  • Scam alert! Buyer beware of Honda West yo-yo financing scam!

    1 out of 5 starsby Bruin87 on 01/06/2015

Scam alert. BUYER BEWARE. This dealership attempted to pull a yo-yo financing scam on us on 1/3/15. It's very simple, let me explain how it works: 1. They give you an amazing low interest rate (2.99%). You agree and sign the papers. What they don't tell you is ... the deal's not done yet. The loan hasn't been finalized. 2. Honda West calls you after you drive off with your car (days, if not weeks later) that the financing 'fell through' and the new interest rate is higher. 3. You get screwed. Either you agree to pay more or you return the car. That's the scam, and Honda West does this with approval from the management. The people I worked with: Jimmy in Finance and Shubao in Sales. Other dirty tricks Honda West tried to pull on us: Lie #1: Told us the lease buyout price wasn't negotiable. That's a lie. Source: help.edmunds.com/entries… Lie #2: Told us the buyout price was $13500 and then offered us a payment plan of $310 for 60 months. Dude, $310 times 60 equals $18600. That's a $5100 increase and another lie. He told us the $5100 were 'taxes and fees'. Tax is 9%. Where the hell did the other $4000 come from? Lie #3: When I caught that the loan wasn't approved yet and that he was going to pull the yo-yo scam on my little brother the Finance guy told us: "Oh. All loans aren't approved prior to purchase." What the hell are you talking about? All loans are finalized prior to purchase of ANYTHING whether it's a car, a house, a condo, a boat, a student loan for tuition. All loan terms are finalized before a transaction or else why the hell are we signing papers? Spreading the word on every social media outlet from Yelp to Dealer Rater about Honda West's dishonest practices. The few hundred dollars they tried to squeeze from my family is going to cost them far more than that. If you're smart, you'll stay away from Honda West. If you're dumb, you'll buy a car from Honda West and end up paying as much for a Honda as a BMW. All we wanted was a quick, simple, and honest transaction but the people at Honda West have no integrity and no honor. You should have played fair, Honda West.
    • I am disappointed to read your review. I personally reviewed the agreement and see the your rate was actually lower than the 2.99% originally quoted. The rate is 2.55%. Your loan was approved prior to you signing the agreement and never had to be rewritten or terms changed. Because of this I am somewhat confused of your review on it's content. I would personally like to speak with you regarding your review and address any concerns or misunderstandings you may have. I expect all Honda West employees to deal with our customers with respect and integrity. Please contact me, Kevin Bushey General Manager here at Honda West with any concerns. 702-367-1919. Thank you

  • Tim Walker great salesman

5 out of 5 starsby noemail on 10/14/2014

I had been looking for a very specific vehicle for quite a while. Online I found the exact match for the year, make, model and miles I wanted at Honda West. I live more than 500 miles away in Texas but since I wanted something very specific I was willing to drive or fly in. Not wanting to spend time doing the deal when I arrived I opted instead to talk through the deal over the phone. They Fed-Ex'ed me the paperwork and even gave me a postage paid return envelope. Everything was in order and I signed off on everything. It was a smooth transaction and Tim Walker managed everything for me right up the coordination of a driver I had set up to drive my vehicle off the lot. I don't normally leave feedback but this was a high ticket item that had a lot of moving parts. Kudos to Tim and the rest of the staff at Honda West.
  • Worst Sales Experience Ever.

1 out of 5 starsby madeulook on 09/29/2014

I went to Honda West to purchase a new vehicle, I researched the vehicle online and even had a quote through edmunds.com. Honda West called and emailed me for 3 weeks to get me to come in to do a test drive. When I arrived to make my purchase I was met with sales staff who didn't know the difference between grey and truffle interiors, who were put off because I did not want to run credit until I knew the details. Most upsetting is that they were completely rude, degrading and disrespectful when I asked for a copy of the proposed car sales agreement (their paper is their property is what I was told) and even more upset when I asked the supposed manager for his NAME. I know ridiculous to want a photo copy and name. No problem Honda West - I bought my Odyssey from Findlay Honda just hours after. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN! Findlay Honda benefited from it. John W. cost Honda West a sales. Judging by the other reviews, it seems the sales managers are the main culprits. Terrible that your managers are the ones costing you business and upsetting potential customers.
  • Typical Dealership Mentality

    1 out of 5 starsby customer84 on 07/12/2014

I usually do not write reviews. Here is how the world works including the people at Honda West in Las Vegas. They try and deceive you through lack of honesty and full disclosure, all in the name of chasing after mammon. It is disgusting. The sales person I worked with always hid behind her manager. She would say "my manager said this and that, trying to force a financial decision. Why would you do this to people? Do you not know that God hates people who deceive? Do you not think he knows every detail of your intentions? Be honest and you will be prosperous. I know people have a hard time bringing God into the equation but he sees everything including your financial transactions. He expects integrity. I would be more than willing to pay full price including a profit. Remember this when dealing with dealerships and sales people. They continue with the same tactics and God hates it. Read your Bible!! There are lessons on how to be very prosperous. It does not include deceiving people for personal gain!! Remember people, remember!!

Honda West (W. Sahara) tints all their cars' windows and installs alarm systems on all their cars because cars have been stolen from their lot before. This HAPPENED to work out for me, being an LV resident, because the sun is horrendous and tinting is, pretty much, necessary here. The alarm hasn't given me any problems so far, but the car is a hybrid and I didn't want the electrical system played with. The thing that annoyed me was my inability to get a brand new car without their modifications. What if I wanted a different color/shade of tint? What if I didn't want the alarm system? There were literally no unmodified cars on the lot. Prior to leaving I had them remove the "Honda West" stenciling on the trunk, as well. *sigh* My sales person was new and clueless. He did his best and was hustling, obviously, so I can't downgrade him. The financing clerk could've been an animatronic dummy, for all his personality and customer service skills. He actually told me on purchase that I'd get a tax refund for having bought a hybrid that year when, in actuality, there was no longer any tax incentive attached to the Honda Insight because its sales quota had already been met. Other than those, I have no major complaints. My trade-in fetched decent money and the process went very smoothly.
  • Underwhelming

    2.5 out of 5 starsby na_hosoi on 08/17/2010

Service wasn't very knowledgeable. I got the sense there weren't any actual mechanics working there. I thought I was having a problem and the service department representative told me to "bring it back when the check engine light comes on", presumably so they could connect it to a computer and have the computer tell them what to do. I live maybe 2 miles away from the dealership. They have a van service to take customers home and pick them up - I've used a similar service when I had hours to wait for my car at another LV dealership. The Honda West service dept rep actually told me to my face that they'd only be willing to either pick me up from home, or drop me off. I needed to choose. I was floored. I decided to WALK home. On my way, the van driver caught up with me along the side of the road and took me home and picked me up again when the service was complete. That's as it should've been from the start. Oh, and the optional USB connector for my car is $400...I think a little more with "labor". It's a essentially a short USB cable the plugs neatly into the back of the factory stereo with a proprietary connector. That's it. All-rubber floor mats were $100 and they didn't give you the trunk mat with them. The trunk mat's another 100, I think. Service at Honda West has been pretty bad.
  • Horrible Service!!!

1 out of 5 starsby phulesdream on 03/25/2010

Had problems with my brakes and took it in twice. They said nothing was wrong. The third time I took it back and made a scene and insisted the manager check my car. Turns out the main cylinder was cracked and leaking fluid. Thanks to this lazy place I could have crashed but they oviously didnt care. Every time I go in it's always "Oh that will take about 2 hours." Amazing that every service takes 2 hours. Why would an oil change take 2 hours????? I immediately drove over to Freddy's and got it done in 20 minutes with a tire rotation AND a car wash. Staff at Honda were disinterested and even made phone calls WHILE I was talking to them. Go somewhere else, they dont care and you may end up worse off.
  • Beware

1.3 out of 5 starsby vegasnv on 06/07/2009

They'll definitely attempt to rip you off if they can. Most of the dealers in Vegas that I have been to are pretty lousy and this one is no exception. Wasted 2 hours with their game playing sales team. Don't waste your time. California isn't too far away and you can work out a much better deal than with these [violative content deleted].
