  • Eager to purchase but no sale here

    1 out of 5 starsby Auto2buy4me on 03/20/2015

I was in the market for a new vehicle and quickly. My previous experience with this dealer 2 years ago was fantastic, which is what caused me to seek them out for a repeat. I emailed the stock numbers of my selected vehicles I wanted to see when I visited the dealer. The sales agent called me quickly and we setup an appointment. Upon my arrival, my sales agent wasn't available and I had to wait for her a while. When she finally met with us, she said it would be just a minute while she got our selected vehicles ready. It was nearly 30 minutes later that we finally saw our selected vehicles. When we told her that we really wanted one with a different color interior, she went off to find one in the computer inventory. Another 15 minutes later she came to tell us they didn't have one on the lot but one was in transit to the dealer and would be available two days later. We left our contact information for a call back. I waited until late in the day two days later, but no call back from the sale agent. I called her, but got voice mail. I left her a message for a return call. Next day, again I waited until later in the day expecting a return call. Nothing. I called her but got voice mail. I left another message for a call back and never got one. I even sent her an email expressing interest in the vehicle coming in. No response. In fact, this dealership didn't seem like they could care any less in selling me a vehicle. This was a completely different experience from two years ago. It has been a week later since this all started and I have yet to receive any acknowledgement of my phone calls or emails expressing interest in purchasing a vehicle from this dealer. I finally went somewhere else to purchase a vehicle. I don't know what has changed at this dealer but something clearly has. The sales agent indicated that their holding company had been purchased by Warren Buffet's company and changes were coming. This leads me to believe that this is just a big corporate world dealership with profit as their overarching vision. Customers and satisfaction don't really seem to matter. What a change 2 years can make.
  • Great experiences every time!

I bought my Sonata brand new on 6/11/2010 and have had it serviced there all but one time . It currently sits at 100k + miles, so I have been there plenty of times atleast once every 5k miles. They have always been super nice and helpful. They always take or return your calls quickly. I don't what the other people are talking about. The prices are a bit high but it's a dealership they all are so can't really complain cause there isn't a single REAL dealership that is. They do good work and when they say they will. I'm looking to take the car in for the 100k service and I will give it no thought to take it anywhere else but to these guys.
  • Very disappointed with Financial Dept.

3.5 out of 5 starsby mmogmedia on 11/03/2010

Everything was pleasant about the dealership up till I got into the Finance Dept. in which left me with a sour taste in my mouth for years to come. This was my first brand new car buying experience and so I was a bit gullible and was taken advantage of by RJ or JD (whatever his name was) in the Finance Dept. as he slipped in an extended warranty into my car financing without my knowledge on a brand new vehicle. Why would a brand spanking new car need an extended warranty? Anyhow, suffice to say they got an extra $3000 out of me for the extended warranty. I kept asking why the car was much higher in price then the price agreed to and shook on and he kept rushing me along rather then giving me a break down of everything. I also had a rental car in which I entrusted him to drop off for me in which he said he would take care of for me. I went up there a couple days later after discovering they snuck in the extended warranty on me to try and get it canceled and get the money paid out for it and was told that it would go towards the balance of the entire loan in which I said I was fine with doing. Got up there and discovered my rental car was still sitting in the parking lot in which I entrusted RJ or JD with and I got really upset with him and raised my voice and asked why the rental car was still sitting out in the parking lot and he lied to me and stated that he notified Enterprise and that they had not charged me any further the day I dropped it off with him which was a lie as I called up Enterprise in which they had billed me up till he actually dropped it off. So that costed me more money by entrusting him to drop it off for me in which he volunteered to do. I would of dropped it off myself if I knew he was going to drag around and not do it for several days. Anyhow, JD (I am thinking that was his name) said he would take care of the extended warranty cancellation which never happened. I followed up on it, had to make another trip up there and he was not there (how convienant of him) and so I spoke to a woman who claimed that her name was Michael who also worked in the Finance Dept. I asked her to repeat her name to me as that did not sound right for a woman to have the name Michael and she told me again her name was Michael and so I am not sure if she too was lying to me or not. Anyhow, suffice to say the extended warranty never got canceled and I was left paying an extra $3000 for an extended warranty I never needed and paying extra days on a rental car in which JD offered to return back for me. Everything was great like I said up till I got to the Finance Dept.
  • lost my business!

3.2 out of 5 starsby itg on 02/12/2010

I used to get my vehicle serviced her but I began losing trust in them when the price they quoted me for the 30,000 maintenance was about double of what another dealership quoted me. I have since stopped getting my car serviced here. My husband won't even deal with the service department after being told to give them all 10's on the survey he'd be getting. This made him mad that they were trying to coerce him into giving him a good review. (I will say, the waiting area isn't too bad as they have a nice big screen tv to watch while you wait.
  • too desperate and aggressive in tactics...big turn off

2 out of 5 starsby itg on 02/12/2010

Twice when I went in for an oil change, I was bombarded by the same sales guy. The first time, I wasn't even out of my car and he was at my car wanting to sell me a car (I was even parked over in the service area). Another time, this same guy approached me as I was making my way to the service department. I was highly irritated by him at this point and told him I wasn't interested and he kept on after me. I ended up complaining to the manager. The sales people come across too aggressive and eager and desperate. This alone makes me not want to purchase a car from this dealership.
  • Excellent sales service!!

4.4 out of 5 starsby augs on 12/26/2009

Had a salesman named William here and having just wasted 2 hours of my life at [another place], he was a complete breath of fresh air! Seriously- this guy sat down with me right away and said "what are you looking for...?" After I told him my must-have's and what I didn't want etc., we THEN looked at cars. He was very professional and the sales manager had to work with us extensively to get our price down to where we were comfortable. We got the rebates, put some money down, got an excellent rate and in the end, got a great deal- even though we had negative equity! Would recommend this gentleman and the staff at Vandergriff Hyundai anytime!!
  • poor service

2.7 out of 5 starsby dault on 10/30/2009

I inquired about having the timing belt changed on my wifes sante fe last month and was quoted a price which was a little high but acceptable. When I called yesterday the service representative had little knowledge of the vehicle, and the quote had increased by 1/3 of the original quote. I then decided to contact [another dealership] who imediately scheduled me in and did the work fpr a very fair price.
  • Bought New Sante Fe

4.5 out of 5 starsby oldhen on 08/06/2009

At 6:00 one evening we decided to go to the Hyundai dealership. We were sorta passed over by one associate who pointed us to another associate. He was wonderful! Calm, knowledgeable and anxious to listen to what we wanted. We test drove 4 different cars each time him getting out to get the keys, continuing to be pleasant. Although the whole process took until after 11 PM, he stayed, never got in a hurry and we walked out owning a new Santa Fe. We left it for the next day to detail and have had great luck with the car. This is the second car we bought here having bought an Elentra when it was Buz Post in 2002. The car continues to run fine and we use their service department also! Nice dealership with wonderful people.
  • Somewhat Surprised

5 out of 5 starsby rugbyjj on 09/20/2008

I was looking for a Santa Fe, and in preparing to visit the dealerships, I went on line to read what others had said about the different dealerships. The single review of Vandergriff Hyundai had me somewhat apprehensive in visiting the dealership (which seems to be the intent), but after talking to the lady on the phone, I found them to be very friendly and helpful. After making an appointment, I was met by a slaeman - Willie - who showed me the different Santa Fes, both new and used. He was knowledgeable, personable, and one of the least "pressure" salesmen I have ever met. The dealership did not have the exact vehicle I was looking for, and Willie offered to find it for me. 36 hours later, he called and said he had my vehicle and it was exactly what I wanted! I agree with the previous writer that the finance department seemed to take longer than I am accustomed to spending, but I saw it as their being meticulous and making sure everything was done correctly so I would not have to come back a second or third time to get something right because they rushed through it the first time. I have had THAT experience before, and do not ever want to go through that again! Overall, I thought my experience was very pleasant, and I love my new Santa Fe. I would definitely recommend this dealership highly to anyone without hesitation!
  • Disaster and waste of time!!!!!!! Do not go!!!!!!

    1 out of 5 starsby rhl4818 on 05/31/2008

I wasted my time here, the sales staff was extremely slow and did not inform us of all the benefits, like free oil changes for a year, made us think that the first oil change free was a good deal. HA HA! The financing, when we finally got there 4 hours later lied to us and had us sign the contract without even the bank's permission, how shady does that sound? So after all the the hell, we didnt get the deal finished that day, and they at least allowed us to shred the contract thank god! Do not go here unless you'd like to be ripped off and wait to be ripped off. Did not have the car we even wanted either, of course tried to get us into a car that had on the line. BAD DEALERSHIP!!!!
  • Very helpful, courteous, pricey

We were looking at a Santa Fe Sport and a Chevy Traverse. They had both and let us test drive both. The salesman was courteous and helpful without high pressure. We were impressed with our visit. Unfortunately, their offer was significantly higher that two Fort Worth dealerships and they were unable or unwilling to make a better offer. We purchased from one of the Fort Worth dealers.
  • Don't Bother

These guys love to play games. I was set on buying a car there. At first the only thing that was holding me back was price. We finally agreed on a set price for a 2013 Hyundai Genesis and I was happy, except somehow the terms we agreed on mysteriously disappeared. Twice when I had family go and look at the vehicle we called and they asked them to come in and see it. Once they got there, the vehicle wasn't there. Last week, same thing. The car was there but once we email and I point out valid reasons why the car should be less (messed up windshield, former rental) Aracely tells me the vehicle is no longer available. I send someone to go see if that's true (because I'm hip to their games now) and it is. When I email her to tell here that all she asks is who I spoke to. Took my business elsewhere. The back and forth isn't worth it. Complaining to a manager gets you nowhere because they are just as rude and unhelpful.
  • Bait and switch - big time

After getting an online quote I visited the dealer and was quoted a drive away bottom line price on a new Hyundai. Shopped other dealers and found nothing to beat it. Called the salesman and double checked that the price the manager wrote on the back of the card was for what I wanted with no hidden fees. He assured me it was legit and I had him verify that. Drove to the dealership again, a long trip, and was presented with a financing sheet that, when I looked, had a final price that was the same as the sticker price. Only after I brought it up the salesman said, well yes, he had been misled. That quote I got was for a 2010 car, not a 2011 which I was buying. The old bait and switch routine.
  • a b.s. bill of goods

Called phone # on website, no one ever answered. called 2nd # I found on website, when asked for service, got answering machine. left message, no one ever returned my call. Took 2 hours to "diagnose" my issue, a check engine light staying on. Then was given a $2,765 list of 11 things they thought I should correct. I fixed one, and it resolved the check engine light issue. was told to change the switch would not take more than an hour. 2 1/2 hours later, angrily I went to service dept. car was in line, fixed. took another 20 minutes to get my bill. Would not recommend this dealer to anyone BUT my worst enemy.
