    I recommend the service department of the AutoNation Subaru Hilton Head dealership in Hardeevile, SC. I recently took my Subaru Outback for the 24,000 mile service for a cost comparable to that of other local car shops (cost further lowered by a $20 coupon). I also had them look at the rear date that had stopped working. It turned out to be a faulty battery, which had been causing other intermittent problems too. Due to a class lawsuit & great help from Charles, I got a new battery for no cost. Waiting was not a problem in their comfortable, spacious waiting room, well equipped with assorted snacks, water, soda, coffee, magazines, & TV.

  • Service for my Outback 90K

    I was pleased with Charles Francis, the service advisor; however, the price I was quoted for the service when I made the reservation was $449.95. I was charged $492.72 due to an increase in charges, he said. Then, there was a misc. charge of $65 for "customer pay shop charge for repair order". What??? I called Charles the next day after I looked at the invoice closer and asked him to explain those charges. I really didn't think his explanation was valid. I had a $100 cpn from their website and think these higher charges were put in to compensate. At this point, I can't only say I maybe recommend this dealership service.

    • Battery for car was almost $500.00. I checked a few auto parts stores in the area, markup based on my research was 100%. Seems a bit high from my perspective.

  • New tires

    I had a nail in one of my tires leading to a slow leak...all four tires needed to be replaced as they were well worn. It was the Friday before Christmas. Spencer went out of his way to make sure he could get them all delivered that afternoon and installed them as well.

    Charles greeted and said service would be about 2 hours and 25 minutes. I sat in there comfortable lounge and read my book and had coffee, Charles came and said that techs made good time in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

    I wasn’t planning on buying a new car this year but had no choice following a wreck. And especially not right before Christmas! AutoNation Subaru HHI did their best to help in the process.     Due to an accident (not my fault!) that totaled my previous Subaru, I had to quickly find another car. Shopping for a new car for this reason is not necessarily fun and certainly not stress-free. The salespeople who helped me at AutoNation Hilton Head made the entire procedure informative, casual (no pressure) and easy.

    The atmosphere was quiet and casual. The sales information was accurate regarding the additions that were available to purchase and the features of the car. The pricing was lower than the dealer in Savannah. The discussions were factual and did not involve pressure to close the deal. From a customer’s point of view I could not expect any dealer to improve on their sales process.

  • All service warning lights!!

    I had an issue with my battery and had all the service warning lights come on! Spoke with Charles and he worked me in to test the problem!! They performed diagnostic testing and found a few codes had been set. They recalibrated the system to clear the codes and has worked out well!! Great customer service on my issue and have always been great on my regular service calls or priority car needs!!

  • A hoagie today took my car woes away

    My BMW got hurt in a downpour. I decided since I had it over 5 years I might as well buy a new vehicle. Love Subaru so after checking with the dealer in Savannah where I work I decided to check with Auto Nation since they are so close to home. I spoke with Ben Thomas and explained I only like silver or white and it had to be loaded like my BMW. He assured me he had the perfect vehicle. I said I would be there after lunch. When I arrived he had the beautiful Subaru Outback freshly washed and waiting. I gave him my X3 keys so they could appraise it and took the Outback for a test drive. Fell in love. Went back and Ben told me my trade in. Took me less than a minute to say yes, I want this vehicle. Would have been instant but I called and asked Ben if he was done his lunch break and he said he didn’t get those because no one loved him. When I arrived I saw he had a fresh hoagie on his credenza behind his desk, he lied! But after giving me a great deal on my new car, I decided I loved him and forgave his lying ways. His justification was he didn’t go to lunch it was a delivery so he wasn’t lying. Eh - semantics! Anyway, I love this vehicle, had a great experience even Phil Sullivan who did my financing was great. No hard sell on additions or warranty extensions, and the man has an English accent and though his taste in Chinese food leaves a lot to be desired he was fun to work with. So I would definitely recommend Auto Nation if you are looking for a new car - and can forgive Ben for lying about getting a hoagie!

    I’ve been dealing with this dealer for the past 5+ years. Always clean, super friendly, reliable staff even though they do the usual try to add things on the sales contract you didn’t ask for. Kinda glad they did as I got a ding three days after purchase. Will be going back for all my Subaru needs.

    We have owned an Outback, a Forrester and now returned to purchase another Outback. John Davidson was our sales representative and walked us through the process of what was available, approximate delivery date etc. We were very interested and as it turned out the car came in a week earlier. John was knowledgeable and engaging. After purchasing the vehicle, (which was a painless process), we met Bill who is Subaru's information representative to discuss our next steps of learning everything about the car. Appointment pending. Then onto service and parts to explain the process. Everything here is exceptional. This will not be our last visit or purchase.

    I had a great time buying my dram car! I was in a car accident in my previous car that I bought from Auto Nation Subaru. I told the salesman that I was working with that I wanted a big bright car so no one could run into me and say they didn’t see me. He found me the perfect car and the keys were in my hand that day!
