Bait and Switch... AVOID Commonwealth
by lyndess on 09/14/2010I received an good quote from the Internet sales manager at Commonwealth Honda, and was told that the car I wanted was "on the lot." I drove to the dealership, only to find out that they DIDN'T have the car on the lot... but that they… could get one within a week. I thought, "OK, fine -- I'll wait." But then the salesperson tried to negotiate a much higher price than the one I was quoted, despite multiple, repeated email messages between the Internet sales manager and me. When I spoke to the Internet sales manager directly, even he tried to claim that his repeated email messages did not contain quotes, only "starting points" from which the dealership would need to raise the price in order to make a profit. At this point, I attempted to leave, but then (of course) the game started -- the sales manager pulled me aside and began offering better pricing. With some hard-nosed negotiation, I eventually received an offer that was within $100 of the original estimate (rather than the thousands of dollars higher that they tried to squeeze out of me), but then they low-balled the trade-in estimate by about $1,500 less than Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book. At this point, I had already made up my mind to leave, but decided to negotiate further so I would have a better position with other dealerships. We eventually arrived at (what I perceived to be) a very good deal, at which point I left, drove to another dealership (that HAD the car I wanted), and closed the deal at the same pricing that Commonwealth (eventually) offered. Overall, my experience at Commonwealth was very poor. The Internet sales manager is a [violative content deleted], and the salesperson I dealt with was a [violative content deleted]. Their business practices are unethical; I highly recommend shopping elsewhere...Overall Fantastic Experience
by jmajor13 on 09/06/2010This is the second vehicle that I have leased with Commonweath Honda. I upgraded from a Civic Coupe to a 2010 Honda CR-V. Price was very resonable. I absolutely love the vehicle and may purchase this one outright early. Honda's offer… terrific reliability and durability. My experience again with Commonwealth Honda was easy and efficient. Everyone there that I dealt with was very pleasant and positive. I would not hesitate to go back to them for future purchases and their service center. I highly recommend this dealership!Happy Customer
by kyle4143 on 09/06/2010I highly recommend Commonwealth Honda. On my first visit I spent hours test driving 4 cars and was still unsure as my preferred car was not available on site. I appreciated the helpful nature of all the staff and accepting that I was… still undecided, particularly Paul. I love my Accord Coupe and I could not be happier!Second time buyer
by kimbrle on 08/24/2010This is the second vehicle we have purchased from Commonwealth and once again we made the right choice. Jeff Donahue has sold us both our vehicles. He makes the process simple and without "what can we do to sell you a car today" speech. As… far as price they went the lowest in the shortest amount of time without all the back and forth. Kids were happy to watch family freindly movies while we purchased our new car. I would recommend this dealership.New Honda Civic purchased today
by cbcathome on 08/02/2010I purchased a new Honda Civic today from Commonwealth Motors Honda in Lawrence Ma. I worked with Malcolm (sales) Joe (manager) Bob (finance). Malcolm and Bob were both great....very accommodating and patient...Joe beat the price a Honda… competitor had given me immediately and without haggling......I would buy from them again and would reccommend Commonwealth Honda in Lawrence Ma to everyone.Commonwealth leased me a 2010 Honda CRV EX-L
by crvbliss on 07/29/2010... and I love it. My daughter bought a Civic there years ago, my wife bought a Civic about two years ago and, when my '99 Pontiac Grand Prix (which I owned because my son ran up the miles on his lease) had to be put out to pasture, I ended… up here. I bring the wife's Civic in for regular service (where they do a great job). I looked at a wide range of choices, including mini-vans, three other brands, a range of used car ads, etc., and got hooked when I saw one in the showroom and sat in it. I am mildly disabled and have a problem getting in and out, and also wanted good visibility and more. The CR-V was solid, and handled well (tight, solid) on the test drive. And comfort etc. was there. The sales people met me on the lot the first time and when I returned six days later worked with me to get me what I wanted at a price I could accept. I scaled back by foregoing the navigation system and the rear view camera; they worked with us to find the right mix between payment and down payment, and I picked up the car at the end of the next business day. Great job on the prep, the paperwork, etc. And all of the issues and options were fully explained including at the end of the lease. So do not hesitate to look at the wide range of options at Commonwealth, and ask for Keith Audy. This family is part of the Commonwealth family.Fabulous Experience!
by nhmomoftwo on 07/22/2010My husband and I came to Commonwealth as "cold" customers. We called, got a quote, & then came in. We hadn't been referred or knew anyone who had shopped there but, you would have thought we had been life-long customers based on the… friendly welcome and willingness to stay past closing. We arrived about 20 minutes before the end of their day and yet they were gracious in remaining open and getting us the payments we were looking for without it being a hassle. We left with a fair deal & drove off in our leased Odessey the next day in a upgraded model from what we thought we could afford. We had been shopping for about a month, never owned a Honda, & were considering other makes of cars too but, now will defiantly recommend Commonwealth.Overall Great Experience
by lisaraw on 07/20/2010My husband and I are having twins and our accords weren't going to cut it! We recently purchased a Honda Pilot from Commonwealth Motors of Lawrence, MA. The sales staff was very friendly and knowledgable. We had been shopping for Pilots… in our area and had some bad experiences with overly pushy and aggressive sales people. We were relieved not to have to deal with this type of sales people at Commonwealth. We will recommend Commonwealth Motors in a heartbeat to anyone who asks!Great Experience Commonwealth Mtrs., MA Honda Odyssey Purchase
by joycefran on 07/14/2010We purchased 2010 Honda Odyssey from Commonwealth Motors of Lawrence, MA. We were over mileage on our 2008 Pilot and had to pay payments until Feb. 2011, plus the 20 cents per mile. Paying on the Pilot for another 8months would have been a… nightmare. Other dealers would not help. Commonwealth Motors, Lawrence, MA kept payments the same as we were paying and for only three years, which was the same as our previous lease. Would have been $4500.00 out of pocket plus another year on payments to get us out of this problem. They were so nice and they promised to change cloth to leather and get heated seats and we got everything free and when it was promised. My niece purchased her car here and that is why we went to them. Nice people and the experience was a joy.Great Experience at Commonwealth Honda
by mascan on 06/27/2010My wife and I had decided on purchasing a Honda Civic. We visited a few Honda dealers in the area where we received bottom line quotes from numerous sales representatives. Not happy with what we were hearing, I recalled driving past… Commonwealth Honda on my way to and from work and decided that we should give it a try. I completed an online inquiry on the Commonwealth Honda web page and received a call from Craig Clarke within a few hours. He quoted me a price that was significantly better than the other dealers. Upon our arrival at the dealership, we were greeted by Kimberly Daher who introduced us to sales rep Jeff Donahue. Jeff took us out for a test drive and proved to be extremely knowledgeable when it came to the Honda product. We then sat down with Jeff and hammered out a great deal which included receiving top dollar for my 1998 Honda trade-in. My wife rang the bell and we were on our way! Next we met with Robert Florent and Sean Brown who explained our security system, extended warranty, and financial options. This part was always a high-pressure experience with other dealers but I found both gentlemen to be friendly and honest. We were very impressed with the entire process and felt that we made the right choice. When I returned to pick up my new car, Jeff was closing another deal so Robert took time to educate me on my security system. Jeff then took me through a complete review of the interior workings of the vehicle and I drove off knowing, in no uncertain terms, that we had made the right choice. From start to finish, the entire staff made us feel like they cared about us and our new purchase. It was easily the best car buying experience that we ever had. In the days to come, we received numerous e-mails from Commonwealth Honda employees congratulating us on our new vehicle and offering their future services. A Thank You letter arrived from President Charlie Daher and Jeff personally called to follow up on our purchase. Finally, a box of gourmet chocolate chip cookies was delivered to our home in appreciation of our business! While we usually dread the process of buying a new car, Commonwealth Honda and their A+ service made the experience downright enjoyable! We're looking forward to bringing our car in for regular maintenance as I've already spoken to other customers who have nothing but great things to say about the service department. And we will be returning when it's time for another new car. Thank you Commonwealth Honda!positive experience at commonwealth motors
by meli1219 on 06/18/2010I recently decided to purchase a new vehicle after my other car was getting too expensive to repair, and my boyfriend's family has always gone to Commonwealth Motors, and after my experience there, I see why. We made an appointment to stop… by and we were taken care of right away. We met a car dealer named Gary and he was wonderful. I knew what kind of car I wanted and he didn't try to con me or leave out any useful information. With my interest in a Honda CRV, he was very attentive and answered all of my questions without taking advantage of me. Gary was very honest with me and he really made sure to go over every single detail with me until I was comfortable. This was only my second time purchasing a car and the first time was from a [violative content deleted] and Gary and Commonwealth Motors definitely made it a pleasurable experience for me this time around.Good
by jsm5 on 06/04/2010I recently bought a new Honda Odyssey 2010. The experience with this dealer was very good. The sales person Eliezer was really a professional and very friendly person. He is very knowledgeable and he answered all my queries and… explained to me everything about the vehicle. He even took me for a walk around their dealership including their service center. Their offer was good and there was no pressure, and I purchased the vehicle on the same day. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I would recommend this dealership to everyone who is planning to buy new Honda at a great price. My Commonwealth Experience!
by hondalady30 on 05/29/2010I recently bought a new Honda Fit that I absolutely love! Funny thing was, I didn't even go there for a new car but after shopping around, I realized that I could actually afford a brand new car for the same as buying a used car in other… dealerships. I drive a hard bargain, and Lance was very patient with me. In no time at all I was driving away, happy with the salesman, the deal, and the car!Would recommend
by lbenjamin on 04/26/2010Making a deal on a car is not typically a fun process but I had good luck at Commonwealth Motors with Andre Willis. I did all my research and went into Commonwealth Motors prepared with a figure of what I thought I should pay for a Honda… CRV with all the extras. Andre was easy to work with and made the proess simple for me and I got a great deal. I would ask for him personally, I believe he is the sales manager. He was very detail oriented, honest, got all the right anwsers to our questions and got us exactly what we wanted.Commonwealth Honda
by md69holla on 04/22/2010I have done business with Sam before in the past. He is a awesome person to work with and is also very helpful. We came in and he got us the deal we wanted. I suggest going to him if you are looking to buy a honda from commonwealth.… You wont regret it! Commonwealth offers a clean and comfortanle shopping enviornment. They took care of all my registration and all the paper work for me. by stevem2425 on 04/23/2010Paul is a salesman I could work with. Most salesman force you into buying. Paul listened to what I wanted and showed me whathe had that matched what I was looking for and let me decide what to buy. He did not force the highend product on… me. I test drove the cars I was interested in an I told him what I wanted and how much I wanted to pay and he gave it to me... They should call him no hassels Paul... SteveHappy Customer
by katarza on 04/15/2010I purchased my new Civic LX AUTO on 4/10/10 through Commonwealth Motors in Lawrence. I have done an extensive research about what car I want and what I expect from the dealership. After getting multiple quotes from the different dealers in… my area I decided to go with Commonwealth Honda as they absolutely met my expectation. From the moment I got in touch with them for the first time I felt being heard and listened to. I never felt being pressured and all of my questions were answered in a timely manner via email or over the phone. Joe Gerbino (Business manager) and Mike Simon as a sales rep were wonderful to provide me with any information I had requested. After they answered all of my questions (including pricing) I went to the dealership to test drive the car. I was greeted by Joe who then introduced me to Mike. Mike showed me the car, answered my questions/concerns and we went for the test drive. During the test drive I like to concentrate on a driving not on the conversation. Mike sensed that and didn't try to engage the conversation unless I asked him a question. Mike was right on the money by allowing me to "feel" the car. Once we got back Mike went through all the pricing and I presented my findings. We both found the common ground without hassle, without being 'double" teamed up...it felt very good that I can express my thoughts and what I want and actually being listened to. Every single step of the way Mike was there making sure I receive absolute attention. Once the price was set up financing part came up. I got approved for what I wanted (1.9%). In total I spent about couple of hours in this wonderful and friendly dealership feeling very good about the entire process. Once I notified my insurance company I came back on Monday (4/12) to pick up my car which was ready and waiting for me. I met Mike again who, once again, answered additional questions that I had. He also showed me the service department and explained everything I needed to know. The service dep. seemed to be very neat and tightly organized. Everyone seemed to know what they are doing. No staff wondering around doing nothing...I was impressed. Cleanliness was very impressive considering that it is a service department and a lot of things can be going on at the same time. Overall, excellent experience and I would HIGHLY recommend this dealership to everyone who is on the market for a new Honda. Such a refreshment to see dealership very well organized, professional, friendly and most importantly knowledgeable and willing to make it happen. Keep up the good work.
