The sales staff was very friendly and helpful, while not making me feel pressured in what was already a stressful situation (my previous car was totaled, and I needed a new one). Bilal Zafar is a great guy!

  • Avoid Brandfon Honda

My husband and I recently purchased a Certified Used 2011 CRV LX at Brandfon Honda, Branford, Connecticut. The 8-day experience with two different salesman and the sales manager was very unpleasant and has badly skewed my opinion of Honda. Day #1: Met with a salesman on a Saturday, test drove a car and placed a deposit on it. We stated we wanted the car inspected by our mechanic who only requires one days notice. The salesman stated two or three times, he comes in on Wednesday @ 11:00 and to leave a voice mail message for him with garage name, address, phone and directions for him to set up an appointment for the next day, Thursday. Day#2 First, I called before they opened, (7:30), and left a message for the salesman to call me back with time of appointment and I would meet him there. 12:07p.m. I called again and the woman at the switchboard never said he called in 'sick' when she connected me to his voice mail. I left a message for him to call me back. 2:00p.m. My husband called me to find out what was happening which was, no communication from anyone at the dealer! My husband called the garage and made the appointment. He then called the dealer and asked for the salesman and said not to put him into voice mail; we need conformation today about tomorrow. Only then, the front desk woman said the salesman had called in 'sick' and my husband asked to speak with another salesman. The sales manager told my husband, the trip to the garage would be the first thing the salesman did Thursday morning. The salesman who has a cell phone, never checked his voice mail, never communicated to anyone when he called in 'sick' what was happening the next day and totally left us hanging! He was full of excuses the next day about a power outage he had which has nothing to do with calling from a cell phone! That's very unprofessional and shows a total lack of attention to detail! We had to make the appointment not knowing what the salesman's agenda was for Thursday and we had to let the dealership know when the appointment was. Day#3: I arrived at my mechanic's and the salesman drove in. First thing he said was that he had a power outage and he "should have" told his boss about Wednesday's phone calls. He even told my husband over the phone that one of the salesmen had made the appointment which aggravated my husband. The salesman is totally clueless. Results of inspection: -rear brake pads are 60% worn and should be replaced -transmission drain plug, (socket-wrench type), is leaking, (I stood under the car and saw it too) -transmission fluid may not have been totally evacuated when changed I wrote these things down for the salesman to take back to the dealership. Later, salesman calls to say transmission fluid won't be changed, rear brakes are 75% good at 3.4mm when new is 4.5mm and they won't change the pads and the leak would be all set when we pick the car up. He also states there's no title yet and chances are if it's not in Friday am, car won't be ready until the following week. According to the notes on the 150 point inspection worksheet, the rear brake pads measured 5mm so, 4.5mm as new is incorrect, or should I refer to that as a lie? 8mm is the width of a new rear brake pad for a CRV so my mechanic was correct and we accepted a Certified(!) used car with rear brake pads we now have to replace. Day#4 We left town and at the end of the day, the salesman leaves a message for my husband that the car is ready to be picked up the next day, Saturday. We weren't home. Day#5 The salesman leaves a message, "we'll get everything together for you." Since he was going on vacation, we could call 'Bob' next week to tell him when we'd pick up the car. FYI – there" more than one 'Bob' that works there but we weren't given a last name. No surprise there. That's very sloppy business acumen. Day#6 My husband and I are home and drive to Branford, (the dealership is closed), to see where the car is parked. It's not clean, it's not waxed and we checked under it and it's STILL leaking! To have said it was ready was a lie/ this dealership is perfectly ready to sell a LEAKING, CERTIFIED used car with worn rear brakes. This is very bad customer service and totally deceitful. Day#7 12:15p.m. Another salesman calls looking for insurance information and said the leak was fixed. I asked him when it was fixed, (remember, we saw it yesterday), and he said last week. I informed him he just lied to me and of course he denied it. Now I'm hot and ready to get the deposit back. I told him if it's leaking, we're not taking it! 12:18p.m. The sales manager calls to ask when we're picking it up. I told him to talk to the salesman I just spoke to and hung up. There is no communication between employees at this dealership. For example, I was asked for insurance information three or four times plus my insurance man faxed all the information! This dealership is very disorganized to the point of becoming an annoyance to the customer. 12:20p.m. Sales manager calls to say the leak was fixed. Under the circumstances, who would believe that? Not me. In the afternoon, my husband called the second salesman to ask about wheel locks which were noted on the Car Fax as being installed 5-16-11. We weren't asking for installation of the locks but, they are due to us because that is what is noted on Car Fax as being present. My husband got a snippy bad attitude response that 'no one puts wheel locks on steel wheels.' Really? I don't care if the wheels are made of cardboard. It's the principle that matters. New tires can be protected from theft too by wheel locks. Now we have a dealership that has no good customer service skills, sells 'certified' used cars where the certification process is completed by substandard mechanics and publishes false car faxes. 2:20p.m. My husband calls sales manager to ask for a different salesman for delivery in the hopes we get someone pleasant and intelligent. He says he'll call back "in a couple of hours." 5:30p.m. There was no call back. My husband called again to get another salesman's name. The sales manager tells him he and two technicians stood under the car and it's not leaking. At this point, I'm ready to not take delivery of the car. My husband said we would and then get it fixed by our superior mechanic and then investigate civil/court proceedings. Day#8 We pick up the car never to return to Brandfon Honda again and with a determined mission to spread the word about this horrible and unnecessary experience. We arrive home, look under the car and lo and behold the leaking socket- type transmission drain plug has been replaced with a new Allen-wrench type socket. The sales manager couldn't even admit or communicate to my husband what had transpired because God forbid the customer should be right. Also, wouldn't that piece of information ease our minds a little? If that dealership cannot admit they were wrong, that's dishonest and insincere. In conclusion, we had to suffer with three unprofessional salesmen, we still have to get rear brakes, we don't have the wheel locks that are owed to us and we never received the maintenance receipts on this used car. A car fax record is not the same as a receipt which may have further mechanics notes and details.

  • Great experience at Brandfon!!!!!!

    4.2 out of 5 starsby t_ingarra on 12/19/2009

I love my new car. I did the research and hands down.... Honda was the winner. The dealership was fantastic right from the start. It was the best (and easiest ) experience buying a new car. They quoted me a great price on the new car and gave me a fair trade on my old car. I am definitly going to look at a honda for my next car..... or suv. Do yourself a favor..... contact Kathryn through the internet for the best price!!! She quoted me a price that was lower than I thought I could even haggle them down to.

  • Great Experience!

5 out of 5 starsby carleenm on 12/18/2009

My experience at Brandfon Honda was the easiest car-buying experience I ever had. Kathryn Woodford provided an Internet quote, followed-up appropriately and was very knowledgeable about the vehicals. She took the time to understand my needs and went above and beyond to be sure that I ended up with the right car. I was at the dealership several times test driving, researching the cars and financing. At one point I had my dog with me and she was very welcome in the dealership, and treated like the princess she is at home! By the time I took delivery of my new CR-V I was thrilled, and have been since the first day! This is my third Honda and I believe my 9th car and this dealership's sales department ranks right up there on top!!

I love my new Honda 2013 CR-V LX AWD . I did the research and hands down.... Honda was the winner. The dealership was fantastic right from the start. It was the best (and easiest ) experience buying a new car. They quoted me a great price on the new car. I am going to look at a honda for my next auto. Do yourself a favor..... contact Tiffany O., through the internet for the best price!!! She quoted me a price that was lower than I thought I could even haggle them down to. Best thing - they are honest and honor their words. Guess that's the reason for their success.
