and needed to be replaced they let him drive away and get stranded at the next place he stopped. The whole experience was terrible and I will never take my car there again!!!

    I brought my new Telluride in for an annoying little rattle in the headliner after easily scheduling an appointment on line. Jonathan Talley was very courteous and patient in checking me in and seeing that I had a ride home. The service crew fixed the problem expeditiously and I was updated with their progress. I couldn’t be happier with the customer service I experienced from Jonathan and the Kia of South Austin Service department.

  • One Star is Too Generous

    I had my Soul towed to Kia of South Austin around September 22. Over the course of the next several weeks, I called the service department about five or six times asking for an update. Every time the service advisor Sal was busy and could not take my call. Every time I left a message asking for a call back. I even started asking the service manager to call back instead. I got nothing but radio silence. It wasn’t until December 7 that I actually reached someone. The ONLY way this was possible was due to the fact that I resorted to calling Kia Corporate Consumer Affairs and somehow they magically reached the “service” department for me. Despite this lemon of a vehicle 2015 Soul going into limp mode for the fourth time, the vehicle barely misses meeting the criteria for an engine replacement… so far. After being at the “service” department for almost 12 weeks and not hearing a word or receiving a call back, I was ultimately informed that a bearing clearance test was performed on October 2 AND such test was the ONLY diagnostic they needed to do. The results of such BCT warranted a combustion cleaning only and I was told that there was a 50-75% chance that would fix the issues with the (well-known) engine problems of this Soul. I could have had my car back on the road the first week of October, but instead I had to arrange for rides and for Ubers and an alternate vehicle for the primary driver of the Soul (my daughter, who is in college in a different city). I will say Cesar the asst service mgr was pleasant and patient. However, when I picked up the vehicle, the worker who assisted me was sitting right next to Sal, the supposed service advisor. Sal heard my conversation, even contributed to it by talking to his coworker…but never said one word to me. He knew the situation. The incredible lack of effort or care and likely incompetence of Sal was what left me in a silent void for over two months and he didn’t have the decency to even address me or apologize for the horrible “service” he provided.. or didn’t provide. My advice: Avoid Kia of South Austin at all cost.
