Lies And Deception
by LIES on 05/12/2019Had vehicle priced at $13000, test drove vehicle and was very interested in buying that day with cash. Noticed a few things that needed attention and brought it up during negotiations then was presented with paperwork showing $15000 plus.… Tried figuring out what was going on, was told about a $899 year coverage for oil change, tire rotation, and other unneeded nonsense, and $199 dealers fee. All together very dishonest Manager Of Vehicle Sales, and Team as a whole . Very disappointed in them cause they could have had a sale that day but blew it with covering up real price, fees and a service that I was told was FREE with purchase of a vehicle. Disappointed
by Ginger60 on 03/21/2019Read online reviews with good ratings; went to this dealership to participate in my credit union and Sam's Club buyer's program. I researched the dealership's website. Of course the discount was on the 2019 Honda Passport Elite. Chase… Winters and I went for their pre-determined test drive route. We sat down to discuss numbers. Alex was the employee to take over this step. On the desk was a small display of Ed Napleton's Experience packages; $899 and $1,3995. This was not on their website. Alex was filling in the contract mentioning the "experience". I asked "What if you don't want it?!" He replied "Don't worry about it." Yep, it was written into my contract without my consent! Yes, by this time I was there almost 3 hours. I signed the documents which I regret. For a total of 4 hours at this dealership the only food offered was free popcorn and hot drinks! No one offered to take me lunch or to take me to get some lunch, show me the service area and introduce the service writers, explain how the free car washes are performed, but pressured me into writing a review online! The salesperson did not even call me after a few days to ask about my Passport! I have spoken to Tom Dempsey, General Manager, about my experience. I have been waiting for action on his end for 3 weeks! So, I am writing my review and sharing my experience.We're disappointed to hear that you did not have a more positive experience with us at Ed Napleton Honda in St Peters. by T_3122 on 02/08/2019Came in a rush at 9am and rude woman at front desk said she doesn’t start til after 9 so I walked back to my car and left. I’ll buy elsewhere. She had a look of disgust on her face as if I was bothering her and she looked sleepy. Terrible… to have at front door greeting customers. FYI this doesn’t deserve any stars but I was forced to select at least one in order to submit this review.We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a more positive experience with us at Ed Napleton Honda in St Peters. by Leland-B on 11/20/2018First off, I have bought several vehicles from several dealerships in several states. By far Ed Napleton Honda has been the best! My commute had sunddenly change and I was driving a one year old F-150 (which I loved) it was not economically… responsible to drive with my new commute. I’ve had a Accord in the past so I decided to get pricing on them. I shopped several other Honda dealers in the St. Louis area and did not get very good response which I was surprised about (one of the dealers / family I also bought my truck from). I am a executive member at Costco and remembered the Costco auto buying program so I got on the website and they matched me with Ed Napleton Honda. What a great match! Seriously! I was set up with a “VIP appointment”, I was greeted with coffee and water, Orlando, my sales consultant got to know me and what I liked in a car (I know it’s their job BUT most do not do it well and Orlando was AWESOME!), the sales director Dylan came over to meet me and explain my savings using the Costco Auto Program, Orlando took the car through the car wash to get the snow off and then took me on a drive to show me how the lane assist worked and Orlando offered my family food and coffee while they waited. I know that this is their job, to sell me a car BUT It was the easiest non pressure experience I’ve had to date. I am very assertive and already knew what i wanted and like I said above I was just trying to be economically responsible with my new much longer commute but I had a truck that I bought new and only had for one year so I knew I wasn’t going to get what I felt was worth it in the end but Dylan made the deal happen and gave me what I thought was fair and got me into a new Accord the same day! I thought I was going to play the waiting game to get a new car but I had my new car and was driving home in it within a few hours! I like to stay loyal to people and I WILL be buying from Ed Napleton again, hopefully Orlando!!! Costco did a great job pairing up with a great dealership like Ed Napleton Honda AND Ed Napleton did a great job hiring great people like Orlando and Dylan! Impressive
by Trout on 11/05/2018My husband and I ended up driving an hour and a half from home to purchase a vehicle from another dealership. We were less than pleased with the options we were finding. While driving back home, we stopped here as a last hope to find… something. Low and behold, they had the van we had been looking for. After test driving the Honda Odyssey, we haggled on pricing. Cody and Dylan were able to offer a price we wanted. These guys went above and beyond to make the sale happen in record time as we still had an hour and fifteen minute drive home with only an hour and thirty minutes to be at work. These guys put in full effort to not only make a sale but also beat the terms we had been given with our bank. Wonderful guys, beautiful dealership, solid vehicle. I would fully recommend them and plan to return in a few years when we will be in the market to downsize once the kids are grown.Thanks for sharing your recent service experience with us, Trout! Ed Napleton Honda: Scamming You with a Smile!

The entire sales process at Ed Napleton Honda is designed to confuse you, take advantage of you, and scam you out of as much money as they possibly can. If you just want a new car and don't… really care about your money, then they do a decent job of acting like they're being nice to you while they fleece you. But if you actually want a good deal on a car and don't want to shell out nearly $4,000 in overpriced dealer "add-ons," then stay far, far away from Ed Napleton Honda. Here's our story. My mother went up there on a Friday with the intention of test-driving some Hondas. She was mainly looking at the CR-V or the HR-V, but was on the fence and was not ready to make a decision (otherwise I would have went with her to negotiate a deal, as she is not the best at that sort of thing). Well, after spending all day there, she ended up being sold on a brand new, top-of-the-line trim Honda CR-V for over $5,000 more than she was looking to spend. What's more, they intentionally confused her so much on the numbers that she walked out thinking she had gotten a good deal within her price range. It definitely was not a good deal. The salesman at Napleton Honda somehow managed to sell her a CR-V for about $1,000 over MSRP. He also sold her $759 worth of extra insurance contracts and roadside service that she did not need or want. He also sold her $1798 worth of their "special Xzilon vehicle coating" (essentially Scotchguard for the interior and an unnecessary undercoating on the vehicle). He also sold her on the wildly overpriced "Napleton Xperience package" for $1395. Thats a total of $3,952 in extras, none of which she wanted or needed. As soon as I saw the paperwork for this deal, I knew she had been completely taken advantage of. Luckily she hadn't given them a check for the CR-V or the title for her trade-in yet, so I went back up there with her on Monday to try to get her out of this mess. And man, was it a battle They have a 72-hour exchange policy so they were willing to take the vehicle back, but it took a fair amount of convincing to get them to switch out the CR-V for a less-expensive HR-V without also charging us for the add-ons on the original vehicle. I basically had to threaten to take our trade-in back, walk out, and dispute the deposit with our credit card company before they would even consider dealing on this. Whenever I questioned an add on or an extra charge, they would make us wait for 20-30 minutes while they talked to the managers, "remove" the charge and gives us a new price sheet with that line item gone, while in reality they had renamed it or bundled it into another charge. This happened several times throughout the course of the day, and it seemed to me like a deliberate attempt to confuse us into thinking we were getting a better deal, when in fact they were giving us the same deal that they were before. They eventually took off the insurance and roadside assistance, and they tried to make us happy by only charging us a $1795 reduced price for the Xzilon and Napleton Xperience package. Let's talk about their Napleton Xperience package for a second. Here is what it includes: -All-weather floor mats -Trunk tray -Plastic splash guards -Some sort of security system? They didn't give much detail on that I had them show me an itemized list of exactly how much all of these things cost. The splash guards (an unnecessary item that doesnt change the look or functionality of the vehicle) accounted for $186. The rubber floor mats accounted for $240. Well, you can go on any number of Honda parts websites (such as hondapartsguys.com or hondapartsdirect.com) and get genuine, OEM Honda accessories for MUCH cheaper. Guess how much you can buy the exact same splash guard set for online? $60. The same floor mats? $110. And you can bet the dealership gets this stuff for even less. Below the sales flyer for this, it plainly says that the Napleton Xperience package is "Optional. Not required for purchase." But they REALLY do not want to take this off. The salesman even said to me, "I wish they wouldn't put that it's optional. I have this argument every single day." No wonder. The entire package is a ripoff that just pads their bottom line at your expense. You can get all the same stuff that they're charging $1495 for from an online store for $300 shipped. They eventually had to bring the general manager of the entire dealership out to speak with me, and when I wouldn't back down only THEN would they remove this (again, after telling me over and over that they couldn't take this off, even though it plainly says OPTIONAL). That just left an $899 charge for the Xzilon. I had already gotten them to remove the "second stage coating" (which basically consists of spraying the interior with Scotch Guard). But they would not budge on the "first stage undercoating," because they claim that they immediately coat all of their new vehicles the second they get them on the lot. Well that is total BS that they do this, because these coatings are a worthless ripoff. It's been well-documented that rust-proof undercoatings beyond what's already done at the factory are completely unnecessary on modern vehicles. But that doesn't stop them from selling it to you because let's face it, they're spraying on a $100 undercoating and charging you $900 for it, so that's a pretty nice profit for them. They even tried to slip in an extra $200 on us when we finally went to sign the paperwork. We were confirming the final cost, and the number they gave us was $199 more than what was agreed upon. When I called them on it, we waited another 10 minutes while the managers were consulted before they magically "found" the paperwork with the correct number inside a folder right in front of us. When it was all said and done, my mother and I spent 7 hours at the dealership. We had to talk to three different layers of management, all the way up to the GM. Our salesman frequently wandered off to consult with his managers, and left us sitting for 20-30 minutes at a time. This is a sales tactic to get you tired and unable to reasonably consider the intentionally confusing numbers that they put in front of you. They rearranged numbers, and renamed charges, and did everything they could to slip things past us. Are other car dealers like this also? Maybe. But just because it's the business model doesn't make it any less of a scam. I know we will never be returning to Ed Napleton Honda. And if you care about your money and your time, I highly advise that you never set foot there in the first place.Kenny Pease did a Super Job.

I drove 5 other cars in the class offered by competitors and it wasn’t even close in ride smoothness, comfort and legroom, safety features, MPG,… and other features too numerous to mention. Kenny didn’t have all the answers as he explained being fairly new to the Napleton dealership, .. . But he got them for me. I would whole heartedly recommend Kenny Pease and Ed Napleton Honda for anyone looking to buy a high quality new car.
