Alpha Motorsports Manassas: Misleading Sales Practices
by NicholasM on 08/17/2024Alpha Motorsports Manassas lacks transparency and is engaged in misleading sale practices. I gave them several opportunities. I interacted with Daniel and texted back that I'm from out of state and don't do add-ons. I received a reply ofโฆ thank you. Amir was no less forthcoming about what they were actually selling, became confrontational when I questioned their business practices, and then lied about how long they've had the car. Really foolish behavior. There is very little info on their website and it's hidden by design: -$1,499 Dealer Processing Fee: The highest fee in U.S and unjustified. -States Clean CARFAX when it was involved in an accident. -No Inspection Report -No Reconditioning Report They post a "Retail Price" minus (-) "Savings" for a "One Time Payment." . So unless you qualify for Military, Government employee, Student and VA resident YOU PAY the retail price. The retail price is way ABOVE market rates still inflated from Covid. That puts the car THOUSANDS over value. So de facto you will be into negative equity if you agree to their retail price. So in my case: -Retail Price: $26,900 -Savings: $5,000 -Sales Price of $21,900 (one time payment) Vaguely worded: ๐๐๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ก. Some of the most misleading pricing I've seen. Upon review, maintenance is overdue as I know the service schedule. I found the CarFax. 6 owners, 1 key-fob, one accident. Proceed with extreme caution! I would not come here unless you're local. This dealer is not transparent!!Tread carefully when buying from this dealer
by David Meyer on 11/16/2022Summary: Tread carefully when buying from this dealer as they will not stand behind their products and will not disclose any potential mechanical issues that they should've identified. Details: I went to this dealer to look at a 2013โฆ Tesla Model S on a Friday. When I arrived, I was told that the car wasn't there but they would have it there in 1.5 hours. I came back 1.5 hours later right when the car arrived after being driven by one of their employees. I took it for a quick test drive but was unable to get to highway speeds due to traffic congestion in Manassas. I wound up buying the vehicle As Is as I falsely assumed that the vehicle was fine and the dealer would have inspected the vehicle and disclosed any potential problems. This turned out being a costly assumption. The next day (Saturday) I took it on a highway and immediately identified a potential problem with the vehicle. I took it to their Fredericksburg location where I attempted to return the vehicle. I was told by the staff that their maintenance team was not available but they had someone drive with me who verified there was a problem. They then had me call the salesperson in Manassas who assured me they would look at the vehicle on Monday and would work with me to resolve the problem. I took the vehicle in on Monday and the salesperson told me the maintenance team thought the problem was the drive motor needed to be lubricated and his maintenance team could do the work on Thursday or Friday and he would call me back. I did not receive a phone call on Thursday so I called him on Friday when he then changed his story and told me the maintenance team did not feel comfortable working on a Tesla and I needed to have Tesla inspect it and then let the dealer know what the issue was. I asked what would we do when we had the information and he told me to work it out with the GM. I emailed the GM with a timeline of the events thus far and he assured me he would work with me once Tesla had performed the inspection. Please note that I have documentation for all of this and he did not dispute the timeline or assurances provided by his sales team. The following Thursday, Tesla performed the inspection and identified that the wheels needed to be balanced, the bearings needed to be replaced, the axle was leaking and the drive motor needed to be replaced. The first 3 issues are not unique to a Tesla and should have been identified if the vehicle had been inspected by the dealer so either they didn't inspect it or they didn't disclose the issues when selling the vehicle. Also, the employee who drove the vehicle to the Manassas location should have known there was a problem as well. When I informed the dealer about the results, his approach immediately changed and he told me I bought the car as is and they would only offer $1000. I offered to split the repair costs or trade the vehicle towards a different vehicle but they did not respond. Bottom line: A reputable dealer will inspect their vehicles and fix any problems before selling it. This dealer did not do that, did not take the vehicle back when I tried to return it within 24 hours and did not fix the problems despite promising to do so early in the process. On a side note they also use deceptive marketing practices by displaying a price on the website but then when you arrive, they tell you that you need to qualify for 4 different discounts to get that price.
