Dishonest dealership. Avoid Dean Team Volvo of St. Louis
by john on 02/09/2022Buy elsewhere. Dishonest dealership. Avoid Dean Team Volvo of St. Louis. SHORT VERSION: Dean Team sold me a CPO car with faulty camera, lied that repair had been made (service dept confirmed no repair had been made), and didn't honor the… deal they agreed to. Dishonest, shady dealership. Specifically, I suggest you avoid working with Pat Pyle or Grant Winnett. LONGER VERSION: Dean Team sold me a car with a faulty camera. The faulty camera was shown in the online listing's photos. I was told it had been fixed. Upon delivery to me, the camera was still broken. Their service department informed me there was no record of any service to the car after the initial CPO intake inspection. So, essentially they told me they'd fixed a problem, but never did. That's a big problem for a CPO car. Second, Dean Team Volvo did not honor the financial terms of the deal. Specifically that the car would be delivered with a full tank of fuel. Upon delivery, the tank was just over half full. This is not a huge financial issue, but a deal is a deal, and Dean Team Volvo did not keep their word. Lastly, the vehicle was not delivered by the agreed-upon date, resulting significant rental car cost to me. Once my deposit was paid, the dealer was unresponsive for a week, and delivery was delayed weeks beyond the agreed upon date. Buyer beware: avoid Dean Team Volvo. Shop elsewhere.Friendly, low pressure sales experience
by Kathy on 02/08/2021When purchasing a new vehicle from a dealership > 100 miles away, there are many phone discussions prior to the actual visit. We got all of our questions answered and our priorities set 2 days before the visit to the dealership. Joe Majda… honored all of the conditions that we had discussed previously and provided an efficient car buying experience. We went from initial test drive to driving away in our new Volvo in ~ 3 hours. Also they adhered to current COVID restrictions throughout the dealershipGreat team great experience
by stldriver on 11/08/2018Had a great experience with Dean Volvo -- bought a new 2018 XC90 from them. Knew what I wanted and Brandan took care of everything. There were zero surprises when I came to sign the papers. Highly recommend them.Great Used car buying experience
by carcustomer on 09/12/2017Tre Johnson went "the extra mile" today when I picked out my Audi convertible! I was delighted to work with such a professional and friendly sales person! Tre was never pushy but he was informative about the differences in the cars that… appealed to me! He made the experience easy and actually fun! I got the car I was dreaming of at the price I was comfortable with! Funny thing is, I am a first time Dean Team customer, and I called and asked for Tre, based on the reviews I saw here! Dave was friendly and helpful with the paperwork! I'll deal with these guys again next time! If you're buying a car, buy from Tre Johnson!Avoid + FYI for Potential Volvo XC90 Hybrid Customer
by STLCustomer on 02/13/2017Avoid. Like the plague. Apologies for the long post here, but if you're thinking about buying a Volvo, please take a moment to read: We leased a new XC90 Hybrid from Volvo of Brentwood in early 2016. The car had a lot of problems right… from the start. In less than a year, the center console that powers the temp/GPS/sound/etc. failed numerous times, the transmission failed, the windshield leaked, defrost & air conditioner had to be repaired, it stalled & was towed to the dealer, and - most concerning - the backdoor locks would occasionally malfunction and trap passengers in the car until someone opened the door from the outside. Needless to say, the XC90 Hybrid was the worst car we've ever had. But - it's a car. It happens. The real problem with Volvo of Brentwood is how they handled the situation. It literally took me months to reach the dealership General Manager, Edin Hadziafendic. I left a number of messages and wrote to him. No reply. In December 2016, after the central console that was replaced/rebooted several times started to glitch out again, I finally went into the dealership and sat down until he would come out to talk to me. After a long conversation, Mr. Hadziafendic told me that the XC90 Hybird model 'was having a number of problems', and that he was generally keeping them 'off his lot.' He offered to 'send our car back to Volvo' and switch us out into a different car. He wanted us to sign a new, three-year lease. I told him that I wouldn't add another year onto our existing contract, and he replied that he'd 'check into it' to 'see what he could do.' I'll skip the details of the eventual switch, except to say that it wasn't good. What happened next, however, is why I'm now spreading the word. The Volvo XC90 we returned had a list of unresolved service items that were written up by the Volvo Brentwood service team. Again, it was my understanding that the car was 'to be returned' to Volvo. What actually happened --- the car was put on the market the day after we returned it, and quickly resold to a buyer on the West Coast. I only know about the resale because about a week later I received a call from a tow company in Washington. Our personal contact data was still linked to the car [another problem] and the XC 90 we returned was apparently broken down - again - on the side of the road. After that call, I pulled the title information and it showed no record of the Volvo XC ever being repaired again after we returned it to Volvo Brentwood. No record even of repairs to the known problems that we had detailed (in writing) with their service team. The problems we had with our XC90 were an irritating inconvenience. The fact that the dealer turned around and sold our problems to a second, unsuspecting customer is appalling. PS: I have sent all of this information to Volvo's US corporate office, and their response has been flat disinterest. I was told they are "unable to address any of the issues" regarding the XC 90 we returned, and that "they regret the dealer told you the vehicle was being sent back to Volvo and that didn't happen." But that's it. I've been surprised, frankly, that Volvo USA has also appeared to be unconcerned that the last service issues with our XC90 Hybrid don't appear to have been repaired before it was sold. It's a cavalier apathy that doesn't seem to align with their former reputation for safety. Caveat Emptor - Buyer beware.Buyer BEWARE
by sad_buyer1 on 01/06/2016updated 01/25/2016Aweful!! Buyer BEWARE!! Agreed to pay advertised price....only to have finance underhandedly up and charge more for the car!!! Stuffed the envelope without the bill of sale or contract. Took a week to get the contract....they still will… not provide bill of sale. Can't get my plates transferred. NO ONE will address mistake....seriously, who is going to pay more than an advertised price. Manager won't even take calls. SHADY, SHADY and REALLY SHADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Good People
by ljb17 on 03/24/2009The front desk, customer service, and sales staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased my first Volvo there 3 years ago and was pleased then and had a good experience with the sales force recently looking at the new XC60. If… it wasn't for their service department I would have probably bought another car from them this week.Used car purchase
by kirstie_h on 08/10/2007I bought a used vehicle here, and I couldn't have been much happier with the process. My (female) salesperson was friendly and helpful. Almost no haggling, very quickly came to a handshake on the deal. My only complaint was F&I - when I… got in, they had a pre-printed sales contract on which they'd automatically added an extended warranty, road service, tire protection, etc., for an additional $5K. I had not asked for any of this, and had to wait while they produced a new contract without any of those items. But I didn't get heavy pressure to buy them, and I was in and out of the whole process in 1.5 hours.
