  • BAD ATTITUDE & WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

    1 out of 5 starsby NRUPEN88 on 10/08/2022

I had a very bad experience woking with this dealership. Most unprofessional & unethical bunch. I put a deposit on a car that was still in transit. They sent me an order sheet, and I approved of a. 2k USD premium on a Subaru WRX GT. The car was supposed to arrive on Oct 10, and I had to make a business trip to California. The car arrived on Oct 3, and they said they were OK to send paperwork to cali in the meantime to get the transaction completed as the car arrived earlier than anticipated. They aded a $1584 PPP ( paint protection) package to the final price without my consent, which is a total junk package btw. I resisted, and they disgruntingly agreed to remove the package. After this they took a U-turn, and told me that they dont want to sell the car & hung up on my face. name of the sales manager is Adam Smith. I was flabbergasted as they had me fill up the credit application too by that point. I called the general manger of sales Mr. Charlie Rodriguez who promised me that he would resolve this for me if I am able to walk into the dealership as per the original agreed timeline, but never called back or picked up my call again. Total disaster of a customer service.

  • Subaru Ascent Order/Purchase from Gillman Subaru, San Antonio, TX

    5 out of 5 starsby Leo's Dad on 10/01/2018

Overall everything went very smoothly. We test drove an Ascent on the 4th of July because they were the only dealer open on the holiday. We came back on the 9th of July because we were interested in a Ascent Touring model and they didn't have one available the day we test drove. We checked it out and placed our order that day for delivery the end of September. The car arrived on 6 Sep, earlier than we expected and was ready to go when we got to the dealership. The paperwork was smooth and efficient and we've been enjoying the car for the last month with no issues whatsoever. This is our third Subaru since 2010 and we're very pleased with the car as well as the dealer.

  • Great Experience with Greg

I was looking to buy a 2014 Forester (my third Forester) and knew exactly what I wanted, so I shopped online exclusively. Of the five dealerships I contacted, Greg was the only one who offered me an out-the-door total price by email. When I told him his sales price was higher than other dealers, he made me a second offer and promised he could provide the vehicle in the color I wanted. We drove down to San Antonio and signed the papers. We then were sent to see the F&I guy, Lloyd, who wasn't as easy to work with as Greg. The extended warranty he sold us wasn't with Subaru and it was overpriced from a company with a C rating from BBB. We returned it immediately after reading the fine print at home. He did get us a good deal on financing, 1.59%. The car had to be transferred from one of their other locations. Greg delivered it to us personally, and got it here several days earlier than he'd originally said. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd send anyone I know to Greg.
    • Interesting! They were the only local Subaru dealer that did NOT give an internet price via e-mail. They just wanted to play games, get me into the dealership, etc.

  • Pushy and arrogant

What a horrible, frustrating, awful experience! I would never buy from this place. Our sales consultant Brian was not necessarily the worst but he didn't do much in the way of explaining the features of the Forester we were interested in. I think it was because he just isn't all that knowledgeable about them. We told him we would like to see what kind of a deal we could work out and he took us inside. He had an assessment done on my current vehicle and the trade-in value he came back with was $1500 less than I had been getting at other dealerships. He made it seem that no one was going to be interested in my vehicle and that it was more of a loss to them than anything. Slightly insulting. The estimates for the vehicle I wanted to purchase came to about $475 a month for 60 months on a forester with a msrp of $27200. $475 X60 = $28500. If you add in the $5000 trade in value, I would be paying all together $33500 for a $27200 msrp vehicle. I told him that with our great credit we shouldn't have a payment more that $400 and those numbers he had calculated were way off from where we needed to be. He went off to work it out with his "manager" and that's when things got ugly. I consider myself a fairly nice, polite person and I have also worked in sales for many years. I was absolutely appealed by the "selling" techniques of this so called "manager" LLoyd. He began by telling us there was no possible way to get it down to $400 and that "most of our customers are generally more affluent. If you cant pay more than $400 a month than you shouldn't even be looking to buy a new car." He asked several times what it would take for us to buy one that day and my husband made it very clear that we would not be purchasing the vehicle that day. He said then it would be a waste of his time to even try to get us a lower number. After a few more insults he left us to think about it. He came back less than 3 minutes later and said that he was able to squeeze a one time only deal in for $400/60mnths but only if we bought it right then and there. We got up and walked out. Lloyd is the worst, most arrogant, full of himself sales associate I have ever met and would never do business with him. Side note, he introduced himself as a manager but his business card says sales/ leasing consultant. They are running a real shady business and I would recommend anyone considering to purchase from there to really do your homework and not get pressured into anything by these yahoo's.
