Waste of my time
by Brendan on 03/28/2023I inquired about their inventory through a third party (cars.com, Edmonds). A salesman, Roevelle, got back with me a couple of days later and said he would work up a quote on a Kia Sportage EX hybrid and get back with me that day. Two days… later, I contacted him to see where we were and he understood that I live in NC, and if a deal was made, it would be a couple of days before I could pick up the vehicle. We worked out a deal and I let them know I would schedule a flight to pick up the vehicle and I put down a 1K deposit. After the deposit was secured, Roevelle informed me that they would hold the vehicle and then his superior, Robert McIlwain got on the phone and said he would check to see if they could hold the vehicle two days, TWO DAYS, and call me back ASAP. Three days pass with no contact, and they finally call me to see if I’m picking up the car. I told them I hadn’t heard from them and wasn’t going to book a flight if they weren’t going to hold the vehicle I had put a deposit on. Got a call from Robert the next day leaving me a message asking me to call him back, thought he had hung up the phone, but hadn’t, and I heard him telling someone that they had sold my vehicle out from under me and were going to try and push me to purchase a different color of the same vehicle. When I returned the call at least he was honest that they had sold my car, but no apology, didn’t even try and cover it up. Apparently it’s standard practice at Plaza. Took me over ten days, multiple phone calls and I had to go through the GM to get my deposit back, letting him know I had the recorded info about my vehicle being sold out from under me. Meanwhile, I worked a deal with another dealership for the same vehicle with a few small extra options included for $3500 less. THANKS PLAZA!!sucks they are the only Kia in BK
by sxdsx2017 on 03/07/2019leased a 2017 Sorento from them (had a 2015), the cars themselves are great but between the sales staff and service dept, i wouldn't recommend anyone go to these [non-permissible content removed] unless you want to suffer and waste time.… travel further to another dealership. sales, floor mgr,. everyone will promise you everything then change it upBait and Switch
by pb2home on 03/13/2018This sales staff looks and acts just like all the stereotypes of smarmy car salesmen that you've ever heard. They offered me a lease with specific time and mileage terms. Turns out, they changed the conditions before they finalized the… papers submitted to hyundai financing. They added another year to the agreement and lowered the mileage threshold by 5,000 miles. Needless to say, I have found a way out of that lease and would advise anyone who wants/needs to purchase to run, don't walk to any other dealership in the area. No dealership could possibly be more deceptive and ureliable as the staff of this dealership.[non-permissible content removed].. Avoid at all costs
by DhavalS on 11/08/2017Bring a lawyer with you when you deal with these guys or do yourself a favor and just go to another dealership. If you hate yourself enough to decide to go to this dealership stay away from Damon Jones and Claudio Perez (specially Damon… Jones) - I havent met anyone as unethical as these guys ever in my life. I would have given a 1-star rating just based on my experience with them before we signed the paperwork - made us wait for hours for an appointment which I had confirmed over phone a gazillion times, tried changing numbers on us several times AFTER we had an agreement (including charging an extra destination fee which was already included in the sales price which we had agreed on and bank fees which we had agreed dealership will be paying), tried to intimidate us into accepting the higher numbers (including yelling at us!) and double charged us for sales tax and DMV fees promising a refund of the overpaid amount. BUT what happened AFTER the contract was signed was a thousand times worse. Almost a month and a half later Damon Jones called us informing us that Kia rejected the lease contract and we need to re-sign paperwork. Kias problem with the lease was really that we had paid too much downpayment resulting in negative depreciation (which they could not accept). Incompetence from the dealership aside (how can they not catch the negative depreciation while preparing the paperwork!), Damon tried to increase the previously agreed (and signed!) upon sales price of the vehicle touting that was the only way to resolve this issue. Things went downhill from there pretty quickly. The dealership resorted to outright lying (cant print out a copy of the contract as they have moved to an all electronic system in spite of legally obligated to provide a copy and then being able to print out a copy a few days later, new lease with a higher sales price is actually a more favorable lease to me, refunds are only processed once a week on Fridays but after an attorney general complaint were able to issue the refund on Monday and many many more), threatening to repossess the car and/or report it stolen in spite of me paying such a big downpayment that Kia rejected it indicating that I need to reduce my downpayment, refusing to issue a refund of overpaid amounts and being flippant about everything to confuse us so we would agree to a less favorable contract (including barely readable one line replies, not answering questions asked on why sales price need to be higher or extra fees need to be added and so on). I filed a complaint with Kia hoping the manufacturer will help resolve this but Kias helpline was practically useless - no real action and/or follow up on the issue till date and all requests to get into contact with the regional sales manager were ignored while the dealership was harassing us. Damon refused to get his General Manager into the conversation (obviously!). I had to file a complaint with the BBB and the NY Attorney Generals office to have these guys get back to their senses. The Attorney General complaint is what I think really made the difference here. I was less than 24 hours away from filing a lawsuit for fraud (after more than a month of going back and forth!) against the dealership - thats how far they took it (and I had all laws broken and lies spoken on record to use against them in court). Please do yourself a favor and avoid this dealership. They will do anything and everything they can to scam you and not just before buying the car but also after. And this is not a one off case - read https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/ag-schneiderman-announces-settlements-four-auto-dealer-groups-deceptive-practices for more details. We are terribly sorry to hear about the negative impression you got during your visit to our dealership. Our top priority is 100% customer satisfaction, and the experience you described is not our team's standard quality of service. Plaza Kia has gone through a complete and total management change recently and we can guarantee you that with Jim Forgione and Phil Esposito running things, something like this will never happen again. On behalf of our dealership, we would like to sincerely apologize for any wrong-doings you experienced.
Come down for what?
by oranges65 on 04/04/2017I was looking for a specific car. A 2016 Kia Rio no power windows. I wanted to save the $1000 it cost for them. Anyway I see one online, what I wanted, a complete VIN, I inquire about it on eduments I get a quote on the car. I email me… them but never get an email back. I came in anyway. I come in, I said I want a 2016 rio, the guy at the podium says, we don't have a Kia Rio, only Tortes. You want a Forte so I leave. I decide to see it online again. I see the car I want, I fill out their form inquiring if they have one. I get a phone call, they say they have it when can I come in? I said are you sure. They check, they have it. I said I was there yesterday. So now I am very specific, 2016 Rio, no poker package. The salesperson calls back a few minutes later, we have four of them, when can you come in? I said Thursday at 11. She says ok ask for me at the desk. Then she sends me a confirmation email. I come when I was expected. The person who phoned me wasn't there. I came in as expected at 11, the person I phoned says she isn't in under noon. I see someone else, they tell me after a while they have only one 2016 Rio, it has the power package. I didn't stay much longer. If you know you don';t have what I want tell me. Don't make me come in and then tell me, especially after I had been there before. I didn't feel any pressure to buy, We never got that far b/c they made me come in for a car they didn't have. But come on, they didn't have a car, I had to take the subway there, that is why I needed a car and they knew it b.c of the first story) Then late in the day, I'[m back home, the salesperson who wasn't ther calls again. Says she doesn't come in to 12 on Thursdays and to come again. I'm not foolish enough to take a third 2 hr train trip to brooklyn. I suppose the moral of the story is, they will tell you anything to get you to come in, but what they say on the phone means nothing.BEWARE - PLAZA KIA ALLOWS DEALERSHIPS TO FORGE CONTRACTS
by customer55 on 11/02/2016updated 11/07/2016BEWARE!!! Plaza Kia is involved in fraudulent activity and forges contracts. In May 2015, I cosigned a lease for my sister and she was able to leave with the car (2016 Kia Sorento) that day. 3-4 months later my sister was contacted by Plaza… Kia's finance managers, Thomas Brescia and Stephanie Gamba. She was not called in to sign any contracts but instead was asked to make a payment to the dealership, despite having already made 2 payments to Kia Motor Finance (leasing company). My sister contacted Kia Motor Finance to discuss if she should be making additional payments to Plaza Kia dealership and was advised that her financial obligation is to Kia Motor Finance once the lease was signed. My sister notified Stephanie Gamba of this and was never called/threatened for payment again. In July 2016, my sister called Kia Motor Finance to get details on the contract and end date for lease. The representative asked if she signed several contracts because the contract that she was referring to was not accepted by Kia Motor Finance. The representative informed her that Plaza Kia dealership had to generate a new contract which they received and was accepted on July 3, 2015 with signed signatures from both my sister and I, dated for May 31st, 2015. On May 31st, 2015, sister was not in NY! She and her husband left NY on the night of 5/30/15 via the new Kia Sorrento to Georgia, as they had to be in Georgia to sign their lease for their new home which was done on 6/1/15. My sister immediately requested a copy of this new contract that we were not aware of nor did we sign. My sister received the forged contract and noted some changes in the agreement. My sister called Plaza Kia dealership and spoke with Julio Guina and was informed they knew her well and accused her of trying to bring the vehicle back many times within the year and having her boyfriend's mom co-sign the car. My sister informed them that they had the wrong person and pointed out that she moved out of NY in June 2015. It was apparent that no resolution would come from directly trying to work things out with Plaza Kia dealership. Therefore, we decided to retain a lawyer to work out a resolution with Plaza Kia dealership. As of 10/14/2016, we were informed by our lawyer that Plaza Kia dealership is refusing to take the vehicle back nor take responsibility for committing fraud. We are appalled and hope that no one else has to go through this!Go here for your Kia
by MelvHoo on 12/28/2015Very pleasant experience dealing with everyone. Up front people worked out the lease deal on a 2016 Kia Sorento.. Dealt with Claudio on-site to sign paperwork, insurance and everything else. He made sure I knew everything about the… vehicle prior to me leaving the dealership - he is clearly the Kia product knowledge guy there. Julian, who reviewed the lease and financing terms was brief, no-nonsense and to the point. The dealership is about 45 minutes from my home so not necessarily convenient but I will return when the Kia lease is up and deal with them again. The managers are also worth a mention, Julio and Stephanie, since they orchestrated everything to run smooth and they seem to operate a very honest business. I wasn't the only customer they were tending to, but they made sure I felt like I was and I appreciated that. Felt very "in the loop" throughout the whole process.. Very happy with my purchase here and will be recommending anyone I know to go see the people at Plaza Kia!SOME COOL PEEPS!
by UncleJessie on 12/14/2015HEY PLAZA PEOPLE. I'm glad I chose you guys. Super happy with my new Optima and even happier with the service. I myself deal with crazy customers all day, so I know I'm a nut bag myself and I had a ton of demands and a steel wall for you… guys to knock through to get the deal but you didn't give up on me. My salesman Marvin must have called me over 25 times over the course of my shopping and never made me feel obligated. The managers are equally cool and very ready and willing to help. I would say this is a great place to shop or buy. Will be back with its time to trade old girl in. Thanks crew!I love my new car
by Kiz4kidz on 09/21/2015updated 11/05/2015Came to the dealership looking for a nice little car and Marvin help me out a great deal everybody was very nice thank you Marvin and I will be back next year for a car for my daughtergreat people at plaza kia
by StellaLuna on 10/09/2015buy your next car here. they may be the last ones left that don't lie to get you to buy. they are truthful and will genuinely help you. I worked with matt and Julio, but the entire staff seemed wonderful.Plaza Kia FAN
by HeckieBeck87 on 07/16/2015I'm a big fan of Plaza to begin with, but their Kia store is clearly the gem of the auto mall. The staff they have is very warm and inviting. I dealt with Stephanie. She is the manager there. She worked one on one with me and took all of… my concerns into account when working out the numbers. I shopped other dealerships and didn't tell her the pricing I received. We went back and forth and ultimately, they beat the numbers I received elsewhere. I initially told them that I would not be buying same day (even though I did), and they still treated me with the same respect and concern. Other places usually try to throw you out as nicely as possible once u tell them that. I'm very happy with Plaza Kia and even though I wasn't nuts about the idea of turning in my Acura for a Kia, I'm happy to say that I'm very pleased with the vehicle and its features, I'm surprised how well it drives and I'm mostly excited about my bill being about $100 cheaper a month than what I was paying for half the features in my old car. Go to Plaza Kia - see Stephanie, Julio, Tom and Claudio.Great customer service
by NeeNee74 on 07/15/2015I'm a fan of great customer service. I like when a representative takes a moment to hear my needs and then figures a way to make things work. The sophisticated look of Kia Plaza Automall was very upscale and pleasant to shop for a car. The… sales rep Marvin Smith was excellent. He showed me the cars and their features. He explained what the car could do for me based on my needs. He worked quickly and efficiently. The other reps were very nice as well because while I was waiting they made sure I was ok. The environment made me very comfortable in selecting a Kia. Just for the friendly environment even if you're not a Kia fan you will become one after meeting with this rep. I thank you for the pleasant experience and I look forward to working with Kia Plaza Automall again when my lease is up!!! Thanks👍🏽
