  • Keep Good Records, will need them.

I purchased a car on Feb 2015 and for 8 solid months, I had to fight to get what I was promised, on paper. They did not pay my car off and I had to chase then down to get a copy of the check. I thought the issues we resolved and actually recommended a family member to them. I had to beg and plead to get the referral we were promised . My "points" at the service center are still wrong. I keep getting promised a call back, to no avail. Don't buy a car with them unless you are ready to fight for every detail you are offered.

  • Deceitful

Initially we had a great experience. We went in to buy a car and we in and out of the dealership rather quickly... evidently too quickly. My wife and I were very hesitant at one point to buy the car because we were not sure how much the tags, title, and so forth would cost. Our salesman, Ben Howard, assured us that the "New Grad Rebate" that my wife and I would both be getting from the purchase of the new car would cover most, if not all, of the expense from the tags and so forth. This rebate was promised to be $500 for each of us- a total of $1000. He repeatedly told us, and even received confirmation from his sales manager, that we would both be eligible for the rebate since we both recently graduated from medical school. I asked him to put this promise in the paperwork, but was informed that they did not do this anymore because KIA didn't always accept the candidates for the "Recent Grad Rebate" for some reason or another. But he assured us that all we had to do was email him a copy of both of our diplomas and we would definitely get the rebate. After 8 months of no rebate check, unanswered emails, and multiple phone calls that were not returned from both Ben and his sales manager, Mr. Redfern, I was finally directed to Jess Serio the General Manager. This too proved to be unhelpful as the arrogant manager informed us that he didn't know why the rebate was delayed so long and why we thought we were getting $1000 when it would only be $400. Mr. Serio repeatedly said that he was sorry that we "misunderstood" the deal and that there was nothing that he could do for us. He was very condescending throughout the phone call informing me multiple times that he was "very educated" and had a degree from "Stanford". I assured him that the $600 that they were stealing from me would not come close to the dollar amount of the business that they would lose when people found out how they deceive their customers. Take home concept is to never buy a car from these people. You are just a number to them and they will do/say anything in order to get you sign on the dotted line!

  • Struggle to get trade in vehicle paid off

The beginning of July 2012 I purchased a KIA Optima fro JT Kia in Columbia South Carolina. The sales person was great and we had a very good experience negotiating the deal. We were so happy with the sales person that two weeks later we went back and purchased a KIA Soul for my wife. While negotiating the Optima deal I was told that my trade in would be paid off in 3 weeks. On July 22 I phoned the finance manager at JT KIA to find out when the trade would be paid off, I was told that the check was being mailed out on the 25th. I contacted Hyundai and notified them that he check was due to mail on the 25th. I am in the process of refinancing my house and on August the 7th I found out from my mortgage company that a late payment from Hyundai showed up on my credit. I phoned Hyundai and the account had not been settled. I phoned JT Kia and asked to speak to a manager, none were available so I left a message to be called back as soon as possible. The next day I had not received any calls so I tried on 5 occasions to get in contact with the finance manager who did the deal, with no luck. I eventually drove to the dealership to see him and after waiting 45 minutes he told me that there was a mix up and the check had actually been sent overnight on the 6th of August. He told me that he would phone me the next morning at 9:30 and they would stop the check and make an electronic payment to resolve this issue. On August the 9th after receiving no calls, I was able to get hold of the finance manger late afternoon and he told me that that payment on the 6th had not been sent overnight as Hyundai won’t accept overnight payments and his general manger was not available to do the electronic payment. I phoned Hyundai and they told me that overnight payments are accepted. On the 10th of August I went back to the dealership and after much complaining a general manager checked into the payment and told me that the check was only sent out on the 8th of August, they then got me in contact with another finance manager who said he had gone online and paid the account in full. After selling the vehicle I was trying to cancel the GAP insurance policy and on August the 29th the Hyundai dealership phoned to tell me that they had to send the refund to Hyundai because the account had not been settled. It has taken almost 2 months, numerous calls to Kia and to Hyundai to get the trade in paid off. My credit took a hit which prevented me from refinancing my house and I was lied to several times by JT KIA. The after sale service I have received from this dealership has been nonexistent and I would definitely recommend purchasing from another dealership.
    • Thank you for taking the time to post your review on JT Kia Doug. I will make sure that I avoid this dealership at all costs. The folks at JT Kia appear to be [non-permissible content removed]. It is unfortunate that these people are allowed to operate in this state. They give good dealerships a bad name.

    • Hello,— Firstly, let me apologize for the delay in responding to your review post. I read through your review, and I am disappointed by the terrible experience you had with us. It doesn't seem like you had a chance to talk to anyone directly at the dealership post-situation, so I would like to talk to you personally about this. If I can somehow reconcile whatever is left of our relationship with you and your wife, especially since you had a great first experience with the KIA Optima purchase, then I'd like to try for that. At your earliest convenience, please call me at (877) 317 - 8202, and ask for Eddie. I would hate for this to happen again, and I would ultimately like to keep you as a valued customer. Thank you, Eddie Wahdan General Manager JTs Autogroup
