Bait and switch - and lies!
by DayRider30 on 06/25/2016Just wasted 5 days of my life wading through the deceptive practices of Sherri Pederson and Zana Belmer at Napleton Ricer Oaks Honda. First, they quote me a great price on a vehicle, then tell me they don't have it in stock. No problem,… they said...they'll do a dealer trade for it. Nope - can't get it from another dealer. Don't worry, they can order one and have it in 10 weeks. After repeatedly asking to confirm THAT vehicle for THAT price, I don't get any definitive answer. Finally, after 5 days and my ultimatum email, Sherri drops the bomb(s): not only can I NOT order the vehicle (because "Honda won't guarantee that they'll even build it"), but even if I could, it would now have to include a $1590 protection package (winter mats, splash guards, cargo tray, wheel locks and ?!?pinstriping?!?) that she claims Honda is putting on all these models. Funny, the 10 or 11 other ones I've seen at other dealers don't all have those items. This was clearly a way of getting the price back up to a level they could actually live with. I've had at least 3-4 other dealers be up front about not being able to help me. At least they were honest and didn't waste my time. I don't know if Sherri and Zana's shady tactics are representative of how this entire dealership operates, but I implore you to take your business to somewhere that doesn't outright lie to you. Salespeople like Sherri and Zana are the ones who give that profession a bad reputation.Bait&Switch
by vagabond4 on 05/29/2016Went to Napleton Honda for an advertised online Pilot, $35,502. After trade in and all related fees price was over $44,400. What does this suggest about this dealership? Please read before purchasing from this dealership
by Nicole2581 on 05/17/2016My husband and I found Napleton River Oaks Honda while browsing Trucar.com. We were contacted within hours of inquiring about the vehicle online. We live 3 hours from the dealership but decided to make the drive the following day to… purchase a 2013 KIA Optima SXL. We arrived right before they opened and was finally able to finish up and head home at 3 pm. Eric was our finance manager. He sold us a warranty that was to include interior protection (tears, rips, etc in the leather) and coverage that if the car was to be wrecked and considered a total loss, the loan would be paid off. We trusted him and did not read the pages and pages of supposed coverage. My husband and I are both 3rd shifters and at this point, had been awake for 27+ hours, was sleep deprived and ready to go home so we trusted Eric's word that we were purchasing what he said was included in this warranty. 10 days after purchase, I had to take the car to the local KIA dealership due to a gurgling noise coming from inside the dash, oil leaking, the back up camera and stero unit malfunctioning and the passenger door handle breaking off. At this time is when I read the warranty information and discovered the warranty did not include all coverage promised. I have attempted contact with Eric over a dozen times and have yet to receive a call back. I even went as far as to leave a message for Frank (the GM) and also, no response. I decided to try contacting the general finance department and was FINALLY able to establish contact with Richard who is also a finance manager. He was very helpful and apologetic and assured me he would pull my paperwork and get to the bottom of this. He never called back and never answered or returned the many, MANY voicemails I have left attempting to get this resolved. Also, I drove around for THREE weeks with expired dealer tags because their title department could not produce the necessary paperwork on time for me to legally register the car. I asked for them to extend my dealer tags being this issue was beyond my control and they declined. I asked for them to type a note simply stating the circumstances of the situation incase I were to be pulled over (I was by the way) and again, they declined. The people at Napleton River Oaks Honda are unprofessional and lack proper etiquette and basic customer service skills. They were all "smiles" and genuinely helpful until the sale was complete. They do not care about their customers and GOD forbid, if you do indeed purchase your next vehicle from them? Pray that the vehicle is in immaculate condition with 0 chance of ever breaking because it will be a nightmare attempting to get even the simplest of problems solved. And, if you purchase a warranty, do NOT take their word for what it includes, READ the fine print!! For your own protection.Five Stars
by iabdelrahman on 02/03/2016updated 02/16/2016From the time i walked in to service my car, i felt really comfortable and felt like i was being taken care of completely. Thanks to Janice for her professionalism and great customer service skills. I rarely feel comfortable when going to a… dealer, because everyone knows they have to shell out that cash, but i must admit, the prices were really fair. I would recommend Napleton Honda at River Oaks to any of my family and friends for great service. Keep up the good work! Another very satisfied customer!Go see frank
by Abuaman1975 on 02/03/2016I have purchased many vehicles in my lifetime, this time it was different. I dealt with the general manager Frank who is very straight forward and we made a deal. I was out of the dealership in one hour with the new civic, one hour WOW.… Next day he calls me and wanted to know what did I think of the overall process, you kidding me, IT WAS GREAT. Go see this guyThank you so much for taking the time to leave this wonderful review. At Napleton River Oaks Honda, we strive to provide all of our patrons with 100% customer satisfaction and it's a pleasure to hear that I was able to do just that. Don't hesitate to call or stop in if you should have any additional questions or concerns. Best regards, Frank O'Deh - General Manager | 708-868-0100
Exceptional Experience
by Adrienne22 on 10/17/2015updated 11/10/2015I was extremely pleased with my visit to Napleton River Oaks Honda Dealer in Lansing, IL over the Holiday Weekend. My sister and I stopped by hoping to get a good deal. By the time we left, the “good deal “turned into a feeling of… accomplishment beyond our expectations! Sales Consultant, Earnest Holmes and New Car Sales Manager, Glen “Ty”Smith went over and beyond being helpful, courteous, professional and accommodating. They showed us they care about people by ensuring we received the very best deal for the very best price!! I felt a real need met a true blessing!! I was beyond pleased and am still smiling because these guys are the best!!Adrienne, thank you for taking the time to write this fantastic review! Horrible
by William126 on 10/25/2015I have never been more insulted by the blatant lies and disrespect Andrew and Frank have shown me. The desperation was pathetic. Any human being with half a brain would never allow these two [non-permissible content removed] to touch… anything that has to with your personal information. I do not recommend this dealership to anyone. There are plenty of other places to go to. Dealerships are a dime a dozen and it looks like this one just can't make the cut. The owners should reevaluate their chain of command. There can be real potential but this place needs to be cleaned up. Napleton has a very good reputation it's sad employees like this are damaging that hard earned name.William, we are discouraged to hear of your unpleasant experience during your recent visit to Napletons River Oaks Honda. I would personally like to apologize for the behavior of some of our staff. I assure you that changes have been put in place to prevent these occurrences from ever happening again. We have coached the staff in your review and made absolutely certain that the current staff members are much better educated and also very pleasant in customer response and need of attention. We will not tolerate rudeness to our customers from our employees. We would welcome the opportunity to meet your expectations in the future. Feel free to contact me directly if you have further concerns. Sincerely, Frank O'Deh - General Manager | 708-868-0100

Very Happy and Excited Customer
by Bettyboop38 on 03/31/2015I Came into the dealership looking to purchase and used car. My Salesman Jermaine 'Shack' convinced me to buy new. He helped with everything step by step. He was wonderful help also along with the other staff as well. I love him for that… and now I'm a happy camper with a new 2015. Shack your the greatest. Thanks again......Jay & Shack were great
by MMT33 on 08/08/2014Jay S. and Jermaine S. worked with us to get a great deal on a used Honda Odyssey. We came in to see a particular used minivan that we had found online, and we bought it on the same visit. Personally, I have never enjoyed the car buying… process in general, but Jay and Shack made it is pleasant as possible. Please stay away from this dealer
by waqqas on 08/24/2010I am really upset at how this dealer tried to screw me. The manager steve is a complete [violative content deleted] and will try and manipulate in any way possible. I was told I had a bank fee of 850$ and when I called the bank no such… thing existed. They also lied about my interest rate, lie after lie I left the dealer. I also felt they did not appreciate my time, almost as if I had all day to buy their car. Take your business else where. This place is a JOKE!!!
by cdeeg on 04/28/2010I bought a convertable from them and when I went to put the top down, it wouldn't go down. I brought it in and they said that it was suppose to be sent over to their Dodge dealership but they sold it instead. They said it was under… warrenty so I could bring it in to any Dodge, I chose one close to home as the dealership is about 40 miles away. The Dodge dealership said that it was not covered as it was user error so they charged me $120 and said it may be up to $3000 to fix. I said no way and brought it back to them, they said they would take it to their dealership. They gave me a rental car and sent me on my way. The next day the service girl Kathy called and said that the sales people said that I wasn't suppose to get a rental car so I had to bring it back or pay for it myself and that they also broke the part while trying to fix it so it will be about 4 more days. I am now on day 7 with about $350 in rental cars and $120 in other charges and I still don't have my car. They say they pride themselves on customer service but I have yet to hear an apology or even have a manager call me. There is also no brake pads on my car and also no windshield wiper fluid, they obviously don't care much about the condition that they sell their cars in. The fact that I am paying for a rental car for something that is clearly not my fault is insane. They are very pushy and will try to scam you any chance they get. Do not trust them. The only person that I would ever trust would be Kathy(Cathy) in the service department. She is the only one who returns phone calls and seems to be honest. Roy, Tony, and Steve in the sales department - STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS!!! Very shady! Danny in the service department will tell you that the car is in great condition but he obviously never even looked at it. Apparently all the men don't have enough balls to handle customer service and issues and the woman there is the only one who can handle it. That is sad.Best experience I ever had!! Thanks
by breina on 04/22/2010I started looking for a preowned Honda online and put my information in on their website. Shanice contacted me right away and was able to answer all my questions. Even the used car manager called me to see if I had any other questions. I… went to the store later that afternoon but I couldn't buy it that day because I didn't have my down payment until Friday. Tina called me the next day and asked how everything was during my visit, I was always able to call Tina if I had any questions and she was very helpful. They were very honest about everything, including the small scratch on the back bumper. I explained everything was good, Garvey, my salesman emailed me all the information I requested and we wanted to come back on Friday. I bought the car last Friday and he even saved me a little bit off the internet price and agreed to repair the scratch on the bumper. I came back on Monday to have them fix the scratch and they did. I was only there for about 1 hour and their friendly service department made me feel welcome as well. This was my first time buying a car and I would definitely be coming back here for my next purchase!!Great Experience
by gsdfanatic on 01/18/2010I just purchased a new 2010 Honda CR-V EX-L from Napletons River Oaks Honda (ROH). It was a pleasurable experience. I made inquiries to five different Honda dealers and found that ROH was more competive on price than the others when using… the Internet. ROH has a full internet staff that stayed in constant contact through the whole process. Others contacted me once and never called back.I went in to ROH about a week and a half ago to see if they would honor the Internet price and they did without any hesitation, even though the exact car we wanted was not in stock. They were also very competive on their dealer added items, much cheaper than one dealer we had priced. Albert Berg was our salesman, and he was very attentive to every question we had and never put any pressure of any kind on us. We signed paperwork that day and the car was being assembled on the following Monday. By Friday of that same week, the car was delivered to the dealer. We picked it up the next day. We are extremely happy with our new purchase and was highly impressed with River Oaks Honda. I would recommend them to anybody. I would recommend that you do your homework first so you know when you are getting a good deal. Why hire ethical people when you can hire [violative content deleted].
by clubtp on 12/02/2009First they tried to get me to pay the actual Retail price for a used vehicle. Then had three minions attempt to get my original bid higher. After hours and hours of waiting as the salesman disappears again and again we settle on a price.… The finance manager rushes me through paperwork and signing and it is not until a couple of days later that I go through the paperwork with a fine tooth comb and notice that the price I had fought hard for was not there. In fact, it was $700 higher! Also, when I asked the sales guy how much the extended warranty is, he told me $1500. When I got into the finance department, there wasn't a $1500 option. The lowest one was $1900 and the average one was $2100. Also, there were a few items that needed repair prior to my purchase of which they said their mechanics will fix all up for me. Three days later, I bought it to my mechanic and he listed over $2000 worth of things wrong with the car, including a part recently replaced that doesn't even fit the vehicle. SO...if they want to fix their practice, they should fire everyone that currently is in contact with the customer and hire new people who are trained first in ethics and business. Not trained to deceive and milk the customer for what they're worth! I am not finished yet. I am bringing the car in after explaining this to a manager there whom I finally reached after 4 phone calls and 4 transfers to voice mails. She said they will fix the problems and cut me short when I was explaining the price difference but said to bring in the paperwork. This may get uglier, but there is a chance it will clear up to my ultimate satisfaction.LOOK OUT
by sorrysam on 03/30/2009I visited this dealer on a Sat. afternoon to look at a used truck and after several hours of b.s. and horrible sales tactics could not agree on a price at that time I left the dealer. Twenty minutes later they called and agreed to accept… my offer and wanted a deposit of $1,000.00 in which I agreed to (I really liked the truck). The following Monday the deceptive used car manager called to say they were selling the truck to someone that works for the dealer. I asked what about my deposit and he said they would refund it rightaway and he thanked me for understatnding(after I asked him what was the point of the deposit). It took them twenty minutes to charge my deposit and I am still waiting for them to credit my account.I called the General Manager and Internet Sales Manager to discuss the issue, neither have called back.(SO NICE). Buyer beware they add a $670 destination fee to all cars new or used and also charge a $150 doc fee. One more thing I told the sales manager I would be paying in cash and he indicated he did not really care, in fact he said he would rather me finance the truck because he would make more money on the deal.
