Was ready to buy and walked away due to being cheated on trade in.
by tightlilbox on 07/13/2010I test drove a 2010 Cobalt, liked it and was ready to make a deal. The sales lady was great (can't remember her name) but she was willing to answer any questions and all the normal sales people stuff... Worked with the sales manager to… make the price within what I was willing to spend. I was trading in a 2005 Pt Cruiser convertible with 102,xxx miles on it and a 2001 Harley Sportster 883. After looking at my car the sales manager offered $6000 for BOTH the car and the bike. In my opinion a little low, so I decided I would look at selling my bike and put the cash down and still trade the car in. Upon selling the Harley 2 days later, I went back in and asked to rework the numbers. The Manager comes back with only offering me $3000 for my car and me putting the cash down that I sold the HD for. I mentioned that I had dealt with SEVERAL other dealers who were all offering drastically more for the trade then he was offering and he at that point got a rude attitude. He told me he would call his buddy at the Chrysler dealer and get a price they would buy it for and that's what he would offer. Waiting in the lobby for a good 2 hours I decided I wouldn't wait anymore and told them to call when they got a figure for me... 3 days later I stopped in again as I got no call from them. Stumbling this time he tells me they agree'd only $3000 is what the Chrysler dealer would offer on my trade in. Which I believe was a lie by the way he was talking. I at this time mentioned the other dealers offers on my trade in. Volkswagen - $5600 Nissan - $5500 Hyundai - $5250 Subaru -$6200 (however only tied to a 2009 model in june 2010, so it was a slighter higher price because of that). The sales manager immediately told me I was not telling the truth on the prices I told him, as well as claimed the dealer was using "hidden dealer cash" to make up the $2000 difference on the trade in. I later decided to ask the other dealerships who all stated they were offereing what the car is worth and had ZERO dealer cash involved... Besides that VW NEVER does rebates, discounts, etc... Just because they don't and can sell the cars for what they ask. anyways... The sales lady was nice and seemed willing to want to work with me to get the deal made, however with a manager who wanted to play games calling the shots on her side, it made me walk away from a sale that was ready to be made and look somewhere else. I will NEVER look there agian as there are several other Chevy dealers in town who don't treat you like your an idiot and willing to throw away $2000+ in trade in value away because a sales manager is playing games.Good experience!
by loukon on 06/04/2010It's been a few years since we bought a new GM vehicle, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sales experience. Very friendly and helpful. They acted like they've learned a lesson, that the customer wants to be treated with respect and… feel valued. The sales person took a lot of time explaining the new vehicle during the delivery process, which was nice. We didn't have to figure it out on the way home! F&I experience was even enjoyable; no brow beating about extended warranties, finish/interior treatments, etc. I was very pleased and will gladly recommend and return to Summit City Chevy.New Silverado
