My 3rd and my last car with DCH Montclair Acura!

I am not happy with the vehicle or my experience. I leased an Acura Integra and it nothing more than a civic with a new name and a higher price tag. The base model which is $34,000 has basic features. It doesn’t even have XM Radio. Also, I had been getting mailings about DCH purchasing the vehicle I was had previously had but when I got to the dealership they said the vehicle wasn’t worth anything. (In addition I was told by the sales manager who contacted me because of my review, the mailings are only sent out to get you in the dealership. Deceitful) It was a 2021 Acura ILX. You do the math. I’m not saying all of the sales people are less than honest but my salesperson wasn’t. I’m not going to mention his name. What I will say is do your homework and don’t fall victim to salesmen hunting for their prey seeking out your vulnerabilities. My credit score took a hit but that doesn’t mean you take advantage. As I mentioned earlier all of the sales people there aren’t scheming. My daughter purchased a vehicle with Keith and he was very honest and very up front and so was her finance person Markell. The only reason I didn’t go to them both is because I purchased my last car with (A) so when he kept calling me I felt I had to stick with the same sales person. I’ll take ownership for part of this horrible deal. You live and you learn.

Disappointing

Tony our sales person was very nice and helpful for the first few hours and even had us write a review before the process was done, however we didn't know that was going to take 4+ hours. Also, we didn't know that it was our responsibility to switch over our car insurance. It was never mentioned. I have never been to a dealer in PA in which I was responsible to deal with that process. Once we finally purchased the car and drove it home to PA, the low tire pressure light went on. We came to find out that all four tire were low. Thankfully, we made it home without a flat tire. We bought the car our 1/20 and are still waiting for the temporary plate to be switched to our PA plate. I called 2/17 and was reassured that this was normal. I was called by Tony and told that it should be in the mail by the end of the week. I call again on 3/2 and they said the registration was still not there. I have come to find out from that call, our registration was not sent out until 2/7. I was told that they would call us or email us this week. I have still not heard anything from the dealer and still do not have the PA registration. I am about to report this information to the better business bureau. I am very disappointed with how things were handled at this dealer. Maybe it was because we are from out of state or my husband haggle with them to lower the price or maybe because we were buying a used Subara and not an Acura. I hope that is not the case. Either way I feel like they did us wrong. I will definitely never come back to this dealer or even NJ to buy a vehicle again. Very disappointing.

Please read before buying!

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY!!!! We purchased a vehicle 9/20/23. We signed forms electronically in finance office and left without receiving paperwork, just handed a flash drive. We test drove vehicle and we purchased same evening “so that we did not have to be inconvenienced coming back”. Both our salesperson, Keith Mickens, and the finance manager, Markel Milstrey, told us we were “getting a 3 year warranty”When we looked at the paperwork there was an undisclosed charge for $4220. For a warranty. When we called Zurich (the warranty company), we found out that we purchased a ONE year drivetrain only warranty for 1 year! The Zurich rep advised me that it would not be a normal circumstance for Zurich to ever charge that much for a 1 year warranty and he could only assume it was padded $$$ by the dealership. I would have never opted to pay $4229. For a 3 year warranty. Markel also proudly told us he worked his magic and got us an 11% APR and the finance info arrived from finance co in the mail and our rate was 13.88%. The dealership has refused to return our calls (multiple to the management, salesperson, etc). They also promised to provide a remote start because that was on our lists of must haves. They “ordered the part” but of course no return call. When we received the paperwork from the finance company we owe approximately $25,500. For a car that cost $21,300., with a trade of over $6,000. Yes, you read that correctly. I could go on and on with additional issues we have now had with the vehicle but I won’t. I reached one person at DCH that told me I bought the car “AS IS”. He heard me out and assured me that I would get a return call. Did I mention that they included an odometer statement that shows less than 60,000. Miles but checked the lemon law box for over 60,000 miles. And the total sale price varies on different pages. I have attached some documentation to substantiate my claims. I’m a middle age mom on disability for breast cancer and I can assure you that I worked in a corporate industry for 28 years with 1 company before I became ill. I have absolutely no reason to bash any business unnecessarily. I did see other negative reviews where the dealer responded with “we are sorry you feel this way or please feel free to call our manager”. I saw a 1 star review from 4 days ago where the dealer says they strive for great communication. I have had to file a claim with the better business bureau. If this gets resolved, which I’m not anticipating at this point, I will update my review. I want every honest, hard working person out there to please find yourself a reputable dealership and ask for paper copies prior to signing electronically. I’m writing this because consumers deserve to know and I do not want anyone to be stupid like me and trust the this dealership cares about your safety, you ever coming back in there or your personal finances. They care about the SALE and the MONEY. An experience with this dealer may not be the same on a new vehicle purchase but I would personally avoid buying from a dealership that is out to mislead, not disclose and essentially scam the consumer. If anyone else has had similar issues, please contact the better business bureau. I promise that my review is honest. I promise the only mistake I made was trusting their words and not asking for paperwork prior to signing. I promise that when and if the better business bureau resolves this, however they do, I will update this.

2nd Time's The Charm

Anthony was very helpful in getting me my new TLX. With the microchip shortages, I had to wait months for it be available, and then it got totaled in the flooding from the hurricane. I didn't know when I'd be able to get another one, but Anthony worked with his manager to find one at another dealer within a couple weeks.

Flawless

I arrived at 11 am sat with service tech immediately. We had a 5 minute conversation and my car went into the service bay.the car was serviced and washed in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Victor did exactly what he promised and you can't beat that.

Horrible

[non-permissible content removed]. I bought a porche there. There was a problem with vibration in the car that we felt during the test drive. They offer to take it to porsche to fix it before we pick up the car. It never happened. When I took it to porsche, it was a transfer case and they took care of it and problem was solved. When I pick up the car from dch I asked for evidence that the car was taken to porsche , none was available. The oil change light was on, I asked if that was taken care of. Sale person says yea. I asked for evidence, none was available. After i picked up the car from porsche, I tried calling for 3 days to try to speak to a manager, none will call me back.. sales person says he will call me to resolve, still nothing. I spent 600 to get car oil change and fix by porsche. It wasn't a deal killer for me but the way this company handel the situation is embarrassing.During the purchase, optional things like gap insurance and vehicle tracking, and nitrogen was added to my bill, which i was able to get some of it removed. They are very quick with promises to get the deal done but do not follow through. BEWARE! Not to mention, I still have not received my license plate It's been over 3 weeks. If it comes in, they want to charge me to send the plate to my address. It should have been covered under the out of state fee that i was charged.Money Hungry People at this dealership.

Pleasant and professional

I bought a used ILX from Fred at DCH Montclair Acura yesterday and had a great experience. Everyone at the dealership had a positive and professional attitude. I never got that feeling of being a “mark” that you get at some dealerships; none of their people have that slick salesperson vibe. All of the additional fees and charges (optional and otherwise) were clearly explained up front, they didn’t try to slip anything past me and they were very open to negotiating on price. I love my Acura so far and I’m very happy I got it from this dealer!

Our experience at Montclair Acura is always a positive one. Acura makes great cars, but the experience of buying or leasing starts at the dealership. Everyone there is very friendly and the facility is beautiful & well-maintained. It’s not your typical headache that car dealerships are known for. They work with you like adults until you reach the deal you’re looking for, no mind games. Paul Wong especially is a great associate to work with, a really nice guy & great at what he does. As long as we continue buying Acura, we’ll be getting them here.

Great personal service, but!

Right up front Victor was aces, he knew I had to pick uo the wife in two hours from my scheduled appointment. He did everything he could visiting service 5 times. All was good except 2 hours for 12k service and a tire patch. Waiting area helped but wife not happy.

Tim, Hamad and Walter are straight shooters with down to earth, excellent service. I left my previous dealership for DCH Acura and am here to stay for all my vehicle needs from now on. They did not try to “sell” me anything. I told them what I wanted, they gave me a more than fair price (compared to Wayne and Denville I visited previously) and I was out with a beautiful 2020 Acura RDX that I am in love with. No tricks or gimmicks! They were also very attentive. They were busy, but somehow made me feel like I was the only one there! I will recommend this dealership to everyone I possibly can!

The Montclair Acura dealership was the third one we visited --- and the one we bought at! Our sales manager, Keith Mickens, was personable, competent and truly helpful. He listened carefully to what we wanted and let us set the lead. No high pressure sales, which was wonderfully refreshing.
