  • Troubling Lack of Response from Foundation Kia

1 out of 5 starsby Rob Delisa on 11/20/2024
    updated 12/03/2024

I recently purchased a vehicle from Foundation Kia in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and feel compelled to share my concerns about their business practices—and their troubling lack of response to my follow-ups. The dealership promised $17,000 for… my trade-in if I financed the car rather than paying cash. However, the contract listed only $15,700. When I questioned this, they explained the difference was offset by “effective sales tax savings.” At the time, I was overwhelmed by the process and didn’t fully understand what this meant. After reviewing the paperwork at home, I realized the tax savings were a benefit of state law, not something the dealership provided. This misrepresentation left me feeling deceived. Additionally, a $799 charge for a LoJack product was included in the contract, which I never requested or recall discussing. This added to my frustration with the dealership’s lack of transparency. I contacted the dealership to propose a fair resolution: a $1,449 refund to cover half the trade-in discrepancy and the unwanted product, as well as confirmation of no prepayment penalty for the loan. Despite assurances they would review my concerns, I’ve been met with complete silence. This lack of communication raises serious questions. If the dealership were on solid financial or legal ground, wouldn’t they want to address customer concerns promptly and transparently? Their failure to engage leaves me suspicious about the state of their operations and their commitment to ethical business practices. I’m sharing this to caution others about my experience and will be reaching out to consumer agencies to question whether these practices are ethical—or even legal. Transparency and accountability are essential for earning customer trust, and unfortunately, Foundation Kia has failed on both counts.
  • A Disappointing and Misleading Car-Buying Experience at Foundation Kia

1 out of 5 starsby Rob Delisa on 11/20/2024

I recently purchased a vehicle from Foundation Kia in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and while I entered the process in good faith, my experience ultimately left me feeling misled and undervalued as a customer. I was clear about my expectation of… receiving $17,000 for my trade-in. The dealership agreed to this amount, but only on the condition that I finance the vehicle for a 60-month term instead of paying cash as I had originally planned. They explained this would benefit them due to manufacturer kickbacks. Wanting to make the deal work, I agreed to this arrangement, believing it to be a fair compromise. However, when it came time to sign the paperwork, the trade-in value listed was only $15,700. When I questioned this, the dealership explained that the difference was offset by "tax savings" due to state laws regarding trade-ins. While I partially understood this explanation, I now realize this was a misleading justification. The tax savings are a benefit of state law, not an additional concession from the dealership. In essence, they never fulfilled their promise to pay $17,000 for my trade-in. To add to my frustration, I later discovered an additional $799 charge for a LoJack aftermarket product that I neither requested nor recall being explicitly informed about during the transaction. This charge was not discussed and was easy to miss amidst the paperwork. Recognizing that I did sign the contract, I reached out to the dealership with a compromise: I requested a $1,449 refund, consisting of $650 (half the trade-in difference) and $799 for the unwanted aftermarket product. Despite initial assurances from the general manager that this would be reviewed, the dealership has since stopped responding to my emails and follow-ups. Their silence speaks volumes. If the dealership truly believed they acted fairly, wouldn’t they want to resolve this matter and clarify their position? Their unwillingness to engage only reinforces my feeling that their actions were neither transparent nor fair. I entered this transaction expecting honesty and integrity, and I am deeply disappointed by how this situation has unfolded. My hope is that by sharing my experience, I can caution others to scrutinize every detail when working with this dealership and encourage Foundation Kia to prioritize transparency, fairness, and genuine customer care in the future.
    • Dealerships are so shady. You should pay off your loan in full, if you have the cash, to save paying interest.

  • Avoid this Foundation Kia!

1 out of 5 starsby edmaglinte on 09/16/2024

Foundation Kia sold me a Certified Pre-Owned Kia EV6 with a mouse living in it. The dealer knew something was wrong because between our 1st test drive and 2nd test drive, the dealer 'cleaned' and air freshened the car. But they didn't clean… well enough to notice mouse droppings throughout the car. After spending our money at this dealership, our treatment by this dealer has been terrible. We bought the car on Saturday, August 17. On Sunday, August 31 I noticed the car smelled and found mouse droppings in the car. We didn't notice the smell sooner due to the strong air freshner that was used in the car. Once we looked, we found mouse droppings all over, including under the rear seats, in the rear storage space, and near the subwoofer in back. The mouse has also chewed up fabric items in the car, including a deodorizer bag left by the dealer. We have never had a mouse in our garage or in the other car stored in our garage. This is only a mouse problem in the Kia EV6. My partner and I both work full time, and he is also taking graduate classes, so it is difficult to bring the car in on a weekday. When I brought it back on Saturday, September 7th, the service department refused to help me because I hadn't made an appointment. And the salesperson and finance person challenged me for not calling about the problem, not making an appointment, and not bringing in the car sooner. They refused to help me and told me to talk with the general manager, but the manager wouldn't be in until Monday. When my partner returned on Monday, September 9th, the manager refused to speak to my partner. The salesperson said the dealership refused to take responsibility for the problem, they wouldn't help remove the mouse and clean the car, and they wouldn't cover the cost if we had the mouse removed and car cleaned. The manager told my partner that if he didn't take the car off their lot, they would have it towed and impounded. Once you've spent your money on a car at Foundation Kia, the people at this dealership do not care about you or your vehicle. Do NOT buy from Foundation Kia.
