Extraordinaryly good service

Very good experience at Dover Honda
by jenmarie on 07/12/2009My husband and I had been shopping for a new car for about 2 weeks when we finally decided upon a 2009 Honda CR-V. We'd been to a few Honda dealers but ended up at Dover Honda since they had a particular color in stock. The dealership is… pretty unassuming ... half of the lot is poorly paved and the other half is dirt, I believe. Both times we visited, no salesperson came out to greet us ... this is a plus for me, since I was pretty sick of being tackled the moment I stepped onto a lot. When we decided to go ahead and make an offer, we entered the showroom and were greeted by Casey Tong (also mentioned in another review here on Edmunds.com). I'd done a lot of research on Edmunds.com, Consumerreports.com and other sites and books about buying new cars and dealing with dealerships, so I pretty much knew what to expect and Casey fit the mold of the model car salesman. However, he seemed personable and sincere and I was comfortable doing business with him. After a brief overview of features and some anecdotal stories of former customers he'd sold CR-Vs to, he allowed us to test drive the vehicle we'd chosen by ourselves. When we returned to the showroom after the test drive, we met up with Casey at his desk. He asked us how much we were hoping to pay, and I told him we wanted a fair price but he should make the first offer (just in case it was lower than ours). I came armed with a very competitive offer from another dealership I'd received through an internet query, and hoped he would be able to match it or do better. His offer was about $500 more than the other one, so I shared with him the offer we wanted him to match. With minimal dickering, we were able to get the car at the price we wanted, which was $1000 below invoice + $325 administration fees (this is high, but since the total price was what we wanted, it didn't matter and I was willing to give him something) and one accessory item. It helped that we were shopping at a time when all these dealerships seemed to have an abundant supply of CRVs and were receiving a cash-to-dealer bonus from Honda (though 9/08/2009). Casey told us that the dealership lost money on our deal, although I have a hard time believing that. After closing the deal and shaking hands, we went to get a check from our bank while the dealership prepared the car for us. We returned an hour later and met with someone in the finance office to do the paperwork. I was a little worried we'd be given a hard sell on extra warranties, etc., but we weren't at all! It was very quick and painless and we were out the door with keys to our new car within a matter of minutes. I'd highly recommend Dover Honda. We never felt uncomfortably pressured to buy, the atmosphere seemed congenial, and the dealership is employee-owned ... a refreshing surprise after having visited many mega-dealerships.Dear Jenmarie, Thank you for your honest review of Dover Honda on Edmunds.com. Casey Tong is great!
by maryloub on 01/12/2009I bought a 2009 CRV EXL at Dover Auto World. The sales person, Casey Tong was personality PLUS! Very knowledgeable, kind and I got a very good deal! I wanted the Uran Titanium color and there were none on the lot...Casey had one for me in… one day! On the other hand...the manager was not so great. The on-line site offered a coupon for $400.00 worth of accessories free! Yipppe right? Well, I drove the 40 minutes to get to this dealer and realized I had not done the coupon on-line. I asked ..."can I do it from here? The manager said...nope...too late! Not so great customer servce from the one person that should be setting the example for others on her staff, especially during this tough economic time. It really was my own fault for not filling it out...however, I had been through a terrible car accident and dealing with police, doctors, injured husband and my own injuries....she could have cut me a break!Dear Maryloub, Thank you for taking the time to review Dover Honda on Edmunds.com. Poor performance

It was not and the trade in price was lower than everyones. I did purchase a Honda at PRIME Honda in… Saco. please change the to straight forward lowest prices like Prime HondaWe sincerely apologize that your experience at Dover Honda was unsatisfactory. Absolutely Amazing Experience!

Sue was not only a pleasure to work with, she was professional, knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. Our unique situation caused us to… spend most of our day at Dover Honda. While handling multiple customers we still received that one on one attention from every person involved with assisting us. Their finance department was amazing and Zeb really know the meaning of think out side the box when it comes to dealing with banks. The staff was compassionate about our situation and worked hard to get us not only what we really needed, but got us into the car of our dreams! Very rude manager
by vie2 on 05/26/2014updated 06/12/2025We went to Dover Honda to look at cars and we're interested on a couple car so the sales person give us a price and we ask if we can get the price down if we paid full up front and she said "yes well of course and she call the sale person… who in charge and that person come to us and said so do u like our car and we say yes then he ask how much would u like to paid for the car. Then we answer and he pull his hand out (as he's about to shake hands) and he said well congratulation then as my sister about to shake his hand HE PULL HIS HAND BACK AND HE SAID NO AND LEFT. How rude is that..
