DISHONEST SALES PERSON
by cooldorky on 10/24/2008I went to purchase a 2009 A4 2.0T Quattro, and the experience started off pleasant. When we actually started talking deals on specific cars, however, it went sour. I told the dealer the features I was looking for, and the dealer… disappeared into the sales manager's office. After a few minutes he came back and said he "found our car." He pulled up the vehicle information, and sure enough it was just what we were looking for. We started haggling over price, and after the dealer showed me the invoice, we agreed on an amount over invoice that I was satisfied with. Throughout the negotiation I repeatedly said that the deal wasn't final until I could see the car. The first time, his response was "the car is fine." Later, he finally said that the car wasn't actually at his dealership, and that they would need to have it driven over and I could pick it up the next day if I would leave a deposit. They were VERY pushy about the deposit, which I refused to leave, and I said it would be a dealbreaker if they required one. Finally they relented, and we signed a purchase order and I was told to come back the next day. The next day I receive a voicemail at home, and the dealer says that the car "hasn't landed anywhere yet" and was actually still on a truck being delivered from the port. He said that they were trying to divert the delivery to his dealership and were hopeful they could get it in one to two days. Being skeptical, I plugged the VIN number (from the invoice he gave me) into google, and low and behold there was the car at another metro DC Audi dealership. In case you're wondering, the reason it wasn't obvious where the car was from the invoice, it was because he had covered the dealer address on the photocopy he gave me. I called the other dealership to confirm that they had the car, and I was told "yes, it's right here in my show room." HOWEVER, there was already a tentative sale on it, which is why it couldn't be released to Tischer Audi! I called back Tischer and listened to the sales person AGAIN tell me all about the vehicle still being in transit from port, and finally told him that I knew it was at the other dealership and couldn't be released. The sales person refused to admit that he'd been caught, claiming that the other dealer must be mistaken, and I finally just told him the deal was off. As luck would have it, the contemplated sale at the other dealer fell through the same day, and after I dropped in to look at the car (and verify the VIN number was the same that Tischer tried to sell me), they were kind enough to honor the price I had negotiated with Tischer. All in all, I can understand what happened -- Tischer found my car at another dealer and intended to just do a dealer swap, not knowing that someone else was already in the process of buying it. But instead of simply telling me that, they made up a story about my car still being in transit. Given the situation, I'm glad I refused to leave a deposit. Don't do business with these people. They think they are smarter than you and will lie to you to keep you from leaving the table. I ended up buying the car, which I am thrilled with, from the other dealer, and I'm glad my business went there instead of to Tischer.We will always buy our cars from Audi Silver Spring

Although the car was being shipped from overseas, he kept his word and held the car for me.… I knew I was getting a great deal on the price as he used the same pricing structure that he did with my friend who also purchased a Audi a few months earlier.Part of the Audi Family

Decided to look around and found the Audi Q5 at Audi of S.S. Johnny, our salesman, was warm, friendly, low pressure and… extremely knowledgeable! Audi gave me a very fair price on my trade-in and treated me like family. Johnny along with James and Frank made the whole process a pleasure. We did feel like part of the Audi family and were treated as such. I would highly recommend this dealership and particularly Johnny if you need a great salesman!Excellent experience

That's why we went to this dealership, even though it's not closest to home. Our pleasant… experience with Johnny is why we found no reason to go elsewhere, and why we ended up buying from Audi Silver Spring. I asked specifically for Johnny when I went to the Automobile Blvd dealership. He was extremely pleasant to deal with, both on-site and online. He let us do extensive test drives of several models, which was key in our being happy with our choice. Even though he had a very close substitute on the lot and was clearly interested in moving it, once he understood that we wanted a specific color/interior/options combo, he made the special-ordering process a pleasure. Based on what I read on other forums, the price we negotiated was reasonable. After we signed the papers, he kept us informed till the car was delivered, and at delivery he painlessly took care of a minor issue. Overall, I recommend him most highly. The dealership itself is nice to visit (only had sales exp. so far -- no need yet for car fixes, luckily!). A major positive point is that they keep manual-transmission cars on the lot. A stick is a must for us, and being able to test-drive a stick-shift car makes this dealership a must-visit.Good Sales Person

by jb38 on 05/17/2011updated 05/13/2025Finding a 2011 Q5 with a 2.0T engine is extremely difficult, and after visiting all the Audi dealers in the Baltimore/Washington area- we chose Audi of Silver Spring primarily for the efforts Johnny Franco made to earn our business. He was… extremely helpful, knew the product well- and there was nothing that he would not do to earn our business- all the while without exerting any undue pressure on us. It was the best experience we have ever while purchasing a new vehicle. Johnny diligently researched all my questions and was quick to respond with accurate answers, and while negotiating the final purchase price was extremely clear in exactly what the vehicle was going to cost- and gave me a full breakdown on how the final number was determined. (I had trouble with another nearby dealer who would never break down the final cost- VERY ANNOYING). Everyone I met at the dealership was extremely helpful, professional and knowledgeable and made this process painless. We had shopped around for a replacement of my wife's old Honda and she wanted a 5 door hatchback for the upcoming baby. We looked at the Mazda 3 (cheap interior) the Honda Fit… (decent fit and finish but didn't really feel as if it would hold together very long) and the Volvo hatchback (she thought it was funny looking). We set up an appointment with Tom for a Saturday morning and he had EXACTLY the car we wanted all ready for a test drive when we arrived. Tom was very knowledgeable and made our morning of buying the car pleasant. We finished up the paperwork, went to lunch and the car was ready to take home that afternoon. I highly recommend Tom! My wife and I still drop by when we are in the area to visit!Johnny Franco

With top brand name comes awarding top notch customer service and Steve and Mike truly reflected that kind of service. Prompt and thorough service and right to business with friendly… and laid back attitude. Can you ask for more? They both made things happen and at no point made you feel uncomfortable or out of your class like SOME brand name dealers. Johnny Franco is the most friendly and accommodating auto salesperson I have ever dealt with. Together with his Sales Manager, they quoted me a price which they… honored, even though the car I wanted was no longer in stock once I got back to them. Then they found the car I wanted, told me exactly when it would be delivered, and helped me obtain the financing I needed. They also gave me a great price on my trade in. I passed two other closer Audi dealers to buy from them, and I am glad I did. It was totally worth the extra 20 minute drive to work with them to get the car I wanted at the price I wanted. I am very happy with the overall experience and would encourage others to make the extra effort to buy from them, and especially to work with Johnny Franco. What a Class Act!!!!Great Dealership

Johnny Franco was friendly, and informative- Not Pushy at all. I was not sure of the color, and wanted to shop price. I felt their… initial offering was a bit high. Johnny stayed in touch and told me he would try to better.I think I drove the car 3 times before buying. He was very patient , and made me feel good about my purchase. I did not have the same experience at the other 2 audi dealerships I visited.So , I bought the car from Johnny at SS Audi and I'm glad I did.Great buying experience

There were closer dealers but Audi Silver Spring had the car I wanted in stock. Johnny Franco was honest, knowledgable, and fair. I had a deal in mind… and was not interested in spending all afternoon going back and forth. Johnny Franco presented his offer, I countered with what it would take to close the deal (which I thought was fair to both parties), and he made it happen in a short period of time. The Sales Manager, Frank Gomez, checked with me multiple times to make sure my needs were being met. It was a great buying experience.Great salesman, great dealership
