Lying to the customer

by AJan on 11/08/2023

Made an appointment to see and buy a car. A manager confirmed the appointment and welcomed me to see the car. I drove 50 miles and When I arrived I was told by the same manager that the car was just sold a few minutes ago. Next day I randomly saw the car was still available but guess what changed in the status? Increased the price. I am wondering why they didn't honestly say that the price has gone up rather than lying?!

Late Night Car Run

by Brad_S_CA on 06/29/2015

I went to the dealership 5 minutes before closing on Friday night and Mark introduced me to my sales person Jeremy. I had negotiated a deal on the way to the dealership and Jeremy showed me 5 different cars and really took a lot of time with me . I ended up getting a car from Thousand Oaks Toyota because of the staff and great selection of cars.

wouldn't go back

by jon4231748 on 02/08/2015

I bought a car here yesterday and they really tried hard to up-sale. Especially on the comprehensive warranty, which I turned down 4 separate times for 4 different prices. We were also told it would be topped off with gas before we left and it was left more than a quarter tank low. It was over 3 hours from when we walked in until we finally left and we went in knowing exactly the car we wanted. BOOO

Best buying esperience ever!

by Barb88 on 09/15/2014

What a great experience! We were not expecting to leave with a brand new car, but Jeremy and the TO Toyota staff were so pleasant to work with and made us a deal we could not refuse! We are extremely happy with our new vehicle and even more so with our entire buying experience...I would HIGHLY recommend TO Toyota to anyone I know just as it was recommended to me by someone else who loves doing business there.. I really can't see us ever buying a car anywhere else from now on! THANK YOU!!!

Very good Experience

by rupam on 01/29/2012

Having researched the car I wanted to buy online, I requested a quote online from a few dealers near by. I received quotes from everyone but the price, responsiveness, professionalism and overall sales experience with this dealership was outstanding. When I requested a quote online, I specifically requested that they do not call me and bother and this is the only dealer that respected that wish and waited for me to call. After a few rounds of negotiations which were friendly and reasonable, we were able to agree on a price on the phone which was honored throughout the sale. While they were keen to sell the car, they were not pushy and obnoxious like some other dealers. I ended up purchasing the car from them and the people I dealt with in Internet sales, finance and management were extremely courteous made us feel welcome. We left with a very good feeling. I am not sure whether this is the experience I would have if I went to the sales staff directly but my interactions with the Internet sales staff was exceptional. I still get calls from other dealers that I got quotes from even though I requested that they not call me!

only place I go

by privat3 on 12/29/2011

I serviced our Avalon here for 13 years, Corolla for 10 and now just completed first 5,000 mile service on new Prius. Always greeted by name, provides updates while waiting. I trust them.

1st Camry hybrid of 2012. They tracked build & shipping of car; met all price committments. Took time to answer all questions - no hard pressure or tricks. Also bought Prius from them 2 months ago!

Not Pushy, yet Aggressive

by jopheus on 06/26/2010

I visited several dealers to test drive different popular mini vans. Some did not even bother offer me a test drive because I told them I am still in research phase. This dealer is different, right after the test drive, the salesperson asked me to give her a price to work on, I told her I have not done enough research to know what is a good price. She quickly offered me to use their computer in the office, I got on to Edmunds.com, found the TMV price; now since I had no intention to buy the car that day, I made an offer $500 below the TMV. After 2 hours, I drove out the dealership with the new Sienna for $300 below the TMV. I am very happy with the car and the entire experience. I do regret traded in my old car on that day, because I could have gotten much better price selling it on my own. But even that, I cannot blame this decision on the dealership; during the entire trade in negotiation, the sales person repeatedly told me not to trade in the car because I could easily get a better price from private buyer. One negative note on the dealership, every car on the lot came with a stolen vehicle recovery service, which the dealer insist you must pay $200-$300 for because it's pre-installed. For me, this was not mentioned throughout the negotiation, and they sort of sneak this in on the contract. It was good thing I went through every single item during the signing, I told them I don't want it and therefore will not pay for it. Eventually they remove it from the contract.

I get great service every time

by suzyb0904 on 06/11/2008

I have 170,000 miles, in 4 years, on my Prius, which I did NOT buy at the dealership. I go about once a month to get it serviced (lots of miles every week). So I know about this service department, for all types of service jobs. No matter which guy I get, I'm in and out in usually less than an hour, except for the big maintenance jobs. I don't usually even make an appointment, though I call to see if it's super busy before I come in. if possible. The shuttle runs frequently and is reliable. I have never been told I need a major or expensive repair (ie. extra costs). The estimate always matches the amount I end up paying. They are friendly and efficient. If I need something replaced (eg a belt or hose) they tell me up front, and give me the part so i can see just how worn it is. It usually takes about 5 minutes or less to pay and have my car brought to the front, and then I'm outa there! This is probably the most efficient and reliable service dept. I've ever used, regardless of make of car. I no longer dread taking my car in. In fact, I just bought a new Prius and will definitely get it serviced ONLY at this location.

friendly, efficient, heard me the first time

by suzyb0904 on 06/11/2008

I bought a new Prius. I called, got cell phone numbers so I wouldn't have to go through the system to talk to my sales guy. I paid the price they quoted, not more. They gave me a great price on my trade in, even though it was pretty bashed in the back bumper/light, and fully stained on the inside, and had 170,000 miles on it. I told them over the phoneI didn't want extras and they did NOT try to toack them on at the end. I didn't get hassled about add-ons and all that other stuff no one wants. They had the paperwork ready by the time I got to the dealership, and had the car ready within about 20 minutes of my finishing the paperwork. This is my second Prius (I bought the first one somewhere else 4 years ago) so I knew all the features but at my request they tweaked my Bluetooth for me before I left. Nice professional, easy easy experience. No stress at all.

Great Dealership

by shaggo on 04/24/2008

Any business is only as good as its employees, and I am writing this review because Thousand Oaks Toyota has an excellent staff. Our Salesman Russ was very knowledgeable about the Prius, and all the Hybrids on the market. What really impressed me was the time he took to make sure I understood the Navigation System and the BlueTooth. The Toyota system is very easy to use, but the time Russ Took to show me all the great features really helped me get the most out of my car. I would definately recommend this dealership, and I would definately recommend Russ, he is very low pressure, honest, and he even called me a few days after I had already bought the car to make sure I was happy, and to see if I wanted another lesson with Navigation.

Loved My Buying Experience

by genius163 on 03/20/2008

I loved buying my 2008 Scion xD from Thousand Oaks Toyota. We test drove as many as we wanted. The salespeople (Fred, especially) provided great information and didn't pressure us at all. When my husband and I left for lunch we didn't get the usual hard sell they make the instant you even hint about leaving the lot. The sales department and the finance guy made us a great deal on our trade, which was a lease buy-out. We had previously walked out on other dealers over this same trade. The only drawback for me was the hard sell we got on useless add-ons from the finance guy.

2007 Toyota Camry SE purchased from Thousand Oaks Toyota Scion

by khaney on 03/05/2008

We honestly don't know what to do at this point, our experience has been terrible. We didn't even own the car a week and while on the freeway the tire pressure light came on, I drove straight to the dealership to have it checked. I waited at the dealership while they checked the front driver side tire. Told me that it was just low on air, no nails etc. and I could take it. A couple months later after continually putting air in the tire and now "tires" I had a disagreement with the dealership over who's responsibility it was to fix the problem. I was told that the dealership and the repair areas are different and I needed to go through the dealership. They stated it was a problem with the tires and the dealership should handle, now the dealership stated the repair area should handle and at one point I was even told to contact the manufacture of the tire company to fix it. I bought the car brand new with the tires that were on it but now I need to work with the actual tire manufacturer? Approximately November of 07, I was driving down the Conejo Grade in Camarillo, California and started to feel like I was losing control of the car, I couldn't steer it and hit the brakes really hard to come to a stop without hitting any other vehicles. The car was towed to Toyota who explained that the transmission needed to be replaced and the reason why I couldn't steer my car was something to do with how the transmission rotates the wheels and one wheel was pointed towards the right and one was where it should be. I could have been killed or hurt someone else and I was very upset especially after hearing that I wasn't the only one this has happened to. At this time I was told that my brakes were warped and I had to pay $180.00 to fix them, apparently when I hit my breaks real hard to try and stop the car without crashing I warped the breaks. This wasn't under warrantee. I received the car back approximately a week later and was told that the tires were fine, breaks we now fixed and they put in a new transmission. When I left the dealership the engine still didn't feel right it was lunging. So I brought the car back and they did a test drive with me in the car and of course it didn't do it. Monday, February 25, 08 tires still losing air I'm putting air in the tires about ever two days. Brought car back to Toyota. The dealer agreed to and put all new tires on my car due to them leaking and they also hadn't worn right due to constant change in air pressure. Wednesday February 27, 2008 We called the dealer to find out the status and were told that the car had all new tires placed on it and they fixed it so the rims/tires wouldn't leak and we could come and get our car. Dropped of the rental car went to the dealer where we were assured all was fine. Pulled out of the parking space at the dealer the pressure light was on, got out of the car and again we had a flat tire, now we have an even worse leaking problem. They kept the car to fix it? Thursday February 28, 2008 We called it's not fixed. Friday February 29, 2008 We received a message after leaving several that they were sending my car via flatbed to Oxnard to have them replace the rims on the car, that they now believe it's the rims that are a problem. Monday March 3, 2008 I called the dealer they stated that our car came back late Saturday night and was ready to go, new rims and tires complete. Why didn't they call us on Sunday to pick up the car? In the scheme of things it really didn't matter. My husband and I went to the dealer assured everything was completed and all is good. We were given the keys and we were sent to the back lot to get our car. Right away we noticed the front tire was low/flat the rims had not been replaced in fact they were all pealing where the tire touched the rim which wasn't there before. We went back into the dealer, the person we were dealing with admitted he never checked the car when it came in and just assumed the car w
