Took car in for an oil change and was informed at that time there was a recall. I was glad the staff informed me of… the recall otherwise I would not have known. by schaasyd on 06/15/2015Krissy and Eddie both took care of me during my new car purchase. Krissy is relatively new to the dealership and over the course of one week which I was in and out of the dealership it was disheartening to see that she had computer problems… which pertained for over 5 days. I hope that in the future, these technical difficulties will not be so persistent as it really did affect her ability to help me as a customer. I came into the dealership not knowing exactly what I wanted, and Krissy/Eddie helped me decide on a car and specific features. Unfortunately, the car that I wanted was sold the day that I expressed interest. It was off-putting to receive the phone call suggesting that if I were to add more feature content (i.e. pay more money) they would be able to find a replacement car. Thankfully, working at Ford I have access to the dealer inventory and was able to provide the two of them with 5 specific VINs which were spec'd to my wants. I was off-put again the next day when I got the text message that none of the 5 vehicles worked out. At this point, I contacted the Ferndale dealership and was preparing to purchase the car I wanted from a different dealership. Within a few hours, Krissy had informed me that she was planning to pick up the car (the one from Ferndale) for me and bring it back to Bob Maxey in Detroit. I'm happy that things worked out at Bob Maxey as I was set on finding a vehicle in Detroit where it will be more convenient to service and stop in at the dealership. If I didn't have the resources available to me because of my job, I may have left the dealership disappointed.Great Employees, Great Service

He is friendly (in a professional way), courteous, and always tries to help solve problems as efficiently and… cooperatively as possible. As I now move to Chicago, I'm going to miss the exemplary quality of service Art has taught me to expect from Ford Motor Company employees. I have no idea of where to go now to get the same treatment!)need sustanance

I did call ahead and the dealership ordered the part, so when I got there it did not take them… long to do the service. The courtesy car dropped me off at my job and picked me up when the work was completed. Art was very helpful getting me in and out. I love the staff at Bob Maxey and I would recommend them to anyone. The service department of Ford was ready to go to work in a timely fashion. Mike in Ford's service… Department did a great job in answering all question and concerns. He was on point. I'm glad that this service departmetn is open for the detroit metro area!!Appreciation

DISHONEST - SLOPPY - DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK -- SAFETY ISSUE
by cicip on 09/05/2012updated 07/24/2025DISHONEST - SLOPPY - DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK -- SAFETY ISSUE They were dishonest about repairing my fuel pump. 625 miles after they repaired my car I had to pay a second mechanic $850 to do the exact some work. They refused to reimburse… me. Thank God my car didn't break down during my 625 mile drive back to NY. Their shoddy work put me in a dangerous situation. Please read this... I live in NY- while visiting family in Michigan went to Bob Maxey for a tune-up. They said my fuel pump was broken. I paid $1,000 for the tune-up and to replace the fuel pump- 625 miles later it broke. I had it towed to my regular mechanic in NY and he said it had not been replaced (in spite of my being charged at full price for labor and parts.) His theory was that IF they did anything then they only partially replaced the fuel pump and if so, they put in aftermarket parts. I attempted to work with them and they "put in a claim" which took months to review- during this time I was back in Michigan and went back to the shop and I learned about a "leaky oil pan" which was never mentioned. Hmmmm... why? The response "Oh, well, sometimes we make mistakes." Okay, I thought, I get that. I wouldn't have had it fixed at the time- but I thought I should have at least been notified since I paid for a tune-up! But I make mistakes too, and told him "Thanks for your honesty." And I meant it. Owning up to a mistake is rare... but then... My claim was denied. I was stunned- I had all of the documentation, proof of a 2nd payment, etc. But also, thank God the car didn't break down during my drive from Michigan back to New York. Can you imagine that nightmare? It's not only that they essentially stole my money- but people forget that their safety is at risk when mechanics are careless, parts aren't replaced and the repairs you think are done are not. **Re: American Express Whenever a company does not take American Express beware. Amex is great with dispute charges. I had no idea that a Ford Dealership wouldn't take Amex- it speaks volumes about the company's credibility.
