  • Erik is Awesome!

    5 out of 5 starsby jonm721 on 02/08/2015

Just wanted to say I had an awesome experience with Erik Pliner as the salesman. No rush experience and was there to help about any and all questions we had about the car we purchased. No haggling price, just best experience in purchasing a car I've ever had.
    • Thank you for your kind words! We sincerely thank you for your business and hope to continue serving you for many years to come.

  • Made me an offer I could not refuse!

    5 out of 5 starsby MS_ALG_MB on 01/07/2015

We walked into the dealership with full intentions of confirming that we should extend our current lease. Our sales rep, Elijah, did not push to sell us a new car but simply explained the options. He worked with his sales manager twice, he came up with the perfect deal for us and we were out the door with our new car an hour later.

I just leased a C class from Mercedes Benz of South Bay for the second time. They made sure that getting my car was hassle free. I am very pleased with their service and professionalism. Highly recommend!

  • Great experience!

    5 out of 5 starsby mcheung1 on 12/23/2014

I leased a vehicle with the help of Arielle and her manager Lee. Arielle was very prompt with answering my questions. The transaction was smooth and transparent. If you are looking for upfront pricing, then this is the dealership for you. Many dealership will not commit to anything in writing but they did. However, don't take their transparency for granted. They will try their best to work with you.
  • Mercedes of South Bay Rocks

    5 out of 5 starsby StevenC300 on 12/19/2014

We just leased a new 2015 C300 and really had a great experience. We were repeat loyalty customers, and this was a year-end deal, so that might have had something to do with it. Nevertheless, our sales representative, Alex Gunkut, was exceptional; he made all the difference in the world. I'd highly recommend Mercedes of South Bay!
  • Poor Customer Service

    1 out of 5 starsby mbcustomer5 on 12/01/2014

I regret signing the lease as Mr. Lee Mehlman (Sales Manager) was demeaning and I was so humiliated when I went in to purchase my vehicle. My experience at Southbay Mercedes was terrible. I felt degraded and it seems to me that customer service and valuing your customers is not the priority of the Sales Manager Mr Lee Mehlman.
  • GREAT SERVICE

5 out of 5 starsby HappyMercOwner on 10/06/2014

Terek at South Bay Mercedes was great to deal with. Not only was my vehicle completed in the time frame but they got it done a week earlier than I expected. The part had to come from Germany and we expected it to be 14 days before the part even arrived and they had my car fixed well before that! Highly recommend the dealership, service department and particularly Terek!
  • Horrible Service

1 out of 5 starsby lokebiz on 09/30/2014

Do not talk to Martin R. He only wants to sell you the cars he wants you to buy. He wouldn't even show you the new 2015 C-Class.
  • Great Experience

Sales people easy to work with. No BS if you know what you want. Contact Fleet/Internet staff Erik P. He is very easy to work with. Overall 5 star experience while leasing the car.

  • my sweet treat..

    5 out of 5 starsby cmase00 on 12/03/2010

I visited Mercedes of South Bay while looking for a new car. I did not think that a Mercedes was realistic for me at the time and was most likely going to purchase a Nissan. After meeting with the a young man to discuss my finances he mentioned the idea of a lease. I had some preconceived notions on how a lease might not be for me (mainly miles), all of which were cleared up instantly. A few hours later, I drove off the lot with a brand new C300. It has been about 2 years since the purchase and I literally love my car a little more each day. The ongoing service from Mercedes of South Bay has been second to none. Having service done is a treat since there is such a great little cafe on the property. I recommend anyone in the market for a new car to see how affordable it is to drive a Benz from a 1st class dealer!
  • Worst place to take your car for service.

    1 out of 5 starsby anu007us on 09/27/2009

I took my Mercedes C240 for service to this place. I had a coupon in my email to receive 10% discount on total service cost. I gave the coupon to the service co-ordinator at the time while handing over the car. She accepted the coupon gladly. At evening I went to pickup the car and she directed me to accounts department where I paid more than $1400 for the service with an assumption that the coupon was used. But, later when I got home I took a close look at the statement and to my surprise the coupon was NOT used. Next day I called the lady and told the story and she said that she will look for the coupon in her office and let the a/c department know. After a week when I didn't hear anything from her I responded to the survay email from MB USA and mentioned the incident. After two weeks from then, I received a call from the same lady and she told me that she had found the coupon and accounts department is going to send me a check for the refund. I waited 1 month but nothing arrived in mail. I received a follow up call from MB USA asking about the issue, I told that they said to refund but didn't really refund a penny. The coupon is a bait-and-switch for new customers at "Mercedes of South Bay". I will never go or will never recommend someone to go there for service or for anything at all. Thanks Anurag Torrance CA

    1.4 out of 5 starsby lomita2 on 10/27/2008

Dealership required a credit check just to "sit" in car. Shame on them once. The dealership representatives verbally stated the vehicle we wanted was equipped with the options we requested, however, when reviewed in writing, the vehicle did not have the primary option we wanted, the 030 Performance Package. Shame on them twice. They offered us no discount from sticker price. Shame on them three times. They offered us 50% of the going value of our 06 trade in. Shame on them four times. Subsequently, they changed their tune, after explaining to them [another dealership] had offered us to test drive the same model vehicle, and no credit check would be required. Shame on them five times. Hat's off to MB of SB for permanently burning the bridge.
  • very satisfied with the salesgirl

5 out of 5 starsby lovelyme on 10/13/2008

I was very satisfied with the total purchase. They have a salesgirl-christina- she was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. i wanted an edge but i couldnt decide on what i wanted. she helped me look and wouldnt give me any price on any of them until i found one that i just had to take home. it fits me perfectly. she tried helping us sync our phone several times and has been calling us to get our first oil change done when she is there. i love the attention she gave us. she has a customer for life now. service like this needs to be compensated. there are not many girls in car sales, i was lucky to find one- me and my husband love her!
  • Highly Recommended Dealer

5 out of 5 starsby myak on 07/23/2008

I suspect that many people go to the trouble to write a review only when they have had a negative experience with a dealership. So, I am taking the time to make some positive comments. I first did some online research about C-class cars I was interested in - both here at Edmunds and elsewhere. M-B of South Bay has its new vehicle inventory searchable online, so I compiled a list of their cars that were of interest to me. I might add that this dealership has a large inventory of new vehicles from which to chose. For example they had 85 new C-class cars - 2 or 3 times as many as some other dealers in the Greater L.A. area. Jarrett Bayless handles Internet sales there and he was very helpful and easy to work with. He had an assistant bring up cars to show me and when I decided on the car I wanted I simply made him an offer on it. I had not previously asked for a quote since I knew the maximum I wanted to pay based on Edmunds TMV. My offer was accepted and I paid a price below TMV. The remainder of the transaction, from financing thru delivery of the vehicle, went very smoothly. It is worth driving some distance to give this dealer a try. Highly recommended.

  • Great deal with lousy service and extremely rude and racist staff

    3.3 out of 5 starsby gizmo9 on 11/03/2007

I saw the car I bought online and was called by a salesman. I told him I was interested and will be in that night. Once I got there I was pawned off by three salesmen. I noticed a low tire pressure light was on and the saleman told me don't worry about it, it just needs air. I pointed out that two hubcaps were missing and he said well there's nothing he can do. (no problem for me because I had some.) I got bumped out of line for financing because the customers behind me wer buying a more expensive car. So I decided to go outside and wait because I was getting dirty stares from the employees and customers for being in a t-shirt and jeans that's when I heard the first of many racial slanders by the employees about the customers. I pointed this out to my salesman and nothing was done about it. The day after I bought the vehicle I got a call back from the initial salesman I was with asking me if I wanted to sell my new vehicle on ebay......that's right sell my new car on ebay or trade it in to get something more expensive. Well a couple days later I decided to take my new car back because it is within the 30 day warrnety (day 3) to get it fixed. The salesman that worked with me acted surpised that I was back and I heard from a customer salesperson that that "those people are always complaining." Read my service review a repair quoted by a real Toyota dealer to fix the problem in one hour is reaching day 5 with no ready date or phone calls back.
  • If you want a good service, knowledgable and helpful staff...look elsewhere

I bought a used 2006 Tacoma from this dealer. The first thing is the tire pressure light was on, I was told don't worry about it it just needs air and since I was in late the maintenance guys were not able to look at it. I come to find out that the tire pressures were off. They are supoose to be at 29 psig I found three at 45psig and one at 50 psig. The rated prressure is 50 psig. I took it to Toyota to see if they could fix it since it was under warrenty they said they could do it but the warrenty was voided do to either changing of tires or rims. So I called SBM and was put on hold, hung up on and given the run around for eight hours. I told them the issue with the vehicle that it was still under the thirty day warrenty I did not even break a week yet. Their initial reply was it's just $500 to repair so why don't I just suck it up and do it myself. I took it back to SBM and they acknowledged the light was on before I bought it and it was known by them. I was told that it would have beena few hours so I waited. Eight hours later it was still not done. I was refused a shuttle and a rental because I didn't have a Mercedes Benz. Five days later my vehicle is still not finished and I got the run around for four days now. So If you do not have or look like you have money don't waste your time. This is the worse expereince from anyone I ever had.
  • MEAN, RUDE, AND INCOMPETENT SALES STAFF

1 out of 5 starsby kjllaw on 09/12/2007

I was contacted by Southbay Mercedes through Carsdirect.com. Sales person called and assured me that he has the specific vehicle - 2007 R350 - in stock and guaranteed to match the internet pricing. When I visited the next day after a long day at work, it just so happens that they did not have the vehicle and tried to get me into a newer 2008 model. Of course, they cannot match the internet pricing on the new models and will only give me $6,000 less than the Edmunds lowest trade-in value for my car. Basically, they wanted me to start the haggle. When I refused, the stocky sales manager started literally screaming in my face about me wanting little for their car and more for mine and when I still refused he just left. He was having a fit and it was totally uncalled for. I've purchased 3 BMW's 2 Lexi's and 2 Audi's during the last 7 years. Nevertheless, I have not expected this kind of rude behavior from a Mercedes dealership. It felt as if I was back in college haggling for a 10 year old Ford Pinto at a local used car dealer lot. My sales person, who was courteous but uninformed, then tried to get me into a ML, GL, and even certified used vehicle. Stupidly, it took me three hours to realize that I just had to get out of the dealership. Which should have been a quick in-and-out buy turned out to be a horrible three hours of unnecessary haggling, time consuming, and insulting experience. Now, I am seriously considering Lexus GX470 as instead of R350 just to be treated with some decency and respect.

This was my first car purchase and from what I've heard of others' experiences at car dealerships I tried to prepare myself for someone to try and hassle me on a car or price I didn't want. After a lot of research online on different manufacturer sites, Edmunds.com, and visiting dealerships I found a car I liked. I filled out the form on Edmunds.com to get the dealer quotes and I got two dealerships that had the exact car wanted. I first went to the dealer closest to me and did not like the service or the 8.25% apr they tried to give after I told them I already had a loan with 4.25% apr setup elsewhere. But I got an out-the-door price and decided to talk to the salesman at Power Ford to see if he could meet or beat that price, if anything else I could go back to the first dealer. The salesman at Power Ford was extremely helpful and was able to beat the price from the other dealership, not by much but every little bit helps. When I went to buy the car I was a little disappointed to find out someone else just bought it (even though they said they would hold it for me), but the salesman called another dealership and drove out there to pick up a new one. So I was able to get my exact car for a very good price, plus they gave me 2.9% apr so they made it a little better. When I'm looking for a new car I'll definitely be checking back with Power Ford in Torrance.
    • i went there too. they have only one girl selling and she is extremely helpful. she is not pushy which i loved. she is very professional. the day that i bought my edge, she had two customers waitig for her. one left after someone said she was with a customer. i guess they came back. she told me make an appointment with me becasue that happens. i was completely satisied!

  • GL 450 Amazing Experience

    updated 05/28/2025

Recently bought a GL450 from South Bay Mercedes at Torrance, California. As part of purchase, bought the entertainment package and the DVD players arrived a few days later, dropped my GL and got a GLK as loaner. Comparing the two cars, definitely happy to have got the GL, not that GLK is any bad, just that GL gives you the feel of a big truck but drives like a car. Also the air suspension on GL is the most luxurious experience. The CPO GL I got has so many of extra features, like Bi-Xenon HD lights, key-less entry and start and XM Radio, makes it a pleasant experience. Buying a car at South Bay Mercedes dealership was the most pleasant experience I ever had in my car buying project. Compared to the experience dealing with other dealerships, I was more respected, not pushed and was made to feel a important customer instead of being just a number. The internet sales associate Erik and finance associate Ego made our car buying procedure so stress free. Erik would respond to our queries instantly and listened to what I wanted and showed me cars that fit my needs, rather than push what they had in their inventory. Also, for all those who want to buy a CPO/Used car, please be flexible in you choice, as you may not have the exact configuration you like to be readily available in stock. I visited first to talk numbers, and Erik did just that, he did not insist on a test drive as I had no intent to drive till I first did the numbers. The next visit with my wife, was for test drive and finalize the deals. That's when Ego from finance patiently and methodically walked us through all the paperwork and worked a good % on the finance. Since it was very late in the evening by the time we closed the deal and had to rush back home, Erick drove the car for us the next day and dropped off at my place. Overall a very pleasant experience.
    • Thank you for the positive review of our dealership and Erik. We're glad to hear that he went above and beyond to provide you with a laid back and enjoyable buying experience. We sincerely appreciate your business -- happy motoring!
