Recall Notice: possible (Valve Stem fracture)
by dnutt7706 on 01/16/2025I bought a 2021 Ford f150 with a little over 42,000 miles on it 3 weeks ago off of Don Hinds Ford in Fisher's IN. Dealership failed to inform me that the truck had a MAJOR RECALL involving a possible (Valve Stem Fracture) in the engine. I… read that Ford says they don't have a solution yet to the recall but is suppose to by early 2025 and cover it when they do. Disappointed Dealership did not inform me of this. I probably would of still bought the truck knowing in theory that Ford is going to cover the problem.Dream Car!!

Don Hinds' Customer Service is excellent, and they made purchasing a used vehicle painless--from the great price offered, great financing offered, and great warranties… offered... just a super fun and easy dealership to work with! I am a true skeptic on used cars-this is the first time I've ever purchased a used car-and first time I've ever purchased a Ford- but the transparency of the vehicle's condition and safety ratings in addition to all the warranties provided through Ford as well as Don Hinds... not to mention the thorough inspection that is done by their service department before a car is actually put out for sale really sold me. Purchase of new Ford F-150 Lariat

Dismissive Management
by Don on 01/07/2023I purchased a used one-owner 2019 Chevrolet Silverado from Don Hinds Ford on 10-29-22. I live about 300 miles away from this dealership. Upon receiving the title, I discovered that they took the vehicle in trade on 3-9-22. Also based on the… Carfax, I discovered the previous owner took the truck to a Chevrolet dealer for an engine oil leak and oil cooler line replacement one week before he traded it. I noticed no issues on my short test drive of the truck, but only made it halfway home before noticing a definite engine knock. I made an appointment with my local Chevy dealer and took the truck to them for service. Seven weeks later, GM authorized and completed a full engine replacement on this truck. I requested Don Hinds Ford service records from their General Sales Manager on two occasions and he did not respond to my request. I suspect they knew there was an issue with this truck engine especially since I now know that it sat on their lot for over seven months in the current truck demand environment. I kept Don Hinds Ford management aware of this matter and simply requested that they reimburse part of my rental car expenses, since I was unable to use the truck they sold me for seven weeks. Their General Sales Manager gave me a dismissive response that “he was sorry about the engine and that they could have possibly provided me with a loaner vehicle if I was local, but he understood that was not feasible.” He also never acknowledged that I saved their dealership a significant amount by not filing a claim and using their offered powertrain warranty. I have owned and maintained dozens of vehicles in my lifetime and have never posted anything negative about any automotive purchase or service. But I would rate Don Hinds Ford service after the sale as the worst I have ever experienced. It seems to me their primary objective is dealer profits even when at the expense of customer satisfaction and service. I would advise any prospective customer of this dealership to beware.Hi Don, we are so disappointed to learn of this situation you have described. He was super friendly with with our daughter and allowed us to make a few messes (she shook… up a sprite and we opened it). We will be back when it’s time to upgrade!Wouldn’t go back
by Jay Mack on 07/17/2018I drove four and a half hours to pick up my Ford Transit 150 which wasn’t a bad value. However, I was told the body was very clean with no dings or dents and it was in great condition. Which wasn’t completely one way or the other but… definitely left a few things out. I understand a used van will have minor cosmetic problems. But there was a chip out of the windshield and the sliding door doesn’t close smoothly on top of 8 little dents around the truck. My salesmen was a pretty nice guy but I just wish he would have taken a better look at the truck so I knew what I was walking into. I ended up buying it anyways bc I needed the truck and I rented a car to drive out to buy it and would have cost me too much to not buy at that point. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the door wouldn’t close properly, superb job “inspecting” the vehicle prior to my arrival. All in all, not too pleased, I love the van but now I have to pay to get my door fixed and a new windshield on my van that cost me just under $25,000.Paul & Judy Wilson

Sarah sought to learn what I wanted and then proceeded to make my desires become a reality. Even though it took from March… until June for us to finalize the purchase, I never felt pressured or like I was taking too much time. In my opinion, that is exactly the way car buying should be. I love that Sarah let me buy my car and didn't try to sell me a car!Awesome experience

I went into Don Hines and told my sales man that I didn't want to be jerked around. I liked Jake, he didn't jerk me around, and he let me take two cars home to… test drive, which is ultimately what sold the car. I wasn't happy that they wouldn't come down on the price or give me anything in any way. The used car I purchased had some damage, and I wanted them to give me something to make up for it, but they didn't budge at all. I really liked the car though, so I bit the bullet and bought it anyway. They did not earn my loyalty for future purchases, but they were a LOT better than Byrd and Tom Morh who both jerked me around. I appreciated that they let me take the cars home to test drive and didn't have me sit in the dealership for hours on end feeding me lines of crap like the other two aforementioned dealerships. Overall, I would recommend them over some other places, but I definitely didn't get a 5 star experience. Then again, maybe my expectations of car dealerships are too high.
