Shady salespeople and they sold my info!
by wildebeest on 11/21/2007updated 11/28/2007I was browsing their used car inventory on their Web site when a particular truck caught my eye. It was the model year I was looking for and had the options I wanted. I filled out the online credit app and was contacted by their "internet… sales manager" when they received my vehicle inquiry. I live a good distance away, so it took a couple of days and a few phone calls to get down there to look at this truck. My salesman (Ray) assured me the truck was ready to look at and I could come down that evening. After I drove an hour to get down there, I was told that the truck's keys had mysteriously been "misplaced", but they had a couple of similar trucks available for me to look at. I took the bait and test drove the other trucks while I waited for them to "find" the keys. It was during one of these test drives that their "sales manager" called my salesman on his cell phone to inform him that the truck I wanted was unable to be financed because it was "too old" (1999). After being shown 3 or 4 trucks that I was most definitely not interested in (4WD models, higher-priced models), I was informed that there was a truck they had just gotten in that wasn't ready to be test-driven yet that I might be interested in. They dragged me into the service shop to show me a base model that was still being "reconditioned" since it was just traded in. At some point during this ordeal, they took my car keys to do an appraisal on my trade-in and kept them for over an hour even though the car was right outside the window and I could see they had been done looking at it for quite some time. I guess they knew I was getting tired of the run-around and they were making sure I stayed put so I could be barraged by even more trucks they were trying to unload on me. After driving an hour to Gilbert, being misdirected for 3 hours and not even getting to look at the truck I came down there for, I had decided that enough was enough and told Ray I wasn't interested anymore. The next day I got a call saying I was approved for the truck they showed me in the shop and that I could come down that night to test drive it. I told them once again that I wasn't interested. That was about 2 months ago. Fast forward to today and I am STILL getting phone calls from smaller "buy here, pay here" type places stating that they heard that I was in the market for a new truck. I can't believe the nerve of these people! You are Going To Need To Be Persistant!
by dinaz on 09/06/2007If you are an Edmunds.com reader, you know the steps to take in buying a new car or truck. San Tan Ford probably won't agree to show you the invoice, but if you do your homework, you can find the invoice price on edmunds.com I recently… purchased a new 2007 F-150 from SanTan Ford, however it took a few hours of negotiating. They first offered to sell me the truck at MSRP minus Fords Rebate. I simply told them they HAD to do better than that. Next they offered a $1800.00 discount from MSRP, the salesman brought over the sales "manager", and they both told me that was the absolute best deal they could do. I walked away for several minutes to "think about it", then returned and told them NO DEAL, and started walking out of the dealership. Of course they stopped me, and asked what more I wanted. I told them I know the invoice price, and that is what I would buy the truck for. In the end, I payed invoice price less Fords rebates, got 0% financing, and got top dollar for my trade, (actually $500.00 over Edmunds trade in value). I even got them to throw in their normal "Dealer Add Ins" (ie. AutoButler, Glass Etching, etc.) There are several Ford dealers in the Phoenix area that are willing to show you the invoice, however SanTan had the model truck in stock with the options I wanted. Just being persistent and patient payed off for me. Over all the experience was a good one, and I am VERY satisfied with my new F150. The "internet sales manager" responded promptly to my internet inquiry. As with ANY dealership, do your homework!!! Know the invoice price, and know your trade value, before you go in. With todays soft market, you, the buyer, has the power to negotiate!Worst experience I've ever had trying to purchase a vehicle!!
by tom138 on 08/10/2007This place is a joke. I went to San Tan Ford after seeing the nat'l advertisement by Ford for 0% financing and $2007 cash back. After researching the vehicles online (good website- only positive I can say) I called and spoke with the… salesperson and told him I was interested in looking at 2 vehicles. When I arrived neither vehicle was ready for me, in fact we walked around the dealership looking forever for the trucks. Turns out one was a demo and had 2200 miles on it. They told me they would deduct 10 cents a mile on the truck ($220). What a joke! I liked the truck (explorer) and started negotiations. They told me my offer was unreasonable (I was willing to pay invoice). I said fine and left. After several calls from the dealer they finally told me they would accept my offer but I couldn't get 0% financing. I had to tell them it was BOTH 0% and $2007 cash back as advertised on TV, at the dealership, newspaper, etc. They tried to tell me it was up to the individual dealership. Finally the salesperson told me okay they had the truck for 34k and 0% financing. I went to the dealership ready to purchase and the sales manager comes out and tells me that it was going to be a little higher than 34k. I walked out only to have them call me repetitively trying to get me to accept the offer I was told was originally "unreasonable". Any way i went to Earnhardt and got a similar price within minutes. No BS, no games and on a car without 2200 miles on it.Maintaining my Ford Escape

by PLWG on 03/30/2013updated 08/04/2025Charlie comes across as very nice, but get your deal in writing. changed my deal twice. I complained to Ford Customer Care and Charlie was contacted by them. They called me back and said Charlie said it was a misunderstanding and the deal… is what you were told, so I was told to call Charlie. I call Charlie and he confirms the deal is that amount and schedules a time (next day) for me to pick up my vehicle , but says he's hesitant about doing business with me due to a survey that only goes to customers who buy. I tell him not to worry. I just want the deal I was promised. THe next day & ONE HOUR BEFORE I AM TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND PAPERWORK FOR MY CREDIT UNION, CHARLIE CALLS AND ADVISES THE DEAL HAS CHANGED AND ITS NOW $1000 MORE AND IF YOU GO THROUGH FORD MOTOR CREDIT THAT WILL REMOVE THAT $1000. I already had my financing in place, which was 2% lower then Ford Credit. Charlie is DISHONEST. My advice if you go to them get the deal in writing, if they do not give it to you in writing and change it complain to Ford Customer Care at 1-800-392-3673. And don't plan on them wanting to do business with you because they are so concerned about the survey's they go to buying customers only they will avoid you and/or change the deal so you go away. Something about these surveys are a real detriment to them.1. Dear PLWG, we are very sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience with our salesman and dealership. Should Not Be this Way
by scubatahiti on 07/05/2011updated 08/04/2025Purchased a 2011 Raptor and during the process the sales person "Dustin" attempted to give me the manuals for the 2010 model. When I told him I wanted the 2011 he made a commitment that he would get me the correct version. Well it is now 2… weeks later and still no manuals. After having the vehicle a couple of days I was going through the material I could not find the card that had the code to unlock the vehicle with out a key. Called Dustin 5 days ago and he said he would look for it and get back to me. No call yet and i have a sinking feeling I will have to escalate this issue. While I am pleased with the truck I would have expected better service from the dealership and now it looks like I will have to be hassled with following up on several issues.Parts and Service

San Tan Ford Was My Best Car Buying Experience
by Suzi2013 on 05/24/2013updated 08/04/2025I purchased a new 2013 Mustang from San Tan ford in March 2013 and had a very good experience with the sales person Suzi. My experience seems to be in direct contrast to the negative reviews and heres why. From my first contact with Suzi… the sales person, my whole experience with the beautiful dealership and the largest selection of Mustangs Ive seen anywhere made shopping for a new Mustang the best I could possibly hope for. I was looking for a fully loaded Mustang with every option possible. Fortunately, even though they did not have specifically what I was looking for, everyone was extremely helpful and interested in finding exactly what I wanted. The sales staff along with the sales manager searched every dealership west of the Mississippi and found one here in Arizona. Suzi personally retrieved the car from another dealer and had it cleaned, gassed, and ready for pick up the same day I asked for it. Suzis attention to my every need in demonstrating all the features of the car including pairing my smart phone with the Bluetooth was outstanding. San Tan Ford was also very competitive with the rock-chip guard and the accessories manager Roberto also provided excellent customer service in arranging to have the rock-chip installed along with a custom painted hood scoop. His follow-up and interest in my complete satisfaction was exemplary. Everyone from the ladies at the phone desk, the parts department, the sales manager, and all the sales people walking the grounds were all helpful and friendly and all earned a five-star rating. I would highly recommend San Tan Ford to anyone looking for a pleasant experience buying a new car.Congrats on your new Mustang! I am pleased to hear that your experience with our dealership was a excellent one. It's great to know that Suzi and the rest of our team went above and beyond to get you exactly what you wanted at a great price. We strive to have the best customer service and I am happy that you got just that. We hope you remember us for your Mustang's first service visit. Good experience
by JaxAz on 02/24/2014updated 08/04/2025Good staff, not pushy, in-out < 2 hours.Horrible Dealership
by doug8989 on 08/30/2011updated 08/04/2025This is the worst dealership I have ever purchased a car from. They make FORD LOOK BAD!These Guys Worked Hard
by xygman on 05/27/2011updated 08/04/20251-I highly recommend Sales Consultant Charlie Tate. He listened to what I told him and worked with me to get what I wanted. I was unfamiliar with Mustangs and their options and wanted a color they did not have. They haggled with an out of… state dealer for a few days to get one I had an interest in, then when I then decided I did not want that one, they did not give me hard time about it. They let me test drive 3 different units with no hassle, and chased cars I found in other other states until they found exactly the one I wanted. I turned down at least 5 specific vehicles they tried to interest me in and they did not push or complain. The manager Jay Nunez was also very helpful in this process. I harrassed these guys for several days on their cell phones refining my choices, giving them other vehicles to chase for me in addition to the ones they were working on, and they were very good about returning calls doing what they said they were going to do. Give these guys a try and remember: if you see quite a few bad reviews for them people seem to be a lot more likely to post on line if they are unhappy and want to take a shot and an estblishment/person.San Tan Ford Good People
by tiny61 on 05/15/2011updated 08/04/2025The ssales personel at the dealership were and are very friendly and customer oriented. They spent as much time with me as needed to explain the process and to make sure that I had all that I wanted on the vehicle that I purchased. There… was no rush to buy attitude. They whole process was very low key and pleasurable. The sales staff is great.Don't insult the customers
by insultdcustmr on 03/26/2011updated 08/04/2025My wife and I stopped in to check out what they had on the lot USED and were very clear about that. It's expected that sales will be pushy, I get that and understand. The sale guy was pushy about looking at new, quoted higher payments than… what we stated or wanted (which always know your bottom line and what the payments will approximately be for that total price, which we did). Said he was getting a key to a car we actually wanted to test drive, just to check it out. Comes back without the key to the car and pushes us towards a more expensive new model. At which point, I said we really want something used, the payments and insurance will be lower. He responded with saying the payments are practically the same ($100 is a big difference) and then insinuated that I don't take care of my wife because she would be less safe and more likely to be stranded because of a break down with a car that was 2 years older than a new car. Granted she drives quite a bit for work, a 2 year old car isn't going to be that much more unreliable than a new car. Now that my character has been insulted we start to leave very upset so I stopped by the managers station to tell them they lost a customer and why. The manager didn't seem to care as he made sarcastic comments to me.Always Outstanding Service
by danjo333 on 02/06/2014updated 08/04/2025I never take any of my vehicles to other than a dealer. At least I know I'm getting the right stuff by people that know what they are doing. San Tan's prices are a s good as, or better, than the places that offer general service and you… have no idea what you are getting. As long as I'm around, they have my business. Great team.Service Review for San Tan Ford
by suzi2013 on 05/31/2013updated 08/04/2025Today I took my new Mustang in for a small service issue. A burned out pony projector lamp on the drivers side. Although this was a minor fix, my service advisor Jesus C took the matter very seriously. My car was checked in, inspected, and… repaired in a timely fashion. I also requested they wash my car. As I waited talking with another service customer who also bought a Mustang from San Tan Ford, my car was pulled up in the drive fresh from the wash. The detailer stepped out from the car with two clean, white towels and hand dried the car perfectly. I was just as impressed with the service department as I was with the sales team and the Custom Accessories Manager. The service department has earned a five-star rating from this satisfied customer.Suzi, thank you for this wonderful review! I am thrilled to hear that your car was taken care of and that Jesus went above and beyond to make sure everything was okay with your car. It's great to hear that the detailing was done to your liking and that everyone on our team was impressive. We hope to see you again soon. Avoid San Tan Ford
by chandler8 on 07/23/2012updated 08/04/2025Below is a letter I wrote to Tim Horvak, general manager of San Tan Ford. Avoid this dealership at all costs. Hi Tim. I thought I would send you a note about the way I was treated at San Tan Ford. I originally met with Kieran Mitchell… about an Escape that I was looking for. We met on Friday afternoon and could not come to terms. I spoke with him over the phone on Saturday morning and we did come to terms on what I was looking for. I received a call later Saturday morning from someone, I don't recall his name, who told me that the vehicle I made a deal on had sold Friday night, but they had located one for me in the San Francisco area and he would call me back. I finally called back and talked to Avilo, I believe it was, and explained the situation to him and told him I was still waiting for someone to call me back. That was at about 430 pm. He said he, or one of the sales managers would call me within 30 minutes. Needless to say, no one called. It's now Sunday afternoon at 5 pm and I still have not heard from anyone. As far as I'm concerned, the deal is off and I won't now, or ever, purchase anything from San Tan Ford. I saw some negative reviews of your dealership on some social sites and I can assure you that I will be posting my experience and cautioning prospective customers to steer clear of San Tan Ford at all costs. I am also going to write to Ford and let them know exactly what happened. Your customer service is deplorable and Ford should be made aware of it.
We appreciate this excellent review. It is our mission to provide quality service at the best possible price while making sure our customers know exactly what's going on. Please feel free to call or stop by if there is anything else we can do to help you. Sincerely, Anne Pierce 480-621-3728 annepierce@santanford.com - Customer Relations Manager
