Buyer Beware
by Tajh R on 04/24/2025We were interested in purchasing a Ford F-150 from AutoNation Ford and visited the dealership for a test drive and pricing discussion. Before making a decision, we visited another dealership to compare options, then returned to… AutoNation. During the financing process, the finance associate misled us by implying that purchasing a vehicle protection plan was necessary to secure the financing rate. We ended up spending over three hours at the dealership while our trade-in was appraised and paperwork was completed. For context, both my wife and I have credit scores near 800. After signing the paperwork and finalizing the purchase (on a Saturday afternoon), we noticed two immediate issues with the vehicle that weren’t present during the test drive: a rock chip and crack in the windshield, and an air vent tab that fell off when the AC was turned on. We brought these to the sales associate’s attention, and he promised the issues would be addressed at their service center when we returned on Monday to drop off the spare key for our trade-in. On Monday, the associate again assured me he would follow up. However, later that week I was activated for a TDY with my reserve unit and couldn’t follow up in person. I emailed the dealership for over three weeks from my TDY location, providing timestamped photos from the day of purchase and looping in the service technician who sent me the Ford OASIS report. I also found previous email communication with the sales manager, Shawn Teal. Eventually, I received a dismissive response from Shawn stating: “There is nothing to do sir. The vehicle was sold as is. No ‘we owe’ form documenting any grievance was provided in the deal. I am sorry you are having these issues but there is nothing I can do for the issues you are currently addressing.” I’ve never experienced such poor treatment and lack of accountability from a supposedly reputable dealership. by Disappointed in AutoNation on 11/11/2024Saw an F150 on edmunds that looked interesting, so I contacted the dealer. They were very anxious to have me come out as soon as possible. Before leaving home for the hour and 40 minute trip each way, I noticed on their website that it was… a "courtesy vehicle". I asked how many miles were on it and was told 720. My wife and I discussed and decided that we could at least look at it, since it was hard to find a vehicle with the package I was looking for. The salesman was very evasive about confirming the price. Needless to say, after driving 110 miles, we got to the dealership and were brought to the vehicle. The vehicle showed signs of wear and was not clean and smelled slightly musty and was not the color I was expecting. Only after I started the vehicle did I realize that the odometer said 1590 miles. The salesman said something to the effect of "that vehicle is on loan at the moment". He was really interested in selling us that vehicle (which had about $2000 of aftermarket BS added to it). My wife and I walked out. I do not deal with people who lie to me, or with the dealership where the liar works, or with the whole AutoNation chain. We wasted 5+ hours of our time and drove 220 miles because we were lied to.Hi, we regret your experience with us here, but are glad you brought this to our attention. Great Online Sale

He provided me a video walkaround and photos of specific things I asked about. I was… after a specific make model and year with a specific configuration. Once that was settled, the rest was easy. Since I live in Arizona, I arranged my own shipping and the salesman acted as the contact for the driver. The payment was made, the car was shipped, and I have a new car. Worst experience

The lack of communication, Insincere, going back and forth, etc. I’ve had my vehicle in the service department twice now, once for 5 weeks and the next for 3 weeks and the issue it STILL… not fixed. Great initial sales person - the "closer" brought it down
by Kevin D on 07/26/2023Excellent salesperson experience. Our salesperson Jaime Hernandez was friendly, helpful, and tried his best to make the experience efficient and pleasant. Post sale he has continued to be very responsive, researching questions we have about… the vehicle and making sure that we are able to use the various features. Unfortunately, it turned into a traditional car buying experience once we started talking numbers. Confusing re-arranging of the numbers, mysterious charges, missing rebates, and discounts all made their way into the process once it was handed off to the "closer." If I had not printed out all the online pricing that AutoNation had on their websites, I would have been charged thousands more than what they were advertising. It's great when a dealership asks you what is important and what you will be using the new vehicle for. However, when they sell you the same old stuff regardless of what you say you need, it lets you know that they are filling out the forms because some consultant said they should, not because they really care. In our case we specifically said that the vehicle was for long-distance travel - and they still pushed us to the AutoNation plan that is good only at their dealerships. I'm sure that their service department is good (although I have already found that they have no idea how to fill a tire to proper pressure) but if we are traveling it's going to be easier to find a Ford service center than an Autonation dealership. My only experience with the service department so far has been the improperly filled tires at delivery and their inability to answer a question about what part number is required to allow my trailer TPMS and camera to show up on the screen in the truck. They did do a great job of repairing the paint on the truck that was damaged unloading from the delivery truck, but they did not repair the damaged trim that was pointed out at the same time. Overall, an acceptable experience for a traditional dealership, but did not make me a "customer for life" so far.Hello Kevin, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback.
