  • Dishonest, unhelpful, inconvenient

DeCozen could not have been less helpful when we contacted them to schedule service on our Pacifica in response to a recall notice from Chrysler. Chrysler advised in its recall notice that one of the modules in our Pacifica needed reprogramming, and it could be done in 30-minutes at any dealership. Despite that, DeCozen told us it would take six-weeks to schedule and then, after we waited six-weeks and arranged for time off of work, they told us the day before the appointment that we were not on the schedule. We told them that we had scheduled the appointment six weeks ago, and, even then, after consulting with the service manager, we were told they could not accommodate us as scheduled. They told us we could leave the car there for several days to see if they could get to it, which is not an option for us as this is our only car that can accommodate our entire family. By way of explanation, DeCozen indicated that they had been provided a limited number of parts for this recall. They said this despite Chrysler having told us that the recall involved only reprogramming, and did not necessitate any parts. DeCozen also told us that we should take the car to the dealership where we had purchased it. They told us this despite Chrysler having advised that the recall could be fixed at any dealership. We reached out to a different dealership in the area, and they indicated that it was a simple fix and could be done in a short time. They were able to put us on their schedule within 48 hours of the call. We are grateful for the knowledge that DeCozen is not a place where we should be shopping in the future.

  • Bad motor

Purchased a used Dodge Dakota and the truck had a bad motor. None of the stated service work was done as stated on the sales contract. Tried to resolve with the owner of the dealership Michael Cerino- his statement is "Buyer Beware". Turned issue over to the NJ Attorney Generals office for Consumer Complaints

During the week of July 15, 2018 I was assisting my 93 year-old father-in-law in purchasing a good used car. Our sales person, Steven Sanabria, was a real pleasure with whom to work. Courteous and professional throughout the entire process, he was both thorough and patient in determining my father-in-law's needs and explaining to him the entire sales process. He found him the ideal car from the DeCozen inventory of late-model used cars, a 2014 Dodge Avenger loaner car with very low mileage. It was exactly what a senor citizen would need. Thank you for a very pleasant buying experience. Paul DeSisto, Cedar Grove, NJ

  • Deceived

1 out of 5 starsby JosephLoBello on 07/13/2018

I called DeCozen on Wednesday and spoke with Mark Ciasulo about a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and made an appointment to see the car. When I got to the dealer I followed up with Brian Walker who emailed Just a bit earlier before coming. When I got to the dealer Brian said he had the car ready for me. Brian introduced me to John Bowler in sales who left me waiting for a half hour with still no car. John then stated the car was getting detailed. So after making an appointment and getting told the car was ready a half hour ago when I first arrived it suddenly was getting detailed. Bottom line is this is a bait and switch to get you in and the car was not there to begin with. Do not do business with this dealer.

  • Lousy sales.

1 out of 5 starsby Unhappy on 01/27/2018

Before showing me the vehicle, which salesman did not know where it was located, salesman was questioning my financials and what my credit score is. Never told the salesman I would be a cash buyer, for a used GMC Yukon. While looking at the vehicle, noticed check engine light on, which salesman gave me a lame excuse and said that it happens to all cars, while sitting in the lot. Gave salesman my contact information, asked him to call me, once check engine light has been looked into and problem fixed. Still waiting, since, since October 2017.

  • Easy, Painless, Straightforward Purchase

    5 out of 5 starsby Pete_M on 08/27/2017

I went to DeCozen because they were a certified TrueCar dealer, and they had the right trim I was looking for in a Jeep Renegade. I dealt with Marlene Banos, who was very friendly and straightforward, and she honored the rate I had been given on TrueCar without any bait and switch or attempts to add on unneeded extras. Same was true of Damien (sp?) in finance, who was probably relieved that i was a cash buyer without any trade-ins. We agreed on a price, was able to get a bank check for the balance, and I drove away with the car a couple of hours later. Totally satisfied - would absolutely recommend to others if they have the car you're looking for!

Very shady sales tactics; brought in truecar quote and salesman jacked up numbers with ridiculous fees - and had attitude to boot.

[non-permissible content removed] This place gets zero stars ! They tried every scam in the book to try to get over on us, especially the Bait and switch tactic! Do not give your personal information until you see everything on paper. There was a ton of yelling, screaming, cursing and total unprofessionalism going on in the office. Be aware of the fake fees that are listed on the contracts, I.e delivery charge, the destination charge should be $995 on most cars, not $2,000 delivery its Bogus. They also miscalculated the taxes in order to get more money. Jeffrey Weaver wasted 2 days of our time trying to scam us . Luckily we were smarter than that. Additionally, we never met with a sales manager. RUN! RUN! RUN! [non-permissible content removed]
  • Great Experiance

I leased a Jeep from DeCozen in August 2015. Great experience and a truly FANTASTIC price! I shopped around about 10 dealers in NJ and NY, but DeCozen beat them all! My sales guy was Steven Sanabria - fabulous customer service both before and after the sale. Recommending to all my friends!
  • Horrible dealer avoid

I purchased 2013 charger srt8 with 25 k miles. Salesman Frank told me car was "great" and that a full inspection was done. I drove the car home with my pregnant wife and 2 small children and while on the highway I immediately had heavy shaking and pulling when stepping on the brakes.Found out the rotors where all warped and brakes totally worn. I had to bring the car back & they did fix it no cost but had to wait 7 hours, then 1 day later the battery is dead on the car & i had to replace it. When I drove the car that night one of the lights was burnt out & I had to replace it! The passenger rear tire keeps losing air & I found out that the rim was damaged and had been welded which caused the tire to continuously lose air slowly- the Decozen dealership told me that there is nothing they can do about the rim & would give me a discount and charge $607.20 to fix it - I also found out through another dealership that both rocker panels are broken and need to be replaced. Frank also said he would mail me a second key to the car, but never mailed me my second car key as promised. (i have called him 10 times) and he never called me back. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible experience!!! And will never buy another Dodge. My advice is avoid this dealership at all costs or bring a mechanic with you. They lie! Very shady. Warning do not buy from this dealership!!!
  • TOLD TO GET THE

I went to Decozen to inquire about leasing a new 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I was working with a very professional salesman by the name of George Labrunda who knows members of my family and also other close friends of mine. He was nothing but professional and clearly presents himself that way at all times. We were negotiating what they were giving me for my 2010 Range Rover and George had to go discuss this with the owner Jerry Cerino. Mr. Cerino came back with a Galves book and stated to me that "my vehicle depreciated another $500 in just 30 days" and I asked him "what the Galves ready price was." He said, "nobody give Galves ready for a vehicle." I replied they most certainly do when the vehicle is in the condition that mine is," and he told me to [non-permissible content removed] out of his dealership right in front of the salesman George Labrunda. I immediately replied to Mr. Cerino "that was the most unprofessional choice of words that any owner could ever say to a customer." Mr. Cerrino needs a lesson in customer relationship management and is clearly the most unprofessional dealership owner that I have ever encountered. I am following up with a letter to Chrysler to let them know how their brand is being represented in the market. There were other people in the showroom with children and I hope they heard that comment he made to me and left immediately.
  • Disapointed/Disrespected

    2.8 out of 5 starsby 80man on 06/19/2009

I visited this dealership twice before deciding to make purchase.Everything seemed fine,my wife and I selected a vehicle negotiated terms signed peliminary paperwork and were approved for financing. We were told the modifications to the vehicle (wheels, radio, remote starter) would take a few days,we left a minimal deposit having been approved with tier 1 credit . The salseman called us 5 days later to pickup our vehicle.when we arrived at dealership we were presented with final paperwork,I wanted to inspect vehicle before signing then we were told the remote starter was on back order and we could bring the vehicle back for installation. When I declined to sign any paperwork untill the vehicle was complete, the sales manager thought it was appropriate to chastise me on effects the economy is having on dealerships ,he was most inappropriate and disrespectful. After I spoke to who I believe to be the GM the sales manager came back with a patronizing apology, needless to say we were not able to complete this deal.
    • "needless to say we were not able to complete this deal." Why? I am sure that you could have waited a couple of days, until the part was in & could be installed... OR have bought the car, and asked for paperwork showing that the other accessory was paid, and owed to you. BTW, I do NOT work there, and never did - BUT I did sell cars many many years ago, in Essex County, for a small and very honest old-school dealership, and could never figure out buyers. So many were so irrational and hard to deal with. The only thing they ever believed you with, was that when they asked you where the men's room was and you told them...THAT was about the only thing that they actually believed ! It almost seemed like it was worthless to speak to them, at all. I think you just changed you mind on the car, and used that as an excuse to bow out. I sold Subaru in South Orange, NJ

    • This dealership is the biggest scam artist........ I bought my son a car from them, They told me he needed Brakes ( under 12,000 thousand miles) They charge me almost 600.00, when it was covered under the 12/12 I have NEVER in my opion seen a more DISHONEST dealership in my life, do your self a favor, stay as far away from that dealership as you can!!!!!!!!! Oh by the way the car has since been back to the dealership 5 different times, Laurie

  • My Purchase Experience

    4.8 out of 5 starsby vfuto000 on 10/06/2007

I went somewhere else first and got a quote to purchase a new Grand Cherokee. I started shopping around and realized I wouldn't find a better price then what I had... however, I hadn't gone to decozen yet. When I walked into DeCozen they were so attentive, and they really wanted my business. A salesman sat down with me and went over all the discounts/rebates I qualify for (something other dealers didn't do )...to make a long story short, they gave me a better price then I could ever imagine (they beat the other dealers by far/@ least $40/month) and so I got my New Grand Cherokee from them & I would recommend Joe (my salesman) to anyone out there who is hesitant in buying because of all the dealer scams out there! He explained everything & went out of his way to make sure I was happy. Thanks DeCozen...LOVE the jeep!!!!!

Tried to buy a car from this place recently. Salesman Justin A. treated me very rudely and tried to rip me off. Looked him up and he's a convicted criminal for theft related charges. Any dealer that would hire someone like this is worth staying away from.

I originally contacted Kim (internet salesperson) and Jerry (Finance Manager) about a Lincoln Limo listed for sale on ebay on Wed. May 29th. Jerry agreed to sell the vehicle for $6,900. They ran my American Express for $500 on May 31 for the deposit to hold the vehicle, and was making arrangements to bring the remainder in cash from my home in Michigan to his dealership in New Jersey within the week. I have several email correspondences to support the transaction, and how the delivery, payment and timeline was going to take place. I received a phone call on Tue. June 4th that they were returning my $500 deposit, because they had a buyer walk in and give them $7,900 in cash. Any reputable dealership or salesperson would never do this to a customer. Especially one that had a deposit. Buyer BEWARE!!! This is a true story. I have reported it to ebay and I hope they revoke their right to sell online through their venue. It is unbelievable to me in the year 2013 that we still have dealerships out there with this much lack of integrity. It is only a matter of time before you run yourself out of business, I just hope you don't hurt too many honest customers along the way. Total Shame!!!!

Walked in on an evening and the sales guy Joe agreed to match our out-of-door quote from another dealer, and ask us to come in the next morning. The next day when we sat down and started the paperwork, he started to charge us over $3000 of destination charge. Why would anybody waist any time with this dealer?

Im pretty sure the salesmans name was Rich. He was the most down to earth car salesmen I have ever met. He made my wife and I feel welcome and never pressured us to buy a car we didnt want. We just had a child & def didnt want a minivan. After being at the dealership for awhile we decided on a 2012 Jeep Compass and we are quite happy. I feel that we got a good deal.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. This place is an absolute disaster. To make a long story short, after a long search at many dealerships my husband and I finally decided to go with the Grand Cherokee at Decozen. We were told by a salesman named George (who is a complete [non-permissible content removed] to be nice) that he could do the deal at 6k down and $300 month for a 3 year lease, 15k miles a year. This was stated on Saturday and agreed that we would come back Monday to sign the paperwork. We called him on Monday AM to confirm but never heard back (should have been our first warning). On Monday, when we returned, he acted like he didn't know who we were. We actually thought maybe he was on something? He kept repeating his catch phrase "are you ready to deal?" He then tells us the car we want is $379 on 12k miles a year. When we asked how this could be after what he told us on Saturday, he LAUGHED saying "the deal changed today". He couldn't call us? OR tell us that right when we walked in? Instead he made us wait for almost 20 minutes while he disappeared in the back office. Also, I am almost 9 months pregnant and to drag us in there fully knowing you were just jerking us around is absolutely disgusting. Complete waste of time. Let me do you a favor--when you pass this place, just keep driving. Save yourself from an unnecessary headache and a crooked BS-filled salesman.

Put a deposit on a new 2014 Dodge car. Went back the next day, changed our mind and wanted our deposit back. They refused to return our deposit claiming non refundable. Called up Dodge, Dodge states that they cannot control the dealer on how they do business.
