by car_boy1 on 04/29/2010In response to my Internet request for a quote on a new 2010 Tucson, Carol Glass sent me several emails offering $3000 off the MSRP of any new or used vehicle. She then called me on the telephone asking if I could come in to discuss a… possible purchase. When I told her specifically what vehicle features I wanted she said that they didn't have one, but would check for availability from another dealer and call me back. She called back a short time later, stating that they had found 3 vehicles at other dealers meeting my requirements, and repeated the $3000 off promotion. I immediately drove to Riverhead Hyundai, checkbook in hand, to make my purchase. When I arrived Carol said she couldn't understand the coding of the sales sheet and turned me over to "Ron", another salesman. Ron left me waiting at his desk for 10 or 15 minutes while he looked for "guest sheets" and invoices, and chatted with his sales manager. When he finally returned he said that my Tucson was available at FULL RETAIL price only. When I asked about Carol's promotion he started a long story about short supply, trucking expenses from the other dealer, etc. When I went back to Carol's office to ask about the promotion she had offered, she was all apologies over the "misunderstanding", claiming that the promotion was for any car EXCEPT the Tucson. When I calmly expressed my frustration at wasting my time, another associate in her office stood up and got in my face, stating in a loud voice that "mistakes happen" (yeah, right) and that she was a good person for having apologized and that I should not have made "snide remarks" and that I should be "man enough" to accept her apology. Wish I had gotten this guy's name; is that any way to treat a customer? He wasn't inconvenienced, nor was Carol or Ron. I was the one who drove almost an hour each way to find that the "promotion" was a complete misrepresentation. They Do Play Those Games
by johneredd on 05/03/2011updated 08/03/2025The Riverhead experience. After requesting online quote and speaking with Paul Ventimiglia, who quoted me a price of $17,400 flat plus tax and tags because there were no dealer or other fees. According to Paul "they don't play those games".… My wife and I, equipped with a copy of the email, went to the dealership ready to buy the Elantra. First mistake, saw salesman who informed me "Paul" was assisting another customer. Having never met Paul, and seeing the guy he pointed out as Paul helping another customer, I dealt with an Indian salesman(did not get this gentleman's name.) He proceeds to quote me a price of $18,400, a bit more than a had expected (lol). I told him I had a copy of an email with a $17,400 price and proceeded to show him. He said he would be right back. The gentleman comes back, and sure enough, he tells me "Yes the car is $17,400" and shows me the bill of sale. Yup $17400 on the first line of bill of sale, but wait, what's this? $1,235 in dealer and other fees. Seems they do play those games. Again I insisted on paying only the price I was quoted. Gentleman leaves and returns with the "Big Boss", Vito, who informs me ( as if he is doing me a favor) the lowest he can go is $17,700. Not quite the $17,400 I had in the printed out email I had brought with me. The email, by the way, was no where to be seen. After an hour and a half wasted, not to mention $4+ per gallon of gas, we went left feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated. Take this for what is is worth, it is all true. Happy car hunting (good luck if you go to Riverhead)VERY GOOD SERVICE
by 99accent on 03/14/2011updated 08/03/2025This deal has held all its committed service's and warranties plus friendly service reps from parts to inspections.Buyer Beware!
by dissatisfied16 on 06/05/2012updated 08/03/2025[non-permissible content removed] They charge fees that they don't disclose, make sure you ask to see the "Buyers Agreement". The trade in price offered was well below even a fair price as listed by Kelly Blue Book. The sales price on the… car was MSRP. The worst part about it all was that I thought I had negotiated a decent price on the deal but then they threw in their hidden and undisclosed fees on to the financing to basically bring the price back to what they had originally offered and I didn't catch what they had done till I was home and crunched the numbers myself, then it was too late. I ended up paying $2000 more than the national average on my new car! Don't go to this dealership, go somewhere else!shaddy dealership
by mike11778 on 01/12/2012updated 08/03/2025they are total [violative content removed], they pile up lots of small fees, prep fee for new car (included in MRSP), they do nothing just get you with a $40 detail/wash certificate, high interest rate if you finance, they put plates,… insurance before you sign to make sure you buy it. the problem is all dealers are [violative content removed] in long island and they have to do this to survive. unpleasant experience, including waiting 5 hours to get to a finance guy who was very bored. anyhow, their service department is very professional.Great all around experience with Vinny
by amdfanboy on 05/15/2014updated 08/03/2025I've been buying cars from riverhead Hyundai for years, and my usual salesman was out so I sat with a new salesman. Vinny figured out everything I needed in a few minutes, answered all my questions in full detail, and got me a great deal on… my new Genesis coupe r-spec. He got me the car I wanted, with all the options I wanted, in the color I wanted. I came in not planning on buying a car that day, but Vinny made everything so easy I was in and out in an hour and a half with a new car, at a lower payment than my last car and it's newer! there were no surprise fees, and everything was very straight forward. A great experience from beginning to end. Ask for Vinny, he was GREAT!
