Buyer Beware
by sharonr on 08/11/2008I want to clarify that this is a family owned business and the owner of the company has not responded to my pleas for help in dealing with a dishonest salesman and a manager who thinks he live in an era in which he can tell a consumer what… to drive. I have heard wonderful comments about the owner and therefore I do not wish to degrade the family. The salesman presented a vehicle that was certified and stated that my vehicle would be like that one. Instead I got a dirty vehicle with dents and cracks that were not repaired just covered over. There were problems with the transmissions, brakes, seatbelt light, delay, timer switch, fuel gauge, door locks, tapping noise in the motor.......the list goes on. We refused the car, the salesman told us to get the vehicle off of the lot and he was not going to be responsible if it was stolen, he moved it from the main dealership onto the value lot. We took the vehicle and have been in and out of service, over twenty days in service the first month. We have been yelled at and then told by the manager he could offer us a vehicle. It had a large ding on the door, dirty carpet, a ugly color and this ugly yellow wood on the inside, over the warranty in miles, he then offered a vehicle that cost $8,000.00more that the one we had bought. He then told us to take the vehicles or subject ourselves to more in and out of service. If this dealership did not have a arbitration agreement, I am sure they would be afraid to mistreat customers and then tell them what they had better do or else.Jack Ingram Mercedes-Benz - Montgomery, AL

I openly shopped his price and found his to be the best within 150 mi. radius. I asked that he email his specific… offer considering my trade and financing prior to my 60 mi. drive and the rest is history. What usually is a dreaded process involving long periods of time and shallow classless salesmen and staff ended up a delightful meeting. Rick and 4 others greeted us at the door upon our arrival and treated us with respect and consideration. They quickly confirmed our trade value and presented the offer in person. Rick and staff are by far the most knowledgeable and most genuine in the business. I kept a notebook of quotes from the phone, email and personal visits over the period of a week and can say that the person I least dreaded speaking with also presented the best price! After being satisfied with the offer, they were able to get my vehicle financed at a low rate of interest when no one else seemed interested. Thank you to Rick and all who assisted me at Jack Ingram VW. I look forward to my ownership and service in the future and will always remember the way I was treated in your showroom. If everyone who reads this interprets the sincere appreciation I have for you all, you and your dealership will experience continued success in the years to come. My name is Matt Young and I am the Internet and IT Director at Jack Ingram Motors. First I would like to say that no one is perfect and, yes we do make mistakes. Secondly, with six franchises and two used car lots, we will have employees that make mistakes in handling some customer's needs. I was a resident of New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina struck and the VW dealership where I worked took on three feet of water after the storm. David Ingram called to let me know that they would try to find housing and work for any of our employees. I left my family and came to Montgomery because it was the first job offer I had. Once I arrived here I was able to see what a great city Montgomery is and also what great people the Ingram family are. The Ingram family and many of our employees are active throughout Montgomery and the surrounding areas in many civic organizations, charities and churches. We give back to the community through our time, resources and money. If any customer feels that they have been mistreated in any way by one of our employees, please contact me directly and I will personally try to resolve your concern or direct you to a member of the Ingram family who can. We are now celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jack Ingram Motors, and as a company we strive every day to find ways to better serve our customers.
