We Like Thorson!

by toku on 08/30/2014Great peolpe and service. Talked to Merllin internet sales on the phone for hour or so told him what I needed and we made the deal with all of my concerns taken care of. The car was delivered the next day on a flat bed truck in front of my… house. Adam the salesman, we signed all the papers in the comfort of our home...no hassles what so ever. Everything up front no surprises. To bad my local dealer wouldnt give me the same deal. Funny thing is this is the same car I wanted them to get for me from Thorson. Amazing Customer Service!
by jsparisi on 01/30/2013updated 06/10/2014Let me start by saying: Car buying is probably the most uncomfortable, unpleasant thing in the world for me. Like many people, when the economy tanked in 2007/2008 my credit score took a dive into the VERY shallow end of the swimming… pool. So when our car died, I was beyond sick with the idea of car shopping-holding out for 26 days before I would even consider it. I filled out an online credit application and was e-mailed several hours later by a salesperson named Olivia N.-who I can only describe as one of the nicest, most patient people out there. I felt ZERO pressure when talking to her and more importantly, she didn't make me feel like a bad person for having low credit. She was extraordinary-even offering to come pick us up in South Whittier since Pasadena is a ways away. She assured me (the word she used was "guarantee") that we would be able to leave with a vehicle when we came in. She and I spoke nearly every day for eight days or so, where she answered every little question I had. She even made sure that the car we wanted (we visited the web site before we visited the dealership) would be available. One of the things that stresses me out the most about car shopping is the amount of time it takes to fill everything out, run credit, verify income, etc... I am not even lying, the last vehicle we bought-we were at the dealership for over six hours. (We went in in the afternoon, around 2, left between 8:30 and 9:00 pm). Olivia assured me that this would not be the case with us. We arrived on Saturday (01/26/2013) at 9 am. We had already been approved (thanks to Olivia) so it was just a matter of test driving, filling out actual copies of the forms done online and then signing the paperwork. We left that dealership by 10:30 am. It was an incredible experience to be in and out so quickly. And frankly, it probably would have been quicker if we hadn't chatted so much with everyone and then sat in the car before we left and just marveled at how wonderful everyone was. A special shout out to the woman in finance (whose name I cannot remember) who was just about the sweetest person. She actually thanked us for our business and if you have had credit issues like me, you know that usually you don't get treated very well. (Most places think they can treat you like crap because your score is so low and you are so desperate). She was just a lovely woman. Another special shout out to Gabriel in finance who helped us sign all the paperwork. He was so pleasant and kind and had an absolute gift for explaining all the nuances of the contracts/paperwork we were signing. Gabriel told me they specialize in securing financing for people with challenged credit. They did that for us and they treated us like human beings. So, in conclusion, please, PLEASE go see Olivia and everyone else at Thorson. We love our 2011 Nissan Cube and we are so blessed and grateful that Thorson approved us. Especially if you have credit issues-go see them. They are going to treat you so well-you won't regret it!I wanted to start off by thanking you for taking the time to leave this wonderful review. Caveat Emptor
by cljs on 10/29/2008We took our vehicle into the Thorson dealership for routine maintenance prior to a trip. This was a well-maintained vehicle with about 80,00 miles. Their original estimate was a reasonable few hundred dollars. During the day, the dealer… called us multiple times - each time raising the cost of repairs. Eventually the cost escalated to almost $3000. No arguing or questioning - we just told them to go ahead and make the repairs. When we picked the vehicle up, we noticed the driver's door creaking when opening and closing, but as we had to leave for the trip in morning, didn't inform the dealer at that point. On the trip the door got worse - it literally sounded like it was going to fall off. We also noticed the accelerator would make a clicking sound each time you pushed down or let up on it and there was rattling coming from under the dash. None of these problems were occurring prior to our taking our vehicle to Thorson, so when we returned from the trip, we took it back to Thorson to have it checked. Thorson called us later in the day to inform us that they were not responsible for any of these problems, because they didn't do work in any of these areas. It appeared to them that this was just normal wear and tear. They said it was unfortunate that these problem occurred at the same time they worked on the vehicle, although for a few hundred dollars more, they would be very happy to correct our problems. My advice regarding Thorson Motors: Caveat emptor - "Let the buyer beware."Getting a 2013 LaCrosse was Quick and Easy

2013 GMC Acadia

The dealership is welcoming, clean and comfortable (kind of fancy) and the staff is classy and first rate! Merlin F and Adam W went… above and beyond to get the vehicle, options and pricing I was looking for, and Wendy V, my personal sales representative was so helpful every step of the way. She even drove me for a coffee and helped with my decision on leather seat color installation. I never felt rushed or pressured. While there are several car dealerships in close proximity to my home, I drove 26 miles to Thorson Motors in Pasadena. I had to travel on the 10, 110, 5, 2, 134 and 210 freeways, consecutively, to get there and if you have driven in Los Angeles you know that this is no small feat!! But it was well worth it! I am definitely a Thorson Motors customer now! Thank you, Kim HKim, providing you with a first-class experience is what were all about. by mperesle on 09/03/2012updated 06/04/2025My husband and I went to Thorson after actually signing the paperwork to purchase a car at another dealership. The other dealer started giving us the run-around about actually getting the new car we had purchased. They were having to… trade another dealer for the car we wanted and after several calls, my car was in, my car wasn't in but was on the way, my car would be in the next day, my car wouldn't be in for at least another 3 days, I gave up on them and their condescending attitude and the car. We decided to go check out the GMC Terrain. I had seen the car after I had already started the process to buy the similar Chevy model. I love the look of the Terrain more than the Chevy and I like that it is a slightly higher-end car. We arrived on Friday night at Thorson. We were immediately drawn to a Terrain on the lot. It had everything we were looking for. We were greeted by Luke. We talked about the Terrain vs. the Chevy and eventually explained the situation at the other dealer. Luke was very honest and explained why the other dealer was probably having the difficulty they were having getting the other car. There was no excuse for their attitude but Luke was not trying to put them down to sell us a car. The Terrain was slightly more expensive than the Chevy we were purchasing. We went to the sales office and Luke and Debi, the sales manager, worked out a deal so that we not only got a slightly more expensive car that is more upgraded, but for the same price that we were paying for the Chevy. It was closing time for the dealer but at no point did we feel anyone was trying to hurry as along so that they could go home. In fact, we had our two sons with us and Debi even offered them some food that she had purchased for herself. We were taken to see Gabe in the Finance department and he did an awesome job walking us through each bit of paperwork and explained everything which had not happened at the Chevy dealership. Luke took the time to explain the features of our new car and answer any questions we had. Again, there was no rushing us, even though the dealership was closed at that point. The prep guys were gone so Luke took the car and used his own money to make sure we had at least half a tank of gas. We drove away with our new Terrain with exactly what we wanted that night. We brought it back the next morning so they could detail it and fill the tank the rest of the way. Merlin called us the next day to follow up and make sure we were completely satisfied with our experience and we are. We were treated with respect by everyone. No one was aggressive or unpleasant and even the financing process, which is usually tedious at best, was enjoyable because Gabe has such a great personaliaty. We are very, very pleased with our new car and with our experience at Thorson. Granted, we had just had an unpleasant experience at another dealership, but even if we hadn't had that comparison, I know the experience would have been just as good at Thorson. We would definitely recommend Thorson to anyone who is in the market for a GMC or Buick vehicle.The best service hands down!

He emailed me their lease specials. We went down there, Merlyn did a little presentation… on the car, we test drove the car, and got the deal he quoted over the email. No games and none of the typical car dealer sales tactics. Very smooth car buying experience. Elite, unparalleled, amazing experience

I felt like I was buying a Mercedes, and I hope that platinum experience of customer service always continues on and rivals German and Japanese… competitors. They even offered to deliver my new Buick to my home as it had only recently been delivered to their lot, and hadn't been prepped yet. I was just so pleased. I never felt any pressure to buy. No one condescended to me. Ron, my Sales Rep, Merlin, the Sales Manager, and Gabriel, the Finance Manager were all very pleasant, comical and professional....great guys! I would happily buy another Buick, especially from this dealer, in the future. I recommend them without reservation. The only one thing I'd mention is that I felt a little bit rushed in the finance department, but it wasn't a bad thing. It got me out and on my way faster. On that note, Merlin and Gabriel bent over backwards to get me the very best financing, and it paid off. Thanks for everything! 2012 Buick Enclave

Internet sales specialist gave me a price on a car. 8 phone calls later asked me to fill in the financials so he could run credit. after that calls me and tells me he made a mistake and the car would be 2K more.… He could not have made a mistake because he quoted original price to me several times. Bought the car somewhere else CHEAPER the next day.
