Honest Review of My Car Purchase Experience
by lplsancer809 on 02/09/2025This review is a mix of highs and lows. Let’s start with the positives: Pros: Jim in Service was outstanding—informative, helpful, and someone I truly trust. My current car is waiting on a back-ordered part, and because of my confidence… in Jim, I felt comfortable making the decision to buy a new car and eventually pass mine down to my daughter. The negotiation process was smooth. Mick and Nate were super helpful and efficient, making the purchase experience pleasant. Cons: Brandon, the warranty guy, was condescending and disrespectful. When I declined the warranty based on Consumer Reports reliability studies, he suggested I wouldn’t be in this position if I had purchased a warranty on my other car (which wasn’t true) and went so far as to call my decision "foolish." After spending over $30,000, that kind of treatment left a sour taste. Picking up the car was disappointing. Even though it was a certified gold vehicle, I drove off with the gas light on. Thankfully, Nate met me at a Speedway to fill it up, but it took away from the excitement of the moment. Cleanliness issues. Since taking the car home, I’ve found spider nests in the hatch molding and dog hair on the back seat upholstery—definitely not what I’d expect from a certified vehicle. Final Thoughts: I love the car, and 99% of the staff treated me well, but there were some frustrating and deflating moments in the process. The dealership does a lot right, but addressing these issues would make the experience much better.Thank you for the review and we appreciate your honesty about the process. We are sorry we missed the mark and strive to do better in those areas. We are glad you are happy with your new car and look forward to working with you again!

Iwanted splash guards installed before delivery-was told they would have to be ordered when they were in stock. I was sold splash guards after sale. They’re in my trunk… still to be installed.We are so sorry you didn't receive the service you should have. We have let management know and they should be in touch.

Basil toyota disservice department
by Cindy on 09/16/2024Basically, it is always wise to remember that dealerships are known for charging all that the traffic will bear, plus a little more. That is something that I allowed myself to forget when I went to the service department for a fairly minor… repair ,and received a bill for over five hundred dollars. Who knew that soldering two wire ends together was soooo very time and labor intensive. I am happy that my issue was resolved--- I am not happy with the length of time I sat there, the lack of communication, or the less than stellar attitude toward the customer. Lesson learned---no dealership service outside of inspection and oil change. Hopefully they can control the need to lighten my wallet on these occasions.We are so sorry for your negative experience and the long wait. We have escalated your concerns to management and someone will be in touch.

Taz and Patrick were terrific, along with another young man, whose name I didn't catch, who… transferred all my belongings to the new car. Excellent customer service!!Efficient and helpful

I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call this past week saying car had arrived. Basil made the whole process easy, from ordering to… delivery. My only complaint if you want to call it that is that I paid sticker price. But I guess we are living in different times.Steering system grabbing
by Leroy on 10/24/2022Fixed the steering system mechanical issue on my 2015 4 runner. Basil replaced a seized union joint on the steering arm and then had to do a wheel alignment. Not the cheapest but they always do a good job and use OEM parts.Very poor Service at Basil Toyota Sat 4/30/21
by Bruce on 05/02/2022I don't like to do negative reviews, but the Service I received Saturday was TERRIBLE at Basil Toyota in Lockport, NY. First, I had to put up with grief in honoring an oil change coupon for $49, being told that I would be charged for oil… if it went over 5 quarts, and i knew the Corolla took less than 5 quarts. Second, I was told about a broken battery mount that a competitor broke when they striped a bolt and they told me they repaired. Third, when my inspection sticker was removed, AGAIN, Basil scratched the windshield side molding, like they used the big bar to remove the sticker instead of a razor blade. Some other observations, Basil didn't top any fluids, didn't honor a windshield wiper coupon for $5 and I just had the windshield wipers replaced with Trico Winter Blades, so my thought did Basil rip the blade? My opinion in all this is that Basil is desperate for money, and they will do anything to get it.Great sales experience

by AW J on 12/02/2021I had overall good contact with the dealer and they were friendly and my trade was seamless once we agreed on price. Finance manager was great and definitely acted on my behalf to find the best rate. Dealership or reps I worked with seem to… rely on text messaging for primary response. Generally ok but In my case, I was not able to respond with Texts and asked to be contacted by phone a few times. I tried to provide all information ahead to make my time at the dealership minimal as I was coming from out of state with a multiple hour drive both ways but a lot of the information was not passed along or passed along incorrectly requiring rework when I arrived. This made for a late return home. I understand new vehicle supply is low right now but from my cars.com searches this dealer is the only one I could see adding a price adder adjustment on top of MSRP to similar new car sales to take advantage of low supply when all are facing the same challenge. I would have passed normally but this was the best truck within my $ range. I also expected a more formal punch out list of all the details around my car features and warranty options. Some items were only learned as I asked last minute before driving away.Great Experience!
