Great place to buy Toyota
by edward1968 on 10/30/2015This was the third car that I purchased from Middletown Toyota. I always check other dealers and I'm always turned off with their approach. Salesperson and the Manager Riz always pleasant, accommodating and they do not pressure you. They… gave me a very good trade-in value for my car. Thoroughly impressed and I will not buy a car from anyone else. Thanks Edward we really appreciate your business and review about us.
Inquiries not returned.
by MrDonB on 12/31/2014I made an inquiry and was told I would be getting a call which I never did. They had in stock a 4x4 tacoma that I was interested in and they were told I had $25,000 cash to deal with. I was completely ignored. I was going to go out of my… way to deal with them as I live in Vernon close to Lynch Toyota. Never got a phone call back so either Lynch Toyota or Serafin Ford will be getting my buisness, figure one of them will want to sell a vehicle.Bait and Switch
by luvtoyota022 on 09/26/2014Fell for the old "Bait and switch" routine. I was lured into Middletown Toyota with an excellent price for a 2014 RAV4. Spoke to Ben P. concerning a specific VIN and ID number and settled on a price. Went to test drive that specific vehicle… and found out it had leather heated seats. I questioned if this was the correct vehicle and Ben stated multiple times that it was. He also stated that dealers get one special car a month and this one was it - a deal that we should jump on. Fell in love and wrote out the deposit check. After a long period of time a manager came over and said - "Sorry, Ben's mistake but wrong car! But I can sell you that car for more money, just let me figure out how much" Knowing this was a bait and switch and two other Toyota dealers warned me of Middletown doing this I requested my check back. Ben apologized and showed us the paperwork that stated this vehicle with that VIN was advertised for that price! Called the next day and spoke to general manager Joe K. He finally returned my phone call after multiple attempts. Toyota should be ashamed to have a man this disrespectful as a manager. He raised his voice, was belligerent and told me that if I want this car, he will sell it to me with the leather seats removed. He will not accept responsibility for any misrepresentations of his employee. I cannot believe that a dealership this size would not absorb the cost of a sales person making a "mistake". I was warned by other Toyota dealerships and now I plan to warn other customers! By the way, the dealer did change the advertisement of that same VIN RAV4 to include dealer installed heated leather seats, increased the price by $1800 but did not change the color interior of the vehicle - so the advertisement is still wrong.Don't buy a (used) car here
by cul8er on 03/22/2010These people are horrible and couldn't even answer why the Highlander that we looked at was missing the AWD sign on the back of the car, or what the "snow" button actually did. The sales person was horrible. Even after none of my questions… were answered, I still made an offer on the car (it sold itself) he ripped it up and threw it in the garbage. I walked out and called back the next day b/c I wanted that car. At least I know I got it for the absolute lowest.Bad business practices, Not honest
by 610tessa on 07/08/2009This dealership is shady and have bad business practices. I would not trust this dealership with anything that they say. I went in to purchase a vehicle and was "talked into" putting a deposit so that they wouldn't sell the vehicle. I was… told by the salesman that the deposit was refundable, I asked several times. I thought about the vehicle for 24 hours and decided that it wasn't the one for me. I called to have my deposit refunded. The salesman (Bob) told me that the finance manager wasn't there and that they could do it on Monday (this was a thursday that I called). I told Bob that that wasn't acceptable and wanted my money back, he said he would see what he could do. Bob called me a few hours later to say that the money had been refunded. On Monday I went to [another dealership] (who are FABULOUS) and purchased a car, gave a deposit and will be picking it up in 2 days. On Tuesday I found out that the money had not been refunded. I called Middletown Toyota at 7:00 p.m. and spoke to Bob and he said that there was nothing he could do at the time and he would look into it and to call in the morning. I called on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. and spoke to Bob again who told me that my reciept was mailed yesterday (Tuesday) and my money was refunded that day. I was angry and told Bob that he was not honest with me, I felt that Middletown Toyota was being shady and not trustworthy. Bob said that it was out of his control, not his fault and he assumed that they money was refunded on Thursday; Bob also said that it was a holiday weekend and the finance department had other things on their mind. I told him that when it came to my money and him telling me it was refunded that it doesn't matter what weekend it was. I called my bank in the afternoon and the money had still not been returned. I called Middletown Toyota back and spoke to the owner/manager Joe and he said that Bob was not authorized to credit accounts and that he would have to verify what I was saying and see if I was able to get a refund. This shocked me because when I left the deposit I was told that it was completely refundable. Joe said he'd call me back in an hour. I ended up calling him back, Joe told me that the money was refunded on Tuesday and had no reason for why it had not been refunded on Thursday like I was told. He was also unapologetic for what happened. Joe told me that the form I signed said my deposit was non-refundable, even though Bob told me it was. (By the way, by LAW a deposit is refundable. There is a branch of the DMV in Wethersfield that handles claims like this). I told Joe that his salesman lied to me, he was rude, and that I would let everyone I knew not to purchase a car from Middletown Toyota because they are bad businessmen. I felt that Joe was trying to bully me. Joe got upset with me when I told him I was going to contact Toyota corporate and the BBB. Joe insulted me several times and hung up on me. This dealership fits all of the stereotypes of a car salesman, they are sleazy and lie. I would not suggest this dealership to anyone I knew - ever. I have filed a complaint with Toyota. I have never been treated this way by anyone in my entire life. I am still in shock as to how appauling the owner/manager was.Reading the reviews I can see how shady this dealership realy is, although car sales men by nature are considered the trashiest of the trashy, I do want to thank you for potentially saving me the hassel and lost money.
A very satisfying experience
by Satcustomer on 10/11/2012updated 06/05/2025My wife and I just leased a 2012 Toyota Highlander from Middletown Toyota. From the initial visit to the paper signing, everyone we dealt with was professional and friendly. We continue to receive calls and emails checking on our… satisfaction and offering assistance if any is required.Despicable
by cosador on 01/13/2013updated 06/05/2025DON'T GO THERE !!! I went there in 2011, to purchase a new Tacoma. Was met in the lot by a salesman, Bob M. They didn't have what I was looking for So Bob said "we'll get you one". After looking on a computer I was told that the model I… wanted would be there in 8 to 10 days. I put down $1000. to have them keep it until I got a chance to test drive it. After 10 days passed, and needing a truck, I went back to get my money so I could look elsewhere. Met with Terry S., general sales manager, who refused to return my deposit, because they had 120 day to get the vehicle. That portion of the sales agreement I did not sign! I used the Better Business Bureau, Toyota Inc., and the Department of Motor Vehicles to help me get my money back. That was an effort in futility. In the case of the DMV, Middletown Toyota, sent them a sales document that had my name "FORGED" on it. These are despicable people at Middletown Toyota. Don't go there, not even to use the rest rooms!!Richard O. New Britain , CT
by Sabu26 on 08/07/2013updated 06/05/2025I choose Toyota because of their reputation, I choose Middletown Toyota because of Bob B. I'm very happy with both!!Avoid this dishonest dealer
by lvov on 01/13/2012updated 06/05/2025Don't shop there for new or used cars!!! I've made an agreement with another dealership to purchase a new Camry and called Bob Magnano of Middletown Toyota to cancel my appointment with him. He talked to his General Manager right away and… said theyll sell me the same car with the same MSRP for $500 less. It took me two days to get out of my initial agreement. Bob and his partner Al kept on calling me a few times a day to see if my contract was cancelled and promising they would take care of me and how they need my business. When I showed up at Middletown Toyota they told me that it was only good for that first day. Ive asked to speak to General Manager and he refused?!? Can you believe this baloney?!? Is this the way to run a business in the 21st century? Additionally, they were selling a used car with a clean carfax which obviously was repainted due to bubles in the paint. You can be assured I wont ever step foot in this dealership again and neither are my friends if I can help it.BEWARE of their so-called deposit policy!
by jamie55 on 05/26/2012updated 06/05/2025My husband and I visited the dealership around 6 pm on the night of 5/24/12 to look at their used auto inventory. My husband found a car he was interested in and decided to put $1,000 down on it. However, after we talked more about it at… home, he changed his mind. He called the sales person, Bob Magnano, first thing the next morning and he refused to refund the deposit. IT WAS LESS THAN 24 HOURS SINCE HE GAVE IT TO THEM!! I personally went down to the dealership myself because I felt this was incredibly unethical and unfair. When I expressed the fact I felt my husband had been deceived, General Sales Manager Terry Schnurr proceeds to insult me by saying, "The only deception going on seems to be between you and your husband." How disgusting! Needless to say, if you're looking at cars at this dealership, think long and hard before giving them any kind of deposit. I would NEVER purchase a car from these people after this experience.Nice people with best Service

by rolltide7 on 08/23/2013updated 06/05/2025Bob B. made sure we got the color and all of the amenites we were looking for in our car. He welcomed and included our whole family in the car buying experience. Thanks Bob!Third good experience
by doctorsteve on 06/30/2012updated 06/05/2025I received email follow-ups from four dealers. Middletown, from whom I had purchased my previous two cars, was the first to respond and the lowest-priced (a bit below Edmunds' target price, about $1900 below sticker). They initially gave a… low offer on my trade-in, but bargained up over $1000, within $500 of my goal. It was very easy, no pressure, no hassles, dealing with Heather Katuzny, their internet sales person. They had to do a swap with a dealer 200 miles away to get exactly what I wanted, but it went quickly. The only reason I give 4 stars rather than 5 is that when I came to sign papers, they had put an extended warranty in -- something that had been shown to me but which I had not agreed to. When I caught it, the finance person apologized and took it out. Their price on that was actually above that listed at the Toyota site, and way more than one can get it for from some dealers. But I'll assume that putting it into the contract was a mistake rather than a trick. Love the new car, and it was about the simplest buying experience I've had. Doing my research at Edmunds and other sites helped a lot, of course, in knowing what to pay and what to ask for my trade. I'm sorry to see that other people have had such bad experiences. They treated me much better than another dealer who gets higher ratings on this site -- they were constantly sending emails that looked automatically generated, didn't quote a price until I asked, and left several phone messages in spite of my asking for email only. Middletown was all business, and quite straightforward and reasonable. Maybe it is a matter of getting the right salesperson. Heather, who gets the internet requests, seemed great.Excellent Experience
by bao3 on 10/08/2013updated 06/05/2025My wife and I bought a new Rav4 a couple of weeks ago. Before we came to Middletown Toyota, we went to a couple of other dealers and did some researches through internet. The sales man Bob B. was very nice and helpful. He patiently showed… us the vehicle and answered all our questions. We got the best price from them. Brittany and Justin were also helpful too. We definitely will come again next time. Bao
