  • Classic Bait and Switch

1 out of 5 starsby Pat Barnes on 12/20/2024

Camelback Toyota advertised a deal on TrueCar; I inquired on 12/20/24. A salesman said the car was sold two days earlier. The salesman said TrueCar is a third party site that stole the info from Camelback Toyota, so Camelback is not responsible for advertising a vehicle that doesn't exist. In fact, rueCar enters into a "partnership" with dealerships. TrueCar receives vehicle and purchase offer information from dealerships, including the vehicle identification number and condition. TrueCar states on its web site: "We partnered with a national network of more than 13,000 dealers (representing about 35% of all franchised dealers) who share the belief that truth, transparency and fairness are the foundation of a great car buying experience." It's not a fun experience when a car dealership engaged in a classic bait and switch. It appears to violate Arizona's Consumer Protection Act.

  • Brent and Nick

5 out of 5 starsby Michael on 12/07/2024

I recently visited Camelback Toyota to get my first new car. I was a bit nervous and unsure about what to look for, ask, or how to negotiate the price. But Brent was an absolute lifesaver! He made me feel at ease and wasn’t at all pushy. He explained things clearly and pragmatically, and he even went the extra mile to show me the specials and give me honest reviews of the cars he and his family had driven. I’m so glad I went to Camelback Toyota, and I highly recommend Brent to anyone looking to buy a car. He really helped me make a great decision and get a fantastic deal.
    • Michael, thanks for sharing your wonderful experience! We’re thrilled to hear that Brent made your first car purchase so enjoyable. Our team strives to provide a supportive environment, and it’s great to know that you felt at ease. Enjoy your new ride!

  • Crooked and unethical! Don't buy anything there!

1 out of 5 starsby Val on 08/25/2024

8.24.2024 drove a new 2024 Land Cruiser. 8.24.2024 agreed on the price over the phone and made an appointment to be at the dealership at 4pm to sign all the paperwork and drive it home. Received a text message at 2pm that they sold it out from under us. Completely unethical. Apparently they have a habit of doing this to people even with signed contracts. Stay away from Camelback Toyota!!
    • It’s disappointing to hear that this happened, especially after you had agreed on a price and set an appointment. This situation does not reflect the level of service we strive to provide. Please reach out to Katrina Coscarelli, our Client Relations Director, at kcoscarelli@camelbacktoyota.com. She will ensure your concerns are addressed and assist you further.

  • Omg the best

5 out of 5 starsby Ellee on 08/03/2024

I am so glad that I went to Camelback Toyota. My salesman Doug Parker was phenomenal and was so helpful. Very knowledgeable about everything. I know absolutely nothing about cars and he was so informative and very professional. I feel like his insights about what I wanted helped me choose exactly what I wanted. I had dealt with a few dealers in the area who were not helpful at all. But, I highly recommend Camelback Toyota and I will definitely be returning when I am in the market again. Thank you, Doug. And thanks to Sean in finance!

  • Dishonest Practices and Broken Promises

1 out of 5 starsby Sarahubc on 04/28/2024

Review of Camelback Toyota: Dishonest Practices and Broken Promises. YOUR FAMILY DESERVES BETTER. As a mom of three kids, I need a reliable car—especially in the summer when the Arizona heat can be brutal. With our current vehicle reaching the end of its life, we contacted Camelback Toyota. They have a "no-deposit" policy, so you have to stay in touch to be "first in line" for a car. We were in contact with our dealer for two months, and she kept reassuring us that we'd get notified as soon as the car we wanted arrived. Well, it turns out that the friendly salespeople aren't the ones calling the shots. It's the managers, and they don't seem to care about keeping promises or being fair. Here's what happened to us: After two months of waiting and negotiating, we thought we had everything sorted out. But then, out of nowhere, I found out that a car intended for another family was sold without contacting them. To fix their problem, the manager gave them our car—the one we had been waiting for and thought was ours. And they did it without even checking with our dealer first. I was so upset. Summer's coming, and we needed that car. Now we're back to square one, scrambling to find another one, while the dealership just shrugs it off like it's no big deal. It may be a small error for them, but it's a huge problem for families like mine. If you're thinking about buying from Big Two Toyota, be careful. The salespeople might seem friendly, but the managers are the ones who make the real decisions, and they don't care who gets hurt in the process. They broke their promise to us, and now we're left without a car, thanks to their dishonest practices. I don't want anyone else to go through what we did. Find a dealership that values honesty and actually keeps its promises. Trust me, you don't want to deal with the stress and disappointment we went through at Camelback Toyota. Your family deserves better.
  • Miguel Finance

    1 out of 5 starsby Ann L on 01/12/2024

Everything was great, then we got to finance guy, Miguel, who was so shady. They offered me a 12% APR for the car which I declined because I got an approval from my credit union for around 7.5% APR. He said he will work with my credit union and I was allowed to take the car home. Weeks have passed with no updates, then all of a sudden I saw my credit being pulled again multiple times without my permission. I texted him and he said he will reach to my credit union. A few days later, I got an email with Capital One and my loan is with them with 12% APR!!!! He never updated me that my loan with go through Capital One with the same APR that I declined in the first place. I texted him about it and I said what happened to my credit union. He said he forgot to text me that it never went through with my credit union. I have an 800 credit score. I replied saying you got me the same APR that I originally did not want? He never responded and I went thru another credit union again with 7% APR. Never been treated like that from any other dealerships.
  • Very disappointed

1 out of 5 starsby Very disappointed on 12/01/2023

A repeat customer at Camelback, my experience buying a new 2023 4Runner on Oct 30, 2023, was disappointing. I felt very little customer service or attention to detail and definitely did not feel like a valued, repeat customer. I no longer trust Camelback Toyota. Whether true or not, my perception was that I had to be on my guard to keep from getting scammed. I experienced numerous communication problems before and after the sale. I paid with personal check and learned later that this would create much more time, paperwork, confusion and delay. We had no intention of buying any warranty products – but felt forced to go thru the presentation in order to complete the sales transaction with a Finance Manager. It was a pain and we felt like we had to be on our guard not to be tricked into something. The registration and title process explanation was confusing and we discovered later that he had checked the wrong box on the registration application saying that we did not want credit for the unused time on our old registration. Had to call MVD and take care of it myself later. When preparing the transaction detail, it was very confusing. This may have all been legit but it felt deceitful, like slight-of-hand stuff. Like he was trying to pull something to sell a warranty product. Felt slimy! After getting home I opened an envelope given to us with our credit check results and found a mysterious charge receipt for $5,000? I didn’t recognize the account number but this was very concerning to me and I wondered if I’d been scammed somehow? I texted the manager the next morning but didn’t hear back until late afternoon the next day. He apologized for handing us the wrong receipt and that he would forward the correct receipt. Not received until 5 days later. I was aware of the Zaktek paint protection being part of the deal and it was mentioned after my purchase offer was accepted. Then I learned that I would have to return to Camelback Toyota every 6-months to get a new application – for 3 years? I live in Tucson and do not want to drive up for that every 6-months. That would be considerable time and mileage. After thinking about it, this felt like simply a ploy to get people to use Camelback service every 6 months. Feels like a way to make you think you’re getting an extra $500 perk. I read that you can do a similar treatment yourself for pennies on the dollar. I was promised a full tank of gas which we didn't get. I noticed as we were leaving town that it was only 1/2 full. Again, did not make me feel like a valued customer. Mistake, or Camelback hoping we wouldn’t notice? When back at home I found the “2023 Vehicle Delivery Checklist” in the glove box. I’m wondering why this wasn’t mentioned and completed at the dealer before we left? We stopped nowhere on the way home. Upon arriving I found a noticeable abrasion of some kind on the hood (approx. 3 inches). After complaining about it, Camelback never got back to me about correcting the problem. Turned out to be some kind of glue and scratches. Took care of it at a local shop on my own. I’ve was very disappointed that it took 29 hours to get a response to my first email questions - a couple not until 5 days later and I was stressed about that mystery receipt for $5,000, wondering what was going on? It took 6 days to receive my paperwork and detailed receipt showing everything included with the purchase? I had to ask twice. My purchase check cleared the bank the day after the purchase (Oct 31). Camelback refunded the Zaktek and gas, but I was hoping they would offer some additional compensation for the hassles and screwups. After my initial complaint I got an email from the “Customer Relations Manager”, then two unanswered. We played phone tag for a bit then she stopped responding. She had told me earlier that, “I will do my best to make myself available to speak with you.” Guess that means never? Still haven’t heard back and now almost a month of jacking around with them. Planning to buy a Corolla in a few months, but it will not be at Camelback.
  • DISHONEST! DISHONEST! DISHONEST!

1 out of 5 starsby RN on 09/14/2021

DISHONEST! DISHONEST! DISHONEST! This is the most DISHONEST, DISHONEST, DISHONEST -AND- UNETHICAL dealership I have ever dealt with! I worked with their Internet department over a week's time. Friday, 9/10, Shaun (Mgr) called me and told me that the truck I wanted would be in between Sept 13th and the 15th and that the truck was mine since we'd agreed on a price (of course, if someone came in before me and bought it, that could happen) and that he wrote notes in the book that the truck was mine and what the price is that we'd agreed on. Jesse (Mgr) called me on 9/13 and told me that the truck hadn't come in but should be in tomorrow. He told me that no one else was interested in this truck as far as he knew so it was mine. At 8:15 am this morning (9/14), I got a text from the salesman saying that the truck was in. I questioned him on that because Jesse (Mgr) called me yesterday and told me that it had not come in. I asked him to double-check because of the conversation I had with Jesse the afternoon before. At 8:20, the salesman texted me back saying it was for sure on the lot and to hurry in and get it. I was at the dealership at 10:33 am because I was told once they called me I needed to be in within 2 hours or so or they would give it away (I told the salesman that I would leave at 9:30). When I arrived, I was told by the salesman that the truck was NOT on the lot (but expected in a few hours). In the meantime, the MANAGER & I EACH ACCEPTED THE PRICE *and* I completed all of the paperwork. I even wrote a check (which the salesman said to hang on to)...I'd even called the credit union and had them transfer the money into the checking account since we were paying CASH for the truck. During this time I was waiting at the dealership, the salesman kept checking on me....told me to go to lunch and they'd reimburse (which they didn't). I was at the dealership from 10:33 to 2:00pm. At 1:45pm the salesman came up with a manager and told me that someone else just showed up and were offering more than we were so unless I upped my price, I'd lose out. DISHONEST, DISHONEST, DISHONEST! UNETHICAL! This vehicle was MINE! I was there first, I had made a deal that was ACCEPTED by MANAGEMENT, and now it was becoming a silent auction! The excuse was, "well with low inventory, this is how it is...." and "different departments were working on it".... that is COMPLETE B.S.! That's THEIR problem, not mine. I was there first, I had been waiting for the truck to come in, AND the deal had been sealed & approved by not only me but by management! This is completely UNACCEPTABLE!! DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER GO TO CAMELBACK TOYOTA. RUN, DRIVE, SPEED, PAST AND GO TO ANY OTHER DEALER! (Upon reading reviews on Google Reviews, they pulled this same crap with other people on 9/8 & 9/12....so it's nothing new to them to be DISHONEST & UNETHICAL). If Camelback responds and asks me to call Customer Service, I will not be doing that. With all of the information I have provided, they can figure out who I am and they can call me and make this right!
  • Would Not Recommend This Dealership to My Worst Enemy!

1 out of 5 starsby LakesideAssociates on 06/01/2021

I bought a car from this dealership a couple of weeks ago. It is really far from where I live, but they had the exact car I wanted. It was the worst car-buying experience I ever had. First of all, I had wanted to buy the car on-line, but the salesman convinced me to come in and promised it would only take about 2 hours. It took almost six hours. One feature that I wanted (blind spot monitors) wasn't installed on the car, so they promised to schedule the installation quickly (like, a couple days) after the sale - what a joke! When I left the dealership, I still didn't have the ownership papers because I was writing them a check for the balance the next day. So, the salesman shows up the next day with my car, and I give him the check for the balance. But he didn't bring any paperwork for the sale (said he thought I already had it). They e-mailed the paperwork to me the next day -- everybody had an excuse why I didn't get the paperwork like I should have. Next, the very first time I drove the car, I noticed that one of the turn signals is clicking much faster than the other. I check that the turn signal lights are working in the rear - and they are. Since I have to bring the car in for the installation of the blind spot monitors, I figure I'll ask then about the fast clicking then. It took 3 weeks for them to schedule my service upgrade. I called the salesman several times, and he blamed it on their having a new service manager. Finally, when I brought the car back for the appointment and they examined it, they said THAT THE LIGHT AND FENDER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED, causing the right turn signal to go faster. I am 100 % certain that this damage happened before I received the car since I noticed the turn signal problem the first time I drove it at home, but what could I do? They said the repair was up to me. This purchase was DEFINITELY NOT WORTH ALL THE PROBLEMS.
    • Christine, thank you for your detailed feedback. Customer service and transparency are extremely important to us. I personally spoke with you, and the Service Manager when you returned to discuss your issue a month after taking ownership of the vehicle. We apologized for your experience and explained that it was not something that could be repaired under warranty due to damage being caused by an outside influence. Our advice of contacting your insurance still stands. We take pride in our customer service and have always put the interest of our customers ahead of our own when possible. We empathize with your situation and hope that you are able to find resolution for your needs.

  • Service after the sale is terrible

1 out of 5 starsby Eric on 01/21/2021

The sales experience was very pleasant and everyone I interacted with was kind and professional. Service after the sale, accessory sales and scheduling specifically, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Lack of follow up, lack of call backs, lack of accurate information, etc... I really hope any interaction I have with the actual service department is better. So, nice place to get a new or used Toyota, but if you want accessories (OEM or aftermarket) for your vehicle I would recommend going elsewhere. UPDATE!! (1/20/21) I was asked to contact someone at Camelback Toyota in regards to my review the morning of 1/15/21. I sent them the requested e-mail on 1/15/21 at 10:45ish AM; I have yet to receive a reply. This just reiterates my experience of a real lack of service after the sale and a lack of follow-up when requested; even when they are the ones requesting the reply. I would also like to include one more, what I would consider, failure on the part of the dealership. My used 2019 vehicle has a 380 day old recall that is listed as "Extreme Risk - Collision" which they could have taken care of. They had time to detail and add an external paint protectant before offering the vehicle for sale so they had time to take care of the recall. Instead of ensuring that the vehicle was safe, they just made it look pretty then kicked it out into the sales floor. I am very upset at this. So, YMMV, but my after the sales experience with this dealership has been terrible and I would highly recommend going elsewhere for a new or used vehicle.
    • Thank you for taking the time to speak with us yesterday and we apologize for the frustration you have experienced. We're happy that we were able to provide clarification regarding your recall concern. If you have any follow up needs please feel free to call Katrina Coscarelli at (602) 264-2841 Thank you.

      by Camelback Toyota on 01/22/2021

    • Update: I was able to get in touch with Katrina C. who was able to resolve my outstanding issues. Also, the recall information I was given was incorrect; Katrina C. was also able to resolve this issue for me.
