Fantastic Salesman
by Camella on 08/25/2017We worked with Greg B, and could not be happier. We were not ready to purchase at first, but did know we wanted something in the future. That day finally come, and because of Greg's attention to detail from our conversations, he had a… selection of our car right at the door. It was the easiest car experience we ever had. Best salesmanship, great detail, go to Greg.Shady Dinosaur Sales Tactics
by Ricky503 on 03/30/2016My wife and daughter went to Withnell Hyundai to find an affordable used car and what they found were unprofessional salesman that try to take advantage of "easy targets". This is super shady and something that was likely the industry norm… decades ago, but times have changed and nobody should feel intimidated and like they are being taken advantage of because they don't know everything about car buying. Will never shop here again!Rip Off!
by mjf503 on 02/21/2015Part of this is my fault for jumping into buying a car without doing my research. I had saved a considerable amount of money and went in to buy a new Sonata. I told them what I wanted and they told me the price. I did not negotiate at all… which was my mistake. I later found out they made over 7k profit on me and did NOT include any rebates or incentives I qualified for AND going off of MSRP not INVOICE which they should of. The biggest thing that upset me is when I tried to trade it back into them and they gave me an absurdly low price claiming that my vehicle had diminished in value 15 thousand dollars in a little over a year. Such BS! They were not at all helpful and cared little to do with me which was not the case when they knew they were making a considerable profit off me. As a buyer always do your research and do not go to a dealership that will not inform you of what discounts they are entitled to.Upfront on everything
by etshopper on 09/21/2010My quote request was handled by Crystal Asman. I was looking for a car with particular colors and options. After my confirmation about colors and options I want, she gave me the price for the car, DMV/paperwork fees and copy of car's… printout for color/options verification. The biggest surprise was VERY GOOD price from the start with all discounts already applied. I had questions about the color of the car and she helped me to find additional information about the color (and requested for me a video of the car in this color). I still was unsure about the color, and she gave me additional quote for a car with another color (car was need to be ordered). The price was even lower compare to a quote from another dealership which already had a car in such color/options on the lot. I wasted my time communicating with several other dealerships. After long negotiation, one dealership quoted me price about $200 lower, but when I asked for confirmation of existence of such car (color/options/VIN) - the deal went south. Another one was playing "car dealers games" just to make me to visit dealership. Etc, etc, etc.... So, I decided to buy the car from Crystal - it just was much easier. She did not make unrealistic promises. We agreed on the price over e-mail. Unfortunately, Crystal had day off the day I set for buying the car and I could not move it to another day. But it was no problem at all. Crystal referred me to Scott, who helped to handle and finish this transaction for her. Internet quote price was honored without questions and I was out of the dealership with the car in about 3 hours (including test-drive). It was easy, convenient and hassle-free. This dealership is pretty far from me, but it was worth of traveling. Note: If you already know what you want (model, color, options) - Internet is the way to go. Do your "homework" to get an idea what price range you can realistically expect. If you picky about car's color - visit dealership. Colors have slightly different appearance on real car compare to pictures on Internet and in brochures. Check important Sale and DMV paperwork by yourself. Dealer handles paperwork, but YOU are responsible for accuracy of submitted information. And, as you know, financing is the separate matter (sale person has nothing to do with it - your credit score does).Honest no pressure sale prices - Internet sale dept. rocks
by snesar on 07/02/2009I cut thru the chase & called the Internet Sales Manager Crystal Asman. She was very honest right from the beginning, she found the vehicle I was looking for (different dealer), got it at Withnell where I bought it from. No hassle and… bargain, bottom line price right from the start. I was offered so good price that I didnt have to bargain at all. Financing process went smooth, the car was ready in the condition as a new one should be. I'm happy with the experience and will recommend Withnell (specially Crystal) to anyone who knows what they are looking for and want to avoid the whole dealer customer drama. I havnt used service dept., but they seemed very professional.buy through the internet manager
by jacksonmary on 10/27/2008I bought my car throug the internet department, the internet manager Crystal Asman helped me, she answered all my questions through the e-mai land gave me a price quote on the first e-mail when I got to the dealership all I had to do is… sighn papers and I left with in 30mins of being there, she even offered to deliver my car, this was the best buying experince I have ever hadWish I went to Dick Hannah
by blaseandwendy on 07/25/2012updated 05/28/2025My husband and I were not looking to buy a new car just yet, but when Dan the salesman greeted us, I took a liking to him. He was super funny, enjoyable and I leaned more maybe buying. As we dealt with Mike, his supervisor, he was also fun,… and enjoyed his attitude. We decided to purchase the new car, and when we went to conclude the deal with Bill the finance person, all customer service went sour. He would not take no for an answer, would not listen to my concerns nor even explained out contract, I wanted to leave and forget the deal, and got up twice to leave, I started to get mad, and I should have just walked out, but I felt bad for Dan, and went ahead and signed the deal even though I was feeling terrible about it all. I would not go back to this dealership and next time will look elsewhere. I know I will not buy our next Dodge Ram Truck from them, will go somewhere else. I feel saddened that the salesman does great, but when it leaves his hands to someone else, that customer service is no longer A+ and can harm the sale. Withnell Hyundai were great about filling up the tank, washing the car and I cant say enough good about Dan, he was wonderful, but the bad experience with Bill Howard turned all that positive into a negative.Whitnell bummer
by fishhead4 on 06/24/2011updated 05/28/2025Please be careful if you choose to use this dealer. They did an internet bait and switch on me after i drove 2 hours to an appointment i had to buy a car that had been qouted over the internet. They refused to honor the quote and left me no… altrernative but to go somewhere else. If you go somewhere else, and i highly recommend you do, Sheppard Motors of Eugene more than made up for the terrible service at Whitnell and i would definitely would return there. These folks were courteous and more than fair and not pushy in their negtioations at all. A very good dealer...Service Over and Above The Norm
by savinglady on 06/22/2011updated 05/28/2025I originally wanted a Kia Sportage but no dealer would negotiate on the car I wanted. After all there were only 2 in the entire Pacific Northwest. Since the Hyundai Tuscon was almost the same automobile, I switched gears. Of all the Hyundai… dealers I contacted either by email, phone or in person, only Withnell came in with the price I was willing to pay. I bought the car sight unseen and when I arrived to pick up the car, the color wasn't as I had imagined so I thought we had no deal. Frank Hellhake, who handles Internet sales, told me to just hold on while he went through the lot to see what other colors they had. As it turned out, they had a Tuscon that didn't even show in inventory that was the color I would have chosen if I thought I had had a choice. I couldn't have been happier. It turned out to be exactly the car I dreamed of owning. It was a real pleasure dealing with the people at Withnell. No high pressure sales tactics, no haggling, they gave me exactly what I wanted. I went out of my way (from Portland to Salem or 40 miles) to do business with them, and they went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied. If every car-buying experience was like this, I'd buy a car every day.Run, do NOT Walk to purchase a Hyundai from Withnell
by nezpro on 02/01/2011updated 05/28/2025OK, here is my second entry. I just spent the last hour writing a review of my auto purchasing experience at Withnell only to have it disappear into the internet ethers. Argh..... You gotta really love your experience to want to write a… new entry after losing an hours worth of composition...you know how long it has been since I was in an English Composition Class?? I started my search for a new 2011 Hyundai Elantra with an on-line inquiry at a popular web site. I specifically asked that I only be contacted via email with responses to the inquiry. A lot of good that did. Within 30 minutes my phone began ringing off the hook (well not really since it is a cell phone). I ignored the calls and waited for the emails to ensue. They finally did but instead of offers I was barraged with a host of emails asking more questions, suggesting I come in and test drive the vehicle. I was very specific in my initial request. I wanted a 2011 Elantra Limited, Sterling Silver, gray and black interior with the Performance Package. I had done my homework on the Hyundai website so knew exactly what equipment was offered for what package. I did receive "offers" from three local (Portland) dealers. Two were of the garden variety and were non-specific about the price and the vehicle being quoted. I did receive on "hard" offer that was pretty much MSRP but no promise of the vehicle I wanted being in stock. Now mind you I have owned three Hyundai's previously. I purchased all three from Withnell Hyundai. I have owned a 2000 Accent, 2002 Elantra and a 2004 Elantra. I purchased all of them new from the same dealer. While my purchasing experience varied greatly I was always extremely impressed with the service that was offered by the dealership. I live in Portland and work in Salem so I decided to go ahead and contact Crystal Asman at Withnell Hyundai in Salem. I had communicated with Crystal last year when I was considering purchasing a 2010 Elantra (glad I waited ;-). I found her to be both honest and forthright in providing solid quotes on new cars. I emailed Crystal and within less than 24 hours she had provided me with both a solid price quote and a copy of the invoice of the car I was searching for. The vehicle was the exact color and package that I was looking for. More surprisingly, the price Crystal quoted me was only $100 more than the lowest price suggested by Consumer Reports. Yes, I had done my homework well. I immediately planned a trip to Salem to see if the price was too good to be true. To my amazement Crystals price quote was as good as gold. Here is the sequence of events: I arrived at the dealership at 9:45. Before I got out of my car the new Elantra was taken from the line and parked next to me while the engine warmed up. The sales manager knew I was coming in and was prepared to not only show me the vehicle but had already anticipated my wanting to take it for a test drive. I took the car out for a test drive (alone) and returned. Crystal met me and we discussed details. I had decided to trade in my 2007 Prius so we began negotiating a price. The original price they quoted was about $700 lower than what I wanted so I left the lot to do some hard thinking. I returned about 15 minutes later and made a counter offer. Crystal went to bat for me and convinced her sales manager that the deal was worth going for. She showed respect for me as a person as well as a returning customer who deserved to be treated fairly in order to win back my allegiance. Needless to say, by 11:45 I was driving away in my new Elantra and was one happy camper. Great service, honest dealings, no pressure from a litany of sales merchants marching into the room to break me of my will so they could have their way with me, what else could I ask for? Indeed, the car purchasing experience at Withnell's was both painless and enjoyable. No it was better than that it was actually enjoyable. Crystals service was exceptional as was my dealings with both the sales manager and the business manager. You could not ask for a more simplified and honest car buying experience. So now the proof will be in the service that I receive from the dealership. I have always received excellent service from Withnell and hopefully that has not changed. Unlike taking my Toyota in for service where I would sometimes wait for an hour to get a ride back to work, the folks at Withnell would call a cab to drive me to work immediately. I wonder what the folks at Toyota would do if I showed up an hour late for my service appointment? So the bottom line is RUN, dont walk to Withnell Hyundai if you are considering purchasing a new car. More importantly, do your homework and then send an email to Crystal to ask for a price quote. I guarantee that you will receive an honest and accurate quote that you can count on when you arrive at the dealership. My wife and I love our new Elantra, we love the treatment we received via the internet and when on-site at the dealership. I have never had a better car buying experience in all the years I have purchased vehicles. I will definitely be a return customer if I decide to purchase a new Hyundai in the future. Stay tuned, I will be leaving a review of the service department after my first experience. I expect it to be a positive and glowing experience. Happy car purchasing. I hope your experience is half as good as mine. Thank you Crystal for your service and your honesty.2013 Veloster Purchase
by soyeah on 08/17/2013updated 05/28/2025Such a comfortable, welcoming dealership. I highly recommend Sarah S. as a salesperson extraordinaire. She is honest, funny, and genuine. No pressure and very relaxed atmosphere in general. Plenty of smiles all around. Withnell Hyundai… beats every other Salem dealership and I've bought from all of them.Thank you for purchasing your new Hyundai Veloster from Withnell Hyundai and Sarah. She is an outstanding salesperson and is wonderful with her customers. Thank you and enjoy your new Veloster!
Absolutely The Best!
by alan86 on 08/02/2011updated 05/28/2025Before going to Withnell Hyundai in Salem, my car-buying experiences had never been better than tolerable, and some were awful. So, I guess I was due for a very easy, even pleasant transaction from start to finish! Crystal Asman was my… first contact with Withnell. My son and I had already shopped and made our decision to buy the 2012 Accent sedan. She confirmed what we wanted and went to work to find it. Even though it is difficult to find a manual transmission with the comfort package, she located the perfect one (Ultra Black). All this was done via email. When we picked up the car, most of the paperwork had already been prepared, so we were out of there in, maybe, 45 minutes. I'm not kidding. It sure is nice to find a dealership that doesn't play any of those typical sales games that everybody hates...and has the very lowest price. Thanks Crystal, Frank and Alli.Buying a New Car Should Always Be This Easy
by nezpro on 01/30/2013updated 05/28/2025I recently purchased my second new Elantra from Withnell Hyundai using their internet sales service. I live in Portland but work in Salem. I have purchased 4 vehicles from this dealer and continue to return due to the excellent customer… service as well as the quality of the vehicles. I can always save money purchasing from Withnell rather than the "so called BIG dealers" in Portland. No contest. Plus, Crystal A. and the entire crew at Withnell did an excellent job. No surprises, price as quoted, and the vehicle was cleaned, filled with gas and ready to leave the lot. The whole deal took less than 2 hours. I highly recommend this dealer to anyone purchasing a new Hyundai. They are top notch and easy to deal with. Most of all they are honest and provide exceptional customer service. Thanks for another great car buying experience.Thank you for your repeat business and your kind comments about our direct sales team. Enjoy your new Hyundai!
Most pleasant car buying experience ever
by catcar4 on 01/05/2013updated 05/28/2025We really wanted to buy local (Salem). I did my homework up front--researched and test drove (out of town) to make the final decision on model although my husband had not yet been on a test drive. Requested online quotes from several… different dealers in the valley. Received a phone call from Rich at Withnell within 10 minutes. He gave me a verbal quote and followed up with a quote via e-mail. While we weren't able to get there that day for my husband to test drive the car, we went the next day. We worked with 2 different salesmen while their customers were out on test drives. Each sent us off on our own to test drive. We never experienced any high pressure. We negotiated with someone else yet. We actually stood in the lobby and wandered around while he checked numbers. We had an agreement within 15 minutes which included finding Rich's quote and going back and forth a couple times until we reached an agreement. They were very pleasant to work with and we would do business with them again.Thank you for your kind words about your car buying experience at Withnell Motor Company and our direct sales team! We appreciate your business and look forward to taking care of you and all your automotive needs. Thanks again, Withnell Motor Company
