  • Incredible Buying Experience

This review details my experience with purchasing a 2012 Honda Pilot Ex-L from Honda of Superstition Springs. I found the vehicle I was interested in via their web site. I had done some research and knew what I wanted to pay for the vehicle. I inquired about the Pilot through their web site and received a prompt reply. The price quoted in the return email met my expectations, so I sent another email asking them to provide me with an out-the-door price detailing the purchase price, fees, taxes, etc. They did and so I told them I would be in that evening to purchase the vehicle. When I arrived, my wife and I were greeted warmly, shown the vehicle we intended to purchase and then walked through the process of buying the SUV. Everyone we dealt with was professional, courteous, helpful, and most importantly, honest. There were no surprises. All of the figures we had agreed upon earlier in the day via email were the same when we arrived to make the purchase -- no bait and switch games. My sales reps (Mike and Paul) were spectacular (Mike for his work in making sure all of the details of our email conversation were met and Paul for his helpful, laid-back manner and excellent knowledge of the vehicle and its features/options). Paul gave us a great orientation to our new Pilot. Our finance rep was also very professional and made the tedious work of signing all of the documents actually enjoyable. He didn't push unwanted warranties or dealer-offered programs. He simply asked if we were interested and when we declined, he moved on. Thank you to everyone at Honda of Superstition Springs who made our experience purchasing our first Pilot one of the best car buying experiences of our lives. I will be sure to recommend Honda of Superstition Springs to anyone I know who's interested in purchasing a new vehicle -- and I'll be sure to see you next time my wife and I are in need of a new Honda.

We recently purchased our 5th vehicle from Superstition Honda. We have been customer for about six years. Their sales personnel Brad A and GM Cameron are excellent to work with and make car buying actually a pleasurable experience. In a few years we will be looking to trade in and upgrade and plan to return to this dealership. …JGH

We got our price from Edmunds.com and I called to ask if there were any addition's to the price. I was told by Manuel the fleet manager for Edmunds that all prices are plus Desert protection which consists of paint sealant, wheel locks, mud guards, cargo tray for the real cargo area, and window tint on the from windows only. The CRV comes with privacy glass! Total price is 845.00, non negotiable. I told Manuel thanks, but I am not interested in paying for these items and I will look elsewhere. It turns out that my wife drove a CRV there a few days earlier and the phone did not stop ringing. Finally I was told if I came in they would waive the cost of the Desert protection package and all I had to pay was tax, doc fee of 399 and reg. I went down and drove the vehicle, showed them my trade and the haggling began. I was presented full sticker. I told them them I am only paying the price I agreed to on the phone. They kept going back and fourth. Finally they said I had to pay 199.99 for window etching? I asked, what is it and why do I need to pay for this. I was told this is a mandatory fee on the contract and everyone pays for it. I asked, what is it? They told me they would explain in the finance. I was then told that they would give me a 500 incentive if I financed the vehicle through Honda finance. I agreed to the price I received over the phone plus the 199.99 window eching since they gave me the 500,00 finance incentive, I was told I could payoff the car when the first payment is due. Then everyone disappeared. I waited 2.5 hours to sign the contact. I kept asking, where is my salesman, how much longer? He would keep saying, "you are next in line" then he would disappear. I even asked, are you going to explain anything about the car to me? He finally brought out the owners manual and explained the state lemon law and that when I drove off in the car, "I owned it" Finally we went into finance. Signed a bunch of paperwork. When we got to the final contact, the price was wrong. I had to get the price switched back to the price I agreed. Was told several times that they are losing money. I told them, then don't sell me the car. I am only paying what you agreed to sell me the car for. Then to my surprise I was asked to sign a document stating that I did not want to purchase a service contract. I asked, you never offered to sell me one. The finance person told me that the salesman told him I was not interested. I told the finance person "then I guess I am not interested!" I bought the warranty at another Honda dealer a few days later. When we got to the delivery of the new vehicle, we were asked "Do you have any questions, if not see ya!" We did have a few questions, but after that experience, we want to just get out of there. We have not purchased a new vehicle in over 7 years and were not up to date on the latest technology. I was thank full that they gave me the owners manual so we could figure out how to work everything in the car. I did find out what the window etching was for 199.00. If my car is stolen and not recovered within the first 3 years, I get a check for 2500.00. This item is not needed, nor wanted. If it is such a great deal, why make the consumer purchase it? I may have purchased some of the items they were selling in the business office if they would have just taken the time to explain things. It appears that wants you say yes to purchasing the car, they really do not want to talk to you again until you are ready to purchase another car. It is the first time I have purchased a new car and had the dealership make me feel like garbage when I left. Since they have not called in over 2 weeks to ask or thank me for my business, I am sure I will not be getting a survey from Honda. All they care about is the sale.

  • Returned to buy a 2nd car

Just bought our 2nd car here from Ashley Frazee and Rob Beard. Returned here because of honest dealings, respectful treatment, and low price a year ago. They didn't force us to buy dealer installed options or unwanted warranties and services. We did our research on the net, to include color in their inventory. I called Rob Beard the Gen Sales Mgr to tell him we were coming back to look and hopefully buy. He emailed me the out-the-door price, which was better than the other dealers. So we came, selected our color, test drove, and bought! Here's my tip - call and ask for Ashley. If she's not available leave a message for Rob Beard the General Sales Mgr, let him assign you a sales person before you get there.

Honda of Superstition Springs is by far the best dealership I have ever walked into. They are all so personable and helpful. I have nothing negative to say about this dealership. They roll out the red carpet for all customers, looking, or buying from the moment I walked in I knew they would be able to help me. Blane was the salesman that helped me, I walked out with a Honda Insight! The sales manger is also very helpful. I cant say enough about this dealership, if you are looking to buy a Honda make the drive to Honda of Superstition Springs, believe me you wont regret it.

I needed to trade in a vehicle with -$3000 equity to get smaller monthly payments. The guys down at Honda made this a very pleasant and easy reality for me. Thank you for not making stress about the whole car buying experience on top of the decision to trade in the car that I had that was very fun. :)
  • Two Thumbs Up - David Cohen Internet Manager @ Honda of Superstition Spring

Like most folks, I was reluctant to go through another car buying experience... until I had the pleasure of working with David Cohen (Internet Manager at Honda of Superstition Springs). David was knowledgable, straight forward, and extremely respectful of my busy schedule. David got me into a great card at an affordable price. I would highly recommend letting David handle all of your vehicle needs. A great experience with a true gentleman.

From the moment I walked into the dealership until now I have been so impressed with your staff. John the sales manager was so sweet. He came over introduced himself and told me a little about his background. He phoned and text me to let me know the progress of the financing. Butch was my salesman and he kept me informed by phone and email. Once I came back into the dealership Butch never left my side. He sat with me and chatted until Keith the finance director was ready for me. I really enjoyed the conversation and it was nice to have someone with me. Keith was absolutely a delight to work with. He went out of his way to make sure the gap was put into the deal. I truly appreciated that extra effort. Keith and Butch walked me out to my new car and said “Enjoy”. The service however did not stop there. John, text me and said “Sorry, I missed you leaving. Enjoy your car.” Also, butch has followed up with me via email. We have chatted about a few things about the car and he highly suggested the extended warranty. I am so glad he did. I am coming in today and meeting with Keith to sign that paperwork. I have already raved about the experience to all of my friends. It is so nice to experience such a high level of service. I really appreciated the fact that not only did your staff make me feel special but I felt like I was the only person in the dealership even though there was a lot of people buzzing around.

After having a horrible experience with Bell Honda which I would never recommend them to my worst enemy. Honda of Superstition springs was a breath of fresh air. Our salesmen Kenny G was amazing. He answered all our questions truthfully. He also was very friendly and helpful. He listened to what we wanted and didn't try to sell us a different car. Overall this was the best car buying experience we have had. We highly recommend!
  • DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!!

Do NOT buy a car from here - go to another Honda dealer first if at all possible. We went to this dealer on Saturday, March 29, 2014 and when we first got there everything was great - the sales people were nice and we didn't feel pressured to buy a car. Efran was assigned to us as our sales person and he took the time to show us all the cars and answered all of our questions. We walked back inside and passed a Honda Civic EX-L... exactly what we wanted. It had the leather, the navigation... the works! It was beautiful! Efran moved it out so that we could test drive it. The ONLY thing we didn't like about this particular car was it's color - it was Kona Coffee color. The inventory manager came out and asked us what color we did want and we wanted black with black interior, just like the one we were in only black. We went on a test drive and when we came back they told us they found the one we wanted in Peoria, AZ from Arrowhead Honda. They could get it into us by Tuesday. We went inside and agreed on a deal... we went into the finance guy and signed the paperwork for the car that we were going to get... or at least that is what we thought. They said that was the paperwork for the ACTUAL car we were getting and we needed to fill it out now so that they could get the transfer of ownership started and when it came in all we had to do was come in and get the keys. On Monday morning we received a call that our car at Arrowhead Honda was broken into and that there was no other one available except for different color options, which we did not want. So, we were told we had to wait for another one to be specially made. A month went by and we were getting very frustrated - no one called to give us updates. My husband had to call or go there to get any kind of answers. We searched online to see if there was one available at another dealer out of curiosity and we found TWO at Arrowhead Honda. My husband called up there and they said that since that model is so rare that they do not share them. Huh?! But they were before, why not now? My husband called SS Honda and they said they couldn't do anything. Our next step was to call Honda Corporate - they said they would look into it and get back to us in a few days. While my husband was on the phone with them he had the paperwork and realized that we signed for the Kona Coffee color one!! They gave us phony paperwork... which made us realize there was NEVER another car at Arrowhead Honda. Long story short... sort of... Honda didn't do anything for us nor did SS Honda. When we went to sign for the new car the finance guy told us that it is common practice to just have "placeholder" paperwork until they get the actual car. Why on earth would they do that?! What a waste of time! Even while we were doing the paperwork for the wrong car we were told it was for the car we were getting. The whole thing just didn't make sense. If it's just to hold whatever it was that we were holding, why not just tell us the truth? I mean, when we signed it the finance guy was so concerned that everything was right including the mileage on the car that was coming from Arrowhead, if it wasn't the right car to begin with what does it matter? Just tell us we need to sign something for the trade in, interest rate... etc., don't lie and tell us everything is done when we will have to do it all over again. This place will do anything to sell you a car... whether they have it or not. They take your trade in so you can't do anything about it later and you're stuck. We do have a beautiful car now but we had to go through absolute chaos to get it. We were lied to and betrayed... we will do everything to stop business from going to this dealer. We waited over a month and finally got it on May 4 - and all the paperwork we signed said May 1, so when did they really get it?!? Please do not go here, you'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches.
    • To Whom It May Concern, Honda of Superstition Springs has had the opportunity to review this matter. We apologize for this client’s experience with the dealership. Based on this letter, it appears that our biggest failure was to communicate effectively with this customer. In this case it appears that we put the vehicle procurement process and our own paperwork process in front of the client’s needs. For that we deeply apologize. There is logical methodology and very sound business practice behind the events that surrounded the entire transaction. While this is true, our guest’s perception of Honda of Superstition Springs is really the only thing that matters. There were several operational pieces that worked together on this transaction. The Sales Person, Sales Manager, Inventory Manager, Finance Manager, Business Office and even the Service/Parts and another dealership all contributed to the perception that something was done to deceive this customer. Typically these departments and dealerships work together very well. And yes, we can say from an executive level that the Phoenix Valley Honda dealerships all trade inventory (even the ones that are deemed as rare). While there were some unusual events surrounding this particular transaction; we feel that had we had updated the client more frequently we would have a customer who is pleased not only with the vehicle but with our dealership as well. Honda of Superstition Springs believes in the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen (continuous improvement). For this reason we will attempt to make this guest a believer in our dealership in three ways. First the executive manager and the general manager would like to sit down with this guest and apologize. Next we would like to explain all the steps in this particular transaction. Our end goal would be for this guest to change their views about the dealership once they hear the entire story from us. We do realize that our guest’s time is valuable and we will be mindful of it. Finally we would ask for permission to use this as an example at one of our dealership training sessions. We believe Honda of Superstition Springs can both learn from this as well as change this customer’s perception. Finally we would like to offer this client a token for giving us the opportunity to speak to them. Respectfully Submitted, Honda of Superstition Springs
