Napletons River Oaks Honda has the best sales person!
Great Place to buy that Bridge to No Where!
by EverydayJoe on 12/18/2008I purchased a vehicle from Napleton River Oaks Honda and I was very surprised at what I found. It was like going back into time where the stories about "The Used Car Sales" came from. These guys approach to was very fast talking,… quick thinking, I'm gonna get your business at all cost behavior. When they attempted to negotiate on vehicle price, they gave me a sob story about loosing money on vehicle and showed me a document with lots of "costs invested by dealership" since purchase. Problem was, the car indicated the same service multiple times---which didn't make sense at all. It appeared to be fluff and they never explained these recurring costs for vehicle service (4 oil changes. 2 int/ext body repairs, and more). They just pushed it by me like my question was invalid. Honesty, did not appear to be their strong suite, but they pushed the fact the my payments would be a specific amount...even though they never received a generated a credit report to verify if I even qualified for that 6.9% interest rate. It appeared their goal was simply to separate me from my money and say whatever was needed to get me into finance. They really give Honda Dealers a real Baddd!!! Name. They kept us there for hours, and finally when we went finance, they gave us the "bait and switch" from a finance point of view. Telling us we qualify for 6.9% rate and then telling us it only applies if we purchase their protection plans. Otherwise the rate would be 10.14% --which interesting enough equated to the same monthly payment amount. Well...what a coincidence. Then they quietly included other charges and fees without explanation and pushed you out the door. Funny how they keep us there talking about nothing for hours, but when it comes to explaining what you're financing, they all of a sudden offer nothing to say and hurried us out the door. The tactic is, they knew we were tired, and need to get home, so you would not object to the hurry-up and sign-up because they new we were too tired to think anymore about anything but sleep and work the next day. I think the States Attorney should look into this operation as managed by the Sales and Finance. We feel we were taken for a ride...no pun intended. Don't ask or complain about something afterwards. Their attitude was rude and abrupt as if we were ruining their day by raising issues with our car and experience there. They could care less about you and your experience. Can you blame them, after all, they have already separated us from the thing they only really cared about.......our money...once they had it....we became non-important people to them. I would Never Recommend this dealership to anyone....There is a Reason Why They Sell So Many Cars.....and It's Not for the customer friendly attitude!Nightmare
by JUSTBAD on 12/04/2008After deciding on the purchase of a "certified" CR-V from Honda River Oaks, we went through paperwork that took almost 2 hours in itself (4.5 hrs. in total). Finally driving off on a late Friday evening on the way home we heard a grinding… noise in the back end. The following morning we had the engine light come on. Because our day was filled we were not able to take the car back on Saturday and made arrangements with the dealer service center to bring it in on Monday. After attempts to talk to our salesman and the sales manager, calls to 3 people (including the GM) were not returned. When my mom took the car in on Monday she was sent home in a rental after waiting 2 hours. She was picked up and had to go to the rental office and sign paperwork and asked to pay a refundable $50. On Tuesday when she returned to pick up the car, she questioned a woman about the procedure she'd been put through with the rental the day before, the woman replied that "most people know how to rent a car". She then waited another 30 minutes and asked the sales manager Daenen why she was still waiting and he replied that "maybe you should've bought a newer vehicle." The car was returned with the engine light off on Tuesday, service center says no problem was found. As of Thursday morning the engine light is back on and the vehicle is going back in for service again. Still no reply from anyone at the dealership. Once they've gotten you to sign on the dotted line customers are in no way a priority here.Unethical Business Practices
by burd on 10/30/2008I had a similar experience to the one above. I was quoted a low FINAL price over the phone, but went to sign the paperwork and there was an additional $1,200 on it. I wasn't happy, but we negotiated it down to about $400 I think. Then I… went to sign again, and they'd added another $600 or so on for other "fees". At that point I walked out because they'd kept me there for about 4 hours by time that happened. I was very angry, but they ended up calling me, and I expressed my feelings about the way I was treated. Two days later, they offered me the same low price (FINAL, after tax, title, etc) and swore that's what I'd get if I came in. So I went in again that day, and the paperwork was STILL wrong. They said there was an error in the tax rate and to just sign it because they couldn't fix it that day. I refused and started to leave, but they miraculously were able to fix the paperwork at that point. So I bought the car, but there was an extended warranty included in the price. I called to cancel the next day to get my $150 back, but they insisted I had to come back in person (I live VERY far away). Eventually, after calling several times I got a person willing to mail me the sheet to sign and fax back. It's been over three months, and I STILL haven't gotten my $150 back. I've called weekly, sometimes daily, for three months now. I ended up with a great price, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. I wouldn't do business with these people again. I would like to note that there were a couple of very nice people. Dawn and Reba (maybe Sheba) have been excellent.Swindled
by unhappy22 on 09/29/2008Let me start by saying that my salesman was very helpfull. But,,,,be very carefull and check your paperwork very closely if you buy from this dealership. The sticker price on my car was 17,580 including destination charges. After talking… with Daniel(the Sales Manager) we first came to a 17,010 number, then 16,700. I bought the car with a 13,000 down payment. Admittedly by my own fault, I did not check my paperwork close enough and was charged more than the agreed upon 16,700 as my cash price for vehicle . I went back the next day to point out the mistake and was told, very rudely by Daniel(the Sales Manager) that all deals made are considered before destination charges, he explained that I had signed the papers and again very rudely told me he was going to do nothing for me. The sticker price before the 675 dollar dest fee was 16905. Remember our first deal number was 17,010. Why would he offer me a deal for 17,010( that's more than the price of vehicle before dest charges)? The bottom line is, we made a verbal deal for 16,700 as an after dest charge price, he made the paperwork out to reflect a deal that was made before dest charges. Again, I blame myself as much for not noticing the mistake earlier in the process, but I would like to warn anybody who plans to buy at River Oaks Honda, not to. If you have no other choice, be very carefull and check all of your numbers very closely before signing anything. By the way, I explained my problem to a friend, and she said that if she had known I was going there to look at a car she would have warned me not to as she had a bad experience there also.2011 Honda CR-V
by andym6 on 09/21/2013updated 08/05/2025My wife and I bought a 2011 Honda CR-V, we drove from Madison Wisconsin to Lansing & were greeted right away. Shack was very helpful & answered all of our questions. We then sat down with the finance director (Zak) and he was very good as… well & answered all of our finance questions. I would recommend this shop to buy a vehicle from. Thank you! Andy.Broken promises
by DaVonnaQ on 02/28/2013updated 08/05/2025We were very interested in a new 2012 Honda Civic LX. We negotiated a specific out-the-door price and financing rate with their online representative, Tina, via email. She assured us this price had been approved by her management and the car… was ready to be picked up. I took the day off of work and we made the 1.5 hour drive to the dealership. We arrived at the dealership ready to complete the purchase at the previously agreed upon price and financing terms. However, none of the management would honor the agreed upon terms, even though we had the email thread to show them the price and financing rate had been agreed to. They insisted on adding on a $1,589 "Pro Pack" that we did not request, nor agree to. They said that every one of their cars had to have this "Pro Pack" added on. They had NEVER mentioned anthing about this additional fee during our negotiations. When we called them on this they said that the internet sales rep, Tina, did not have any negotiating power and should have mentioned the "Pro-Pack." So why then did Tina say the deal was negotiated and agreed to and that the car was ready fo pick-up? The Manager and General Manager were disrespectful and unprofessional. Finally, the GM said he would lower the price oft this "Pro-Pack" to $500 as that was their price for this add on. We left without purchasing the car. They did not honor our previous negotiations. BEWARE, by their own word they admitted that they make over $1,000 on this "Pro-Pack" on every car they sell. This so called "Pro-Pack" includes such things as mud flaps, all- weather mats, trunk mat, door guards, etc. Regardless of whether you want those options or not they add that $1,589 to the price of the car. They were SHAMELESS. I will never consider doing business with them again. I will be contacting Honda Corporate so they are aware of this dealer's unprofessional conduct. I will also be making a complaint to the city's Better Business Bureau. Finally, I will let as many people as possible know of this situation and to stay away from this dealership.Napleton River Oaks Honda strives for 100% customer satisfaction and if you feel we did not meet your expectations please give me a call at 708-868-0100 x 1052. Good deal and good people
by ND1842 on 04/20/2013updated 08/05/2025I searched the internet for the car I wanted and found it at this dealership. Tina in the internet dept was help she set me up with Oliver in the sales department and we set up an appt to meet on Staurday. I arrived at the store and it was… very busy but Oliver was waiting for me with the car I was looking for washed and ready for a test drive. I really liked that he had the car ready to go and after the test drive we went inside and worked out the deal and an hour later I was in my new car going home. Over all good experience I would have liked to save more money but how dosent. My parents are looking for a new car in the fall and I gave them Olivers number and told them to call him.very responsive to emails but not truthful
by munster2 on 05/31/2011updated 08/05/2025Very responsive on email, but not afront by providing complete answers. did not have the vehicle; we feel our time was wasted for no good reason. Also the rep in the end got very disrespectful.BUYER BEWARE!!!!
by pdub143 on 03/17/2011updated 08/05/2025I flew in from out of town after speaking with Jeremy for almost 2weeks. I should have known by his pushy nature that he wasnt knowledgeable about the car I was purchasing (Mercedes S600). I flew in and he didnt even come into the airport… to get me?! How was I supposed to know where I was going? We get into his car and he has a BREATHALIZER MONITOR, attached in his car that he is actively blowing in to keep the car on. POOR FIRST IMPRESSION!!! The car was BEAUTIFUL but the keys didnt work. The key wasnt coded for the damn car? Couldnt lock it or pop the trunk. What they didnt know is that I already made an appt with a local Benz dealer to give the car a good once over before I signed anything. The car has 3 MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. A BAD BELT, A BENT RIM, AND A BAD TIRE! So the manager( I assume Tony Preston) tried to explain to me that all of these items are considered WEAR AND TEAR Items!! So I asked the rep from the Benz dealer if this car is safe to drive home and his exact words were "Ooh hell no!" So we get back to the dealer and the master tech named Jerry explained to me that he changed and checked all the belts on the engine, what he didnt know is that I baited him and told him it is more than one belt on the car. So the deal went south and then they wouldnt even take me to a hotel!! Thank God one was behind the dealer!! The next day they call me on speaker trying to apologize and make a deal. I kindly let them know that they are not getting one dime from me until those repairs are done by someone NOT THEM!!! THEY ARE ALL [violative content deleted]! BUYER BEWARE PLEASE!!!!! THEY ARE SNEAKY AND WILL TELL U WHATEVER YOU WANNA HEAR TO GET YOUR $$. A total waste of $ and my time!!! I wanna fly back to Lansing just to spit on them!!!!DO NOT GO HERE!!!
by dubbld123 on 04/24/2014updated 08/05/2025I must say it is a nice looking dealership... but be aware!! They play nice, and screw you in the end!! I was there a few months ago and purchased a car. I found out later they had stolen most of my down payment and put it in their pocket.… This in turn led to my payments being $50 more a month higher than it should have been. That comes out to over $3600 more I'll have to pay in the end. Frank, sure it's not his name as he is [non-permissible content removed] GM, did not help at all. Basically called me a liar! I hear they're under investigation on multiple fronts by the FBI, for theft and illegal business practices. Also, I had an agreed upon price by their internet department, and they made me fight tooth and nail for hours, to receive that price, claiming all these add-ons, which I didn't want! I blame myself in the end in a weird way. I should have gotten up and walked out the door... All I can recommend to you is to NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT PLACE!! THEY ARE [non-permissible content removed], AND DOWNRIGHT A DESPICABLE DEALERSHIP. FOR THAT MATTER, I WOULD STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE LOOKING FOR A CAR, TO NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS DEALERSHIP, OR ANY NAPLETON DEALERSHIP FOR THAT MATTER.I truly apologize you had such a bad experience, I am not aware of any situation that happened regarding this matter and I handle all customer concerns. Please feel free to call me so I can get this resolved for you 708-868-0100 and ask for frank. We do not tolerate any behavior of this sort. I am waiting on your call.
No Haggling
by Tiwana on 04/22/2013updated 08/05/2025So far, all of my purchases of Honda vehicles have been good, this purchase surpasses them all because I did not have to negotiate. I simply typed up my requests, handed it to the sales person, and received everything I requested. I truly… thank Ed Napleton River Oaks Honda for that.Great Service
by ssoliz36 on 10/02/2013updated 08/05/2025My wife and I were in need of a SUV and we had been to three other dealerships before stopping at Napletons River Oaks. We worked with Ryan to try and get the numbers to work for a 2011 Honda Pilot EX-L. After a few back and forth's, we… were able to work out a deal for the vehicle. The process was much easier than expected (a few snags along the way) but those were worked out and the level of customer service we received was outstanding. Not to mention, we love the vehicle and look forward to coming back for an Accord in the next few years.Great experience
by NORA3165 on 10/08/2013updated 08/05/2025I had an all around wonderful experience here! Shack was great! I will definitely send anyone looking for a Honda to this dealership, and to Shack! I also met Will, the General Manager. Very nice guy! Even the financing part of the deal was… a good experience - Zak was awesome! And lastly, I met Larry, who showed me how to work all the bells & whistles on my new car! Very nice man and very thorough walk-thru! A+ for Napleton River Oaks Honda!
