Buyers Beware!! - Dealer not reporting Hail damage on titles!
by Mike on 05/04/2025This dealership had falsely advertised a vehicle as a higher trim model, which is an average of $3,000 difference in pricing based on other local dealerships. On top of that there was a major storm the night before and hail damage had… occurred to most of the vehicles on the lot. They offered to take $750 off the price and said there were 10-15 dings in the hood of the car. We showed up and immediately saw there were 50+ dings in the hood, almost the same on the roof, and some on the pillars/panels above the doors. This car would have been totaled by an insurance agent. We called them out, saying that the car should be priced much lower because the resale value will be tanked after the title/VIN search reports Hail damage and they admitted to our face "Well, that is only if we claim it on our insurance" which means they are not going to report the hail damage if they can just rip people off and sell the vehicles with a tiny $750-1000 "discount" Check this dealer out on BBB.com - they have 12 complaints open and only 1 resolved, as well has horrible reviews. This is the definition of a scam dealership, I hope this saves someone from the heartache of this place.Great service. Easy Negotiations.

Kim Herring the sales consultant and Richard White the tech specialist are the best… . Folks I tell you this was the simplest easiest automobile purchase ever . by DustinB on 04/06/2024I purchased a 1996 F-250 from Herlong Ford in Edgefield SC for about $12,000. I live in Virginia so I bought this truck sight unseen. According to the NADA, this price would mean the truck is in good, approaching excellent condition. It is… not, this truck is in fair condition at best, Had I been there in person I would not have paid more than $8,000 for this truck. The sales person and customer service manager were super helpful, right up until the truck was delivered. Immediately upon delivery I noticed the truck had no backseat, someone had replaced the backseat with a big speaker box which was not shown in any of the pictures in the listing. I had specifically mentioned to the sales person on the phone I needed something with a backseat because I was planning to use this for family camping trips and such. I also immediately noticed the windshield wipers were completely worn out and the tires had less than 50% life left on them. I immediately tried to call the sales person but it took several days to get ahold of someone. After a week of arguing with them they agreed to send me a $200 check to help cover the costs of a new seat. It was better than nothing, but not near enough to cover the costs. Then, when I took the truck for the state safety inspection, it failed due to a brake light out, the reverse lights not working (at all) and the front brakes worn to the point of needing replacement. So, after paying 12 grand for a truck I can’t even legally drive in my state, this dealership tells me I’m on my own to fix it because I bought it “as is”. When buying an “as is” vehicle online, I had the understanding that it would at least be fully functional, especially for the price I paid. I only drove the truck twice since I got it, and they told me all those issues could have happened since it left there which is a ridiculous assertation. Especially when they claim they did a thorough inspection on it before they sold it. They seem helpful until they get your money, then you're completely on your own. Especially if you live out of state since they figure there is nothing you can do about them cheating you out of your hard earned money. The only reason they get 1 star is because zero stars is not an option.General Manager

by Dave on 07/14/2021I would like to put out a fair warning to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle from Herlong Ford in Edgefield, (775 Augusta Road), South Carolina. I was in the market for a used Ford Raptor with the 6.2L V8 motor and I did my due diligence… over several months in locating what I thought was the right vehicle. I found what appeared to be the right truck at Herlong Ford in Edgefield South Carolina. I called and asked about the truck and they said it was still on the lot and that they pride themselves on the inspections they do on their used vehicles when they arrive on the lot. I was insured the vehicle was in great shape. I drove two hours from my home to the dealership to see the vehicle and it appeared to be in great shape. The truck was priced a little above market value, roughly 2k above. I felt it was worth it based on the low mileage and condition of the truck. I purchased the truck for 47k cash and began my drive home. About 1 hour into my drive home I opened the sunroof in the truck and it made an incredible grinding and popping sound and would not close back. I manually forced the sunroof back to the closed position. If this truck had a thorough inspection by the dealership like I was led to believe, this would have been easily discovered. If it had been revealed to me that the sunroof was defective I would not have paid the price I did for the vehicle. I would still have bought the vehicle, I would have just paid less for it and had the repairs done myself. I contacted the dealership about the sunroof issue. After several days I was contacted and asked to return the truck to dealership so they could access the sunroof. In the mean time we had several heavy rainstorms and the sunroof leaked and drenched the interior of the truck. I travel with my work and could not find time in my schedule to make the two hour drive back to the dealership. Plus they are not open on the weekends. I asked if they could authorize a local Ford dealer to access the sunroof and do the repairs. After much back and forth the leadership at Herlong agreed for me to take it to a local Ford dealer in Summerville South Carolina. The local dealer wrote up the report which stated the sunroof frame needed to be replaced due to several broken pieces in the rails. They charged me $177.00 to tell me what I already knew. The total fees for the sunroof repair were roughly 3k. The Herlong Ford dealership asked me to pay half of the cost. I was not willing to pick up the cost of the repair because I had already paid above market price on the truck. As I have mentioned, if I the dealership had revealed to me the status of the sunroof when I was looking to purchase, I would have asked them to reduce the price and I would have had it repaired. To top it all off, Herlong Ford would not reimburse me for the diagnosis of the sunroof by Summerville Ford that they had authorized. Sometimes you need to do the right thing and make things right with your customers. I am frankly tired of dealing with a dealership and this experience has proven to me that they care nothing about the customer once they get your money. I will say that the young lady who sold me the vehicle did her best to work with me however the senior leadership was not interested in making this unfortunate situation right. So a fair warning to anyone in the Edgefield or the surrounding area, you can roll the dice and see what happens or find a truly reputable dealer to do business with. I can assure you Herlong Ford is not the one you’re looking for. This was a costly lesson learned.In and Out with a great deal

I was searching for a particular vehicle that I wanted and searched… across the entire country to find it. I found the vehicle I wanted at Herlong Ford in which they’re located 2,800 miles away from me, and their service has been spectacular from the start. To begin with, since they’re located far away, they did an excellent job with detailed description about the vehicle and great photos so I knew exactly what I was buying. When I called to ask about the availability, Wayne, the sales person gathered EVERYTHING that I have requested about the vehicle. Usually when I request about the vehicle, there’s usually one or two things that would go wrong, but not with Wayne. He knew that I was very particular of how I would like to get every detail about the vehicle as he knew that I would be buying unseen. He even did Facetime with me to do a walk through and he would do a test drive of the vehicle so I would know everything about the vehicle. Then, he outlined the entire process to me and whenever I had any questions, he would be very responsive and would get back to me right away. I was very concerned buying a vehicle 2,800 miles away unseen, but working with Wayne and his team made that concern go away. I can’t thank enough for having Wayne as my salesperson as I really appreciate everything he did to make this the best purchasing experience!Great experience, Awesome team

by Rod Allman on 05/28/2020First time I ever bought a vehicle online (might be the last). When vehicle was delivered to me it had 2k more miles than was advertised. Dealer would not reduce price or compensate in any way! I feel that I was falsely informed.
