No frills but good pricing and treatment
by Sanevoice on 11/08/2018This is NOT at all a fancy dealership with plush surroundings, but that wasn't our priority. We were very happy with a new Camry we leased from them three years back and have just returned, and we got a good deal and good treatment from… them from start to finish. The lease price they quoted was significantly lower than what was offered in other dealerships for comparable non-Toyota cars as well as a quote in another Toyota dealership for the same car. They gave us a further break in price on learning we were Costco members that sealed our deal. Before that the salesman was very helpful in our test drive and in explaining the car features. As importantly, on conclusion of the lease when we decided not to buy another Toyota from them, they still treated us very well. Our Camry had sustained a few scratches scraping against garage doors, etc., that I tried fixing on my own with limited success. I decided against the offered free "pre-inspection" by a third party inspector before returning the car. Two imperfectly repaired areas of significant size were noticed by their service representative at return time. He took pictures and said the damage may be assessed by a third party to calculate the "excess wear and tear" for which we could be charged extra. We braced for a substantial "parting kick" of extra repair costs. But lo and behold, they decided not to bill for this and we paid only the standard and pre-specified disposition fee as per initial agreement. Lastly, we also had good experience, pricing and no push for unnecessary repairs at their (sister) service facility under the same ownership. I'm reviewing that separately.worst dealer in danbury

by helter80 on 03/28/2015My husband and I stopped in 2 weeks ago to look at a 2015 Toyota corolla. We met with Lisa, who was very friendly, and decided that we really liked the base L model. Lisa, like every other dealership associate, kept nudging us to place a… "hold" on the vehicle before leaving so that it wouldn't be sold to someone else in the meantime. We relented and placed the $500 holding fee down on the car, which Lisa assured us was fully refundable if we chose not to move forward with the purchase. After moving forward with the preliminary paperwork for the car, another dealership that I had recently visited called and offered to match Greentree's price on the next model up, which was too great of a deal to miss. When I called Greentree to cancel the deal, they were not so friendly anymore. Doug, the finance manager, actually begged me to stay with them, repeatedly telling me that the other dealership was lying to me and that I was making a mistake. He even demanded "proof" of the deal I was offered by the other dealership, which I denied to provide because it was honestly none of his business. When I asked Doug, Lisa, and Sue for the $500 holding fee refund, they all said that it was no problem. After 3 business days, it was still not refunded, so I called again. No one got back to me. After 5 business days, I called and spoke with the general manager who claimed to have no knowledge of the matter, but he took my credit card number to refund the money. The next day(today), after numerous phone calls to follow up, the general manager emailed and stated that they would not be providing a refund. Even the other Toyota dealership that I purchased the be the new Corolla from stated that the initial "holding fee" of $500 is a standard dealership practice, but that it is fully refundable or can be applied towards the purchase price. We are doing whatever we have to do now to fight this dishonest dealership and their shady business practices. Consumers are not targets.Good Dealership, Good Selection
by lilys on 11/09/2008My salesman, Mike J was nice and knowledgable and did not hesitate to show me the cars I was interested in and quickly test drove 2 that I liked. The deal I got for my 2009 Corolla was almost exactly what the edmunds TMV said it should be… so I was very happy about that. There were no problems, no hold-ups or anything. I would highly recommend this salesman. He was great.Greentree not so good!!
by billyein on 06/13/2008I bought a new Corolla at Greentree in April, the salesman was very nice and very knowledgable about the car. They gave me a fair price so I bought the car. They made me wait and wait to see the financial person until they finally told me… she was too busy and she would call me the next day. She did not call so I called them, she conveniently set me up for 5 years 4.9% financing. I reminded her that there was a 0% financing promotion which she did not know about and had to get back to me!! I set the appointment to pick up the car and none of the finance papers were ready. It also took them almost 10 days to get me the plates. About 2 weeks later I decided to buy another car. I went to see the same salesman again and he said that he wouyd try and locate the car I wanted. He said he would get back to me in a day or two. After 5 days I called him and told him I was still interested but since he never called I went to another dealer to see if they could find the car, (which they did). I went up to Greentree, talked to Juan and he located the vehicle for me but would not even take a dollar off the sticker price!! I told him that I walked into the other dealer and they were going to discount the car for me. He said the sales manager would not budge a dime off the sticker and if another dealer offered to take money off for me I should go to the other dealer!!. I left, went to [violative content deleted], bought the car at a discounted price and paid cash. Never heard back from juan at Greentree. My son just got his license, my daughters lease is almost up on her car and I would not go back to Greentree if they were the last dealer on the planet!!Don't Waste Your Time
by unhappy84 on 09/18/2013updated 06/04/2025I went to Greentree after finding the vehicle I wanted--a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4 Access Cab w/Manual Transmission--on THEIR website. After waiting for the salesman to check, I was told that it wasn't in stock. I was also told, after my… inquiry regarding the website, that it wasn't up to date. There is no excuse for this in our modern age of technology and instantly updating web pages. NONSENSE! I was then directed to another salesman, who said that he could find me a similar vehicle, but that I would need to sign a contract and leave a $1000 deposit. I did so, believing that Greentree would indeed produce a vehicle. It took them over a week to inform me that they could not find a vehicle for me. Personally, I doubt that they even tried, as I found one myself in Wallingford, CT after at most 30 minutes of online research. I returned to the dealership for a refund of my deposit on 9/13 and watched them process my credit card and hand me a credit receipt; nonetheless, as of today, 9/18, my credit card company shows no record of a refund, not even one pending. I called Greentree to inquire, and they stated that it was out of their hands. What lousy customer service! I wasn't, in fact, going to write a negative review until this incident. Do yourself a favor, and don't waste your time with theses people. They are the absolute WORST car dealership I have ever dealt with in several of the to states in my 50 years on the planet.GREENTREE WARRANTY
by smr4 on 03/15/2014updated 06/04/2025I bought a 2014 Toyota Highlander at the end of February. I had a flat tire after a week and needed a new tire. I paid $230 for the new tire because Greentree will not replace the tire in spite of the $2000 additional warranty I paid for… the $35,000 car. Be careful buying warranty from Greentree Toyota.Great experience - no hassles
by echobaymarina on 09/21/2011updated 06/04/2025I unfortunately was in need of a truck on short after being in an accident in one of our trucks, and the truck I wanted to replace it with I wanted a white truck. Although Greentree was just recovering from a post Hurricane Irene and they… did not have a white truck with the specs I was looking for, they took the time to locate the truck, drive to Long Island to get it and get it to me within three days. They also delivered it to me full of fuel and with no undue pressure to undercoat, or wheel coverage...all the stuff that occasionally dealers try to force on you. It was a great experience, the price was great, the service was great and it was easy.
About our dealership
What would make you think tires are covered by the car manufacturer (or dealer)? Tires on new cars are warranted by the tire manufacturer, NOT the car manufacturer. Did your warranty say anything about warranting the tires? Did you read the warranty before you signed it?
