  • Horrible Used Cars

    I bought a Toyato Highlander (2021) in Nov 2024 with 39500 miles. The vehicle costed over 30k and I have had nothing but problems with it. The vehicle has a different door than rest of car (design not same) I didn't realize until 3 was after purchase and they refused to remedy the problem. The car had been in accident. They inspect the vehicles when they come in and yet they did not disclose the damages. I specifically told my sales man no cars with accident history. Well fast forward I have had the interior mirror replaced 3000 covered by warranty, a brake seized has to pay 600 for that, shocks gone 600 for that. I will NEVER BUY A VEHICLE FROM.ANY KOONS AGAIN. I ask for few dollars off when I bought and sales man refused. They are very pleasant [non-permissible content removed]. BEWARE

  • The Only Place to Buy a New Toyota in the Annapolis Area

    If you live in the Annapolis area, Koons Toyota is the only place to buy your new Toyota. From the moment I first entered this dealership, I was warmly greeted and immediately treated like a family member. I was extremely fortunate to be introduced to Austin, my Sales Representative and Product Specialist. Austin listened to my questions regarding the purchase of a new RAV4 Hybrid, and clearly explained all of the differences between the various trim lines. He next took me for a test drive, and fully answered all of my questions as we drove around Annapolis. When we returned to Austin’s office, he provided a pricing sheet which clearly described all of the itemized costs of the vehicle, along with a sheet that detailed the RAV4’s specifications. I also want to thank Ron, the General Sales Manager, for explaining the delivery schedule and financing. Ron too was a great pleasure to work with. Bottom line: (1) Koons Annapolis Toyota is the one place I will ever by a Toyota, (2) Austin is the go-to sales representative, (3) you will greatly enjoy the process of buying your new Toyota at this dealership, and finally (4) this was a 5 star experience.

  • Sleeping their way to poor customer service

    Don’t waste your time with this dealership. They’re asleep at the wheel. Spent a day there to buy a new vehicle. Why it took them a day I don’t know. Too busy eating their Taco Bell and talking about their shoes. Multiple layers of management and sales people. And finance people and business people. Only for them to realize at the end of day that they gave me the wrong VIN. All financing and insurance was on the wrong VIN. And this at 5pm on the last day of the month with an end of month deal. Makes me wonder whether they had any intention of honoring the deal. Happily taking my business to another Toyota dealership which genuinely cares about their customers with attention to detail

    The salesperson, the finance person, and the closer were all friendly and courteous. All went out of their way to carefully explain every aspect of the sale and accompanying paper work. The extended warranty they offered was amazingly comprehensive for a very reasonable cost. Would definitely recommend this dealership.

    I want to highlight the stellar customer service by Amanda Mitchell, Product Specialist. Amanda doesn't employ high pressure sales tactics. Amanda worked with me to find exactly what I specified as non-negotiables. She did her research and found a way to get me what I wanted, which meant ordering from the plant. She kept me informed of the progress of the shipment, which arrived early. Amanda's customer service skills include flawless consulting (Peter Block's book), advocacy, active listening, and collaboration. Thank you Amanda!

    High demand vehicle...hybrid...required long lead time; however, inventory manager went above and beyond to find what we wanted. Automatic dealership markup above MSRP, non negotiable; required credit check even with pre approved loan; Josann was a great sales person, Finance Director as well as Finance Manager were amazing to work with and made our delivery seamless.

    I test drove a Toyota Rav 4 with Product Specialist, Garret Jackson. Garret was friendly and knowledgable. No pressure. He also had nerves of steel when I backed the brand new SUV into a space between two other brand new SUVs! If you are in the market for a new Toyota, ask for Garret.

  • Do not buy a used car without having a mechanic inspect first!!

    Here is a letter I wrote to the dealership on 12.11.23, after we purchased a used car, that needed around 5,000.00 worth of repairs that Toyota would not cover even though I purchased the extended warranty for 3,000.00. I was told the car had been inspected and that they could not sell to me if it had passed Maryland State Inspection and that the damage had to be due to a recent accident, which just was not true. To date I still have not received a response. I want to add that our salesperson, Chris Zook was amazing. I am writing regarding the 2019 Nissan Sentra that we purchased from Koons Toyota on 10.12.23. Per our conversation on Saturday, December 9, 2023, we discussed the problems that have surfaced since buying the car less than 60 days ago. We started by taking the car to our local shop in Centreville for what we thought would be an alignment on 12.1.23, but were told that we had 2 bent tie rods. We called Toyota on 12.2.23 to see if the extended warranty would cover the repairs and Toyota said we needed to bring the vehicle to them for inspection of the problem because they needed to evaluate for themselves since we had the extended warranty. Later that same day, Toyota told us we had to come back to Annapolis and take the car to Nissan so they could inspect, since the extended warranty was through Nissan. Upon inspection by Nissan, they noted serious repairs are needed and that the car should never have passed inspection. Toyota has determined they are not liable for repairs since it passed the Maryland State Inspection and that I will have to pay for the repairs on my own. Toyota offered no help whatsoever. During our conversation you questioned a few things listed below and I am not sure what these questions had to do with the issue at hand, but I wanted to note the details of our conversation and further clarification from me. • You stated that we could have had a recent accident, that we may have not reported to our insurance company that caused this damage, which is not correct. If there had been an accident, I would have reported the accident to our insurance company and had the car repaired. Consequentially, I am sure that if another party were involved in an accident with us, they would have reported it and asked for our insurance. • You thought it was odd that we had put 1500 miles on the car since we purchased. My daughter commutes to Towson twice a week and round trip is about 150 miles, times 8 trips are 1200 miles and the extra 300 was from driving to class, visiting friends on the weekend etc. • You thought it was odd that we had not reported this sooner. My daughter mentioned this to us about 3 or 4 weeks ago and we thought she was making a fuss about nothing. She finally decided to have it checked out, as the problem continued, and this is when our local shop told us about the bent tie rods. According to Carfax it looks like the Nissan was purchased at auction. If that is true, please send me a copy of the sales receipt. I would also like a copy of the inspection report. You can send both copies to this email address. I am also looking for copies of everything I signed electronically with Mr. Cypress. I have copied him on the email. I have also copied our sales representative, Chris Zook, to make him aware of the situation. Koons Toyota has been around as long as I can remember. Me and my family (5 generations) were born and raised in Annapolis, and we are astonished by this outcome. Selling a car with these types of damages could have ended tragically for my daughter and I’m thankful that nothing serious happened. Thank you for your time.
    • Becky, I am sorry to see this review. The vehicle passed Maryland State Inspection (MSI), and there were no concerns when you test-drove and purchased the vehicle. A copy of the MSI you requested was emailed to your work email when you sent the letter (please check your spam). We do apologize for the delay on the other paperwork. We will have the Finance Manager email you copies of everything you signed electronically. In the meantime, if you need it sooner, there is a copy of the paperwork on the USB given to you.   • They'll skip what they promissed

    Neal Barret after selling me the car avoided all of my calls, messages and emails for 3 months just to avoid a $38 he promised to reimburse. The issue is still unresolved. They will deliver on some of their promises only if you make sure it happens before you sign a check. Yes the people there are polite and not pushy. It's the actions that count.

    Do not buy a used car from Koons Toyota Annapolis! Purchased a Toyota Camry in April 2023, maintenance light came on in June 2023. Took the car in for maintenance and service told us the car needed over $5000 in service! We purchased this car just over 3 months ago!!! The service department didn’t know how it could have passed the Maryland State Inspection. I wouldn’t recommend this dealership to my worst enemy! If you’re in the market for a used car, look elsewhere.

  • Koons Toyota Annapolis doesn't like selling cars

    My wife and I are looking at a new Highlander. They have no inventory, which we totally understand. We are willing to order our Toyota. They actually had a slightly damaged Highlander they let us look at. We spent some time there and started working on our order, the sales lady was brand new and she seemed to be trying really hard, her name was "Joe" . We left for the night but came back the next evening to "sure things up" and place our order. When we arrived we met with the sales front desk person who stated "Joe" was off. I asked if I could speak to a manager since I was ordering a Highlander I had some questions on different engine options. I was directed to "Jason" who did not seem interested in helping me, they had to actually ask him to get involved and help me, I then had to walk over to him, and he would not even get out of his chair to greet me and seemed really bothered talking to me. I advised him that we were ordering the Highlander, and his tone changed, he stated it would take months to come in - very negative tone. I said the wait was fine knowing this is the "new" way to buy a car right now. I asked him to have "Joe" give me a call so we could wrap this deal up. Jason again said " you might not see this car until December, which I said was fine, then he said you have to put a deposit down too. My wife and I both thought he was agitated that they had very little inventory and we surmised that they may not make a lot off of ordered cars. I did state to my wife that I hope this was a part time job for him. She agreed and said there is no way a full time sales manager would act like that. Here is an actual copy of the email I sent. Today is June 14th, two plus weeks, and we have not received a phone call, email, text, or anything from Koons Toyota from anyone. I gave all our contact information to "Joe" and then to Jason. THIS IS THE ACTUAL EMAIL SENT MAY 31: (Heard nothing back) Customer Jeff & Rebecca Croissette Jeff Croissette Tue, May 31, 8:37 PM to Jason.Lormore Good evening Jason and "JOE" - who is our sales person; however, Joe does not have an email address as of yet, since she is new to Koons Toyota, so I am reaching out to you Jason. Please share this email with her - thank you. My wife, Rebecca and I came in about a week ago to look at several vehicles; however, we keyed in on the Highlander. Unfortunately, you had no Highlanders for us to test drive, (just a wrecked one we got to sit in) . We are still very interested in the Highlander, especially building our own, which you helped us out with. When we got home, we went further and looked over all options and models, and we are close here, but we need to test drive both the 3.5 V-6 and the Hybrid 4 cylinder. Joe: We are aware, and fully understand, from a follow up trip the next day at the dealership where you were off, and we spoke with Jason to the following: 1. IF we order a vehicle it may take 6 months to arrive - we are totally good with that since our daughter does not drive until December, which is when we would then give her our current family car. 2. We need to put down $2500 to order a car - NO PROBLEM, we understand and agree. 3. There is no set timeline when you may get either or one of the Highlanders in for us to test drive - according to Jason it could be a month to get both a Hybrid and a 3.5 V6 - we understand and get it ! Once we test drive the two Highlanders, and IF we decide the Highlander is the direction we want to go, then we will make an appointment with you to sit down and order our car !   • Stolen EZPass

    I bought a vehicle and accidentally left my EXPass in my car when I traded it in. I didn’t realize it until I received two separate bills showing two different vehicles. My old vehicle wasn’t sold until last week. When I called the very nice man who sold me my car, and who I gave a great review, he just shrugged me off. It’s my fault for leaving in the car, but my biggest mistake was trusting the company to do the right thing.
