  • Read the review from Goldswan, and went the dealership.

5 out of 5 starsby nfdesign on 08/04/2009

Just bought a new Honda Fit. Mark Stocke was very good, as the review had stated. I called and told him I was sending my mom for a new car. He beat the deal we had from three different North Jersey, Essex County area dealers. Also honored the stimulus deal fairly.

  • match or beat quote?

It's what they claimed when I communicated with them through the email, but when I actually went to their showroom, they refused to do it and said the other lower quote was a "hoax." So, I went to the "hoax" dealer and bought my car the same day in March 2009.

  • Madison Honda Sales Experience

1.5 out of 5 starsby rmor on 02/05/2009

My wife and I went to this dealership to test drive a honda. So, we enter the dealership and saw a salesman who asked why we came. We said that we wanted to test drive the car and if everything went well, purchase it the same day. So this salesman asks us to wait and was taking his own sweet time to finish his coffee. He then slowly walks out and takes the car out of the parking lot. He then points a finger at both of us and asks us (in a very unprofessional manner) to come out and take a look at the car. We were pretty annoyed by the way this guy was behaving. During the test drive, the salesman had no clue of the car. At the end of the day, we were pretty upset with our experience. If you expect this kind of customer service in an economy that is pretty bad for car sales, I don't know what to say. I would advise to avoid this dealership.

  • Best dealership ever (I dealt with 5)!

5 out of 5 starsby goldswann on 10/28/2008

I've been searching for about a month now for a 2008 CR-V EX AWD. I've been emailing back and forth between 5 dealerships and Madison Honda is the only dealership that did not give me any BS. I told him what the other dealers had offered me, he contacted me right away and we immediately agreed on a price that was better than the other 4 dealerships had offered. We did all the paperwork ahead of time so by the time I drove to the dealership, I was in an out in less than an hour! I can't recommend them enough...my sales associate was Mark Stocke..he was great!
    • I went to 3 Honda dealers and then Madison Honda after reading this review. I was able to take advantage of the stimulus and Mark gave me a great deal and beat the prices of all the other Essex County dealerships. The review is true. This dealership is great. Thank you to the reviewer who recommended him.

  • Fair deal and very easy to work with

    4.3 out of 5 starsby pappa3 on 08/28/2008

Did my homework on a 2008 Odyssey and shopped around online with various local dealers. The sales person from Madison Honda responded promptly and very specifically on the vehicle we wanted. Other dealers were vague about inventory, options, etc. Completed the whole deal in a couple of phone calls and faxes; no "checking with my manager" or other last minute surprises. Car was perfectly prepped when it was time to pick up, and the salesman spent as much time as we needed to make us comfortable with features and operations.

  • No pressure, good salesman, good price. I'd buy from them again.

4.3 out of 5 starsby kalathia on 10/22/2007

I bought my new Civic LX from there in 2002, and the sales person was very nice and patient. My wife and I test drove the coupe and the sedan with they salesman and he was very patient. Also he didn't go into any kind of sale pitch, just very casual. I came in with all the numbers, so I knew what I was going to pay and what a fair price would be, and they were able to sell it at a good price, just slightly above invoice. I got the 1% financing and the paper work was painless. The car was ready when they promised, with the plates. Overall a very good experience. I'd by my next car there.

  • BEWARE - VERY DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING!! SIMILAR TO BAIT AND SWITCH!!!

BEWARE - Madison Honda advertises a price on the internet called the INTERNET PRICE, the only problem is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to purchase a car for that price. Even the sales person told me, "YES, IT IS A LITTLE DECEPTIVE". It was in fact $3,000 DECEPTIVE! They admitted to me that they did that to get customers to come in. Then you learn the truth about the pricing!!!
  • Shopping Nightmare

November 2011: Before I tell you about my specific experience I'd like to start off by saying, "Thank you," Madison Honda for waking up from a nightmare that allowed me to extend my research to your competition. I was encountered by a very nice salesman here and while I was shopping for a 2012 Pilot. Price wasn't good, however, the bigger issue was the floor manager who tries to emasculate the male customers into using tactics from decades past used by old, corny aluminum siding salesmen. I got the last laugh though. I went down to Rt 22 and bought a 2012 Pilot within 1.5 hours after I left Madison at WELL BELOW the price that Madison Honda would not dare entertain. vrrrrroooom! Honda, the car the sells itself!
  • Positive experience

I was happy with my experience at Madison Honda. Hondas don't sell at a big discount - it helps to do research and my experience was that Madison Honda offered a competitive price below MSRP on a pretty hot product (2013 Accord EX-L with navigation. What I liked a lot. Is they really valued my time. Compared with Autosports Honda in Bridgewater, I found Madison to be more professional and better to deal with.
  • Really???

Too many games...too pushy. Look, I'm not an idiot. I know the offer doesn't go away if I walk out and come back after giving the purchase some though. The back and forth, the offer for the trade in, the pushing to sell off of the lot, and saying they could not meet the price we agreed on if it was a cash sale!!!! The whole experience destroyed my trust in this dealership.
  • Never trust them

Put it simple: try to avoid this dealership if you can. If you want to know in more details, my experience is like the following. I got an email offer from the other dealership. Then they called me and told me that they would beat the offer by " a few hundred dollars". When I got there, the guy who called me went away after saying hello. Another salesman was with me. After seeing the offer, he left (to consult with his manager?). Finally he returned but told me that they could not beat the offer. I asked about the message they left for me. The man told me:"It is not me!"
  • bad business

Joseph Tyson of Madison Honda swindled his way into getting me to put down a deposit on a 2012 Civic Si. After asking him repeatedly if the deposit was refundable, I put down the money. After finding a better deal which they refused to match, the dealership then refused to refund my deposit. From what I understand, none of their deposits are refundable. We were told that in order to get our deposit back, the issue needed to be taken up with our credit card company. On top of all of this hassle, the reason I wanted my deposit back was simply because the price they were offering the vehicle at was non-negotiable and astronomically high in comparison to price quotes I was offered by other dealers in the area. I purchased my vehicle from a Honda dealership in West Caldwell. Their service, and level of professionalism was far superior to that of Madison Honda. To be frank, the actions taken by Madison Honda regarding my deposit were ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. I will be putting a complaint in to the better business bureau due to the lack of professionalism and general fairness on part on Madison Honda and more specifically, Joseph Tyson himself.

Simply cannot complain. Sales rep gave me a very fair price on my tradein, as well as, a nice price for the 2012 model I was buying. Also, threw in extras that would amount to an extra $1000. The transaction was completed in 2 hours time with very little haggling if any.

  • start charge after buying the car

I got the price for the car from web site and come with the sertificate to Madison Honda. Everything was fine except I need to check any string in our contract and correct amount. Then I give them good response. When I come to take my plates they charge me addtional ~ 300$ for dosuments fee. I am feeling like they steal my money from my packet before Cristmas. Do not trust this guys anymore.

My husband, my son and I visited Madison Honda on 10/21/13 to buy a car for my son and a Honda Pilot for US. The Financing manager lied to us telling us our credit was not good enough for the best deal so we had to pay more. We felt despair and frustrated, but I thought we had no way out so we signed 2 leases that night, my son took his car (Honda Accord) but we didn’t take the Honda Pilot. However, we were a little troubled and unsatisfied because we had checked our credit scores before and it was much higher than Madison Honda claimed, so we decided to do some digging. My husband went to another dealer in a different area and was told the opposite. He was treated like a first class citizen, were told that his credit was excellent and got a deal much cheaper than Madison Honda gave him. They even gave him a 1. something % and offer me so much other extras to buy the vehicle, and it came out cheaper than Madison Honda offered with a lease. My husband called Madison Honda the next day to rescind the contract but they were very unpleasant and refused to work it out with him. Not only did they lie to us but also they made us feel like we were second or third class citizens. I am very disappointed after buying one car already from them; they way they treated us, made me feel discriminated against. They treated us like second-class citizens. I even called the manager who was no help. I am would like to know if anyone else had this experience. I am going to put this on social mediums to see if anyone else had this experience. I need another car next year, I am definitely not going to Madison Honda, and we will sure tell our friends and family.

We have used the web service at this dealer several times before with excellent results. For our recent web quote, we got a link rather than an e-mail. Being "green" and having had good prior experiences, I didn't print the quote. When I went in, they didn't offer the quote. Rather they asked me for the quote. When I clicked the link again, the quote had risen by $1,000. They ultimately did agree to honor what I had seen, but the experience has permanently lost my trust in this dealer. Next time, I'll print the quote.

Without getting into a long description of my nightmare of an experience with these people, I feel compelled to report that I found them to be unprofessional, duplicitous, dishonest and stupid. I would sooner take a bus or train than deal with this dealership again.
