  • Car returned in worse condition than when I brought it in

I bought a brand new Venza last Sept. I have taken it in to Fred Anderson Toyota twice now for regular service checkups. BOTH times, the brand new running board, dashboard, interior and doors were covered in grease! This is a light-colored interior so grease and marks are very visible. I'm astonished that my car has incurred more wear and tear and damage at the DEALERSHIP! My dashboard also had a tear in it when I got it back so now they have to order a new part. I'm afraid to even take the car in for the repair--god knows what else will be damaged! What are these technicians DOING? I really hate to bring my car back there but I have free maintenance. The manager did a great job of answering the complaint, but since I expressly requested that they make sure not to leave grease and other marks this time, I'm not sure I can trust that any future service won't produce the same result, or worse. I would urge you to consider this if you're buying a car there. There's no excuse for a dealership returning someone's car in worse condition than when it was brought in--particularly a NEW car! Fred Anderson Toyota has obviously gotten too big for its britches with a huge new facility and has forgotten about the number one reason to be there in the first place--its customers.

I bought my highlander from Fred Anderson after putting in several internet quotes to other Toyota dealerships and going to 3. Do not bother going to a dealership without quotes from other dealers, which you can get online. Pick 2 dealerships that you feel are where you want to buy the car (for me Leith and Fred Anderson.) Figure out your options on Edmunds. New 2011 2WD Limited with tow package, JBL Speakers, and car mats. Edmunds average price $33,775. Now, use other dealerships over the internet to get better quotes. I used Toyota of Goldsboro and Hubert Vester of Wilson to get the price down. When I first talked to Fred Anderson the price was $35,000. After going from dealership to dealership I got the price down to $33,000. Fred Anderson was great to work with. For financing also use the internet to get bank quotes, so that when you go into the dealership they will come down.

I was treated wonderfully and after the vehicle was located and brought in, everything was accurate. Couldn't be happier.

  • They worked with me but deceived me during financing

I decided to look into a 2012 Corolla type S with moon roof. I did my homework and checked all the reviews for the car and got quotes from everywhere I could. I visited Fred Anderson Toyota (FAT) and got to the point upfront. I told them that I expected to pay so much for it (taking an average from what others paid; check TrueCar for an estimate and go at least $500 lower). The sales person was perceptive and took the numbers I presented back to his manager (or whomever) and came back and told me that my price was too low. I was done with them at that second. The sales person came back and matched the price. (Caveat: the quote that Fred Anderson matched was reasonable - don't go with offers $6k lower than MSRP, it won't happen!) Anyhow, I shopped around some more and got an even lower price from Hendrick Toyota. I liked the new ($200) lower price but HT was too far away and they did not have the car in the lot; it would have taken 4 days to bring in and I was in need for it ASAP. I took my new quote back to F-A-T and they matched it. This was the best part about F-A-T: price matching (but no beating). The Bad: When working with the financing, FAT was quoting me higher than desired interest rates. I expected 2.9% and they were quoting me at 3.75%. I expressed that I would finance the purchase using my bank. They came back with "special" Toyota financing of 0.9% but took away the $750 dealer cash that I doggedly fought for. My main complaint is that they "work" with you to arrive at a final price but take away from you during the financing process claiming that "that is how the incentives work." I ended up getting the car simply because I expected to finance at 2.9% but ended up with a 0.9% rate. This decreased my monthly payments by $2 and I felt okay with it. However, I did not appreciate that they took away the Toyota dealer cash claiming that that was the only way I would get the 0.9% financing. I did not believe that it was an honest move. I would only recommend this dealer if you were buying your car cash. Otherwise, financing through them (Toyota) will cost you at least $750.
  • False Advertising/Dishonest Practices

False Advertising. Unwilling to make it right. I found a 2012 Hyundai Sonata "Limited" on their website. The car listed everything I wanted/needed and the asking price was good. I asked for more info from their "Get Your VIP Price" option on their website. I got a call back from a woman first. I explained that I lived almost 300 miles away and had to make sure the car was as described. We went down the list and she confirmed it had everything listed (leather seats was my biggest "need" since I have a severely autistic 12 yr old son still in diapers that likes to take frequent rides. His diaper doesn't always hold everything and cloth seats simply won't work). She confirmed it had leather seats. She then said she would have the salesman (Len) call me back. I got a call from Len who also confirmed that it was a "Limited" and that it had everything the website listed. He also personally walked the car for me. I told both the girl that called me and Len that I had to know for sure the car was as described because I did not want to drive 300 miles and have surprises when I got there. I made this VERY clear. They both confirmed everything was correct. So, I drive from Greenville, SC to Raleigh, NC to buy the car. I get there an NO LEATHER seats. An apologetic Len speaks to his manager who says they will add the heated leather seats and they would "eat it" (the cost) since it was their mistake. He then proceeds to tell me I'll have to pay full asking price if I want the leather seats or they'll knock $1600 off the asking price if I take the car as is with cloth seats. How exactly are they "eating" the cost if I have to pay $1600 more to have the leather installed? They're not "eating" ANYTHING. I told them that they should add the leather and heated (at their own cost) the way their website and two of their own employees had told me it had and then we could negotiate the price from there. They said they wouldn't be able to do that. So I drove 300 miles home (getting home at 12:30am). I then got an email the next day asking about my experience. I told them everything I'm saying here and the woman (Anna B) responded with an apology and said she was going to forward my experience to the "management team". I waited 2 business days thinking someone from management would call or email me to discuss. NOTHING. Clearly they could care less. I would not be writing this review had I lived locally, but to drive that far after being told by the website description and TWO of their own employees that the car was as described is simply frustrating beyond imagine.

I called Fred Anderson yesterday morning to tell them that I was coming to see a specific van that I had seen on their website. I got there around 4 pm and the salesperson immediately pushed us into the office to fill out paperwork. We were very uncomfortable. Finally after we were approved for a loan, he brought out the van. It was dirty, stickered, rear hatch was dented, back of driver's seat had fallen off, the seats were sticky, and fingerprints coated the inside of the windows. Salesperson assured me the van would be in top notch condition tomorrow if I decided to buy it today. They lowballed me on my trade--we're talking $250 for a van that KBB gave a $1100 trade in value. Then they insulted me with a high 5% interest rate (I have excellent credit) and refused to budge to the KBB value of the van we were looking at. Don't even get me started on all the fees and junk they piled on at the end. The salesperson was very unknowledgeable and the "closer" was just rude and insulting. No deal for Fred Anderson.

  • So Easy and Great Deals

I had been car shopping for awhile and had decided on the Prius C, but the price at the other dealers were crazy and they wouldn't budge on price. I searched online and saw the price I wanted for the exact car I wanted at Fred Anderson Toyota. I called and they confirmed the price over the phone. I came in later that night and everything was ready. There was no hassles and no changes to what was promised on the phone. Larry, Ramin, and Calvin were great and even stayed late to make sure the deal went through. It was a truly pleasurable experience for car shopping.
