    Still not fixed - Lousy Service experience for unresolved initial safety defect (inoperable traction control). I had a great experience buying a new Civic Si but when I scheduled an appointment to fix my car's initially inoperable traction control I saw another side of this dealership. Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk service appointment reminder states: "Your reservation is a time for write-up and consultation with your Service Advisor. The actual time your vehicle goes into the shop is totally dependent on the extent of the work involved on the vehicles that are already here." That statement in writing is very telling of this dealership's attitude regarding your time and and outward disclosure that they do not actually schedule when your car will be serviced until after you are already sitting waiting. I was amazed to read it in print in their appointment reminders. My experience felt like a trip to a crowded Emergency Room even though I provided info in advance and was given an appointment. What other business can get away with such open disregard for their customer's time? While scheduling my appointment the two people I spoke with at Herb Chambers of Seekonk confirmed that they can diagnose my inoperable traction control without a warning light. I specifically asked if I need to wait for snowy/slippery conditions and they assured me that their mechanics can diagnose the issue. But upon arrival for my appointment a real-service tech told me that without a warning light they will need to take my new car out and rev-up the engine and drop the clutch to test - he did not appear to be joking. Upon voicing my concern of the damage they would do to my car, he acknowledge it could potentially damage my new car when they 'launch' it to test. Additionally he informed me that the complementary first oil change that I also scheduled will not be free since my oil change light is not yet on (another thing apparently not known by the people you are allowed to speak with while scheduling). So be aware that YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE BUT MERELY AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE PRIVILEDGE OF SPEAKING WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR. And on top of all that I asked if they could at least scan my car for codes and he told me it would be at very least an additional hour until a mechanic could even get to my car even though I had a scheduled appointment. Note: scanning codes is merely plugging a hand held code reader in under the dash on the drivers side, just a minute of time to do which I had already done at home prior to going in. The result of my 90 mile round trip commute and 3 hours was that I could not get the complementary first service, they were unwilling to properly test my inoperable traction control unless they 'lauched' my car potentially causing damage, and I would need to wait at least an additional hour for someone to plug a code reader in to scan for error codes. I do wonder how they measure their employees and service appointments and how my visit ranks in their statistics. Note: when I initially called there was resistance to connect me to an actual service advisor and after connecting I was afforded very little time before being shut-down and transferred back to the receptionist to schedule an appointment. SEEKONK HONDA'S SERVICE IS STRUCTURED TO PROTECT THEIR TIME AND DISREGARD YOUR TIME. I traveled 90 miles round trip and wasted 3 hours of my time for nothing and even after finding one of their managers the response I received is "sorry but the people you talk to on the phone are only receptionists and they do not know...". While still at the dealership I asked to speak with the service manager who could not be located. I then asked to receive a call from the service manager but they have not yet called. I have already created a case with Honda America.

    We've had servicing done here quite a few times. The process is always clear and they're always making sure we get the problem resolved. For anything more than you regular tune up or oil change, this is where I go.

    I was met by Tim when I came in and he explained the process. He told me how long it would take and he changed the dead batteries in my remote for me. He answered all my questions throughly and was very easy to deal with. In fact he was very pleasant, friendly and professional. Tim was easy to like. He made my experience light. Thank you Tim. I arrived early and he told me there was no one in front of me so my car would be the first in and it there would be no delays or back ups. It was finished just when he said it would and it was.

    This was the best experience with service in the 6 years I’ve owned my Honda-it only took just under an hour for the oil change and brake inspection. Every other time I’ve come in for the same service it’s been a 2 hour wait. Keep up the good work!

    The service department is amazing. The service is outstanding. The communication is outstanding they go above and beyond for their customers. This is my third Honda pilot and I will definitely be buying another one from them and having it serviced there they are 100% customer driven and that is unheard of today.

    I drove over an hr to get there and they made the experience well worth it. They made purchasing my vehicle easy and even little things like being offered water goes along way. Armando was very detailed in his explanation of the vehicle and options that they provide. All in all very glad I chose them!

  • Not the HC quality I usually get

    Within the past couple of years, I’ve started driving over an hour each way to this dealership for service on two different cars, with three other Honda dealerships in between, because of the quality of service (fair and equal treatment, no pressure tactics) I get from Kelvin, the service agent I’ve worked with previously. I thought Kelvin’s customer service was a Herb Chambers trademark, but I guess that’s just not so. A different agent, Scott, helped me this last time and I might as well have gone to one of the closer dealerships that I purposely avoid. Scott made me feel pressured to have multiple repairs done based on his (purposely?) incomplete repair history review and unwillingness to accept my telling him that I thought I’d had that work done by a local mechanic. Scott was very pushy and made me feel that he was trying to take advantage of my potential lack of auto/mechanical knowledge as a woman with his somewhat argumentative, very pushy tactics. What about the customer who doesn’t know that Scott is only looking at the HC Seekonk repair records, not other dealerships’ records? Or that he can’t see independent mechanics’ records? Scott’s money hungry attitude showed further when I asked about honoring a competitors coupon and he said they didn’t accept them (with no attempt to ask). They had matched my coupon in the past, but I didn’t want to push the issue, I just wanted to leave at that point. It wasn’t until after he saw me pay, and quietly ask Kelvin for his card that Scott ran out to my car telling me suddenly they could accept the coupon - he checked with the manager. He sure wasn’t acting like he checked with the manager while I was inside as he continued the conversation he’d been having with a coworker after I asked about the coupon - no ‘let me check on that for you’ or anything of the sort. Honestly, Scott made this experience feel like a high-pressure, low regard for women, money grab. It was as if he saw money signs in his eyes when I walked through the door. I will try again with this dealership, but with Kelvin as my service agent. * Note: do the math on the totals they’re giving you for the services they are suggesting. The total costs of the services Scott recommended did not add up and were confusing. There were multiple totals and when you did the math they weren’t right, so I’m definitely glad that I chose one service and was charged accurately for that. In regard to the additional questions asked in this review such as would you recommend this dealership to friends and family, options are only yes or no. I would choose maybe, but since it wasn’t available (and I hope my experience with Scott was an anomaly) I marked yes.
