A Cautionary Tale – Avoid Mike Anderson Chevrolet at All Costs
by Callen Britton on 06/27/2025I’ve been in the car business for over 8 years, including time behind the finance desk, and I’ve never encountered anything as unprofessional, misleading, and frustrating as my experience with Mike Anderson Chevrolet. I purchased a 2024… Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from them earlier this year, and what should have been a smooth transaction turned into a months-long nightmare that I am still dealing with to this day. 🚩 Deceptive Sales Process I first contacted the dealership on January 31st after finding the truck listed on their website. It was advertised as a Chevrolet Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle — this was a major selling point for me. After discussing financing and pricing, the salesman later told me that the truck was not actually certified — but "pre-certified" — and that the advertised CPO status would cost me an additional $1,995. Not only was that never disclosed upfront, but it was in direct contradiction to the listing on their own site and the vehicle's Carfax report. 📸 I will attach a screenshot of the listing clearly showing that the truck was advertised as Chevrolet Certified, as well as documentation from the Carfax. This kind of bait-and-switch is deceptive and dishonest. It’s a tactic designed to artificially inflate profit by misrepresenting what's included in the advertised price. 💸 Predatory Financing Pressure Originally, I planned to use my own credit union. Then I noticed the dealership’s website offered a Capital One pre-approval tool, and I already had a pre-approval with Capital One, who is one of their advertised preferred lenders. 📸 I’ll also attach a screenshot showing their website promoting Capital One Auto Navigator. I told them Capital One was the only bank I wanted my credit submitted to, and they said that would be no problem. Then, out of nowhere, the sales manager refused to sell me the truck at all unless I financed through GM Financial. Not only did he pull the discount, he outright refused to sell the vehicle unless I used a lender of his choosing. This was an absolutely outrageous abuse of power and a blatant attempt to maximize back-end profit through a higher interest rate. (Which, by the way, was nearly 5% higher than what I was already approved for.) I went through with the financing — fully knowing I would immediately refinance — but the entire transaction left me disgusted. 🚚 Post-Sale Neglect & Tag Delays I signed paperwork on Feb. 18. The truck was delivered on Feb. 25 — with no temporary tag, making it illegal to drive. I didn’t receive a temp tag until Feb. 27 after repeated follow-ups. As part of the out-of-state sale, the dealership used a third-party registration company (ATC), a company I’ve worked with many times. They’re efficient — when the dealership provides what’s needed. But after my sale, I received zero updates on my permanent registration. I started asking about my plates on March 31st, and despite dozens of calls, voicemails, and emails — not one person from finance or the title department has responded to this day. I’ve left countless voicemails and received nothing back. It's now been over four months. My first temp tag was about to expire, and even then, I had to beg for a second one. I sent messages on May 21, May 25, May 27, and finally on May 31 — two days after my tag expired — I got a response with another excuse. I didn't receive the second temp tag until June 2nd. Out of desperation, I even emailed seven different managers listed on their website. Not a single one responded. ⚠️ Final Thoughts This entire experience has been a masterclass in how not to run a dealership. I’ve never encountered such a blatant disregard for honesty, professionalism, or customer follow-up. If they’re willing to treat a knowledgeable, experienced buyer like this — I shudder to think how they treat customers who aren’t familiar with the process. I have filed complaints with the: Better Business Bureau Chicago Automobile Trade Association Illinois Automobile Dealers Association Illinois Secretary of State’s Motor Vehicle Review Board Avoid Mike Anderson Chevrolet at all costs. I’ll be including screenshots of the misleading listing and the false advertising of Capital One as a preferred lender. Let this serve as a warning to anyone considering doing business here.Stay Away!!
by AK on 05/07/2024Though some time has passed, I had an experience with Mike Anderson dealership that I feel compelled to share. While I understand that every customer interaction can present its challenges, the level of service I received was far below what… I expected. When I approached Mike Anderson dealership seeking assistance with my lease, the manager agreed to help me, which initially gave me hope. However, as my case progressed, it became increasingly clear that my concerns were not being taken seriously. The manager handling my case suddenly decided it wasn't worth his time and began avoiding my calls altogether. Instead of addressing my concerns directly, I was passed off to other staff members who seemed equally disinterested in helping me. Throughout this entire ordeal, what was most disheartening was the complete disregard for basic human dignity. Being ignored, lied to, and treated as an inconvenience is simply unacceptable in any customer service interaction. While I understand that not every situation can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction, the least I expected was to be treated with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, this was sorely lacking in my experience with Mike Anderson dealership. After my bad experience with Mike Anderson, I was on the verge of giving up hope in resolving my issue. Fortunately, I found a different dealership that provided outstanding customer service and successfully resolved my concerns. I assume some customer care representative will respond to my review with an apology, however, don't be deceived. My experience reveals systemic issues within Mike Anderson dealership that cannot be easily remedied with a simple apology. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a different dealership. We acknowledge your review and are currently looking into the events you’ve detailed.
Buyer beware!
by Kim on 08/30/2023An overall disappointing car buying experience at this Mike Anderson Chevy dealership. After making it clear with the salesperson, Jorge, from the start that we did not want an extended warranty, the finance manager included it inflating… the agreed upon price. When trying to resolve with the dealership after the fact, all we received was the run around from the salesperson, to the sales manager along with the finance manager, Alex. A verbal offer to rectify the matter was never followed through on. A very unethical dealership all around and buyer beware! Go somewhere else.Kim, it appears the impression you received during your recent visit at our dealership does not reflect our standards of customer service. We appreciate feedback like yours because it helps us identify the areas in which we need to improve as a business. If you would like to discuss this issue in more detail, please give me a call so we can work toward a resolution. Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance. Thank you. Sincerely, Andrew Ramus, General Manager

by Angelica95 on 06/01/2016updated 06/13/2016I shopped online for a while, this dealership was not on my top 3 list. Mike Anderson bypassed them all by being professional and following thru with phone calls and information I requested. The staff was very patient and friendly and I… left with a new Cruze a few hours later. I test drove 6 cars and not once did they pressure me or get frustrated with me. ... I actually had a lot of fun buying my car. This is the first time I can say I had fun buying a car, my previous experience's were horrible. Thank you Sarah!!Mike Anderson Chevrolet
by Jpandar on 05/23/2016Really loved the friendliness and the ability to answer any and all questions about buying a car. I got my new 2016 car with no miles the same dayDissappointed
by ricky92279 on 05/17/2016Whoever buys used cars from this dealership, check you car out thoroughly cause if you find something after you took it off the lot, they will make you pay for it and treat you like crap and give you attitude because you already signed on… the dotted line.Hi ricky92279. Sorry to here about your recent experience. I'm sorry to hear you've been having issues with your vehicle. I'd like to share this issue with management. I DO NOT recommend anyone to visit this location!! STAY AWAY!!
by jonathana1 on 07/09/2015I DO NOT recommend anyone to visit this location!! STAY AWAY!! Not only does this location not care about your business they have representatives who are okay throwing away your business and wasting your time! If you are looking for… professional sales representatives .YOU WON'T FIND THAT HERE! I recently went to Mike Anderson to purchase a vehicle and after closing the deal on a used vehicle, the vehicle was not ready and had to be serviced with problems. After agreeing on a specific package, the representative later called me (2 DAYS LATER) to tell me that they could not provide what was talked about prior to the deal being closed. The representative aggressively told me that he would not do anything for me and called off the deal AFTER THE DEAL WAS DONE. I WASTED 5 HOURS OF MY TIME TO BE TREATED HORRIBLY AND FELT BELITTLED! NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED THAT WAY AND THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS PERFECTLY OKAY WITH IT! MIKE ANDERSON CHEVROLET OF CHICAGO IS A JOKE!Rachel was the Best!
by Jenna_J on 03/05/2015I came into the dealership with my mom to purchase a new cruze. Rachel greeted me at the door right away. I felt comfortable the whole time, I never once felt pressured during the process. She was very knowledgeable with the cars and payed… attention to what I was looking for specifically. I would recommend anyone looking for a car to see Rachel! She really cared about finding the right car for me, not just about making the sale. Before I left she went over all the features, made sure I understood the radio and even paired my phone to bluetooth for me. She has even called me after I left to make sure I didn't have any other questions. Thank you again for helping me! I will definitely be back for my next car!worst experience
by EricBB on 01/25/2015I found this car online and set up an appointment with them after gathering all the info I could from them. they said I was approved I talked them down to $8500 but after driver for two hours it took them 30 minuits to find the key and 3… hours later they told me the car was not for sale yet and the listing price would more than likely go up completely disregarding our agreement so I spent 9 hours dealing with them only to find the car listed is not even for sale because they haven't even inspected this rusty car. the wheel wells are rusty and it was owned by a rental company so the motor will be crap very soon. new mazda 19k this one for more than half that.....
