Overview
The Chevrolet Colorado is one of the best midsize trucks you can buy following its significant redesign in 2023. The Colorado offers some of the best towing capacity and payload numbers in its class, and its easy-to-use tech features, along with its smooth ride, make it a great daily driver in addition to its impressive capability. Its current wide array of trim levels and options also makes it a compelling pick, and we don't expect major changes to the 2026 Colorado.
Edmunds spotlight: Plenty of towing capability
The Colorado, when properly equipped, can tow up to 7,700 pounds. Sure, that doesn't touch the astronomical numbers you can get from a full-size truck like the Ford F-150, but it's more than enough power for most shoppers. If you're looking to tow occasionally and don't want to deal with the size and lackluster fuel economy of a full-size pickup, the Colorado is worth a look.
Competitors to consider
The midsize truck category has never been more competitive. The Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma have both been recently redesigned, and the car-like Honda Ridgeline is a compelling option if you're looking for the utility of a pickup bed more than eye-popping towing numbers. The same goes for the Ford Maverick; smaller and with lower limits than the Ridgeline, it'll also save you money thanks to an appealing price tag and hybrid powertrain. Conversely, if you need more space or more capability, you can size up to the Ford F-150 or Ram 1500.
