  • Unethical Business Practices

    I want to express my sincere gratitude to Burleson Honda (Yes, Burleson Honda) for their exceptional service. They not only correctly diagnosed and repaired my vehicle but also did so in a professional and courteous manner. Their detailed explanation of the necessary repairs was something Vandergriff repeatedly failed to do. Burleson Honda's competitive pricing was also far better than Vandergriff Honda's. I had a horrendous experience with Vandergriff Honda. They had my vehicle for over a month and couldn't correctly diagnose the issue. I also found their business practices unethical, as they manipulated documents to cover up their incompetence and rigged evidence for repairs. Vandergriff Honda employees provided conflicting statements at different times. The service advisor, Bryce Ramay, didn't take the initiative to call us for updates. We had to call him, but he was on vacation and "didn't have his notes" to help us. The service director, Ricardo Sandoval, seemed clueless about what was happening in the Service Department and contradicted Bryce Ramay. Ricardo Sandoval also stated that the "Honda Review and Approve" document is optional to provide to customers. The Fixed Operations Director, Drew Burk, lacked customer service skills. After filing complaints, Drew Burk called us and said, "You are no longer financially obligated with us. We refunded your money; go somewhere else." Also, Drew Burk only called us because he was singled out in an email to American Honda. Shaunee Snow, from the customer relations team, clearly lacks training and is not qualified to deal with customers. She failed to perform due diligence on the situation before contacting the customer. Her interaction added no value to the conversation or situation. I am a disabled veteran who served for over 20 years. I have never encountered an organization that demonstrates incompetence at every level. I find it hard to believe this dreadful experience with Vandergriff Honda. There must be a reason for the subpar behavior and performance of the Vandergriff Honda employees. After sending numerous emails and leaving voicemails, I finally spoke with the Managing Partner, Chris Snyder. During our first phone call, the call "dropped" seven times, only while we were talking, never while he was speaking. Chris Snyder admitted that his team had made mistakes and "fumbled the ball numerous times." He had the vehicle towed back to the dealership, promising to "make it right." However, he took no action to rectify the situation; instead, he contradicted his statements from our initial conversation. The culture of an organization starts from the top down. Dealing with Chris Snyder reinforced and clarified Vandergriff Honda employees' inadequate performance, unsatisfactory behavior, and unethical business practices. American Honda was of no help in this situation. They could not explain why our vehicle was not included in a recall. We've had six Hondas and always loyal to the Honda brand. Due to the numerous moves during my service, we have dealt with many Honda dealerships nationwide. Vandergriff Honda is by far the worst. This experience has considerably eroded our confidence in Honda. We are trading our Honda vehicle for a Toyota and will never purchase a Honda again. However, for those who do, I recommend going to Burleson Honda.

    If I could rate the service I received at Vandergriff Honda any lower than one star I would. I decided to give myself a few days to see if it was even worth posting, but I still am just as upset and confused as I was on Monday. I took my car in for service on Saturday at 10 am on 11/9/19, and Berlin was my service advisor. I needed to get an oil change and there were two recalls on my vehicle, one for the rear windshield paint and one for something with the battery connection/terminals. I figured the paint repair would take a while so I figured they might end up keeping my car to complete the repairs, and they did end up keeping my car. Monday morning arrived and I still had not received a call yet so I called Honda asked to speak to my service advisor. She was not available but she did tell the call taker that my car was ready for pickup. I arrived at Vandergriff Honda and Berlin advised me that the repairs had been made and she thinks that they were finished with my car just after they closed on Saturday. Still at this time I’m thinking my car was serviced and had two recalls repaired, so I was taken aback that my car was finished on Saturday and I was not informed until I CALLED on Monday morning. But all was fixed on my car(I thought), so I paid and waited for my car to pull up. When my car arrived I noticed it was just as dusty, and unvacuumed as it was when I dropped it off. I’d NEVER taken my car to a dealership and not had it washed and vacuumed, but that just was confirmation to me to never return to Vandergriff plus I needed to leave for work. I go to my job and had the thought to at least check on my “repaired” paint job. The Paint around the rear windshield looked just as chipped and peeling before. I jumped in my car headed back to Vandergriff asked to speak to a manager, and was assisted by Al. I expressed my outrage over how my car was kept all weekend for just an oil change and not any of the recall repairs I thought I was receiving, and how I was given back a dirty car. He was apologetic and had my car washed and vacuumed and wanted to have my paint repaired that day, but I had already given too much of my time & energy to Vandergriff, so I declined. At the end of the day I feel like I was simply forgotten about by an UNAPOLOGETIC service advisor and spent the weekend without a car that I am STILL paying on. This was the poorest service I have ever been given in my life by a dealership and I would not return to this location if they paid me.

    I have been coming to Vandergriff Honda for service on my Honda Civic Hybrid for several years now, and Mike Symank has always taken very good care of me explain in detail and easy to understand of what needs to be done. I have been to other places in the past to get work done on vehicles and I will truly say I keep coming back because of my service advisor.

    Always excellent service at Vandergriff Honda. This time, Mike Symank helped me and he did a great job. Even though I no longer live in Arlington, I still go to Vandergriff to get my car serviced.

    I went to this dealership to take care of a recall for my vehicle. My service provider, David Yost, was quick to greet me and provide assistance. He listened attentively and gave me and ETA of when the repairs would be completed. The waiting area was well kept and comfortable and the other staff members were cordial. I would definitely come back for more service.

    I come to Vandergriff Honda for all of my service needs. Mike Symank is my service advisor and he is the best. He has a heart and doesn't try to get over on you as some service advisors do. Please treat him right because he is the best you all have.

  • Making it up for a minor mistake.

    Recently one of the employees there made a minor mistake that caused my vehicle to be towed but eventually the people in charge took full responsibility for the mistake .

    I'd only use the showroom to test drive cars, but I've had good times with their service department. I guess since they rip customers on the car buying process, they can afford to have a good service department? I've had my oil changed on my Odyssey there and I could tell the guy behind the counter enjoyed his job. I was in and out under an hour and I got to use their internet service. I sucessfully negotiated to get the Cat replaced even though the car was over 7 years old (but under 100K miles). I regotiated with the Honda corporate customer care, and Vandergriff helped me. They have always done competent work for me.

    My own service adviser is Chris Gonzalez, so this review applies primarily to him. However, in the past, I have had different advisers (different cars, same shop) and all have been excellent. Keeping a car well maintained is almost as stressful a process for us of the 'the-car-is-necessary-but-not-fun' people. Chris makes the service process minimally stressful. You really can't do better.

    The service was great the repair tike was quick. John keene took great care of me in the service dept. The only thing I wish the express service had was coffee back there. But they gave me a free token for coffee in the main building it was just so hot out I didn't wanna walk up there

    I have been using Vandergriff Honda for the service on my 2004 Honda Odyssey since we moved to the area five years ago. Since my first visitin, I have never had a bad experience with this dealership. They strive to make your experience with them a positive experience. I normally work with Chris G. in the Service Department but he was off the day I was in, so his associate Mike S. assisted me during my visit. Mike was absolutely super! He explained everything in detail as to the service work being performed, and answered all my questions thoroughly. He was very sincere, courteous, and professional in his approach, which is something that you rarely find in most customer service fields these days, let alone an automobile dealership. The whole team at Vandergriff Honda treats their customers as family. When I am ready to trade my Honda in, there is no question where I will bring my business. People like to do business with companies that they feel comfortable dealing with, and I for one would not hesitate to recommend Vandergriff Honda for sales or service. They are simply the best!

    Service Advisor Mike Symank was great! Brought in my Odyssey for warranty work and was in and out in one day. Make an appointment and they send you reminders via email and again when it is ready to pick up so you are not standing around.

    Everything was perfect the prices, the courtesy of the employees, and the thought of and effort that they put in to make me feel like, they are not going to ever give up on me because they will keep offering me cars that interest me and not only that but the price and gas milliage! The best company ever to me. Thank You for everything Honda

    I bought my 2012 Nissan Xterra from Vandergriff in January 2013. I took my vehicle in for free 1 year maintenance on 10/9/13. I asked for an oil change, tire rotation, and brake check due to high pitch squeal when braking. Mike S. was my service advisor and he was excellent!!! He said it would be about an hour and it was. When it came time for me to retrieve my vehicle, Mike told me my free maintenance covered 1 year or 16,554 miles and that I had 17,717 miles on my vehicle. At first I thought, great I am going to have to pay a fortune, and then wondered why he did not tell me before servicing the vehicle? Mike then told me not to worry that Vandergriff was going to cover the costs and thanked me for my business. I was so thrilled with my service as well as my advisor who also referred me to a Nissan dealer to get my brakes checked since the vehicle is under manufacturer warranty. I would definitely suggest this dealership for buying and servicing a vehicle. Thanks to Mike and Vandergriff. Keep up the great customer service.

    Drove in late on a Thursday with head light issues. I was greeted by Mike S. who was very nice in informing what I had overlooked. I had been trying to change the wrong bulb with the wrong bulb? He was able to determine quickly that the socket connections were slightly loose from possible road vibration. After he secured all the connectors...turns out all my lights were working and I didn't need any bulbs replaced just yet. He had me all fixed up in a few minutes and he said all I owed him was a hand shake. Thanks Vandergriff Honda and Mike for helping me again in a pinch.

    Chris Gonzales, who has been my service adviser for several years, does an outstanding job of managing maintenance for my 2006 Insight. I have learned that his recommendations are trustworthy. For example, he suggested throttle body cleaning though that was not listed in the manual as a routine maintenance procedure. I agreed, and he was right: the car ran just that little better. Recently, the check engine light came on, with a blinking drive light. Chris and the service technicians spent more that a week trying to track down the real problem because the only error code the Insight showed did not seem to fully explain the situation. (And Chris is funny, too. At one point, he said "this car is kicking my butt".) In the end, they succeeded. The car is now getting good mileage and re-charging properly, running smoothly. Hybrids are complex, and until recently, Vandergriff didn't even sell them. I know this for a fact, because I had to go out of town to get my last two cars, both hybrids, because I was not able to get either the Civic hybrid or the Insight from Vandergriff. My experience was that Vandergriff sales department doesn't order in cars they don't have in stock, and they for sure were not going to order one for me that had to be shipped from Japan. Even then, before their dealership sold them, the service guys knew how to maintain hybrids. I've been impressed with integrity and competence of my advisers -- currently Chris Gonzales -- and the service technicians, and recommend them to anyone.

    We have 2 Honda Accord’s and 1 Civic and we have been taking them to Vandergriff Honda to get the services done. The staff at Vandergriff Honda service department has always been knowledgeable, courteous and professional. It feels good to have that personal touch and to feel welcome. Chris Gonzalez is constantly looking for ways to go above and beyond as well as making sure that the services on our vehicles are maximized. I highly recommend Vandergriff Honda Service department
