by The Honda Loving Lady on 11/09/2023I just leased my 4th Honda with Great Lakes Honda in Akron. And over the years, I’ve also accompanied my family and friends on many other deals with them. For this recent lease, I had the opportunity to work with GINA BALDINO in sales. I… truly enjoyed working with her. And I was also impressed with her knowledge of Hondas as well. Make sure you ask for Gina when you visit. I also enjoyed working with Sales Manager, Zac and Finance Manager, JT. Honestly, I’ve been going there for almost ten years and I will continue to for all my future Hondas. Oh, I also forgot to mention I drive 55 miles one way to get to the dealership. Well worth it! Signed, A very satisfied customerGreat experience
by Andy B on 08/15/2023I just bought a certified pre-owned CR-V and was very happy with the experience. I worked with Jeff Cox and would recommend working with him and this dealership. He was very patient and flexible with me and my individual needs and concerns,… and made the car buying process easy, quick and painless. Also was very happy with the financing.
Always a great experience at Great Lakes Honda

by Joshua S on 12/06/2021I went to look at a reasonably priced used 2015 Honda Civic for $13,773 with 86k miles, VIN: 19XFB2E53FE060889. The car ran great and clean otherwise EXCEPT upon walkaround I opened the back passenger door to find a fist sized corrosion… hole between the wheel well and the door jam that they covered with strips of black electrical tape to make it go unnoticed. not surface rust, a hole with tape over it. After talking with salesperson he said they remained firm on the price despite this being a huge deal breaker for any consumer. there is no doubt that in northeast Ohio with wind, rain and snow, this hole would expand outwards to the face of the car and wheel well. The price tag on the car was for a 2015 used vehicle in GOOD condition ( relatively clean and minor wear and tear) any blue or black book appraisal source would rate this vehicle as fair considering the damage and repair cost if it is repairable. they have since lowered the cost by $200 dollars but this car would run a significant risk of losing 3k of private party resale value right off the lot and potentially more within 3-5 years. They would be lucky to see $11,300 for the vehicle to a naïve or optimistic buyer. Kelly BB and Edmunds appraises the car at max $10,300 even in this market. Do not buy this vehicle at the sticker price. Tread lightly at this seller.Great service
by April on 05/05/2021Bryce, our salesman, was very friendly and found out all the answers to our questions for us about our used car purchase. He was very helpful!3 Hours Wasted for a Non-Existent Car
by Serkan on 07/21/2019I got a quote for a CRV EX FWD car today and made appointment to see the car. When I was at the store, I was told that that car was sold yesterday. I wasted 3 hours to go and wait for them to find the car. Very frustrating! What happened?
by JeremiayY on 05/21/2019Had a very unpleasant experience @GreatLakesHonda on Friday the 20th. I bought my car new @GreatLakesHonda and have had the vehicle serviced at this dealership for the life of the car, on Friday I brought the vehicle in for transmission… fluid change and an oil change and was told that prices from other Honda dealerships weren’t accepted, when they always were in the past. The receipt also showed that all fluids were filled and door hinges were lubed, and they clearly were not. If there are things on the receipt that have not been completed but say they have been, how do I know if the work that was paid for was completed? I go to this dealership because of the good atmosphere and because they took care of my vehicle well in the past, most of all I trusted them. Maybe they have new employees, will be rethinking things before coming back to @GreatLakesHonda. Highly recommend
by Kopencar on 05/16/2019I called dealership after dealership searching for a new car and was about to give up. I finally came across Great Lakes Honda. I drove an hour away just to come to this dealership and it was totally worth it. The atmosphere was nice and… the waiting area was clean and cozy! From the internet sales team to the team at the store, everyone was so professional and great. Cristina, in the internet sales department, and Jeff Cox, the in store salesman, were so pleasant to work with! Both of them did their best to help my boyfriend and I out and we both left with the Civic Sport that day. Mr. Cox was very friendly. I got sick on the drive up and he accommodated to my needs and was so understanding about it. The communication was excellent! Any time I reached out, there was always a response and I didn't have to wait days to get it!! The previous dealerships I had visited reached out to me to see if I had found a car yet and I told them yes and that I was going to Great Lakes. I told them about the deal they were giving me (compared to the other dealerships trying to rip me off) and let me just say this, THEY WERE AT A LOSS OF WORDS. They couldn't believe how much Great Lakes helped me. They actually tried to tell me that Great Lakes was going to low blow me when I got there to try to get me not to go. Can you believe that! GREAT LAKES ACTUALLY VALUES THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WANTS NOTHING BUT SATISFACTION FOR THEM. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone looking for a car to come here, even if you have to make a long drive to get there. It's an experience you'll never forget.Sandy in Service
by Dan on 01/21/2019I have bought or leased several Honda's from Great Lakes Honda. Sandy in the service department is the person I deal with because of her because of her friendly and honest professional attitude.Lies
by Mike on 12/08/2018updated 12/14/2018The dealership was one of my worse experience ever....they tried to give me way less for my trade kbb value...my sales person was good but we couldn’t agree on pricing so the manager Gavin came over and he was very arrogant and kinda rude… to my price rebuttals finally they agreed to my terms but finance took forever and Rachel was loud and also arrogant and just wouldn’t take no for an answer but it’s ok she [non-permissible content removed],my car was still dirty after detailing and the experience was waaaaay too long and I felt unwanted and I would never step foot in there again.New Lease - Honda Civic 2018
by Frank_W3 on 09/13/2018My current lease on my 2015 Civic was coming to end this month, so I decided to see if I could negotiate a new lease to get myself into last Saturday. Upon arrival at around noonish, I walked in and to my surprise no one really noticed… or came up to me. Maybe I haven't been to a dealership in a while.. but I figured that was a common practice to engage anyone walking through the front door. After about 15 minutes I went up to the front desk to the receptionist and told her I was looking to speak with someone regarding a new lease. That's when Jason Hahn came up to me to introduce himself. He brought me back to a sales desk that seems to be shared by many. He broke out my options, of which I wasn't very excited about considering the first lease deal I had gotten. To try to convince me, he offered a test drive of the Civic EX model. I accepted and we took a test drive out in the bad weather we had that day. During the 5 minute trip, I wasn't told much about the car other than some highlights that I found out for myself, such as the side mirror cameras. Once we got back he laid out the pricing again for the EX, which would have doubled my prior payments on my 2015 Civic lease. I asked to just see the LX pricing, which wasn't much better, still significant but not yet double. After some negotiation and my upset that I wasn't being treated fairly for being a returning leasee, I was able to get an okay deal. Once everything was signed with Jason, which took quite awhile, I was introduced with business manager in the office behind. He was excellent and quick to get me out of there after signing whatever he needed me to. After that was done, I packed all the stuff out of my old Civic and set it near Jason's desk area. Jason assured me that they are cleaning the vehicle and would be out soon for me. In between the hour it took for them to bring it around and when he told me that, I was pushed aside by Jason to engage with his new customer. I guess I'm done with his attention at this point. Eventually Jason decided to refocus his attention to me to finally address the matter of me waiting for almost an hour standing around in the dealership. He personally brought the car up front and showed me how to connect my phone then set me off on my way. In my conversation with Jason, I stated I left my second key set at home and he told me to just swing by tomorrow, Sunday, as they'd be open. Upon arrival, locked doors and no staff present within the dealership. I had to drive through another day of awful weather just to be lied to by both the business hours and the salesman. Even another car came up and was confused why the dealership was closed. Overall, I'm not very happy with the process I went through. I spent about 3 hours of my day there, which I don't know if is normal just to get a new lease. As for the dealership itself, the service staff has always been fantastic as well as the manager staff. The sales people need work.Worst customer service on used vehicle!
by Nichole on 08/16/2018I purchased a used van from this dealership. After picking it up I noticed that the detail was poorly done. I found a candy bar wrapper in the door, hair on the backseat, and what looked to be like sand in the middle console (among other… things). I called my salesman and he quickly took care of it. He got me scheduled for a full detail, even giving me a car for the day. I picked it up and sadly found the same wrapper in the door, the cup holders in back still having gunk in the bottom, and even a gameboard piece under the seat from the previous owner. I attempting multiple times to reach a manager, but no one returned my call. If this would have been properly fixed I would gladly be returning. But this is among the worst customer service I have experienced. They scammed the hell out of us.
by JamieM1215 on 03/09/2018My girl went here to trade in her car for another. They approved her for a vehicle, gave her the keys and took her old car. A week later they call saying they need the car back bc the bank didnt approve her. Weird, since they usually find… that out BEFORE giving someone the keys. We had to bring in the car before they told us that bc they were fixing it for her and gave us a loaner, but the same day we give them the car to get fixed is the same day they call and tell us they are keeping it. (And yes they gave us a loaner but they know we would have no choice but to return it bc we could go to jail if we didnt) They said they would work with us to find another bank who would approve her. A week goes by and nothing. On to the next week and they are being very vague and only emailing her. Brittany is the one corresponding with my gf. Finally we told them we wanted the Kia back and the 3 grand that was put down. They kept avoiding that and telling us that they were working on trying to get us to keep the Toyota. At this point we didnt want it. We just wanted our car back. So a few more days goes by (we have had the loaner longer than we even had the car she initially took home) my girl goes online and checks the status of her Kia bc if we were getting it back then she needed to make a payment. Well Honda paid the car off which means that AFTER we told them we wanted it back and they agreed to that option as well but kept avoiding us, They did that behind our backs so we cant get the car back. They officially own the car. When we called and asked them about it they claimed to have no idea how that happened. [non-permissible content removed]. But then they come back and say that they found a bank that approved her but now the interest rate is waaaaay higher which means more money out of our pockets and into theirs and they left us with no choice on anything bc they now own our old car. So we are left with nothing. They are two faced, manipulating and awful people. They scammed the hell out of my gf. Look up Spot Delivery Scam that is Honda to a T. I have never in my life seen this happen first hand. I thought maybe this would happen with a buy here pay here type deal. Not with a place like this. Im utterly disgusted with how theyve treated us. They could care less that they just screwed us. They only care about their money and commission. They played the oh I had no idea card way too well. They saw my gf as someone who was young and who they can take advantage of. It makes me sick. Dont go here. Dont deal with Brittany Brown or Patty. Dont deal with anyone there in general. Go somewhere else. Youll regret it if you dont. What the dealership wrote as a comment on this review as absolute nonsense. In 2018, spot delivery scams aka "Yoyo financing" shouldn't be a thing. I've dealt with GL before and had a good experience but I won't be dealing with them now after reading this. If it's a weekend, sometimes dealerships won't be able to get approval from banks because they aren't open. However this should be explained to the buyer of the vehicle. The fact that Great Lakes did not convey this to you or your girlfriend is nothing short of a scam. They can get confirmation from the bank on weekdays of the APR, sometimes weekends too. This was not the fault of a bank whatsoever. They allowed you to take delivery of the car despite not having secured financing for you. This is a very shady practice and only disreputable dealers still do this. Sad to see that Great Lakes had to resort to this.
One more thing: I would contact a lawyer that deals with contract law. More often than not, this is contract fraud and is not permissible by dealerships. You had a signed contract saying that you were paying X amount for the car and you were approved at Y% APR. If it didn't go through that is not on you, and it is not on the bank. It is on the dealership to rectify it since the purchase order was already signed.

by lindanscott on 04/27/2017We were looking to trade in our immaculate condition 2009 Ford Edge with 44k miles for a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Our Edge books at $10k+ and they offer $8k. I've never been more insulted in my 30+ years of buying from dealerships. Seriously,… you have to have some big stones or think people are stupid to low ball like that. Needless to say I will make sure none of my family, friends or associates give you a dime of business. I'm still in disbelief over this.Hello, lindanscott Our dealership gives KBB and NADA trade in value or higher for trade in vehicles. It is possible the book value you had on your vehicle was private seller value, and not trade in. It is also possible after appraising the vehicle, it was found to be in a different condition category than the initial book value you had. Even in immaculate condition, it is our standard to put any trade in vehicle through our service, safety inspection and detail. This is the major factor in trade value being less than private seller. Please feel free to reach out to our GM directly with any other concerns. Gavin Lake 440-781-2613.

by Happynhealthy on 06/20/2016Our knowledgeable, professional salesperson and her assistant made the whole car buying process simple and stress free. The finance woman then took it to the next step with her informative meeting. I feel like I saved money, took advantage… of an extremely low finance rate of .09 percent and received a fair trade in price for my car.Barb Casher Review

Hello, JamieM1215. I have taken your review to our finance managers to find out the details of your situation. Your girlfriend was approved on the Toyota based on the information given, by her, on the finance application. When a deal is submitted and we obtain that approval, it is based on all the information being accurate. Unfortunately the financier found some of the given information to be inaccurate. Out of respect for your privacy, we will not make note of the specifics of those inaccuracies. This lead to the bank later contacting our store, and refusing her loan. After learning this, our finance team attempted contact several times by phone with no answer. When the vehicle was brought in to our service department, we took repossession of the vehicle. As is standard procedure. It is correct that if you keep a borrowed vehicle, it is considered theft by any dealership, rental car establishment and so on. There was no threat of jail time made by any employee affiliated with our store. Our finance managers did continue to work with other banks on your girlfriends behalf to obtain a loan, based on the new accurate information. Contact was kept with her based on when they had updates from the banks they approached. At this point the Kia that was traded in was indeed owned by the store, holding up our end of the deal that was made based on inaccurate information given. The option of you getting the vehicle you traded in back was never presented, only that we would work to get you financed despite the circumstances. Which we did. The rate and payment did go up, again based on the correct information. This in no way puts more money in the hands of anyone in our Honda store, as it is the financier that makes money off of interest. Not our store. Our job is to work for you to get you approved for a vehicle. based on your accurate information. That was not given in this case, however we pressed on and got you another approval. There is nothing more you could ask of any establishment then to keep trying despite challenges. Which we did. There was no scam. Have a wonderful day.
